Mary you liked the Great Film " LEON " well here is a similar film but its a woman and a boy the film is " Gloria " The original version 1980 starring Gena Rowlands. Seriously check this film out you will love it.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall has a similar vibe
Please do "Walk Hard" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". both hilarious, practically no reactions out there.
Evan singing "These Eyes" with the coke heads backing him up acapella is top five funniest scenes in a movie for me, pure gold.
"talking about hurt".
when he mumbles the lines he can't remember... LMFAO
"Wah wah!"
The voice of an angel! LOL!
I find that part totally cringe..
“These girls are 18. They’re not dried up old ladies, they’re good to go.” GOOD TO GO is hilarious for some reason.
And 100% true 😂
@@Fyrecide =_= you sus bro?
@@acidrain92"she's only 18!" 😅
SETH ROGEN wrote the 1st draft of this script while he was still in high school which is why i think the humour feels so authentic
MySpace was so much better than Facebook
To be fair Facebook used to be so much better than Facebook
@@hellomark1 Prime MySpace was better than prime Facebook. The thing that did MySpace in, was that they didn't have a seperate pictures page. So if you had 100 pictures, it literally could take 5 minutes for your page to load. Your computer would constantly freeze trying to load this one giant page
For some things not all
@hellomark1 True...Facebook isn't as cool as The Facebook was.
I loved tweaking my profile and learning HTML on the fly getting the look just right. MySpace was great.
Took my dad to this movie at the cinema when he was almost 70 years old and he loved it. He said Jonah Hill reminded him of John Belushi 😂
Great comparison
I'm in my 60s and saw it on cable a few years after it came out. I think it's funny as hell.
7:33 - "Told her what time it was" is slang for telling someone what's up...implying he hit on her to the guys, but instead he literally told her what time it was.
i never understood that joke, i just thought it was funny because it was awkward
This is exactly how we all were in highschool
yep, not matter the country, this was all of us in school.
Not at all.
kind of? From my experience kids like the main 3 in this movie would probably never really be involved in a lot of the shenanigans in this film. High school partying and hookup culture is pretty much always exaggerated in films.
Fo' sho !
If only.
Don’t tell
I love this movie because it feels like at their age my awkwardness level was basically these 3 guys put together😂
Best name ever: McLovin
One name?!
@@DavidZ4-gg3dmwho are you, Seal?
Hey...McMuffin!!!
I feel Evan's line about the Irish rnb singer never gets enough credit 😄
Yeah, it was between that and Mohammad.
Every generation has their high school movie lol this was mine. This came out right when I was a junior in HS and all the awkwardness they have is soo freaking accurate!
Ya my teen movie during my high school years was American Pie. Fun times high school :)
Superbad is a film that every teenager needs to watch. It just a movie that is perfect, hilarious and relatable
The McLovin scene is probably the best and my favourite scene in the film. It’s so hilarious.
“It doesn’t even have a first name it just says McLovin!” 😂😂😂
I saw this movie at a prescreen where Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Bill Hader, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse showed up and answered questions afterwards. As they were leaving Christopher passed right by me and I said "you're gonna get so much ass now" he turned to me and exclaimed "god I hope so", which really just made the experience even better. I actually ran into him and Michael Cera in the parking lot like 20 minutes later and tried to convince them to come out to the bar/club district in town with me but they were only 18 and 19 at the time and declined.
Not only are the scenes that don't include cops wildly realistic, this is a ridiculously exaggerated story based on the real life events of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's high school years at West Point Grey Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada. Pretty much all the kid characters are based on real life ones that they grew up with. There was even an interview on local TV with Steve Fogle, who was the inspiration for Fogle/McLovin, hence the names Seth and Evan. The guy who peed himself is a real guy as well. I didn't find out if the girls were based on real life people that they knew, though. Every once in a while, there's a line that sounds familiar to me as a Vancouverite. "13th and Granville" is a street corner in Vancouver where there used to be a liquor store back in the 90s. And being that it was the 90s, I absolutely believe something almost this crazy would happen in Vancouver to stoner high school nerds. They don't call it BC Bud for nothing. Obviously, there's significant fantasy involved here, but the way the kids all interact with each other is very realistic, as well as some of the references to actual locations.
Michael cera and the girl who played Becca are Canadian kids😊
Well, at least one that involves the cops, too.
“Should I run?!”
“YES!”
A surprisingly not so uncommon exchange, when I think back.
The dancing period girl thing was a real thing that happened too apparently. I think Seth Rogen talks about a bunch of this in his book which he narrates on Audible if your interested lol.
38:40 "He had this drawing adicktion" - I see what you did there. 😅
If you liked this, I highly recommend ‘good boys’. It’s got similar humour I would say and reminds me of Superbad. And it just had me in stitches watching it.
Yes, watch "good boys" it is freaking hilarious
I remember when me and my best friend called Trigger parted ways, i went to college and he stayed in Sixth form, we occasionally met up but it was never the same, in high school we'd spend every day together.
I'd like to reconnect but i feel too much time has passed.
Its just a thing pretty much every guy experiences
This movie came out the year after I graduated and it shocking how well it captures high school in the early 2000's. I watched it my first year of college and felt like I had been zapped back in time a year. Great movie.
The Home Ec teacher was borderline ready to go off on Seth, but she was impressed and respected him for being so straight-forward and abrasive.
The bullies looking like dorks isnway more realistic because they aren't good looking jocks like the movie cliche
no
Fr!
Seeing this in the theater with friends was one of the hardest I've ever laughed in my life
To be honest, this is exactly what it was like growing up in British Columbia Canada as a kid. And that’s where both Seth and Evan grew up . Also, you should really watch another Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg produced movie called 50/50. Based on a true story.
"they're teenagers" 17 years old, 1 year later TOTALLY FINE. so logical
I first saw this movie like 12 years after high school. I was at my gf's place and she was asleep. I was laughing SO loudly at the conversation with the teacher about tiramisu, I woke her up, and we watched it together. This is my absolute favorite 'high school' comedy.
When the movie reminds you of high school all over again 😂
My senior year of high school everyone was writing something super serious or personal for their senior quote and I ended up putting “I Am Mclovin”
I really need to watch a spinoff, starring those two cops! 😂
As far as I knew....when I was in high school.... there were NO parties. That's how far out of the social hierarchy I was. The doubt and uncertainty was par for the course for most people....some more than others.
I once ended up at a brothel in Medellin because I made friends with a local guy and he wanted to show me "the real Columbia." I didn't know where he was taking me at first, but after going into a seemingly empty building and exchanging a few "he's with me" kinds of things with security we were in, well, essentially bedlam itself as far as I can tell. There were so many orgies, drugs and strobe lights going on in there that it would have been more confusing sober. That I managed to only do cocaine, weed and alcohol in there and kept my junk in my pants the whole time is a bit of a miracle. It's a trippy world and if you ever find yourself bored in it then you have nobody else to blame but you.
This is honestly such a heartwarming story wrapped in a load of jokes. At its core, it's just about two kids not wanting to lose their best friends when they have to go away for college. It's something that's so relatable.
After watching this movie a million times, it's the small random lines that get me every time like when Seth goes "--can you get this for me?", or when gets told he could keep the money Fogell goes "Oh t-thanks". Such small line choices that make me laugh.
I like the ending a lot. I mean, the guys get exactly what they want in the end but there's like a tinge of sadness because they both know their friendship has to change.
Seth and Evan started writing this in high school, which is why it captures the feeling so well. It's also why the main characters are named Seth and Evan. By the time they made the movie, Seth Rogan was too old to play a highschooler
I saw this in theaters and literally had bouts where I could breath or see because I laughed so hard I cried in the theater. The scene in the beginning where Seth is running on the track "about to die" it looked, I was mid sip of soda and spray spit my soda every wherre. Luckily it was an afternoon viewing a few weeks into the theater run so it was just me and a few friends. This is my favorite comedy and 17 years later I still find it hilarious.
So happy I found your channel. We seem to have similar taste in movies and it's great seeing someone else enjoy and laugh along with some of my favorite movies. Always look forward to seeing your next video when it comes out
It's good to see Aussies making movie reactions. I'm an Englishman living in Melbourne 😊
So schön dich zu sehen Mary!! I love this movie so much and your reaction was awesome
I would recommend Booksmart. Its very similar to Superbad, just with female leads.
Funny thing is the penis drawing thing is real. My brother did this when he was in school. I always just thought it was his thing. It kinda blew my mind watching this the first time and realizing it wasn't just him.
I used to do that too, not to that extent though 😂 and sometimes I'd just write the word "penis" all over. I had a bookmark that I made that said penis and I got in trouble for it when my dad found it 😂
You absolutely have to watch “This is the End”. Also made by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, super funny 😂😂
I'm glad you saw and loved "This Is the End," the ultimate meta film. Wish you had reacted to it on your channel. It would've been so much fun. (And I love that you're a fan of "Freaks and Geeks." So good.)
I was a recent graduate when this movie came out. It encapsulates the feelings of high school for my generation so well it's kinda ridiculous. Teenage boys are kind of obsessed with one thing through those years and are willing to do just about anything in the pursuit of it no matter how dumb.
Seth and Evan used a lot of their own experiences growing up as inspiration, but my favorite part of the movie actually comes from the DVD commentary. During the recording someone's niece was in the studio, and so Jonah Hill was banned from using any sort of swear words for like half of the commentary. Eventually someone comes and picks up the niece and Jonah just goes off.
This really is a contender for funniest movie ever. It's incredible.
I was shocked when Mary said this was one of her top comedies. She kept calling things cringe so I didn’t think she liked it. Also calling things cringe is now cringe😂
This flick came out when i was basically their ages in the movie. Was able to relate to it all. Its so nostalgic now. I love it but now the end actually makes me a bit sad.😅
Yeah this movie would be relatable to me when I went to high school. It's basically a nod of stupidity in High School. One of my all time favorite movies because of that.
I literally saw a mclovin shirt the other day at work😂😂😂
I'm not a cop, but occasionally I like driving through West campus at 3:00 in the morning yelling, "McLovin!" out the window.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i already know this is going to be fire
Yeah this movie does not get old. Any time it's on and I'm looking for something to watch I'll watch it
I wasn’t 18 when this movie came out so I got the absolute pleasure of seeing this in theaters, with my mom. My mom is a church lady, kindergarten teacher, who never curses. So this was the second most awkward theater going experience of my life. Needless to say, she did not enjoy it, but I thoroughly did.
Seth and Evan so yeah it’s suppose to be Rogan and Goldberg. Wrote it in junior high if not mistaken and then years later made it and castes absolute gems to play themselves
This is the end was hilarious also
There is no,doubt Mary Cherry would have been an MTV VJ in the 80s. So,hot, so,cool, great style and a great voice! Love you Mary!
_40Year Old Virgin_ Is a MUST SEE!
There is no more Fogel. There is only McLovin.
This movie still holds up to this day , Seth Rogen is amazing
Hands down the best teen comedy ever. Girl next door is my number 2
probably the best highschool portrayal in movie history
What year is that movie Mary?
You, mary, are gorgeous and great taste in movies. Superbad is a classic 😂. Subbed!
This movie kinda makes me regret my high school days, not because I was crazy or trying to get a gf or drunk at a party, but because I did nothing. I didn’t hang out, I didn’t get in trouble, a lot of the kids I was friends with in elementary we drifted apart in middle school. I spent most of my time by myself or navigating around my grades and feeling aimless. I spent most of my time clammed up and socially awkward.
I was a sophomore in high school when this came out and people were quoting this movie for a few months afterwards
Agreed. Definitely one of my favorite comedy films of all time.
One of my favorite comedies, great reaction.
Fogel is my Spirit animal😂😂😂
Another amazing reaction Mary ❤❤😁😁.
I found this movie extremely relatable. Me and some friends still quote this movie
miss these movies.. to bad they dont make them like these anymore. my top 10 favorite comedy movie. miss late 90s - early 2000s hs parties lol
The way it goes for us young men in skool🤟
I like how you called yourself out on why would they automatically think that 😂😂
2008 when comedies went for it and R was cool. Mary's the first person I've ever heard like This Is The End. lol It was too all over. Super bad though.. ❤I rarely ever watch teen movies especially since most of the actors are really like 35 but Superbad is totally worth it. It had humor and heart. 🍿🍿
If you liked this, You should watch the inbetweeners, 3 series and 2 films
This movie is one of the more quoteable movies from the time. So many hilarious lines.
This was the first Rated R movie I saw with my friends after turning 17
I know you stated Superbad wasn't very relatable to you, which I understand, but at the time going through High School when the movie came out this was one of the most relatable movies for people in High School in the US. I haven't found any of these films that I did not like, but this one ranks really really high for me. Loved the reaction, if you haven't already I'd enjoy seeing you react to Knocked Up starring Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, not a high school era comedy, but still one of my favorite movies with Seth Rogen in it. Oh, also, if you haven't already I highly recommend Role Models which has Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin) and also stars Paul Rudd, Sean William Scott, and B0bb'e J Thompson and came out around this time, definitely one of my top 10 favorite comedies from this decade.
I guess the next logical step would be "Easy A"
Mary is my favorite reactor for comedies as she laughs with all her being. It’s a good joke if she repeats it right after and we got several of those in this one. We also learned that she thinks skinny geeky guys are cute. Where were girls like her when I went to high school? 😉
Mary
Crazy fact is that actor, Christopher MIntz-Plasse who plays McLovin was 17 during filming. During one sex scene, creators had his mom onset to avoid any issues because of his age by law.
not trying to simp but i love watching stuff with you♥
Top 3 all time comedy for me!
Seth Rogen said that this is still the best high school movie of all time
Your editor missed loads of the guns being blurred out, just so you know for Australian laws lol
I went to high school in the early 2000s and this is 100% exactly what it was like. It’s a largely probably the same today in a lot of ways, but this specifically captures the 2000s really well. Everything said in this movie, while crude, is exactly what 99.9% of teenage boys are thinking at that time in their life. You can’t help it, your brain is just flooded with hormones and it takes everything you have to try to ignore it. Even something as simple as a girl wearing pants that shows her butt off is nearly impossible not to think about. It’s absolutely horrible and awesome all at the same time 😂
"This is getting crazier and crazier" - This movie has to be based on someone's experiences because this is exactly what high school partying is like. It can quickly devolve into lunacy.
Crazy that she laughed harder at The Sandlot than this movie. This is objectively one of the greatest comedies of all time.
The bit where Seth falls and hits her head wasn’t acting, it was real and happened by accident so her reaction was real.
Loved your reaction as always❤. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
Fogel, is EASILY the best part of this movie!!!😂😂😊😊
Evan he sooooo sweet that he pushed his friend in front of a car twice. 😂
To be fair, it was only the cop car. The first time, Seth put himself in that situation, and it was behind the car. So, Evan was sweet enough to only do that once. That’s what best friends are for. 😄
@@0okamino They're also there to let people spit on you 😂
Can definitely relate to the awkwardness. Fun movie.
oh man gotta be top 10 comedy for me
Love this movie
There's just so many little jokes to be missed. This is a movie where I felt like a caught something new every time I watched it.
The police in the city I grew up in would always use their lights and sirens to run red lights and turn off everything as soon as they crossed it. It’s a crazy abuse of power lol
This is everywhere
oh man the scene where hes behind jules messing around was edited out
23:27-23:28-24:29-24:31-25:30-26:02-26:05-29:44-29:45-30:00-31:15-31:33-32:02-33:11-33:13
Mary you should definitely react to Pineapple express and good boys
Mary's Seth Rogen laugh > Seth Rogen's laugh
I was a skinny and more awkward version of Seth as a teen. This is definitely a good movie
What's funny is that the gripping sensation is what men go through everyday, however playing it off is how adults cope. It seems like embarrassment is the order of the day everyday. The relationship with high school and the cops in this movie is so funny. The premise is totally fictional, but the emotions are real, and we feel it, as we watch it unfold.
