Responding to Seagull's State of Overwatch 2

- Legendary Overwatch content creator Seagull broke an almost 2 year hiatus from RUclips to make a video explaining his disappointment in Overwatch 2. Of course, Seagull's video is excellently produced, but I can't help but disagree with his pessimism when much of the boosts for the "Early Access Overwatch 2 PvP Update" are in response to his original criticisms in the State of Overwatch 1 video. Of course, it's hard to have faith in a new business model we have yet to see and who knows what state the PvED truly is in, but with tempered expectations for now I'm happy to be back on track at least for the live service PvP game. "As a player all these options are garbage" Seagull 2022...hit the nail on the head
He really did. We may understand that from their view its a business. But from our view the end result isn't good.
Blizzard did a good job with their PR team, got a whole RUclips channel out of it
MY FIRST COMMENT TO GET OVER 100 LIKES
But yeah this channel is basically overwatch PR
You know what, after watch resent video on this channel, I agreed even more
@@vaniculukuk yeah it’s sad, I covered a little of my thoughts on this channel in my Overwatch 2 Review video
I agree with him that it's disappointing. We went from "Woah this game is sick" -> "Maybe they are abandoning it to work on a sequel copium" -> "Yup, they have a huge sequel coming" -> "Is it even a sequel?" -> "It's early access + the rest will come later, and in parts" -> "Wait, is this going to be predatory f2p trash or is it going to be good?"
At least Blizz finally got it through their heads that almost nobody asked for this type of a sequel and tried to get pvp going again. Most of us just wanted the game to get supported again, it shouldn't have stopped in the first place. Overall its disappointing considering how things COULD HAVE went, but for now just hope the game is fun going forward
They held our PvP game hostage for years and were planning on holding it for even longer. It is just a relief to even have early access.
@@SlipperySnake321 If you had a family member being held hostage, you certainly wouldn't be disappointed when they were released. It would be better to have never had it happen in the first place, but I'm not gonna complain.
"this type of a sequel" It is that "sequel" still but its just being carved up and given to us in parts..
I mean, people say they don’t want “f2p garbage” but then want free updates as well.
Players in games are often contradictory in a LOT of ways the famous “who asked for this?” quote for every single idea meanwhile you have a shit ton of people asking for that exactly.
Its the curse of having so many players over a single wide appeal game, some want a 60$ one and done with purely balance updates others want content. For that you need the live service model, if you dont want to pay for updates nor do you want a cash shop then i guess you might be a communist maybe?
I don't know, I'm almost certain a lot of people wanted to see a story mode for overwatch, after all the characters are the biggest draw. With constantly updated and continuous pvp and new pve it was going to be a blast. I think everyone forgets how much hype there always was for archive events and the pve
At this point I'm just happy to have Overwatch content in general again. It may not be phenomenal or what it was hyped to be though it's a start and that's all that matters for me
because you have Stockholm syndrome
I'd rather have good content rather than none
Spoken like a true enabler of these scummy ass companies
And that logic is exactly why this game and others are poorly made. Your willing to take half-baked products just because "You want any content even if half done" The mentality of modern days gamers compared to my big brothers times in the 90's ,2000, 2010's is honestly depressing.
People then would flip shit over this and walk away from the games and not give the greedy devs more money for less efficient work.
Thats the issue. Too many players being denied for so long that even small content seems to be satisfying. Although we deserve more than three new maps, three new characters, and some new skins. This is just a sizeable patch way overdue, and we are buying this bs because we it has been two and a half years since any new content. Its the same damn game. The thirst from Blizzard's fan base is heartbreaking. I want this game to succeed, but they need to do better in my opinion.
One thing about if there is a new Junkenstien event.
They need to show a light version of the PVE that they have been working on. Just to give us some confidence in this new model.
I 100% agree. They said it will be "completely revamped" but what that means is anyones guess
They already announced a Junkenstein Sequel with "Wrath of the Bride" that doesn't seem to be a "protect-the-door" kind of mode, but rather something where 4 players are fighting their way through a castle.
@@Suchti0352 I really hope so. But it looks like protect the door.
@@Suchti0352 that sounds cool
@@PetrichorBlue The one teaser image they showed on the blog post didn't look like that at all.
The game isn't a disappointment to me but the monetization of this game absolutely is
They really need to box the campaign (and at very least the base of the hero missions) as its own game, because if they release it episodically with each season its REALLY going to suck.
I agree, I realllly don't want it to feel like an Archives event every season that's over after an hour or two
Yea but what time can I play it?
@@Bfrd25 You've just described my biggest fear 100% lol
Campaigns released episodically are horrible. This isn't some FNAF clone indie game, this is a AAA co-op shooter. I think the best compromise would be to release the campaign in full and then keep adding expansions that include new hero missions and talents, and maybe more story missions.
I disagree
i think you misundersttod some of it, its because of the first announcemnt that expectaions were high, not low, if you watch him you know how excited he was after trying the first pve map they had, and i understand were seagull sadness for the game comes, his are more open heart letters to a game he loves.
The PvE is delayed and not at all canceled
Seagull’s analysis was spot on
No he wasn't
@@MichaelJones-rz5sw why not?
I agree
Yes
@Σά ββας spot on facts
Man, this may not have aged well given the current circumstances.. Nor will it age any better.
You’re endless optimism is inspiring, but when we’re talking about Blizzard I think it’s fair for people to assume the worst. I like Overwatch, it’s characters, it’s gameplay, everything about it, but it doesn’t exist in a vacuum. At the end of the day people are going to remember the broken promises, half bake excuses, and disappointing results. I fear Overwatch is a tainted game no matter how the release turns out, but maybe we’ll see a light at the end of the tunnel.
It's not optimism. He wants his channel to keep going which won't happen if the game dies. He needs to head to the job center and start looking for a new career.
His whole channel is called overwatch, the guy leave on this game so
It's really easy too!
Just add the freaking upgrade abilities to the pvp
Remove the dam scoreboard it makes me very upset seeing that they have the audacity to finally add it now and call it a feature and replace it with a upgrade tree
I agree with Seagull. Recently I’ve felt you have been very biased about OW2, seemingly ignoring glaring red flags.
It is, fanboysm at it's peak. Not to mention that the success of ow2 is directly tied to his income.
He needs OW2 to be successful. His whole channel depends on it.
Yeah because it’s his job. That why I take most of these content creators opinions which a large grain of salt. This type of free to play battle pass, Micro transactions system benefits them heavy.
naturally he’s gonna be biased cus yeah this is his livelihood. but on a person to person level i still think freedo is a very level headed/reasonable person. i guess you just have to learn the difference between when he’s just doing his job (promoting the game) and when he is just spitting facts. don’t forget he has spoken face to face with blizzard devs numerous times and said everything on his mind to them. he does try his best to think of the community at large. it’s not his fault bobby kotick fucked overwatch in the ass
Dude is so biased he said seagull praised that weird decision when he clearly call it absurd at 2:43
Of course Freedo is fine with it. He gets his PvP content that he actually cares about and a spot at the creator table, and the financial bump that comes with it. Those of us who were waiting for new small group content that we enjoyed with our friends before it became a sweaty ladder game? Bobby told us we don't matter to them, and to the creators we really don't either.
It's not Overwatch 2, it's Role Queue 3.0 with a battle pass. Undoubtedly what's left of the campaign will be parceled out as new Junkensteins supporting the paywall, and the talent trees and hero missions will be scrapped.
RIP, OW2.
I saw someone else's comment that described him really well. Paraphrasing here, "Freedo has carved such a niche for himself that he absolutely doesn't want ow2 to fail". Just look at how many videos he has put out in the last few days. Not that much of quality contents, just capitalising on every small topics of discussion...
As a casual player im kinda excited to see the game get sort of revived, but s you said, it's not really a second game based on what it's bringing with it
@@peacekeypr You can Lonnie are completely right. It kind of blows my mind. What Freedo wants/gets out of this game is so different than what I get. I enjoy general discussion but these videos lately have been rough to say the least.
His content been popping on my feed quite a bit and you can tell there is quite a bias. Not 100% sure if Freedo looks at other Blizzard games news or their track record with handling cheaters/bots and monetization policies but one should be at least skeptical to smelling the bs that is already leaking from what is coming out today.
Now I may play a few games of "OW2" later this week to see how much a crap show the non competitive modes are going to be.
@@Zenryu7 the thing is, I get why there's a bias. His content doesn't exist without OW2.
talents 🌲 AND missions 🛣️ are really scrapped?
What is missing in general right now for almost all Blizzard IPs (D4 is doing fine for a while now) across the board is regular communication. WoW has gotten a bit better over the last year but what OW2 PvE needs right now is a reliable statement regarding it's development status and release. Regular updates regarding scope and features (only vague hints in the 2021 blizzconline footage) similar to the D4 quarterly updates.
100% this
Hearthstone doing p well too honestly
Well this aged quite halariously lmao
I cant hold back my laughter for the copium of freedo
Yesterday I played my last ranked games in OW1 with my buddies who I’ve been playing with since launch. We went on a massive win streak and were just reminded of why we bought this game in the first place and why we’ve stayed all these years. This game is something so special at its core. Nothing else can competer with it. The fact that we’re basically getting the largest DLC pack in gaming history tomorrow makes me ecstatic. I want PVE but I want them to do it right. And a live service team shooter with all the new content flooding out will be plenty to hold me over till the PVE is ready.
This game is amazing. A true miracle that only happens once in a blue moon. It would take some serious screw ups to make that blizzard magic fail to truly change the core of Overwatch. Here’s to more Overwatch than ever before.
Yeah my friends and I did something similar on the last day of Overwatch 1. We’ve been playing this game almost every Friday for six years now. SIX YEARS. Crazy. We were all different people back then. Don’t think I’ve played a game for this long since like TF2? I’m looking forward to tomorrow. Maybe the Battlepass will suck, but I’m just excited to have new heroes and maps to play again.
I envy you guys. My friends stopped playing the game one after another. I miss these moments. Maybe ow2 will bring some of them back :)
That "special" core of Overwatch has been unfortunately mutating bit by bit for a while and my first impressions of this "sequel" make me fear that it really won't be that long before they take it out back like Old Yeller and finish the job. Feels like a real big step away from what originally hooked me. I really used to love Overwatch. So much. So so much. This is the first time I have been on the side of criticism. 6 years I have spent in Blizzard's corner with this game. 6 years I have tried to hold on to some hope. I've been playing since open beta and I have defended this game every step of the way. For all my faithfulness, I feel as though I've just been spit on. I am genuinely depressed by this.
On the bright side, one of my friends wants to get the gang back together to play Overwatch 2. So, maybe we can recapture that magic just a little bit.
I badly need the PVE side of OW2 like I miss having campaign modes in games, especially with shooters, we have seen already rendered PVE side of the game with Blizzconline 2021, the fact that we will have in-game cinematics, dialogues and I bet telltale like story decisions like where you decide to go, who you decide to save, etc. Affects the progress of the story (Someone has told me this is not the case, but still I need that PVE to come thru). And hero missions as well will be such a great addition for playing with friends in a non-PVP setting.
They stated it was a linear story campaign. Which I think it’s the better route because they have a story to tell in a specific series of events to shape the world they are building.
Yeah same I’m really glad the pvp side is getting support again but I would still like the PvE stuff to I would love for them to fix the convoluted lore mess they got going on
@@TheAverageJo3 oh I did not know this thank you, which is still great, I love the lore and the characters of Overwatch, I remember playing the game for the first time and asking where is the campaign mode? But there wasn't, glad we're going to have it finally, hopefully.
don't count on it
@@bottle1211 don't count on what?
Seagull really does have a way of presenting himself in a way that resonates.
But my concern is exactly what you are both saying about the PvE. It's really hard to go all in on a game that you have to play in parts. I just... really want it to be enough, when it does finally arrive.
Extra credit for the SkillUp shoutout
I haven’t clicked an Overwatch tea video this quickly in years, I’m here for it.

@@TheRedarm75 The game is free to play
Oh look its Your Overwatch not being biased. We know this "sequel" is just a means to push a battlepass.
I'm most excited about the pve. Somewhat disappointed it's not coming with launch, but I'd rather they do the staggered roll out. No need to wait, it's been too long without any updates. I just really hope pve really is coming still, and it's as in depth as they say. They don't need to make skill trees for all heros. They can roll out with a handful and add more each season
2 hours of fun every 3 months? yay
@@jakerouy4114 If it was like archives, yeah. But the way they were describing it was like a full fledged campaign mode with skill trees and a lot of repayability. Blizzard knows how to make replayable pve content, so I doubt they'd put all this time into just a few hours worth of content
If it comes :)
I'm just about all out of hope for Blizzard to fulfill their promises here.
@@premiumheadpats4150 we’ll do I have some news for you!
i saw seagulls videos thumbnail earlier and i could have bet my left testicle and 500 dollars that you guys were gonna make a response on it.
Question, if I live in oceania which server should I use?
I imagine they would release small packs of heroes that you can play in the pve rather than all of them at once. Alongside new pve maps and maybe some raid like content pve could actually be pretty dang cool
I was most looking forward to pve. It would have been amazing all the stories they could tell.
And locked them behind battle/season pass, no doubt.
Pay 10 bucks per hero
You better believe if they put PVE heroes in the battlepass, it's DEFINITELY not gonna be on the free side of the battle pass
@@ghoulbuster1 every hero is said to be free
It feels like you refuse to acknowledge the shortcomings of this "sequel" in every one of your videos. I get that you like many are excited about something, ANYTHING new in terms of content and I am nothing but happy for you and those who do. But understand that for many of us the thing that excited about OW2 was the promise of PVE content. A promise that I somewhat suspect will go unfulfilled, at least for the longest time still. Many of us don't really care all that much about slightly upgraded graphics and improved sound effects, we wanna slay some god damned Robots in cool ways. Since the previous Blizzcon, we have not received a single word concerning the sate of the PVE side of the game, and if it will ever even happen. Also many of the featured of this so called sequel has many things in it we were promised would never be in it(Think Battlepass etc.) Now I get that Overwatch has a new director but the promise was made from the very same company so I don't see this as an excuse at all. They promised like so MANY MANY times before that they would be open and transparent about the game, giving us updated and news frequently. Needless to say this promise has been broken yet again. I remember them showing off the PVE side of the game, and I was so excited. I showed it to my friends whom had given up on the game years ago, and got them excited. Now here we are years later, and what we get is 3 new heroies, A new game mode and some maps. Agree or not, just understand the essence of Seagull's video and why we are so disappointed, this game is a far cry from what was promised us.
One of this guys videos appeared in my feed yesterday and I didn't feel like getting up to change it. I think it was the one where he reviewed editorial reviews. This guy is 100% on damage control and only likes reviews who praises the games.
bullshit
This guy gets it. I've been saying it all over the place. People keep talking about how we should be thankful for what we got despite the fact that the main promise was the PVE and that promise remains unfulfilled. They're celebrating the fact that they've given us a bunch of lackluster bs accompanied by more promises about the PVE on top of their broken promises.
Can we get to choose what servers to play on? We have been playing on 230ms for years and have been ignored when asking for help. Apparently Singapore servers stopped working years ago.
Does anyone know what time it comes out
Last time I came this early I became A father.
I’m currently looking forward to pvp right now, the new heroes, and competitive 2.0. But I assume, in a couple months I will start to get bored and will be wanting to play the Story Mode PvE ASAP!
This video and seagull’s made me realize why people are so disappointed.
But the reason I’m not is because I’m just glad there is more overwatch content. The console beta was the most fun OW I’ve played in a loooong time. Can’t wait to play tomorrow!
same. Seagulls video in particular also made me realise why OW isn't a very good game from a competitive integrity standpoint as they never even wanted to make a PvP game in this way.
You and every other basic human being that lights up something new and shiny.
@@alyssaglover6013 not just that but it’s also that the gameplay has been redefined. It feels like the good ole days of OW.

Like, it's not what was asked for, but it's easy to keep a player base happy when they have a long history of getting excited by a basic reskin or a Lucioball announcement for the 746th season.
This much more consistent plan for content and updates is what overwatch really needed
I feel like you're blinded by your desire to see OW be loved again that in your recent videos you feel the urge to respond to everyone critiquing OW2. I understand it's your bread and butter but I have to agree with them. OW2 is not it dude. Atleast not yet. Hope you come through.
Didn't realize before I read this comment. I personally is not excited for pve as I was never interested in that way of playing. But now I realize that the promis form blizzard was only half fulfilled.. it genuinely sucks for the peeps out there who want overwatch lore content and pve experience
Here's how I think the campaign will work. Each season we get a chapter where we get maybe 9 missions per season. And hero missions you can just do whenever
That would be absolutely ass.
I remember picking up and playing battleborne for the first year or two of that games lifetime and I loved it. I hope that the PVE replayable (bc battleborne wasnt that replayable) and has as much unique charm, objectives and thoroughness as Battleborn did (for its first year or 2.. it fell off pretty hard)
Does anyone know if I bind my console to my OW2 account later if I'll get my stuff as well?
2:43 Seagull did not praise this decision wth are you talking about
I really hope the PvE stuff comes out in a solid package next year and is good.
Hard to form an opinion before I have played the full game, but I feel that the changes to pvp and the coming updates are enough. I think that they should drop the entire pve experience once it is finished and to not stagger to out across competitive seasons.
Be VERY careful about expectations once F2P practices take over a known product.
Halo Infinite is a Prime example of what happens when Battle Passes and PvP focus take over PVE and coop game features.
Well I feel like unlike blizzard 343 sit on their asses in the offices most of the time not making content it’s literally drip fed within half a year updates like literally half a year they made 2 maps and a battle pass with cosmetics since the game came out blizzard had a year and made loads of maps a new game mode 3 new heroes whilst still working on the PvE side of the game and many cosmetics for every hero like atleast Blizzard gets things done

The betas gave me a glimpse at what is coming tomorrow. I am a fan, and looking forward to the changes. I'm not super excited about a battlepass, and even with the paid route, there's a definite FOMO if I don't grind it. If I don't pay for future battle passes, missing out on unlocking characters is a definite concern. We haven't been told yet what will be required in the future to unlock prior heroes.
They actually did say that you can use in game currency OR unlock them through a character specific challenge from what I remember. I might be wrong about the challenge but I'm positive that they did say something recently when they announced the characters in BPs.
i mean, you dont have to pay for the battle pass to unlock the hero if you play semi-regularly. if you don't then theres probably not much of an issue to you not having the full roster.
if it's similar to fortnite (which the structure of the BP is, so i assume the rate at which you unlock things will be as well given the fact that they have someone on the team who helped develop fortnite's BP) it will probably take around 10-20 hours to unlock the hero at level 55. you have nine weeks to do so. i think that's more than fair, and anyone who isn't invested enough in the game to play 20 hours during a season with a new hero unlock, like i said, probably doesn't need the full roster to enjoy the game anyway.
You don't miss out on unlocking characters though. Even after the battlepass ends, if you haven't unlocked a hero, there'll be challenges for them which you can complete to unlock them. You'll never miss out on a hero.
It's like valorant you complete a set of challenges to unlock them.
you dont miss out on characters in anyways
I was skeptical for OW2 when the betas were coming out, but got a chance to be in the 2nd beta and I really enjoyed it. I have been playing OW regularly since season 2, and the Beta felt like a refined version of OW1, overall liked it quite a bit and I am looking forward to Oct 4th.
Well it's out now
I don't think at should expect a campaign to be going on forever and supported by updates. If they just make a really good campaign, ill be happy with that, and enjoy it alongside the pvp that is continuously supported (hopefully).
I think what they intend to do is make expansions on the campaign, to keep pushing the story forward. There's a lot in the world of Overwatch that has barely been talked about. That, or they release the campaign episodically which would ruin any potential hype it could have had.
It is a shame we lacked any content for 3 years but I’m excited for this new seasonal model

You said what we got is reasonable for the amount of time it's being developed. The amount of time this content and balance changes has been developed is unacceptable on it's own. 1 year for making a game really is too little. They should've at least taken an another year to develop this game and get even more content out to justify launching it.
Im happy we are getting some overwatch content, its been one of my favorite games for years and when this one comes out i will play again easily. Kind of sad that the pve wont be for atleast a few months but im ready to play that when it comes.
I'm disappointed by the lack of progression in the game. The fact that i have to pay $20 for a 2 year old skin that was orginally free to obtain is really dumb and i think this will kill the game. One of the reasons why so many people like Overwatch was because everything was obtainable for free. I paid for the bundled version of the first game, and now i can no longer get the content for that game without paying even more money. I think this is a very bad way to run the game, especially since the game is advertised for free players. Free players will not enjoy the game and probably go back to other hero shooters that reward the free players.
seagull was 100% right and this is still simping 🤷♂️
You guys should look at the game Battleborn. It was released the same day as Overwatch. They had the PVE and campaign down and PVP was fun. But my favorite part was the skill trees they had. Extremely complex and it looks similar to what the Bliz devs are trying to do now.
too bad Gearbox couldn't compete with Blizz and they ended up shuttering the game
If they just fucking staggered the battle born launch until like a year after overwatch they would’ve been fine

This video added nothing to the conversation
I agreed with pretty much everything that Seag said in his video. I'm ultra competitive, but I also was MUCH more hyped about the PvE than I was about the PvP. I'm really hoping that Blizzard delivers on what we were promised, no matter how lofty those expectations may be at this point.
HOWEVER, I gotta say that I agree with Freedo as well. Honestly, I can't remember how long it's been since I agreed with Freedo this much in consecutive videos, yet here we are. I feel what he's talking about & I think OW2 PvP is potentially going to pop off once again. If the PvE hits, then we may even reach heights that OW1 didn't even get to. But, that's too far off to know. I'm looking forward to what's next & I'm thankful that the franchise that we all love is finally getting the care that it's needed for so many years now. See you guys in OW2!
Once OW2 is in full swing, might we be fortunate enough to see a Rein 3.0 guide? 👀
Here we go

I just finished playing OverWatch too for the last 3 hours. The gameplay is fast and erratic. I'm sure that might get worked out but the 5v5 makes it less about team and more about just spamming the other side with violence it's kind of boring. The fact that I can't get whatever skin I want without having to pay for it even if I want to work hard at earning it is going to disincentivize me from playing this I will be honest. I'm the player who routinely got enough points saved up between seasonal events to cash them all in get the new skins and then play again until the next season of them I would fill in the queues I'm a routine player. I am not that interested now in dedicating my time to this game and I'll tell you the truth the fact that not a single skin I've previously purchased on my original account is available on my current account is the biggest reason I'm not going to spend any money on this game what are they going to do wait 6 years and just delete all the stuff I paid for. No thank you this is a hard pass I'm only going to play this Periodically to appease my kid.

@@Sorrowdusk i can go thru how every tank felt, some i played a little more than others but i did try everyone out at least once.
Rein obviously, works fine. He has some difficulties closing space and usually needs a lucio to help him but otherwise, completely usable. Winston is good, no shocker there. And then Orisa, oddly enough, does work as well. She needed a few buffs tho and they did give them to her so im sure she’ll feel pretty great.
For off tanks: Zarya, surprisingly really good. She can front line pretty well against certain comps. Sigma is fucking insane, he feels REALLY good to play in most situations. Dva is a little awkward, shes a bit harder to play now tbh but you can get really good value out of her. Hamster has some trouble, its hard to peel for your team but you’re basically unkillable. Roadhog… somehow more useful than hamster. Idk how tf roadhog isnt completely useless. And finally, doom felt horrible to play. I just died over and over again.
To sum it up… hamster is the most useless tank imo but he does have some value in not dying. I would say every other tank can solo tank, but some are harder than others to make space. Roadhog would be the next useless, but if you’re a good roadhog then it actually works out somehow lmao
Sir I'm 6 minutes into the video and I have realized this isn't a response to seagull
Not sure yet since I didn't really get to play to much during the beta. One of the main concerns is only having 1 tank. I mainly use Dva and as much fun I have with her. Her shield isn't as great as Reinhart. Even Orisa's shield lasted longer, but I think they removed that in Overwatch 2. I guess I'm just going to have to wait till the release to see how it works out.
Right now Dva appears to be actually really strong in OW2 5V5.
Simpy because she does a bit more damage paired with a lot more defense matrix uptime.
@@peterpan4038 I was only able to really play a few matches, and I've seen a few videos recently. It showed Dva doing very well. The solo queue times were horrible, and I hope they fix once it is released. Hopefully since it is free to play I can get some of my friends to play with me. That should help with the queue times.
@@dragonspirit1976 dw they definitely will, the only reason they were so messed up is because of a couple reasons.
1. Less people and having open queue for some god awful reason.
2. Absolutely nothing for supports. Barely any changes, no new hero.
3. People still wanted to play tank, 2 reworks, 1 new hero, and multiple core changes to tanks.
4. Dps also had a “newish” hero and multiple reworks as well.
No one wanted to play support. They did nothing for the role and it completely fucked up the queues. It should be better with kiriko coming out and more gamemodes. Also, being open to everyone obviously
Here's what I hope with the campaign have a main story with multiple missions basically about overwatch being back and the drama of that happening like missions of how lucio got recruited, somthing with junk rat and roadhog junker queen and wrecking ball could be interesting, a late game talon raid of the overwatch HQ could be cool with one of the more on the fence heros showing up to save the day like Cas or solider
The overwatch story can tell story's on the seasonal model we just need story's to follow started in the main campaign leave a few things open also I honestly feel a hero death would be shocking and somthing needed in the story since they have stated heros can die in lore but won't leave the game
90% of players will see OW2 as the same game with tweaks and a few extra heroes. This content is not even close to enough to call this a sequel. The built up content they have to make this game last for years is being artificially leaked out slowly, way past it’s due date, so they can milk what should already be in the game. If they want to add a battle pass and modern monetization schemes, fine, but do so on top of an actual sequel. And don’t place competitive advantages in the battle pass. Maybe the game will play great again, or better than ever, but having to fix something means it was broken in the first place. If all this update does it rectify where the game went wrong, without really adding much new content, I don’t see the interest levels being that high for very long.
Never played overwatch always thought on getting it when it was on sale a lot but seeing 2 is gonna be f2p I’m actually exited to try it out and hopefully get really into it
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! The characters are all super unique and cool, but they do require a lot of time spent learning their mechanics.
You're in for a treat, dude! This is the perfect time to come in, honestly. Welcome!
Game changed my life
I took a 2 year break from overwatch and recently started playing it again last week. Surprisingly against what I thought, I had fun. It made me want to try overwatch 2 will little expectation and I'm rather excited. Never once did I care about what others think or say, just try it to see what you could think about a game. Moral of this story from a casual point of view? If it's fun, have fun.
Same I used to play this game pretty competitively 2016-2018. Took a long break, tried OW 2 and am loving it it’s like I’m playing OW 1 again it’s great
What I'm most excited about for OW2 is trying out heroes I never played in OW1. I feel it's a good time for a fresh start. The week before OW1 shut down I played more Baptiste in that week than since he launched into the game. Same with 76. I'm using this new launch of OW2 as a time to get good with characters I never tried my hands at purely because I was always afraid of someone checking out my stats and saying "oh, this guy has 10mins on X character, GG".
Thoughtful as always 😊
Very much looking forward to your next "strategies/meta from OWL" ....i know you've spent the last month trying to tell us swaps don't matter and play what you're best on. I can't help it, the meta slave in me needs to know whats even slightly OP.
Genji tracer monke junk queen Dva zarya still Ana Lucio zen is berry strong due to the passive hp Regen supports.. brig actually does her role as a support
The new support fox girl is poggy cause new
And this is coming from OWL without the dps passive of movement speed increase for 3 seconds with elims and elims refresh the 3 seconds

How do you feel about overwatch not letting anyone that’s new or anyone that has old years of gameplay not be able to play the game now because they have a prepaid phones? I have not seen a single big RUclips or streamer I’m overwatch talk about it
I don’t really care about the pve aspect, but man what a PR disaster. I feel like half the dev team doesn’t even know what OW2 is supposed to be.
I’ll miss my 6v6, my flash bang, my shield bash, my orisa. I’ll miss the game that I had no change over. Yeah people hate it, but it’s part of the game for me
Yes. Flash bang is necessity. Even more so now. It would give mccree a purpose. I don’t need it to kill. It would be his niche. Reducing CC doesn’t mean all has to go. Flash bang return would be a great start.
I'm right there with you. I already miss Overwatch. All I hoped for was some new heroes and getting PVE. Got half as many heroes as I hoped for, a bunch of cheap balance changes to make the game play like other more popular ones, a shamefully predatory microtransaction system, and more empty promises about future PVE.
@@JOHNizSiK They totally neutered Mei. Essentially removed her purpose.
I'm not gonna judge OW2 til I get significant time put into it, but I am optimistic & hope that the dev team is going to put the love & energy into the game that us players who've loved it since day 1 & the newer players that have fallen in love with it do
You get it ? Sometimes people just want to be negative about things . Yea last few years ow been frustrating but I liked the beta of ow2 and I’m hoping that we continue to grow the ow2 community
Exactly, a review of the game one day after it’s released is premature.
Give it time, let it mature at its own speed.
Remember it’s not just you playing the game.
Every person who know how the Majors work and how the gaming industry live, know exactly that the pve will be 1/10 of the original idea at the origin of the project while people will be drained of their money using lootbox and the "f2p formula".
It will survive as a game for 3-5 years, guaranteeing easy profit and then freezed, letting him die in silence. Exactly what is happening to WoW, and gamers still can't see this. I'm baffled
I 100% believe in the previous vision, so I’m a little bummed with this roll out. But I’m also SO incredibly excited and optimistic for the future!
I recall playing the hell out of the beta months ago and I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm just sad that they benched the PVE content but I think it's a smart move. Seems to me that they wish to focus on and make the PVP aspect as fun as possible. Were they to try and divide their focus on PVP and PVE, that could be disastrous. It's obviously too early to tell if the PVP is overall any good but I remain optimistic. Hopefully when they release the PVE stuff, it will have been worth the wait.
I am disappointed about the PvE elements getting delayed too. However, I understand alot of that dissapointment stems from the development plan they set forth years ago, and its not worth crying over spilt milk. From where they were a year ago, I think they undoubtably made the right decision. We can't expect to have are cake and eat it too. We can't expect more, high quality content in less time.
Hopefully development on the PvE hasn't been *that* slow, and they do have alot done behind the curtain (since that has supposedly been the focus of their development over the blackout years). I hope they don't dripfeed the entire campaign in mini-episodes. I would prefer they work on these seasonal releases while simultaneously working toward a more full-featured, larger campaign in a couple years. The seasonal can also be used to inform the direction with player feedback for the PvE moving forward. And with the system overhaul, hopefully it will mean that as they add features, those will become backwards compatible with previous campaigns for replayability.
But for the love of god, Blizzard please don't litter the PvE campaign with microtransactions. Let me just pay a reasonable, flat price for all the PvE features. I understand it for the PvP, you have to be able to compete with the rest of the F2P shooters. But not PvE.
Expect the pve to be separated. The cash flow for them is better to be like that since they can get more money. They wont charge you 40€ for 10episodes for example. They orefer to Charge 10 per episode and get 100 Frome you. Unfortunately it is going to be like that im sure
but they did expect to have their cake and it eat too is reason team was in the mess they were in
the proof of the cake 🧾🎂👄 is in the eating . I await hangrily .
It took me an hr to be able to login for OW2 just to find that my stats didnt transfer over and i lost all the base characters. Very upsetting. Hopefully they fix this issue
I fell in love with Overwatch before it was released. The moment I saw the first alpha footage, I somehow knew it was something I had been waiting to play for years and I drove all my friends crazy trying to show them videos of it and never shutting up. I played practically every day from beta for the next three or four years. Long after just about all of those friends quit, I still play from time to time, but not very much. It's the first game that ever got me to seriously consider trying to go pro. Starting to put in that effort. Ultimately, I couldn't find the room in my life to make that happen, but it wasn't a terrible experience. I learned a lot. At this point, I'm really sad about what happened to the game. Because, as much a part of my childhood as some other games were, the release of Overwatch in my early adulthood is the most in love with a game I think I have ever been.
I want to get excited for Overwatch 2, but I was extremely hyped when they first released the trailer and it's been nothing but trouble since then. I've been near-completely avoiding news of the game for several months. Honestly, I think I've been avoiding Blizzard news in general since their recent controversies, that I still haven't had the heart to read up on. Now the game is finally out and I am not hearing a multitude of good things in the immediate hereafter. Of course, that could just be a symptom of the fact that people love to complain. However, hearing about the fact that they've added battle passes and heroes will apparently no longer be free and skins will be locked behind paywalls and people saying that it feels like a call of duty shooter. I'm very apprehensive. I only hope that it can maybe bring back a little bit of my love for the game the way it apparently did for you.
I'm sure some people will see this as melodrama and want to remind me that it's just a game, but Overwatch was never just a game for me. Overwatch was a life-changing experience. I'm truly afraid that Overwatch 2 will be nothing but a let down.
I played the OW2 beta, and honestly, OW1 was nearly unplayable to me afterwards. Just breaking double shields all game and being chain stunned by Cassidy and Brig just isnt fun. The dynamic of the game changing, along side the three Hero drop, new maps, and new mode (for free btw) is great. And before people complain about the battlepass some more, you dont need to buy it to unlock the new heroes lol. You can tell the people who have never done a battlepass before.
I completely agree!!! :)
They took down a game we all paid for to give us a store front for free and destroyed what made us like a lot of our character choices.
I wonder why they thought this would work. Just give me Mama Hong, you cowards.
After playing the beta I’ve been counting down the days to play OW2 again. No company is perfect but in my eyes they’re making a lot of great decisions.
A PvP game prioritizing PvP content shouldn’t surprise anyone. It was the right decision. Moving to F2P with optional battle pass ensures longevity of the game. It was the right decision.
I could care less about the cosmetics but I’ll gladly give them my money just to support the game. You can’t pay for a single movie ticket and expect the theatre to let you into any movie you want all year long.
New content costs money to create and in turn should cost money to consume. The same is true in every area of the entertainment industry.
Blizzard is not a charity, it’s a business filled with real people making tough decisions and working hard to create a great product. In my eyes they’ve succeeded.
i just hope that the monetization is not too overwhelming when i play the game i want that to be out of my mind when i play just like the loot boxes of OW1 they were there but i didnt think about them and that is what i want both the bp and the in-game store to feel like i want them to be there but not feel like it was the main concern of the devs/corporate like it was in Halo infinite or valorant where there were constent pop ups and banners of the store and what is new and how much you will miss out and stuff and absurd prices like that. If I feel like monetization was the primary focus of the game release i prob wont be playing for more than a few weeks.
When OW2 was announced the pve was the main draw for me. ive played for over a thousand hours and pve was the one thing ive always wanted. i got scared when i realized they havent mention the pve aspect in years. i just hope they do still do it even if it is a year or more from now ... i'll wait
They never said it was canceled, it will come out in 2023.
I feel like you are apologizing so much on their behalf. The game can be fun but you can still call them out where they are wrong. Like monetizing every aspect of the game.
I’m very concerned that it takes over 2 months to earn enough coins for one highlight intro. It sometimes took 1 loot box from your flex reward to get that in ow1
I hope their pve sets out to a similarity of destiny to an extent. For example raid bosses could be incredibly cool if they have sort of a similar design to that game with mechanics having to use the tanks to defend the team against the raid bosses whilst the healers are making sure dps and tank stays alive and that the dps are maybe completing objective like shooting different weak points of a boss to make the boss vulnerable they could really take this system all out if they do it correctly and then people could figure out optimal ways using all the heroes to figure out how to beat the boss in the best or whackiest ways will have to see what they come up with but I feel something like this would have the community engaged a lot more
xQc described the game in 4 words " it's the same game "
But now it's behind paywalls , knowing blizzard , i'm afraid even pve events will be behind a paywall , but we will see as time goes by
I tried the beta, ow2 is total crap. I don't even like my mains anymore. I'm out. Seagull was kind in his portrayal of the issues. Blizzard punished overwatch team for bad pr they received last year, to get back at the players financially. Well I'm out.
Any one else having issues connecting not able to get on OW2
wait, OW2 doesn't have the PVE levels we saw in reveal trailer?
I'm in the same shoe as you are. I got bored of OW1 and shield shooting, but when I tried the OW2 beta I immediately got addicted to it, again! Once again we could play the whole afternoon and have fun! 5v5 is what the game needed. I can't wait for release, I wanna play Sojourn! THIS ENDS NOW!
Just wanted to say I like how you are positive and optimistic . Lot of creators aren’t , even people like
Dreamcast guy who I know isn’t a ow guy telling people not to play the game .
Dreamcast guy kinda negative and annoying for me
Even better is it isn't even unfounded. Freedo under NDA knows what is coming in the future.
Being negative is addictive and good for views. Ow2 is barely different or OW2 is horrible and instant failure...like pick one you can't have both
I want to be able to complete my battlepass in another season if I dont finish it either
i think seagulls video focused on what we couldve had but you seemed to talked more whats outside of his video which seemed to tangent far from the video youre reacting to. seagull did say he was happy with the changes in pvp but i think his point was more on how blizz had to turn the bus around mid production that affected pvp and mostly pve. im happy too with what we have now but it is also still disappointing to see this is all we get after three years. I would have been more happy to wait longer if it meant a more solid product but again understandable as seeing how fast paced the market of shooter games have become these past few years that blizz decided to get back in the race with the rest.
