Hello Friends! In this video I take a look at the Fluval UVC unit. From the video you can see that it clears the green water pretty well! Obviously UV's are meant to work in conjunction with a good filter so that last bit of murkyness would have been cleared up by adding a bigger filter and fine filter media. I didn't add a new filter to the test tub because I wanted to only add one new factor to the experiment i.e the UVC. If I added a new filter as well I wouldn't have been able to tell if it was the filter of the UVC which cleared the water!
Can you add one of these to the 306 that's attached to a fluval shaker? I just got one (based on your reviews!) It's for my rescue fancy goldfish and I'm wondering if it would fit under there?
Hello, thanks for the video. I have a couple of questions, please, I appreciate your help. 1) What happens if instead of placing the UVC filter in a horizontal position (like a T), I place it rather vertically (rotating 45 degrees). 2) Could the UVC bulb be kept on for 24 continuous hours and everything would happen fine? *30000 hours / 24 hours per day = 1250 days (3.4 years of supposed performance)
I have been running one of these on my fluval Roma 240 for over a year along with other things it maintains excellent water and also helps prevent disease in ur tank . Good review 👍
Sold!🎉 I wanted to see a proper review before I hit purchase on Amazon. This is the furs one that does a fantastic job of showing the quality of the unit the other videos seemed more interested in self promotion and unboxing. Thank you 🙏🏼🌹
always a pleasure watching your videos and now you have cleared it up on the fluval UV, i might just go and buy one now to combat my algae from the macro nutrients i add for my heavily planted tank :) keep up the brilliant tips
I had a koi pond that was green. Added a uv and it killed all the green pea soup. Left a solid layer of dead algae dust on the bottom. Didnt have a bottom drain so every water change i did on my pond, id keep moving the pump all around the bottom so it basically vacuumed it all up. So yeah, UV works great for algae. Looking for a good uv for my fish tank, no algae but i want added protection with killing bacteria/parasites.
PSA: If you are dosing Iron (Fe) in your aquarium, think again about installing this UV because in most of the Iron fertilizers that exist out there, it destroys the elements that help it dissolve slowly and be easy to enter the plants’ cells. Twinstar or Chihiros doctor do the same anyway but in smaller scale and more slowly.
Happy with my UV, though I don't recommend 24hr use. I think if you had put it on 24hr, it would have cleared in a few days and then you can dial it back to maybe 8 hrs. If 12hr constant use is working for you though, I say, Cheers.
Thanks for watching. I agree 24hrs probably would have been more effective. I chose 12hrs purely as it's middle of the road for the unit, and would allow the UVC to last longer than 3 years due to the non replacement bulb. However I personally would run it 24hrs if it were not a test situation, and I will do when I add it to one of my main tanks.
Likewise I have UVs on all my tanks. Obviously you have less maintenance for water purification and clarity, hence a healthier aquatic life and ultimate aquarium viewing beauty. I am baffled too but bear in mind not everyone understands the Physics of electromagnetisms and photonics and the power of electromagnetic force from the spectrum of ultraviolet light if used in the right way.
Actually yes an no because beneficial bacteria adhere to the insides of the tank and everywhere water touches, I e. Bio rings, glass, rocks. The sterilizer will kill the white free floating bacteria!! It does work I've used this one almost 2 years and also had another brand for about 3 years before that.
I have one but its missing the inline timer, do you think it will still power on if I bypass the timer and connect the clarifier straight to the power supply?
Hello, I have a 90 liter planted aquarium, there is a Jbl e 701 external filter that turns 700 liters per hour on it. With this product, is this UV filter enough for a planted aquarium?
Can you regulate the flow of the fx4? Because I don't think the fx2 can be slowed down, but I do believe that you can reduce flow rate on the fx4. I'm trying to pick a filter for a 75 gallon, and I'm thinking the fx4 is the most sensible choice all around.
Yes you can adjust flow on the fx4. They reccomend you don’t go lower than 50% though. I can’t see you would need to slow the flow much on a 75gal though. I got the spray bar for my fx4 and drilled the holes out slightly to make it less powerful but still pump the max volume of water. You can also get the fc uvc that is made to handle the higher flow in the uv
Can you tell me what pump/filter you used. I'm wanting a spraybar without having to use a canister, so wondering what pump/filter that is that will accept the fluval oem tubing
It’s a bit of a blunder by Fluval. I don’t even have any extra sheet in the box telling that it should be positioned in a happy T face but an upside down T as in the original manual. Mine must be the earlier batches. I was bound to know the correct position of installing the unit only after watching your video. Repositioning the unit is a breeze. It’s true though the flow rate is faster with the T position as the water hit the unit going down the curve and up again instead of hitting the unit going up and down the curve. BTW thanks a bundle for all your very informative videos and your British accent is superb!
Ok dude, I don't get shit from anyone. I use it in my 75 gallon, heavily stocked and after a water change if I get white bacterial bloom it wipes it out in about 2 hours. No b.s.!! If I didn't have this it would take 4 days for the bloom to settle! You make the call!!!

Greatest voice of a fish channel
Thanks
Of course it works. Good to see proof. My pond needs a UV filter itself.
I'm thinking you could buy pond one for cheaper that's replaceable.
Much, much bigger needed for agood size pond!!!

Thanks as you can see it works pretty well
Great bench test video and a fine endorsement of this unit bud.
Thank you, I'm glad it came off that way
Wow that works really well, looks like a good solution for a simple UV setup
Yeah It does
The green machine worked for me cleared it all in 2 days
Nice

Fantastic! Great film. Thank you for sharing just got our unit hope it does as great as yours. Aloha
Clear cut and to the point. Great video mate.
Thanks
thank you so much for the test, its justified my purchase on this product 🙏🤗🤗
You've been justified!

Would it be feasible to dose iron through daylight hrs, and run the uvc 8-10hrs overnight ?
Wow. Absolutely brilliant.
tank is solid green and he puts it on for 12 hours. seriously leave it on until the tank is cleared then put it on timer mode to maintain clarity.

Awesome
Always watch ur videos I have one on way from Germany so now I no it works u showed proff
Thanks I appreciate it!
Brilliant! I need one for my green tank 😅
You certainly do
Ever tried a clear tank? Isn't it hard too see through green glass?
@@100bgeagle ooh yes! That might help 😁
I have UV on all my tanks. Always been perplexed that some people have downer on using them.
They are good pieces of kit

Does anyone know is it possible to buy that short hose? Any part code for that?
I use a ehiem reeflex uv on my fluval 407

does it also kill/clear brown algae or diatoms?
Holy cow!! That was an awesome video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can you teach me some karate moves?

Thinking of trying this Fluval UV. Its been over a year for your tank; what has been the development as to water clarity ?
Does this pump its own water through it?
Fluval says only to use it like a T shape as in picture and not to use it upsidevdown
Yes they do in the instructions as that is the best way to avoid bubbles being trapped at low flow.

@@joharisalim8484 low flow? I ram my 2 filters at high speed!! No low flow for me!!!
I love mine, set at 4 hrs and reset at water change, no green, or white bact blooms!!!
Can this be used on a black water tank with tannins? Does this only remove algae or would it remove tannins?
Thanks!
It won't remove tannins. Best way to remove tannins is water changes. Seachem purigen can help massively too.
For being a bloody Englishman, your a pretty good mate!!!
Would this help with algae on the tank glass, or stop it occuring?
It's more for green water
You can't getaway with that!!!! Get your sponge out and scrub your glass!!!!
How do i know if its on and working after installation
I use the ehiem reeflex
Is there a life span for the uv unit?
30,000 hours. So if you only run it 4 hours a day it will last 20 years.
Is this only for freshwater aquarium?
No
Daphnia would clean it up and keep it clean naturally
It's also clears bacterial blooms!
Keep lights on for too long also causes algae blossom..
Got to ask, is this a paid review? I'm so skeptical of RUclips reviews after finding out after the fact they were given money to give a review.
Not paid. I wanted to see if it worked

@@100bgeagle I’ve had it for a few months. Seems to work. I’m naturally skeptical but always appreciate real words by real people. Thank you.
Instructions show. Happy face and sad face you installed it sad face. 😔 fluval shows this way on the box. But in manual it says no. Fyi
I've got mine installed sideways and it works like a bomb!!
