  • The April Fool patch changes every hero in the game, most are silly but a handful could be really cool to see implemented in the competitive game, especially for heroes that are struggling to keep up in Overwatch 2 (yes, I'm looking at you Reinhardt!)     they just need to keep this as a constant mode in the arcade. its fun to blow off some steam with this surprisingly balanced and fun mode

      it's either bounce them or not hit them at all. it's a grazing hit that isnt accurate enough for a pin.

      I ice blocked on Dorado at the same time Rein hit me and Mei in her ice block went flying off the map. Never seen that before. Unless it's an added effect of her April Fools ability.

    i also really liked the DV.a backwards booster idea since you can only use matrix in the direction you're looking, so boosting backward while looking forward would let you cover your retreat. also, the short boost change is cool too, as a sort of quick hop forwards or backwards. Armored Core players will get it

    When I saw the April Fools mode, I was genuinely impressed by how Mercy and Moira's changed genuinely made them more fun/interesting.

      I actually love how the mercy changes feel. No longer am I a damage boost bot now I can attack like a true Valkyrie.

      @@f0kes32 Damage boost bot is an identity? The central defining aspect of mercy's gameplay (her movement) is still intact. I'm confused by the sudden lash.

      ​@@f0kes32 the hero identity of mercy has changed multiple times in Overwatch history and none of them have been super super fun in my opinion. Hide and Seek Mercy, Moth Mercy, and now Damage Boost Pocket Mercy. She needs some sort of change for the better to be more healthy but nobody has every figured out what.

    I'd love if they kept the alternate ultimate lines and inserted them in randomly BUT, to keep things consistent, it's only the player using the ultimate.
    So if you're playing Reaper your allies always hear "Clearing the area," the enemy team always hears "DIE! DIE! DIE!", and you usually hear that as well, but every once in a while you, and only you, hear "Happy Happy Birthday!"

      McCassady had this in a way. He has a secret "my ultimates is ready"- voiceline, where he says "What time is it?". The u can use ult and finish with "Its high noon"
      U can spam the voiceline in practice range until u get it

    We've been robbed: imagine if Mauga increased his damage while walking sideways and WB was the one shrinked down. We could have tried an actual hamster ball running around causing chaos

    The Reflective Shield they gave Reinhardt for this was originally described as being one of Mauga's abilities in the Baptiste short story where Mauga was first introduced. That was written before the series of nerfs that were designed to appease whiny sniper one-tricks, including the nerfing of every shield and 5v5 with solo tanking. In the end Mauga ended up being more like the Talon Heavy Assault Troop from Archives than like he was described in the story, using two chainguns instead of one chaingun and a shield... but figure this is what the ability he was originally conceived with _could_ have been like...

    Genji having a crit deflect is a nice idea in theory, but he shouldn't get to do it with shots that can't do crit damage for their original shooter, e.g. Pharah rockets, Ana biotic rifle darts, Dragonstrike, etc. That said... it would be nice if some of those shots would get a partial-crit effect, e.g. Pharah rockets getting to double the impact portion of the damage but not the splash damage in the rare event of an actual headshot (rare because of how slow and predictably they fly; they're too easy to dodge in many circumstances).

    I'm surprised you didn't mention the Land skill for Pharah. I nice little quality of life movement skill that doesn't make her overpowered, but does give her another survivability option

    Rein deflect is amazing because it only drain shield health. You don't actualy take any damage from the projectiles. Meaning it's also a button that let you have an invincible shield for a set amount of time. That correspond to your shield health in the bigger mode.
    Although a better way I could see this would be to have a 2 sec cool down. And its a parry. Like the new genjy change.
    It would negate every damage for 0.2 sec. And reflect projectile, and slight push back close enemies.

    with rein, I think they should give him an oversheild (blue health) like doom. But make it so it generates on his shield taking damage.

    I thought that Reaper genuinely should have his primary fire like this, it was so fun to play reaper and actually felt like it made sense and added depth to his kit. I could see this being part of his rework if it was tuned!

    I actually like the moria flip of healing and damage. With some minor number tweaks, I would prefer it than what's live.

    DOOMFIST EMPOWERED MELEE SHOULD BE HIS OLD UPPERCUT
    It would add more depth to his playstyle, having to choose between the empowered punch and an uppercut, and more DPS doom nostalgia. Please blizzard

    What if after landing a primary with junk, you can detonate the next nade for like 3 seconds. So it helps with follow up but isn't his primary play style

    I like the idea of a perfect block mechanic deflecting and boosting damage back at the enemy with precise timing, maybe on a future hero.

    The Lucio change 100% should stay, his movement is already stupidly fun but the self-kb from boop would both further increase the movement depth, however id say changing it so that it only does self-kb if it doesn't hit an enemy or if jump/crouch is held, further increasing how mechanically complex the hero is. (Definitely not an excuse for even more crazy rollouts and Lucio shenanigans noooo)

    I have 2 picks and a look into:
    The picks are Sym TP and JQ knife. One for viability, the other for the fun new play style (Dive Queen).
    The look into is the Brig changes, since it technically made her into a tank, and I think it shows Brig in the tank slot is possible.

    I wonder if you could make Rein reflect a skill like parry in Street Fighter/Smash Bros.
    Hold shield plus pressing the attack button reflects projectiles at the cost of a certain % of shield hp.
    Less % if you hit it in a precise frame or make it a critical hit like the Genji skill right now.

    that junkrat secondary fire det thing? yeah, his grandfather, the TF2 Demoman had that from the launch of TF2. Demoman had a second Grenade Launcher that launched Sticky Nades. You could either use it to build a trap, or as a normal weapon, and airburst your nades. You couldnt use it close-range, because the stickies had a small arming time before you could detonate them, but the launcher had a charge-function to allow launching the nades reeealy far.

    The lucio boop was amazing for movement and it would be great to have it. Having the Rein shield being a resource that can be used for other uses is an interesting direction. Torb being to stick his turret to walls should be in live already. Cassidy's wanted mechanic was fun. Soldier and sojourn were great additions to their kit. JQ was a menace

    Reinhardt needs a Defensive mode for when he's shielding so the team can move up with him without him being melted so easily, good in tight choke points and more important for the enemy to keep his shield pressured to prevent the higher defense passive applied.
    Maybe have an alternate firestrike melee that cleaves whatever is front of him.
    If they don't change him that way at least increase armor or something though his playstyle is mainly the issue with everyone else being too mobile or burst capable.

    I dont know if doom should keep that buff but I do like the idea of various heroes getting some other status effect on their melee, like rein being able to swap status effects on his hammer. But also, give heroes the option to equip knives just for visual so we can get various knife skins.

    As for ideas to stay, I like the Tesla arc lightning on Winstons secondary fire, I hope they add a punch to Primal Rage so you can combo with a knock back and punch to really focus a target down better.
    And Echo could be more strategic by copying allies as well as enemies, just reduce her cool downs so she's less effective in neutral to compensate for potential buffs.

    For genji's deflect, I'd say have the "parry happen for damage that hits the deflect for the first 0.3 seconds. You can parry once, adding a cool skill expression without going nuts

      Honestly that would be awesome but deflect would need at least 300ms of rollback; there have simply been too many times where you perfectly deflect something and it no regs, or it makes the audio cue but doesn't actually happen in the server.

    I honestly like Dva being able to fly backwards, since she can retreat under fire with defensematrix facing the enemy. Also I like the additional flight cancel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in the live version you can only cancel her flight after a certain time, so really short boosts are not really possible, eg getting up the ledge to the healthpack just outside attacker's spawn on Gibraltar.

    I’ve had a ton of fun with Junker Queen being pulled to Gracie. While I think this ability is too strong on JQ, I’d love to see something similar on a new hero. I mean, I wouldn’t complain if JQ got to keep this ability in actual play, but being able to fly literally anywhere for a close range character like her gives her an easy way to engage and disengage. But having a hero who can throw projectiles, and then zip towards them would be really fun.

    Crazy random thought but maybe instead of reflecting they could do something like have rein root himself down in place but his shield gets some some buff whether it be having an increased amount of Hp or passive regeneration while deployed to help him either hold down a corner or get his team rotate across LoS

    Echo needs duplicated ultimate charge buffed anyway, since they haven't done anything to help it over the last couple times there was a global ult charge nerf and its gotten to the point where you almost never get an ult, or at least a full duration on one.

    Maybe reinhardt’s shield should be a toggle ability similar to nemesis form with ramattra. When the shield is active reinhardt’s abilities change and give him more options. Then when the button to shield is pressed again, he returns to fire strike and charge. Also maybe they should give him an ability tied to his melee since his primary fire is a melee.

    I’m a junkrat player myself and this April fools rework I secured a lot of kills like a normal dps. It does not matter how much they threw me in the sewer. I am still trickshotting a echo midair with a risk of dying of everything else.

    Take out reins cool down on fire strike and change it to where after absorbing 200 damage he gets another still with only 2 max maybe even 3?

    The Junkrat one definitely feels negligible. It can be that 10-30 damage needed to finish a target, but more often than not doesn't do anything.
    Its only utilization is marginally improving the near miss with a skill detonate. He'll need a bit more if they want to make him viable with how strong hitscans are.

    I think the shield deflect shouldn't drain health from the shield. Maybe the deflect option could work as a secondary part of his shield, with a cooldown, like Shield bash, where he like, presses ctrl and the shield deflects enemy fire in the direction he's looking at for a very short period. Maybe the shield shines brighter or emanates a light from the borders of the shield to signify it's deflecting

    It feels like they actually considered this Rein change for live since they took time trying to balance the new ability by reducing the shield health: this seems fair and encourages more active thinking of how exactly you want to use your shield.

    Rein changes- Earth shatter is now a cool down. Distance is reduced. Ult is raging tornado- he spins with his axe and can move (not sure of speed) and can launch firestrikes with a 250 HP or armor increase.

    I'm going to keep pitching we need to change charge
    Make it a resource. Add an effect that requires a minimum travel time.
    Remove pin and scoop. Keep boop. Keep counter charge maybe? (idk how I'm sorry deva)
    Instead. So long as the minimum distance is reached the next input is where that stored kinetic energy goes
    M1 makes a mini shatter. Single target stun that needs the hammer crit.
    M2 gives an hp boost to the shield (maybe a reflect on redeploy for a short. Time? (2-7 seconds should cover most ult timers)
    Firestrike... I know we just got the tiny damage buff. I don't want numbers. I want GAMEPLAY.
    Make firestrike wide. Not tall. A swipe. Not a slice. Size differs with stored kinetic energy
    Rein is all about comfort of feel. I hesitate to. Rework. The character entirely. The resin I've worded the suggestion as such is to maintain a lot of the normal charge traversal mechanics we have now. The next input after charge could be set to a timer after charge ends. Can't stack that charge forever. Use it or loose it.
    (i also think use it or lose it might be an interesting general rule to apply to some of the heroes in the cast as far as how their abilities work. (junk triple mine is an example of something that shouldn't be messed with when addressing something like that tho)

    Maybe Rein's shield should get some kind of beneficial status effect for either himself, his teammates or both. Something to help push forward and make room, while also trying to maintain the shields HP efficiently to make proper use of it, Also since you didn't mention it, I thought the new Pharah ability to rapidly descend was pretty nice. Really gives more mobility and choices for the character. Like quickly taking cover to avoid a widow, or so.

    As a Widow Player, Every change I've asked for her to get to fix her gameplay loop, has now been Added with this patch. 200HP, Better falloff, and now she has Grapple buffs to speed her mobility up to equalize with the roster. She feels FANTASTIC!!!

    Maybe not *every* virus kill but Sombra's at least EMP should spread virus somehow. Especially considering they didn't buff virus damage with the global HP increase.

    The moira one, IS something they should consider keeping but tuning, Healing so u can do high dmg burst will make DPS moira need to heal and have more value to said damage, and will help with times where u just cant be close enough with the Normal heal moira already has,

    I fully support the Junkrat change, not just because it's better for the Junkrat player to be able to actually do damage to their target, but because one of the most frustrating things about playing AGAINST Junkrat is all the random spam grenades lying around behind the front line. If he can blow those up on his actual target, it means they're not sitting around waiting to explode random passersby.

    I would keep, obviously sensible versions of, the Winston secondary shot, Sombra virus, Torb turret, Genji deflect, Illari's passive and Widow's hook. Those seemed fun and not completely broken/ridiculous. And pocket Mauga FTW!

    There should be more melee passives.
    Hznzo could have additional melee damage if he is currently holding an arrow above 70 percent charge. Making flanking, corner strafing, and wall climbing a bit safer.
    Illiary and genjy should have an actual sword swing. Basicly a Brigitte flail. But like slower. Just a larger melee since they have a sword.
    Orisa could have her melee reduce her overheat if it land.
    Pharz could have a melee that scaled based on speed. So falling or dashing would do more damage. Even tho that's the laziest idea yet. It's always fun.
    But I feel like most heroes wouldn't gte more than more damage based on their main ability. Like zarias could do more damage based in charge. Or even charge her.
    So here are some more extreme ones.
    Rein could have a melee that is just a faster hit in a hammer swing. Melee still swing the hammer when resting. But if you are in a swing rein would spike you with the other hammer end, that does the standard 40 damage. Making it a quick finish, with maybe even more lag than regular melee.
    Junk could stick a smaller mine on his enemy. With a 20 sec CD. Can blow it up like any other explosive.
    Hog could. Punch you back after a hook. And knock you into enemies. Basicly a stun less road hog punch or Orisa javelin.
    Baptist could use that jump charge tou bump you and him in opposite directions. By kicking, maybe even mid air.
    Mei could have her wall be punchable by any teammate when low on health to break it and trow shards the other way.
    Tracer could have her melee amen again after a few sec at the position you where in.
    Kiriko could melee allies to get a team jump.
    Idk I'm just going wild rn.

    I think Cassidy feels so flavourful with his «wanted» passive. Would love to see that added to the game, but have the health gain be a lot less per kill.

    being honest, ramattra's nemesis form damage increase could work alright, knowing that ramattra has problems right now doing anything else thats not blocking and contesting points, its not a bad idea to give him more aggressive potential

    I think the Torb turret change would be fine despite the weird out of bounds places you might be able to throw it or placing it on other people's heads. Being able to throw a turret on the ceiling doesn't sound unreasonably OP but maybe it is in Bronze or Silver
