    My wife got the RAV 4 SE & she loves it! I like the way it handles, two tone paint, & two tone black rims.

    Well done review and I appreciate the lack of bias in it, despite being Honda Laura. I own and have owned both brands. Generally I would characterize the Hondas as being sportier and arguably more bang for your buck. Toyotas are generally more refined with a little better fit and finish but at a higher cost. At the end of the day you won't go wrong with either of these.
    Now that the Camry has been radically redesigned. I look forward to the 10th Gen Accord. I imagine it is around the corner.

    RAV4 also has Toyota safety sense plus standard. But it doesn't have blind spot monitor standard on XLE it just has blond spot mirrors , which work pretty well actually lol! Anyway, great video as always, HL

    Über-instructional video, Honda Laura!! We are looking to purchase a new compact SUV and these two are at the top of the list! (Duhhhhh!) Your comparison review (Love your genuine but "cute as a button" astonishment in the evaluation of the RAV4's back seat comfort!!) has made us consider the CR-V a lot more seriously after having a disappointing experience at one of OUR Honda dealerships yesterday! (Yes! Thankfully there ARE more than ONE dealership to visit and we shall!) Keep those great videos coming and many thanks to the Herb Chambers dealerships for their cooperation!

      Impeccable timing, Laura!!! Because.....guess what WE bought yesterday!! Yep! A white 2017 CR-V EX!!! It should come off the truck this Thursday!! You were so right... "Amazing! Super comfortable!" All those awesome improvements AT such a reasonable price! Again, your video really helped educate us in regards to the differences! So...sorry, Toyota! It's Honda this time!

    I've always been a Toyota guy but I've got to admit, they've been getting lazy with updating their vehicles. Since the current gen Rav came out there's been 2 or 3 refreshes of the CRV. The only thing I really prefer about the Rav is that it doesn't have a CVT

    Thanks Honda Laura . . . you did real well (and you looked good doing it)! I totaled my 2011 Honda Element a few months ago, and in spite of an extremely violent collision in which both front AND side curtain air bags activated, it protected me perfectly. Plus the insurance company gave me a check for over $15,000.

    Well done. I drive a '15 CR-V now. I like the CVT transmission and experience no rubberband effect as some other brands may have. Some things are driver subjective. I will be buying a new '18 CR-V soon. The standard Honda Sensing is a winner! Thank you Laura for the video review.

      Thanks, I like both cars. To me, the Apple CarPlay in the dash of the Honda is awesome, and the interior in general wins out. But, the Toyota RAV4 hybrid is really cool in that it has more power than the standard gas model, and more fuel economy as well, for only $700 over the XLE gas model.

    We just bought the 2017 Honda CRV LX AWD. The Base model LX is very well equipped and doesn't have the awkward touch screen and the 17 inch Aluminum wheels look nicer. I personally like the simpler design of the base Models controls. Used to own a 2012 CRV LX AWD before this new purchase. The rear seats do recline in the Honda as well. :)

  • @95thRiflesOCI
    @95thRiflesOCI 7 лет назад +2

    Honda really up the game this year....literally. 8 inches of ground clearance basically trumps all but Subaru and some other no name JEEP brand. Otherwise it is more powerful and offers every feature set you could imagine. Rav4 has stuck to a more affordable concept this year offering enhance safety features standard on all trims and the more luxury features on its top trim which gives everyone a sense of practicality. If you can afford it and don't mind not having an all-around view camera and settling for Honda lane watch which is on the wrong side of the car *needs to be both sides* then go with the CRV. If you want something affordable with many bell's and whistles then get the Rav4

  • @evandanielsson1347
    @evandanielsson1347 7 лет назад

    I do appreciate that you didn't bad mouth the RAV4 a bunch. I was hesitant to watch this at all but was pleasantly surprised. I wish you would have talked about the standard Toyota Safety Sense (adaptive cruise, LDA, etc.) in the RAV4 like how you talked about the similar features in the CRV. And, the XLE doesn't have LED taillights. That's SE and higher. :)

    I researched both models and priced out multiple dealerships. The end result was my purchase of a 2017 CRV. If you're stuck deciding which one is the better option, do some research on Honda Sensing technology. In short, it is basically autopilot, all you have to do is steer the car, braking and acceleration is all controlled by the vehicle. I just drove 8 hours in my new crv and it was the easiest driving experience in my life. Honda sensing is worth it alone in the CRV.

      My Toyota Rav 4 2016 has technology. Great backup camera, Bluetooth which links up nicely with my iPhone.
      Bells and whistles are fun but the most important part of an auto for me is reliability.
      Any auto will get you to 100,000 miles, but few will get you to 200,000 and beyond without breaking the bank paying for repairs.
      I have not read anywhere that the CVT will outlast the Toyota 6 speed transmission.
      That is a big deal more than which has the nicest interior.
      If your CVT goes out at 150,000 miles and the Toyota 6 speed is designed and documented to last 250,000 miles which is the better investment?
      I drive 10,000 miles per year and an extra 100,000 miles will give me 10 more years without a car payment.

    How much does the turbo repair after the warranty on the honda engine cost?

    • @cdmoore1974
      @cdmoore1974 7 лет назад

      A OEM turbo could cost as low as $500 to $2000 depending on where you get it from. Labor cost vary from $300 to $600 depending on if it's a independent shop or dealer. Because I see this engine/turbo being popular in the CR-V (and Civics) you may have better and cheaper options going aftermarket instead of paying list price through a dealer.
      I personally do all my repair work but I would expect that a turbo would be in the top 8 most expensive repairs (engine, transmission, AC compressor, head gasket, catalytic converter, ect).
      I guess if you don't pick a turbocharged engine that's one less thing that could go wrong. That's why I try to avoid V6/V8 engines due to more complexity but a turbocharge for me is not as bad labor wise, just that the part is expensive.

    Love the new CR-V. It looks really nice, especially at night...The RAV4 also looks nice, but I wish they had used a better grille. If it had a different grille, then it would look alot better in the front... Toyota is the only car company I can think of , that has different grilles on each of their cars... There is no family resemblance like other car companies.

    CRV is the most sold SUV worlwide in the last 20 years. The rest is jsut talking. This doesn't mean RAV4 is not an excellent car.

      Definitely. I am a little bit subjective since I have a 2017 (new, 5000 km done in 3 months) Honda CRV. Automatic, gasoline. It is delightful to drive it.

    i am a toyota fan, and the rav4 is japan made, with the 6 speed auto. and toyota has better reliability. But the engine has not enough power.
    I think in 2019 its gonna be redone with new engine and 8 speed automatic.
    BUT THIS HONDA LOOKS BETTER! I dont like cvt transmissions.

    Got Rav4 for a couple of weeks, I think it was a low version since it came with a key, so disappointed. The engine is not smooth as CRV, especially when it comes to acceleration, a bit louder, but not faster, smaller cargo that slightly stiff toward the back, very little.

    The CR-V EX is the best trim to get. I have 2015 model and I really love it. When stepping up from the base trim, the Rogue, CX-5, CR-V all offer push button start, but the RAV4 and Forester don't.
