As soon as she opened hood and couldn't find where to put hood prop on RAV4, I knew which one she would pick.and then opened hood on Honda and was relieved to find arrow decal for the prop like that was the deciding factor right there.

I really like the walk-up and open the door feature and the pushbutton start on my 2014 Civic, and bought a used 2015 CR-V exactly like this earlier today for a 2nd car. It's nice that it has so much in common with my Civic. Great road visibility front and back too.

@@aushwelen A diesel is a whole different animal. You really can only find out with a test drive. Even among the same exact CR-Vs some will have it, probably most don't.

Main difference is do you want a 6 speed auto transmission or a CVT transmission. Will a CVT last as long? I don't really know.

is the rav4 higher ground clearance then the honda crv?
I went to a local Honda dealer to try out 2015 CR-V to check out the vibration issue. Yes, I feel quite a bit of vibration while in idle state.
I'm thinking of buying a 2015-16 CRV diesel. What is this vibration problem? What is the current situation?
Hey Honda Laura good review. You didnt really cover how easy it was to get things into the cars. Do they have the automatic lift gate systems? Do the seats fold down manually or automatically, how easily. Also do they offer rear seat entertainment systems for the crumbsnatchers. Are there rear climate controls? I know my questions are more about the passengers and hauling minions. Oh one last question which SUV had the rear door handles higher, by the glass. I think that was a nice feature.

***** We kind of compared the HRV to the RAV4 since we were not big fans of the CRV styling and there really is no comparison. RAV4 is roomier, has better suspension and more HP than HRV, but the RAV4 was only $1k more OTD to a comparably equipped HRV (sunroof, etc). I think the HRV is charging a premium (i.e. not budging on price) due to the catchy ad campaign they have going.
Dang this is so tough. I hate the exterior of the crv and I like the interior and I like the exterior of RAV4 but hate the interior. Da heck wrong with me

I actually like both the interior and exterior of the Rav 4. The interior looks like a futuristic, retro space ship. Guess I like those vintage looks.
Great comparison. We had to make that exact choice, and went with the CRV. Very happy with it. Only down side is that there is no Financing incentive with the CRV, like the 0% 5-year RAV 4 offer, which can add $$$$ if you are financing.

I think she might be doing too much hand movement ...
when you drive these vehicles back to back you'll get the impression that the Rav4 is a V6 compared to Crv.i test drove both and Laura is right,Honda is sluggish it needs a lot of gas pedal to move while Toyota is effortless even with "normal" drive mode.Imagine driving in busy Cut n thrust situation or even simple freeway merging or passing,you'll feel frustrated with the noisy CVT.Driven on the same rough freeway road,Rav4 is a lot quieter and easier to drive felt nimble than Crv.

Some of you ask about automatic lift gate systems in CRV, yes CRV touring does offers automatic lift gate systems.

These comments got me cracking up lol people really asking about your relationship status lol anyways I LOVE the inside of the RAV4 and I Love the outside of the CRV. I like the Honda lane and heated seats with push to start however the Toyota ride is so much smoother and faster like you said. If I had to choose I'll prob choose the limited rav4 which would have the push to start that it lacks from the CRV EX and the heated seats. :)) Toyota Bryan

I know many dealers compare to the Chevy Trax/Buick Encore, the Mazda CX3, the Kia Soul, the Jeep Renegade, Nissan Juke and the Mini Countryman. Would love to know how it compares for cargo for sure and driving characteristics.

Great review the girl is pretty! I test drove the honda crv ex today with same bell and whistles in the video. The ride was pretty good and the technology are up a notch. Coming from a owner of subaru turbocharged car, I think it's awesome. During the test drive, I turn my signal to the right and the right exterior camera activate which is awesome. In my opinion, I feel like the crv is more "business" looking class comparing to rav4. Hope that make sense haha.

I'd buy the rav4 for the power lift gate, cheaper and a utilitarian vehicle but honda is more flashy
rav4 xle, cuz I own it and love it. engine could've been 3.5L V6 but 2.4L v4 means less speeding tickets. lol

All a matter of taste, both nice cars. I'm a Toyota loyalist and never had a Honda, I love my 2016 RAV4 Limited Hybrid.
I'll choose honda even i own a rav 4 2005 i bought it new and im not satisfied with the handling of rav 4. Im planning to buy honda crv next time, thanks for your good video of comparison!

Hi Laura. This is a nice comparison. I've watched many reviews, and they said that the CR-V can accelerate faster than the RAV4. On this video, you say that the RAV4 is quicker off the line. I just wonder if you mean the throttle response of the RAV4 is more responsive than the CR-V, that's why it feels quicker? That's kinda odd, because I have 2011 Camry SE V4 and 2014 Highlander V6. I have to put a lot of pressure on the gas pedals on both cars in order for them to go. Unlike my dad's 2001 Civic with 1.7L engine, I always feel it's quicker off the line with little touch on the gas pedal.

Hard choice . Both cars are fine externally but I prefer the more classic look of Toyota . Yet the interior ( steering wheel , dashboard ) of the CR-V is sleeker , the RAV is a bit dull inside . The CR-V seats don' t look very generous .
Considering the smart conception of vtec engine , finally I would go for the CR-V .

Overall, I like the Honda a little better. But there are some items I wished the Honda had-.knobs to control the stereo. I like the RAV-4's tail lights better. I think both should have more horsepower.
On the RAV-4, I hate the seats. If I am paying $27,000- $33,000 for a vehicle, it should have real leather seats.

Does the 2014 CRV have the vibration as well? I heard that the problem started when Honda used the exact engine and transmission from the 2013 Accords on the 2015 CRVs.

You seemed to comment more positives about the RAV4 but still picked Honda... maybe a tad biased? ;-) Bought the RAV4 XLE recently and love it. Toyota will also be more flexible on price from my experience.

for... best resale value,reliability and best design.... I will go with rav4..I have driven both of those cars...both are really good cars...but I felt CRV little lazy .and I don't like the front chrome on CRV...But Lane watch is really useful feature from CRV.

Rav 4 looks quite dated the crv looks like the future it may have a stiffer suspension but to me i like that cause you get kinda like the "racecar" feeling

Honda's are nice, but will all the issues with their AWD system (Consumer Reports) and the CVT trans. Id go with the Toyota...oh wait...I already did..:) Bought it this weekend and love it..:)

Both are nice. Toyota makes the best TRUCKS out there, meaning the Tacoma and Tundra. Honda makes the best cars out there. Seeing as these are both cars, Honda gets the nod,.. IMHO!

matt4270 the best trucks comes from FORD not Toyota.. I'd take the CRV over this Rav4 since they dropped the V6 engine..
fords are junk. The utility contractor I work for has everything from f-150s, to f-750s, and we have nothing but trouble with them. Buy what you want,.. but ford will never see a dime from me!
matt4270 hahahaha just because the trucks you got at work are garbage doesn't mean every F-150 is. Look it up, the best trucks comes from north america not japan. stick that to your head..
We have hundreds of trucks at work, and the failure/ high shoptime rate on the fords is around 85%. Even the dodge rams are better, which is embarrassing, and the chevy/gmcs are much better. These are real world facts, not magazine or video reviews.

CRV has better proportion and it has more aggressive look. Maybe it's not in my type of car which indicates some emotions but I would buy it as a boring but very comfort and practical daily. Front window has beter angle, and thanks of that worse air resistance and thanks of that worse fuel economy, but clearer view.

The music is too loud
Drove both Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4. Honda seat positions are up higher and more comfortable then the Toyota and Honda is more powerful acceleration. The Honda also feels like it is built better and has more cargo and backseat room. My choice is my 2015 Honda CRV EX-L in White Diamond Pearl with black leather

Laura you forgot to tell them ,CRV better handling, quieter, smoother, fit and finish also top knot, RAV4 uses cheap plastic, CRV offers more power and better gas mileage, EX and above comes standard with right turn camera and land watch, 7 in smart phone like touch screen display audio, HDMI port, trunk cover and floor mats come standard no extra charge, with equivalent equipped , CRV is about $800 less. LED DRL is standard on EX and above

Don't forget about safety, the Toyota is way safer and offers more airbags; also you get 2 years/25,000 miles of free maintenance with the Rav4. Oh and tell Android users how well their phones will work in the Honda....

BTW I own Honda Pilot and 10 years old CRV, Honda Pilot is just 4 years old 2012 Model and just 55K Miles and got transmission issue.
Honda CRV been my wife favorite SUV and been driving for more than 10 years without much issues.
So we were in market for compact SUV.
So tell you what Honda Laura, I test drive 2016 Rav4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rouge and Murano, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester.
All things considered Honda CR-V is really good looking and better compact SUV, but driving experience of Rav4 is much better also, the interior of Rav4 are better quality and bit roomy.
Mazda CX-5 is between Honda CRV and Rav4, but the one stand out was Subaru Forester though I never owned one before I am really planning on getting Subaru this time.
So my rating after test drive these cars, considering all things including price, looks, resale value and interiors.
Subaru Forester=Rav4> Honda CRV> Mazda CX-5 > Nissan Rogue.
SO Honda Laura really waiting for your response.
So that I can decide whether to go with CRV or you:)
