@@Plaguedoc47 sadly yeah. for them to bring back 6v6 would be to admit that they were wrong about 5v5, which would ultimately mean that there was no reason to release OW2.
@@sssamjam Yeah, like Sam said, they need to abandon the 2 and just go back to Overwatch, then they can market going back to 6v6 as a “return to form”.
Its sad to see that I was so hyped for OW2, not because of the PvE i never really cared for that, but for the fact that my favourite game ever (OW1) would get all these Updates, new Engine, new Heroes, Maps, and a lot more. As soon as they announced 5v5 in 2021, i got very sceptical, as a tank player it seemed horrible. After playing the first beta, i must say it WAS HORRIBLE, i played the "Long awaited Overwatch 2" for like 3 days before going back to 6v6. The game felt dull, just one big deathmatch, lacking everything that made it special in the first place. Sure its presentable and the way the heroes feel and the game looks still makes it "good", but man if they just kept 6v6 around and actually gave the game the care it deserved it could hav rivaled Fortnite and League of Legends. Im happy that it now starts to turn around again, the future seems promising, but youre totally right on the rebranding thing, i said this last year aswell, drop the Overwatch 2, it sounds stupid and has one of the worst images in gaming, just going to Overwatch and using it as a way to try 6v6 again would be an insane marketing move. Sure there will always be people saying "blah blah OW2 flopped and they wasted dev time blah blah" but at the end of the day, if you make a great game, people will play it. I also believe 6v6 could have good Qtimes, with it being F2P, Live-Service Content, Active Balance patches, Collaborations, new Tanks that are more fun than Orisa or Sigma who stay AFK behind their shields, its really sad to see people write off 6v6 as "Bad because x or y" just because it didnt get any attention after RoleQ released. If you really think about it, 5v5 has had more dedicated balancing than 6v6 but still can fuck up the game more by just changing 2 numbers on a hero, id say 6v6 definetly is worth a shot, i know me and like 5 irl friends would play again.
thank you for writing your heart out, exactly how i felt about overwatch as well. i started playing a lot around april 2020 during the early stages of lockdowns, pretty sure the game was already on life support back then, but i had a blast with it. overtime, game got too stale, but i still enjoyed it for what it is, and as a fan of Shanghai Dragons in owl, i absolutely was on the edge of my seat every time i watched owl watching their climb to the top. When OW2 was launched, i enjoyed the freshness in 5v5, and i believe my mechanics drastically improved and i grinded so much. but around s5-ish i completely lost interest in the game, somehow the game felt even more stale than overwatch 1 when it was on life support, i believe it’s just due to the lack of variety in combinations, seeing the same ol’ stuff over and over, just like how double shield felt like, but instead of shields, unlimited health, or you get one shot, no in between. Mauga was fun, when he got giga buffed lmao, and idk what happened during that time period, but i think the fact that i was just goofing around with a mauga on my team gave me a decent amount of brain rot, and i can no longer play at the level i used to in this game, and then the finals came out and i moved onto that instead, I was very interested when they announced s9 game rework, and when it came out was fun initially, but shooting people didn’t feel was rewarding, the bigger hitboxes just feels wrong, and i stopped playing since, probably wouldn’t touch it until perhaps s12. doing things just don’t feel as rewarding and satisfying in overwatch to me anymore, and i find myself getting frustrated a lot more often, everything feels almost “too balanced”, like all characters lost their identities, which is what made me fell in love with the game in the first place. sorry about the rant, just be feeling really frustrated about this game lately, if you are reading this i wish you had a wonderful easter and have a good time with whatever you are working on this year :)
@@nurikkulanbaev3628 Well Yeah, thats likely the only thing that sucks about Duo Tanking But you can still have some control there, other than in 5v5 when youre either DPS/Supp and your tank locks solo Hog against a Bastion or Ana or when they lock winston into a Reaper/Dva youre basically screwed because your missing your frontline As the Solo Tank player you have the most control to throw the match with your pick, which just sucks if youre DPS/Supp Also, its true that synergies were strong in 6v6, but in Masters and below they were not game deciding, you could totally make things like Rein/Hog work, even against Orisa/Sigma (I should know i was the rein most of the time and climbed to GM with him) But especially in plat and below, where 90% of the players are, it did not really matter, so id take the "bad duo tank games" that happened occaisonally over the "always unfun Solo Tank games" anyday
@@leonzspotg Dont feel bad about a rant, totally feel you Been playing since December 2016, it was my first FPS and after playing it endlessly for like 8 Months i hit Masters (on Junkrat LOL), i kept playing and after getting an internet upgrade (so that i dont lose -50SR after a disconnect) i finally hit GM and it was amazing. Loved the game all the way until OW2 released, i can confidentily say OW1 is my favourite game ever. You know what though, back in 6v6, even during the bad metas, when Mercy was reworked and OP, when Goats went on for 18 Months or when 2x Shield plagued the game, I still had fun and didnt really complain that much about balance. Because, i still could make my favourite Heroes on Tank (Rein, Zarya, Winston, Hog) work against those comps, which just isnt the case in OW2. Trying to play reinhardt, who totally lost his identity makes me so fucking sad, the way you dueled the 2 other tanks and had your whole team behind you was so fun, now its just a deathmatch where you try to charge in and get a kill before getting melted. The game lost lots of its charm and what made it special in 5v5, it just got so dumbed down and less interesting, it really just boils down to "3... 2... 1... GO" Nobody Comms, Nobody calls for rotates, nobody tracks ults, nobody plans anything, but why should you when you could just lock in the OP Tank that season and walk in. Idk, if i ever get to see a RoleQ 6v6 that got the amount of Content it deserves i will be happy, not only because my favourite game will be back, but because i know that 6v6 was so much better, it will be a popular game again, also all my friends would come back and i realized teaching them OW and playing with them was fun as fuck. Also, just from a casual perspective, with 6v6 having less stress on the tank and not being in Counterswap hell (and allowing the casuals to actually play the hero they picked for longer than 1 minute) would be more healthy for the game and definetly balance out Tank Qs a lot Its only anecdotal, but i know like 20 Streamers/Pros who would play tank again and me too, and looking in Comments/Social Media im not alone on this, would love to know how many of the daily OW players actually play tank in 5v5, judging by the increasing Qtimes, i dont think there are a lot.
@@leonzspotg”everything feels ‘too balanced’…” this is exactly why 6v6 was so good. i think you hit it on the nail perfectly. there’s not so much a hard meta anymore and most characters are viable now in at least some case. but where has that gotten us? in the pursuit of a perfectly balanced game, we forgot entirely about the fun. 6v6 wasn’t better because it was balanced, it was better because it was more fun.
@@robqwert2696 going back to 6 v 6 and making queue times more than double in length would surely make them more money, right? They care about money. Going back to 6 v 6 will hurt them more. Barely anyone plays tank as is. Who tf wants to go back to waiting more than ten minutes for a game that might not even last that long?
Barely anyone plays tank because it sucks short queue times or not. So your solution is let it suck so that anyone who wants to play will have a quick queue time and if enough tank players give up the rest will have longer queue times?
Why not get rid of locked roles? I played OW1 during 2016-18 (or around then) and absolutely loved it. When they implemented role locks I quit. The best part about OW was the strats the flexibility and the creativity that came from that. Man I have good memories. Some games you could play meme lobbies and have the best time. And sometimes win which made it hilarious. The game seems too rigid now which is a damn shame.
The fact that Genji is lumped in with Junk and Hanzo as the worst DPS in the game is crazy. He's one of the hardest heroes to play. Should be A tier always.
He;s very team comp dependant, needs a dive to excel, unlike tracer who doesnt need a team and can make solo plays. Maybe if he kept the dash slingshot tech he would be slightly better
The DPS passive basically fucks anyone that isn't a hitscan. Him and other projectile heroes just can't keep up with their comparative utility. And of you don't play those heroes, healing hasn't been nerfed and you're basically playing Season 8 OW2 all over again. Irritating.
Genji hardest hero to play?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 It’s literally the hero for no-hand players. You literally need no ability to kill enemies and then escape like nothing.
11:43 this is incorrect. Jason Schreier reported recently that the decision to make OW2 was a blizzard decision. It did not come from Bobby or activision. He actually said that Bobby and activision hated the fact that they stopped updating and focusing on ow1 because ow1 was actually making them a lot of money. OW2 was a Kaplan and co. Idea not a Bobby kotick one. Jason also said that after Kaplan left, it was too late to go back on the ow2 branding since it had already been announced. Kaplan drove ow2 down a cliff and jumped before it crashed 😂.
People say a lot of things to avoid responsibility. Not saying it's not true, but Blizzard is owned by Activision, so final decisions are always Activisions.
The game needs longer than a year's worth of post-launch development (especially after the lay-offs). There's going to need to be a dedicated level of (re)learning about the design of Overwatch and what they fundamentally want, especially given a large portion of this Dev team might not have nearly as much (if any) experience with 6v6. There is however, a perfect line-up for marketing, nostalgia, re-structuring from top to bottom, re-branding, and re-designs of the entire game- all while giving 5v5 the time it needs for people to recognize the issues aren't going away. 2 years of development and releases, with more generalized designs that CAN be re-worked comfortably and easily: And that's the 10 year anniversary. Enough time for OW2 to have had it's day, 5v5'ers to have their format (which gets shuffled into an Arcade mode) for a significant period of time, and 6v6 to get re-configured for a dedicated PvP-Development focus. It's the right amount of time and the right amount of dedication to settle the current grievances and set the franchise up for a comeback.
I dont understand why this is an issue, it seems more like an incentive to play better and work with your team, it is A team game after all. ive seen A few complain about 5 stacks but its definitely not A problem, competitive is A place to learn and get better at the game or its pointless playing comp and learning to work together to beat A 5 stack is part of that. Hope you have good games ♥
I definitely support this entire video and all its statements 6v6 is needed like the tank experience is the most miserable it’s been in a long time I’ve been saying and many others have been saying over watch isn’t a 5v5 game
6v6 would never be good as long as they keep balancing for 5v5. if they added 6v6 it would just be a shit show and they aren't competent enough to balance 2 different games. just replacing 5v5 with 6v6 is the only way 6v6 would ever succeed
@@idk9637well that's why you do open queue, that mode is already unbalanced anyways who cares? Just do a 6v6 and let people decide which is more FUN. This April fools patch is the only time I've seen people that have been critical since day one say it was a good patch, and that's cause its fun and silly which is what a lot of us want. That's why PVE was such a big deal, it had the potential to revive the co-op PvE experience and keep us playing for a long time, and instead we got sloppy seconds. Maybe 5v5 is more balanced but I can tell you this, especially as a tank player apart from launch maybe, it's never been fun. Either Orisa is the best tank and you're just playing her pretty much, or tanks are dogshit like they've been for the past few patches. I'm not touching the game until they figure out WTF to do with tanks.
Doomfist was better as DPS if you took the time to Learn him on DPS and Learn timing postioning, Combos Etc. But if u had a team to always peel for you. you pretty much felt like a god and felt good but wasnt so Oppressive as many people claim he was *Cough* support players. Then you are just GOLDEN with DPS DOOM I Miss DPS Doom Tank doom tbh isnt fun and its crap. Want a rework to put him back on DPS but if people bitch about it id say tough shit that or to Opease them so they dont Cry so much just rework him in a different way for DPS cuz why GIVE Him a 1 punch man skin and he cant almost 1 shot or 1 punch anymore thats just a fucking jab and a insult man. Its so Sad. Id say at the very least give him more damage his punch even with empowerd is like a wet Pool noodle slap its really annoying and frustrating hes DOOMFIST for a reason and not Noodlefist like come on bro. 😂
@@Gamer_Luna Tank doomfist isn't always fun right now, but how much of it is because of the rework and how much is because of the state of solo tank right now. The moments when you pop off on tank doom have been just as fun personally, but it feels like a slag because it rarely happens.
Hot take: I think Jeff Kaplan and the direction of the old Overwatch team ruined Overwatch's trajectory as a game/franchise. They wanted to be something more and tried to WoW-tize Overwatch rather than just appreciating what they had right in front of them. The community loves to point fingers at Activision/Bobby Kotick; but at some point we as a community have to understand that really Jeff Kaplan's "grand vision" for Overwatch is what got us here in the first place. I think the announcement of the complete cancellation of any future PvE stuff is the best and most refreshing news I've heard in a very long time. It shows that Aaron Keller and the new Overwatch dev team understand and appreciate what Overwatch is and always has been. That being said, it doesn't mean the Overwatch team should stop pursuing fleshing out the lore of the game, and giving us more content about the characters we all know and love! I really think they should take a page out of Riot's book and give us some sort of Netflix Overwatch animated series or something, rather than spreading themselves thin and trying to make a PvE experience that causes the PvP portion of the game to suffer. Lastly, I think it could be really interesting getting away from all the Overwatch 2 branding. Obviously it could maybe feel a little shameful, but long term I think it's worth it. I just think the key thing is being transparent about it. And why they want to get back to just calling it Overwatch 2. Good video Samito!
Seriously this. We get shunned for saying this but it is 100% true. I honestly find it laughable when people say that "the old overwatch team was better than the new one".
Both the Jeff’s wanted to make the game easier as time went on but they hadn’t realized what the product in front of them was. They accidentally created a competitive game. They made so many bad changes that fixing them feels nearly impossible
@@RIP_ZYZZ1738 I'd say they made a casual shooter like TF2 and then forced it to be competitive. I was there at OW1 launch, it was not sweaty. They wanted to force the league and ranked mode, which was a mistake.
6v6 would definitely work now since the main tanks that dominated the shield meta have either weaker shields or no longer have a shield plus it'll make champs like junker queen and wrecking ball more viable only problem I see with 2 tanks is potentially remattra
So I quit and uninstalled the game for a couple of different reasons. 1. What they consider "content" is just kinda lame updates (balance is separate from this). 20-30 new skins is meh. 2. Two new game modes in almost a decade added to competitive. One of them is just dog water and I dispise the mode. 3. Nothing to look forward to. All they have to offer is bs gimmick trial modes (like Starwatch, are garbage ideas), skins, three new heros a year, three new maps a year, and and and...oh wait, thats it. 4. The games in the metal ranks are still busted from Season 1 of OW 2. Games are either you steam roll or get rolled. Boring af. This match maker is just awful. 5. The changes to leaver penalties is dumb. Sometimes I forget to leave que and go take a piss. Now I have a two hour wait because the game is more important than my bladder. Seems stupid and is going to push alot of casuals away once they encounter a bad run. I can understand having strict rules in Competitive is important, but effing quickplay. GTF outta here. Tldr, why do you still look forward to grinding a game that releases the minimum viable product then clap like circus seals for crumbs? I'm glad you get a Streamer mode Sam, can the OW devs create a useful HUD that actually displays information, like team health without hard staring at the person...ffs this game is almost a decade old and is still barebones as hell.
you're right sam they should also revert OW2 down to the sound system. Directional audio is permanently fucked thanks to the new convolution reverb system. Now gun sounds have too much bass, too loud compared to footsteps, there's a myriad of sound bugs and you can't tell what's happening because everything sounds like a sludge (gun sounds from far away are louder than someone is shooting you from behind. I would grind the game again (even with the stingy new reward system) if the audio was like OW1 again
@@areaxisthegurkha but this is a video game. there is a reason why they even curated these sound effects in the first place, it adds to gameplay. If people wanted to play something "realistic" they would just play COD or MW or CS
Still don't think we should shout about queue times again until we see what it looks like now that the game is free to play and doesn't have the monetary barrier to entry anymore.
A lot of stuff we want is the middle of what we got. Tanks feel like garbage now, but genuinely tanks DO feel better in terms of not needing a specific off tank to reach your fullest potential. 6v6 should return, but I think tanks in their current state feel WAY less restrictive then in 6v6 so I’d like to balance the tanks with THAT in mind. Just like how the battle pass isn’t bad, but hero’s being locked was too far.
I've said it plenty of times: Support power creep + the DPS passive would have gone a lot smoother if it didn't cost OW2 another player on each team and a year of balancing for that same deficit. Tank synergies overall are much less systemic of an issue to me in 6v6 than Tank viability seems in 5v5. The Main Tank/ Off-Tank designation was a terrible way to design them imo and 5v5 only highlighted how often they tend to overlap and drag the whole game down when they do. Make them all brawlers and give them a resistance passive on top of it. Extend the DPS passive to overhealth and watch how much better the game plays for it.
I still don't play this game. In OW1, I got bored of just Damage/Support, so began to play tank. I fell in love with main-tanking, but it was ONLY possible because of my off-tanks or other tank in general. Without that, this game just feels hollow and not "whole." I feel no matter what they ever do, no matter what heroes are added, N O T H I N G will feel the way OW1 felt with two tanks. Can't change my mind, I've had YEARS to reflect on this at this point, with how long OW2 has been out. I TRIED tanking in OW2. It is NOTHING like in OW1. It is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAME in fact. And a game I do NOT want to play. Ever.
only solution is to never have made ow2 in the first place. game is absolute shit and they knew it by removing ow1. no one would have played it if they didn't.
@@RearrangeGinger I remember pretty much every content creators were praising 5v5 at launch. It was bob kotick's greed that forced Ow2 into us. We shouldve pushed back
I was initially interested but I just had a bad feeling about the game. Between the battle pass locked heroes and cancelled pve I chose not to spend the money. I’m glad they’re fixing the game up and make it better but I won’t ever support it because of what they did.
How? Blizzard management refused to give them the manpower they needed to work on both PvE and PvP simultaneously, it fell apart and now a significant portion of the people who worked on it were laid off. It'd be a massive waste of resources to focus on PvE at this point. Get over it
My favorite part about the tank swapping atm is when playing dps the tanks will come out on lets say zarya vs dva. dva gets rolled for a fight or two so then goes hog. hog is unkillable and somehow farms zarya rn and then the zarya will swap to hog and now the entire game comes down to a hog mirror and there is 0 space for dps and and it's just which hog is better and/or which support can anti or suzu the feeding hog better. sucks ass other than that, game is in very good spot. delete hog
I was a tank main in ow1, I fucking loved that role and especially the synergy with the other tank, peeling for my supports and stuff...it was so much fun. In OW2 I can't play more than 3 games on tank without getting disgusted with the role. Everything I loved about the experience is gone and I honestly don't even know how to play tank properly in ow2...So I just became a support main and climbed higher than ever before on a tank 😅
I think as it stands right now, I am actually enjoying the direction the game going into now. The dev team especially has been so, so much more expressive in their approach and honestly aren’t afraid to take their risks as of recently. It may not be the peak game I grew with in 2016 but it certainly has been one of biggest turnarounds for this game within this year alone. I do hope that this trend of positive development keeps going because I am loving every second of that. I will admit, I was very skeptical on how this game would turnout when the whole shenanigans of its launch being poorly received to having PvE cancelled and a lack of communication at the time, I was scared that I would be disappointed and I was for a long time. Thank god it isn’t the case now though I do see some varying issues with the current in game infrastructure as certain roles continue to struggle and how the current brand vs the current game does not fit the current format of what it was originally so I dk hope they have some plans on how it should be implemented. Anyways, great video🤙
It's so stupid, either tanks are good but Orisa is OP and you only play her, or they're all dogshit. Then you have rein and ball who are struggling to just exist, it's beyond stupid
my change for venture would be give all their abilitys a 1-2 second icnrease in cd and give them a shift or e or waht ever was missing as a "reduce the cd's of venture by half of max" so they had sick blow off moments and cool combos but its not as consistent? and they would be the only character with an ability like that so i think its kinda cool!
i really like the state of overwatch, even with 1 tank. (i wish it was 2 tho it makes more sense for overwatch) the 1 THING that i miss so much was looking for a group 6 stacking. allowed me to meet a lot of overwatch players year ago. many of which i still talk to today
I think my largest issue with the branding for ow2 is that it's set a staple feeling in me, that any competitive shooter that rebrands as a second game. Will now have the assumption in my mind that it will be another "Overwatch 2." With the Ramattra balancing, the hero swaps, for a short period of time, the only counter to 85% of the tanks was a tank who could pop shield, cancel his shield, pop his ult and gain even more shield. Who can block and reduce the damage even more, as a dps player and even as a tank player, feeling like the only swap for 2 months was Ramattra in diamond. Felt horrible, rein was weak, orisa was strong, sig was strong, but Ram for a while was king before the nerfs and that was really boring. I feel now he's a lot more balanced, and they have made a lot of changes since I've quit, I'll admit this is an older take. But dealing with the swapping is still an annoying issue. I hope they fix it so I can respect the game again, and have the same feeling as ow1. I started playing again and the tank role still feels poor and needs adjustment. ( Edit: Ram could also gain ult in roughly 45 seconds if fed properly, which is very quick for that kind of ultimate)
So I like the idea of "rebranding" Overwatch and I think that something like Fortnites OG season might be cool. My idea is to do something like "Overwatch: Recall" to go back to the original cast and lock away all the other characters to then re-release them into the game over a couple of days or weeks as well as the format where you start with open queue then role queue and then 5v5. Maybe you could have both modes at the same time since not being able to play the new characters in 6v6 might not be that great. Yeah just wanted to share this thought I had and I would like to know what you think
As a new player, who just started playing Overwatch games for the first time this month. I can say I have been having a great time with the game, it is a no-commitment 5v5 multi-player that you can pick up and put down anytime The gameplay is very smooth, and the animations are crisp. I guess all the missteps and false promises really bothered the overall community.
Dropping the ball on pve will never be forgotten. They can invest and build it into the game, but until then the game will never have people playing it just for fun anymore. The gameplay and unique abilities are way too cool to be confined into a PvP sandbox.
It’ll never be what it was, but I think it’s improving on what it was at the start of Overwatch 2, it’s getting back it’s mojo and I really hope they revive this to bring it back to massive acclaim
Sam you are the leading content creator for this game. Where others bend the knee you stick strictly to the OW science and I appreciate it more than you realize brother. God speed and may riches follow you wherever you go in life.
I could see Mauga being better in 6v6 but as someone who generally plays hundreds of games as tank per season since mauga came out I've maybe played a hundred games as tank. He just makes it so boring it's not that he's unbeatable because he definitely is it's just not fun at all.
I whole heartedly agree with the decision to drop the Overwatch 2 brand and revert back to Overwatch while releasing 6v6 along with a lot of other content on one of the anniversary events.
The competitive ranks too slowly when on win streaks takes like 10 wins in a row to rank up from d2 to m5. Then if you try to play with someone like 1 rank below d4 you'll be in 14 minute queue
The game is dull, stale and unimaginative. I can't tell it from the first overwatch after being gone for a couple years. Like this game is stupid and not worth putting a cent of real money into.
I was ASS with Venture. I don’t play DPS either really as my main role is Tank, but I just could NOT get her cooldown rotation down. Definitely need more time to learn.
Support main here who vastly prefers 5v5. I do not like stacking damage mitigation, I think it makes the game extremely unenjoyable to play. I would be fine going back to 6v6 but only if they make tanks damage mitigation noticeable worse than it was in 6v6 previously. I’m happy with giga buffed tanks in 5v5 but in 6v6 I do not want them near the power level they were before.
@@TSGC16 but I don’t mean nerfed from this state. I mean decently nerfed, specifically in their damage mitigation ability, compared to their state in Overwatch 1. Let’s take rein, though I know he’s awful rn. His shield was 2000 in OW1 & I believe is 1400 currently, up from 1200 at the beginning of Overwatch 2. I would want 1000 shield. For Sigma I would want 500 max with a nerf to the cooldown on suck. Dva less defense matrix uptime than OW1 with less health, etc. Which I know sounds bad as a tank. But anything more & im fully against 6v6 returning. Which is why I’m on the side of 5v5 because I think stacking damage mitigation is the most broken thing ever put into Overwatch & the least fun imo. Plus you’ve now got Queens shout & Ram’s block & all the new damage mitigation put into the game on tank, plus the damage mitigation that supports have picked up in the meantime.
I feel like it needs to be said that tanking in Overwatch GOT MY FUCKING DICK HARD! It used to be fucking AMAZING. I LOVED it. Rein bullying zones, monky making executions. Early ball was b\peak tank gameplay. He was op for sure, but it really felt like you had positioning in your hands. A tank in overwatch used to DECIDE where people could stand. That was your piece in the strategy. It was 7 dimensions of gameplay that could be easily started and hard won to perfect. It lost that in the last days of overwatch and I never tried OW2. I just don't see it without the tank duo setup.
In my opinion T4 also needs to focus on revamping the entire new player experience. I was watching a lot of new players trying out OW for the first time and they are kinda lost what is happening, what the heroes are doing, what the different game modes are, etc. Improving the onboarding will also help to motivate the new players to stay. Let's be honest... The experience for new players can be the worst for them.
Speaking of map design, Ilios could use a little reworking, because good lord what a terrible map that is. I can't think of a single map in any game that is worse. It is so claustrophobic, and you're always bumping into something, or stepping over bumps in the ground, etc. Just a frustrating place to be in.
If PvE could've been delivered exactly as promised, it would have justified the lull in major updates for most of 2020-2022 If they couldn't do the skill tree mode but still launched a full campaign in one piece, that wouldn't have justified the slowdown to the live game, but it at least would've been well-received and good enough to justify the Overwatch 2 branding But launching that campaign as bite sized episodes over the course of several years is just pure rubbish, and cancelling it entirely and eating the sunk cost is preffarable to continuing down that route
Honestly I think anyone who doesn't see how huge of an improvement seasons 6-10 are over seasons 1-5 is just blindly hating on blizzard no matter what they do at this point. LIke a year ago it felt like this game legitimately had a chance of being back into OW1 style maintenance mode within a few years, that is no longer that case
Comp is not why I like OW, it’s how fun it can be in balanced low stress matches, tank is not half bad if you don’t worry about trashy min maxing players acting like tryhards. This game is far more of a strategic team based fps than most but that shouldn’t mean a ton of people act so high and mighty, and it’s getting better I feel
samito: dont worry guys im not gonna complain about 6v6 in this video samito 10 minutes later: okay so they should just drop the 2 and bring back 6v6 and overwatch is perfect
listen, this may sound insane, but since this is a pro-tank community, what if having "guest" heroes came into the game? what do i mean? well, like mortal kombat, dead by daylight, super smash bros, etc. licensed heroes being new heroes every once in a while, especially for the tank role, can make the role more appealing. someone popular from a film or another video game series coming into the game definitely rebuilds rapport and promotes excitement and interest. i dont mean a skin, an actual playable licensed character with iconic abilities.
"Give flowers" count: 8 Great video though. Just what I was looking for as I haven't played in years after being so disenchanted with how things were handled.
Samito is totally right if they want the game to achieve is full potential they gotta let the 2 go and rebrand the game back to Overwatch, hopefully blizzard sees this and rethink what they should do with the game.
Venture already feels too good imo. You can easily get to a spot to primary dash primary melee (which does over 300 dmg in a second) and dig away to freedom.

Na misa amane that’ll never happen unfortunately 😭
@@Plaguedoc47 sadly yeah. for them to bring back 6v6 would be to admit that they were wrong about 5v5, which would ultimately mean that there was no reason to release OW2.
@@sssamjam Yeah, like Sam said, they need to abandon the 2 and just go back to Overwatch, then they can market going back to 6v6 as a “return to form”.
@@sssamjamcancelling pve admitted that there was no reason for OW2😊
I cant wait to load into Game, lock Rein/Winston and my teammates picks Roadhog
thank you for writing your heart out, exactly how i felt about overwatch as well. i started playing a lot around april 2020 during the early stages of lockdowns, pretty sure the game was already on life support back then, but i had a blast with it. overtime, game got too stale, but i still enjoyed it for what it is, and as a fan of Shanghai Dragons in owl, i absolutely was on the edge of my seat every time i watched owl watching their climb to the top.
@@nurikkulanbaev3628 Well Yeah, thats likely the only thing that sucks about Duo Tanking
But you can still have some control there, other than in 5v5 when youre either DPS/Supp and your tank locks solo Hog against a Bastion or Ana or when they lock winston into a Reaper/Dva youre basically screwed because your missing your frontline
As the Solo Tank player you have the most control to throw the match with your pick, which just sucks if youre DPS/Supp
Also, its true that synergies were strong in 6v6, but in Masters and below they were not game deciding, you could totally make things like Rein/Hog work, even against Orisa/Sigma (I should know i was the rein most of the time and climbed to GM with him)
But especially in plat and below, where 90% of the players are, it did not really matter, so id take the "bad duo tank games" that happened occaisonally over the "always unfun Solo Tank games" anyday
@@leonzspotg Dont feel bad about a rant, totally feel you
Been playing since December 2016, it was my first FPS and after playing it endlessly for like 8 Months i hit Masters (on Junkrat LOL), i kept playing and after getting an internet upgrade (so that i dont lose -50SR after a disconnect) i finally hit GM and it was amazing.
2... 1... GO"
Nobody Comms, Nobody calls for rotates, nobody tracks ults, nobody plans anything, but why should you when you could just lock in the OP Tank that season and walk in.
Also, just from a casual perspective, with 6v6 having less stress on the tank and not being in Counterswap hell (and allowing the casuals to actually play the hero they picked for longer than 1 minute) would be more healthy for the game and definetly balance out Tank Qs a lot
Its only anecdotal, but i know like 20 Streamers/Pros who would play tank again and me too, and looking in Comments/Social Media im not alone on this, would love to know how many of the daily OW players actually play tank in 5v5, judging by the increasing Qtimes, i dont think there are a lot.
@@leonzspotg”everything feels ‘too balanced’…”
this is exactly why 6v6 was so good. i think you hit it on the nail perfectly. there’s not so much a hard meta anymore and most characters are viable now in at least some case. but where has that gotten us? in the pursuit of a perfectly balanced game, we forgot entirely about the fun. 6v6 wasn’t better because it was balanced, it was better because it was more fun.
Junker Queen in 6v6 would be my dream

Don't agree.
The fact that Genji is lumped in with Junk and Hanzo as the worst DPS in the game is crazy.
He's one of the hardest heroes to play. Should be A tier always.
As a genji main i wholeheartedly agree
What a stupid take. Just because someone is hard to play doesn't make them viable or a good dps! 😂
Jason also said that after Kaplan left, it was too late to go back on the ow2 branding since it had already been announced. Kaplan drove ow2 down a cliff and jumped before it crashed 😂.

2 years of development and releases, with more generalized designs that CAN be re-worked comfortably and easily:
And that's the 10 year anniversary.
The problem with stacking is myself and others are solo queuing into 5 stacks in comp which should never happen

"Actually, the entire premise of the sequel getting cancelled and 2 players being removed from a match is a GOOD thing!" You're delusional.
@@RIP_ZYZZ1738 I'd say they made a casual shooter like TF2 and then forced it to be competitive. I was there at OW1 launch, it was not sweaty. They wanted to force the league and ranked mode, which was a mistake.
Many people likes ranked and being competitive though. Forcing the competitive scene may have been the mistake but not the mode perhaps?
6v6 would definitely work now since the main tanks that dominated the shield meta have either weaker shields or no longer have a shield plus it'll make champs like junker queen and wrecking ball more viable only problem I see with 2 tanks is potentially remattra
6v6 worked for almost 7 years
So I quit and uninstalled the game for a couple of different reasons.
@InstantClassic19 only thing I heard him say during the video was "give the team their flowers" or some shit like that.
as a dps main i hate 5v5 because it punishes proactive gameplay and endorses standing in main being passive and only shoot (goes for all roles)
Seems like the ppl that hate overwatch 2 are the people that play it like a job
My and my friends love it, it's fun and plays well
They're at a point where they should just delete the tank role entirely or bring back 6v6.
The one thing we do know, 5v5 with 1 tank AIN'T IT
you're right sam they should also revert OW2 down to the sound system. I would grind the game again (even with the stingy new reward system) if the audio was like OW1 again
well in a way, guns are supposed to be loud enough to mask footsteps realistically.
@@areaxisthegurkha but this is a video game. there is a reason why they even curated these sound effects in the first place, it adds to gameplay. If people wanted to play something "realistic" they would just play COD or MW or CS

Well said, Samito. You're the best OW 2 content creator out there
I still don't play this game.
Ever.
There is already a solution. Just make open queue 6v6 with balance patches for every tank
only solution is to never have made ow2 in the first place. game is absolute shit and they knew it by removing ow1. no one would have played it if they didn't.

its a good day when sam makes a rant video
My favorite part about the tank swapping atm is when playing dps the tanks will come out on lets say zarya vs dva. dva gets rolled for a fight or two so then goes hog. hog is unkillable and somehow farms zarya rn and then the zarya will swap to hog and now the entire game comes down to a hog mirror and there is 0 space for dps and and it's just which hog is better and/or which support can anti or suzu the feeding hog better. sucks ass
other than that, game is in very good spot.

Yeah the new comp system is good but still the same bad matchmaking system especially for solo players
( Edit: Ram could also gain ult in roughly 45 seconds if fed properly, which is very quick for that kind of ultimate)
bro u actually look good with a mustache i hope u keep it
So I like the idea of "rebranding" Overwatch and I think that something like Fortnites OG season might be cool.
I can say I have been having a great time with the game, it is a no-commitment 5v5 multi-player that you can pick up and put down anytime
The gameplay is very smooth, and the animations are crisp.
I guess all the missteps and false promises really bothered the overall community.
its wild people still playing this game

Dropping the ball on pve will never be forgotten. They can invest and build it into the game, but until then the game will never have people playing it just for fun anymore. The gameplay and unique abilities are way too cool to be confined into a PvP sandbox.
Thr rebrand idea would be really simple but si effective at bringing more people back
It’ll never be what it was, but I think it’s improving on what it was at the start of Overwatch 2, it’s getting back it’s mojo and I really hope they revive this to bring it back to massive acclaim
Hear me out, E is a lucio alternate fire mode. Mining lazer, sym beam low damage same range (swap makes a 0.5 second delay)
I walked away from Overwatch a year ago. Nothing could bring me back once a game is dead to me
Sam you are the leading content creator for this game.
If they get rid of push then the game will go in the right direction
I whole heartedly agree with the decision to drop the Overwatch 2 brand and revert back to Overwatch while releasing 6v6 along with a lot of other content on one of the anniversary events.
One good patch and Sam is a new person😭😭🤣 The simulation-
Imagine working on overwatch and constantly having to go to work on a dying game to keep nerds happy
if they dont like it they can just quit lol. no ones forcing them

The competitive ranks too slowly when on win streaks takes like 10 wins in a row to rank up from d2 to m5. Then if you try to play with someone like 1 rank below d4 you'll be in 14 minute queue
At this point I'm waiting for them to drop overwatch classic to play tank again
The game is dull, stale and unimaginative. I can't tell it from the first overwatch after being gone for a couple years. Like this game is stupid and not worth putting a cent of real money into.
I was ASS with Venture. I don’t play DPS either really as my main role is Tank, but I just could NOT get her cooldown rotation down. Definitely need more time to learn.
Same very difficult character for me to play
@@Ronin-kk4bt yeah I always felt like I just was sitting there with no cooldown for extended time. Just need better cooldown disciple
Wait venture is a her?
Support main here who vastly prefers 5v5. I do not like stacking damage mitigation, I think it makes the game extremely unenjoyable to play. I would be fine going back to 6v6 but only if they make tanks damage mitigation noticeable worse than it was in 6v6 previously. I’m happy with giga buffed tanks in 5v5 but in 6v6 I do not want them near the power level they were before.
That goes without saying. Tanks should and would get giga nerfed in OW1 and not a single tank player would complain about it
@@TSGC16 but I don’t mean nerfed from this state.
Plus you’ve now got Queens shout & Ram’s block & all the new damage mitigation put into the game on tank, plus the damage mitigation that supports have picked up in the meantime.
i quit made a video about why i did
I feel like it needs to be said that tanking in Overwatch GOT MY FUCKING DICK HARD!
Dude I'd be so hype if they went back to 6v6
In my opinion T4 also needs to focus on revamping the entire new player experience. I was watching a lot of new players trying out OW for the first time and they are kinda lost what is happening, what the heroes are doing, what the different game modes are, etc. Improving the onboarding will also help to motivate the new players to stay. Let's be honest... The experience for new players can be the worst for them.
The state of Samito’s facial hair is more of a mess than goats with prenerf brig. Bring back the beard mister
Speaking of map design, Ilios could use a little reworking, because good lord what a terrible map that is. I can't think of a single map in any game that is worse. It is so claustrophobic, and you're always bumping into something, or stepping over bumps in the ground, etc. Just a frustrating place to be in.
Take a shot everytime he says: "give you guys your flowers".
TIME TO GET WASTED!
would you support a return of DPS doomfist?
If PvE could've been delivered exactly as promised, it would have justified the lull in major updates for most of 2020-2022
If they couldn't do the skill tree mode but still launched a full campaign in one piece, that wouldn't have justified the slowdown to the live game, but it at least would've been well-received and good enough to justify the Overwatch 2 branding
But launching that campaign as bite sized episodes over the course of several years is just pure rubbish, and cancelling it entirely and eating the sunk cost is preffarable to continuing down that route
New plan rename to overwatch 3 and make it back to 6 Vs 6😂
I love the Questron mustache ❤
Pleaseeeee remove Doomfist as a pointless damn tank
So you either hate the hero or are bad at doomfist cause he's a great tank just a very high skill ceiling one
@@theuigaussor you just have days where you rather one shot people cause it fits his name. Lol
agree make Doomfist dps again so we have 2 tank comp
Plat opinion.
I still wish the dps passive was 20% again and just give tanks immunity.
Killin it with the ‘stache!
saying venture is fun when she's dumb op is kinda..
i am happy that they are changing there battle pass and giveng agency to the player to pick which hero mythic skin theery want
Comp is not why I like OW, it’s how fun it can be in balanced low stress matches, tank is not half bad if you don’t worry about trashy min maxing players acting like tryhards. This game is far more of a strategic team based fps than most but that shouldn’t mean a ton of people act so high and mighty, and it’s getting better I feel
samito: dont worry guys im not gonna complain about 6v6 in this video
samito 10 minutes later: okay so they should just drop the 2 and bring back 6v6 and overwatch is perfect
listen, this may sound insane, but since this is a pro-tank community, what if having "guest" heroes came into the game? what do i mean? well, like mortal kombat, dead by daylight, super smash bros, etc. licensed heroes being new heroes every once in a while, especially for the tank role, can make the role more appealing. someone popular from a film or another video game series coming into the game definitely rebuilds rapport and promotes excitement and interest. i dont mean a skin, an actual playable licensed character with iconic abilities.
"Give flowers" count: 8
Great video though.
