Renee Zelwegger normally does romantic movies which I can take or leave, but she's genuinely funny in this. Some of her facial expressions are hilarious, and her timing is great. Obviously no-one is competing with Carrey for the physical comedy, but she's holding her own against major competition. Bravo Renee.
She was apparently up for the lead role in Chasing Amy. Which would have been interesting IMO. The actress who did play her was great though. Myself I would have preferred to see her as a stoner in one of his films. She just had the face for it haha.

This was another one of those movies that I watched when I was waaay too young lol, but its always been one of my favourites from Jim. Not only is the movie hilarious, but it always stood out to me how much of a genuinely good dad Charlie was. Despite the crazy comedic moments, I always genuinely rooted for Charlie.

Charlie being genuinely a loving father to his sons is my favorite part of this movie. Even after he's well aware they're not technically his kids, he still loves them and connects with them, and they reciprocate, they love him back. It's beautiful.

A lot of the outdoors scenes were filmed up here in Williston, VT where I live, people i knew were extras in some scenes and a lot of stories about Jim and Renee hosting major cast & crew parties on Lake Champlain. Think they had a brief relationship after the filming of the movie

I love how his boys love him, it's like a karma compensation for all the crap he had to endure. And of course I like how he loves his boys, he didn't mind they were not his biological children 🤗
The scene where he tells the kids: kisses and the three of them kiss Jim was not scripted and totally improvised by Jim, the kids had no choice but to follow along but you can see Anthony breaking character and starting to laugh when they cut the scene
