@@MaryCherryOfficialplease react to The Campaign starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis, it's another hilarious Will Ferrell movie that gets slept on.
17:16 fun fact: invisible fire is actually a real thing in nascar, the fuel can burn so hot that the fire is invisible, drivers have literally done this exact thing in real life
"I'm tried, Boss" 😭 "Don't you put the evil on me, Ricky Bobby!" 🤣 Michael Clarke Duncan was so under rated as an actor, he could do it all given the chance. RIP
The fire scene is a real thing that used to happen back when alcohol based fuels were being used. When the fuel would ignite, the flames could not be seen during the day. Theres footage of Indy drivers yelling for help because no one could see they were on fire.
The comedy of the invisible fire in this scene is hilarious, but yes invisible fires were a real thing for race car drivers, and the videos of them are actually terrifying.
Which is why I never understood this joke here. The way it is on the movie and to anyone who doesn’t know the fact you mentioned, it comes off as a funny over the top overreaction from Ricky, which would be funny. Second you know it’s a real thing it’s like okay where’s the joke?
In America a Company makes Breading for Chicken, and other Meat, where you put the Chicken in a Bag full of Shake and Bake and you shake the bag until the Meat is covered. In the 80s the Commercials were Constantly on TV and as kids we loved to shake the Bag for our Parents!
Shake and Bake was my entire childhood. A core memory is my mom asking me and my bro to shake the pork chops in a bag before she chucked them in the oven. Always came with rice and steamed frozen broccoli on the side and, to this, day is still one of my favorite comfort meals.
As an actor I worked with Will Ferrell on Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and with John C. Reilly on Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. They were both very cool. So much great talent in this movie.
Talladega Nights is one of those movies that’s just jam packed with quotable lines. “If you ain’t first you’re last” “Shake and bake” “Oh please be 18” “If you don’t chew Big Red then f**k you” “I’m all jacked up on Mountain Dew” “Help me Tom Cruise!” etc
It took me time to appreciate the Tom Cruise reference. I thought he just said it because of Tom's racecar movie. But after one watch, I realized Ricky was praying to God, Allah, this or that, then Tom Cruise witchcraft (in reference to the cult he was in). Yeah, I was slow on the ball there.
What's great about this movie is that its essentially a parody movie but they use actual footage of Nascar and the announcers were actual Nascar announcers. It gives it alot of depth for a silly movie.
I keep thinking back to the late 90's, when there was a similar rivalry between Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. Anti Fans would literally sing songs about how Gordon and his rainbow DuPont car were gay. 😅
Especially how they point out all the absurdities and stuff the movie deviated from how NASCAR actually works for either comedy or drama. My particular favorite of those being Darrell Waltrip's astonishment that NASCAR let Ricky drive with that big Fig Newtons sticker on the car.
"Wait, why does she look so good?!" It's Amy Adams, she ALWAYS looks good. She's so foooooiiiiiiinnne. Thank you little baby Jesus, all snug in your crib, for blessing us with Amy Adams.
"Packs of wild dogs that control most urban areas..." As funny as the movie is, the outtakes at the end are amazing. I especially love Michael Clark Duncan (RIP) talking about Donna Summer and John C Reilly putting Ricky out of his 'misery' to Wham 🤣🤣🤣
This is Christopher Nolan’s favorite comedy. There’s a few actual drivers in the movie. The one who asked for an autograph was the legendary Dale Earnhardt Jr. The Tom Cruise reference comes from the movie Days of Thunder. An excellent NASCAR movie starring Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and John C Reilly
The titluar Talladega of the title is Talladega Speedway, the track the last race takes place at. It is infamous for field-clearing mass wrecks like the ones in the climax. It is the biggest, fastest, baddest superspeedway (oval track over 1 mile in length; Talladega is 2.65 miles iirc) on the planet. It is also notable for having the start/finish line on a straightaway, unlike every other superspeedway NASCAR races at, which allowed for the dramatic finish in the movie. You actually have to be in really good shape to drive NASCAR; you're literally bolted into those cars, enduring insane heat, noise, and G-forces for hours at a time. You need to be healthy just to endure all that, so the foot race at the end isn't entirely far-fetched.
Personally my favorite Will Ferrell comedy is The Other Guys and my favorite John C Reilly comedy is Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story. They also did Holmes and Watson together, but I haven't seen that. John C Reilly has also had parts in some great dramas such as Gangs of New York
John C. Reilly is such a crazy, versatile talent. Been in every type of on-screen role, in addition to the countless comedies. Some serious dramas like Boogie Nights and Gangs of New York, action flicks like Skull Island, the Chicago musical big screen production, voice work in animated stuff, and even had his own hilarious TV show on Adult Swin for a while. Which was a spinoff role from another show. He always delivers.
This is one of my all-time favorite comedies I'd like this movie so much for Christmas 2 years ago my mother bought me a shirt with Will Ferrell as Ricky Bobby holding up his finger and saying if you ain't first you're last
“OK…I’m just gonna hop in the car and drive”….proceeds to get pounced by Karen ….major lols!! Another is Texas Ranger threatening pops with going all spider monkey on his ass!! 🤣 And lastly when Ricky finally passes his driving test and instructor giving ‘that was amazing’ after he parallel parks by sliding the car in….GET DOWN KAREN!!! GET DOWN!! Major f’in laughs on that one. 😆
They are both in Stepbrothers and it's probably one of the funniest movies I've seen. Definitely worth a watch. Love your reactions and love, love that laugh of yours. Thank you for the great content. 😊
About 10 or 15 years ago a NASCAR driver crashed on the last lap a couple hundred feet from the finish line. He unbuckled, got out, and jogged across the finish line. It was so funny and the crowd loved it.
One of the most underrated comedies of all time, so many great quotes like “baby Jesus”, “don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby”, and “it was an Oscar, for best movie ever” lol
I daresay this was a pivotal turning point in the career of John C. Reilly - he had amusing moments in the films he had made through the 90s and early 00s, but was always generally regarded as a serious actor, and rightfully so because he was terrific in the dramas he starred in. But after this movie, he really exploded as a comedy star, making more films with Ferrell and Adam McKay and their collective of talent, plus creating the character of Dr. Steve Brule for the Adult Swim shows "TIM AND ERIC AWESOME SHOW: GREAT JOB" and his own spinoff "CHECK IT OUT." Today, it seems his dramatic roles are way fewer than before.
Also, Amy Adams had been kicking around in supporting roles for a while, but she got to headline a very good indie drama called JUNEBUG and a year later appeared in this, and after that is when she became a name-above-the-title star.
I saw this in theatres on Family Day, the day before graduating Basic Training, and it was fantastic! A fond memory of mine. Btw men hold hands in what could be called a friendly way in Afghanistan, if nowhere else
I just realized while watching this, even though I have seen it many times before. But Jean Girard sounds like 2 first names too! LMAO, how did I miss that.
Reilly and Ferrell are great in Step Brothers. Also you should watch Never Been Kissed, a Drew Barrymore movie in which Reilly plays her Chief Editor boss at a newspaper and he is great. 👍
Have you ever noticed how much Bill Finger and other Batman writers liked people with two first named? Bruce Wayne, Jason Todd, Selina Kyle, Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon and I'm sure there's more than that too.

They still use alcohol fuels in Top Fuel Racing.
I think it was formula 1 when they used alcohol fuel.
