I used Latisse for a long time, it caused edema in the back of my eye and had a hole in the back of my eye which changed my vision and had to have surgery. It is a side effect and not a common one. I loved the long lashes but not worth the side effect I had.

Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering about your thoughts on the Dr. Lara Devgan Platinum Long Lash. It seems to be safe to use but I'm honestly afraid of all these side effects and want to know if they are possible with this product, as well. Here is the ingredient list: Water, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3, Butylene Glycol, Trifolium Pratense/ Clover Flower Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17, Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Panthenol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hydroxide, Dextran, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol

Thank you very much for this informative video. I’ve used Rodan and Fields for two years now with no ill effects and it has certainly made my lashes longer. I was looking into changing to GrandeLash as it is less expensive. I feel much more comfortable giving it a try now because of its similarity to Lash Boost.

One of your commenters claimed Latisse caused a hole in the back of her eye causing vision loss. I worked at a large retina practice for 9 years. Applying an eye drop to your lashes will not cause a macular hole!
Absolutely correct! Some cases of macular edema with prostaglandins which I think is what the comments must have been referring to. Sometimes you can get a macular pseudo hole with edema, so that's what I assumed the commentor meant.
@@DrRupaWong Your response to this comment does not make sense considering the response you gave the aforementioned commenter "a breeze" that reported the referred side effect. Dr. Rupa Wong I worked with a girl that mixed jojoba oil and cold pressed castor oil. She said it worked and I did notice her lashes were longer and fuller. I know both of these oils have wonderful benefits, but do you have any insight on applying them to your lash line? I don’t want to go blind!
No study which shows topical biotin is effective for lashes BUT there was one study which used it in combination with minoxidil (Rogaine) and some other chemicals for male alopecia. So, might be!
Thanks for breaking down the ingredients! In all seriousness though, my coworker used grande lash and it did literally grow her lashes. All her lashes fell out due to something that is escaping my memory.. and it took a few months to regrow them

Hello, LOVE your videos! They are SO informative. I am inquiring about Latisse because it causes hair growth, however, when discontinued the hair growth gradually returns to previous appearance. If so, what would you recommend? Thanks! ♥️
Yes unfortunately once you stop using it, it does return back to your usual lash length. I know some people have a lot of success with lash conditioners, though they haven't been proven to decrease lash loss. I actually stopped using everything and am just giving my lashes a break!
If you quit any serum the lashes eventually go back to normal. But once your lashes are where you want them to be you can just use the serum every other day, 1x a day or every 2 days, so it's much cheaper.
Thank you. I just ordered the Grande Lash in the mail. This is excellent information to have. I also purchased organic castor oil for eyelash conditioner. I’ve only been applying it sporadically. Is that safe to put on your eyelashes?

Yes, I’ve heard this too and really want her insight on this matter!!! I would love to try these lash serums and have longer lashes, but not at the expense of changing the fat around my eyes and making me look older 😬
@@jgalt5002 there’s no clear data on what percentage of people that happens to apparently but I read some dermatologist said it happens to all people to varying degrees . My lashes were phenomenal but unfortunately it sucked the fat from underneath my eyes as well as gave me dark circles

Is there any way to surgically correct orbital fat atrophy and continue using latisse and revitalash? I do not want my lashes to get shorter , or is it worth it to save for eyelash transplants ?
I considered using latisse but am concerned about the "orbital fat atrophy" that you mention in your video. I have found that as I age, my face looks more drawn and gaunt than it used to, so I don't want to use anything that will emphasize this aspect. How prevalent is this side effect and is it something I should be worried about? Do the other serums you mention also have this issue?
Hey awesome video it was very informative. Do you know if the lash serums cause darkness& orbital fat loss because it gets absorbed into the skin and somehow transfers to other areas? Or is it because incorrect application? Can the darkness & orbital fat loss be prevented if I add like an under eye patch or Vaseline as a barrier between my skin and the chemical?
So that's what I used to recommend and what I did personally - applied Vaseline to the lower lid to prevent absorption, but it's not guaranteed. The orbital fat atrophy was when the drop was instilled in the eye, so probably less likely to happen with correct application, but still a possibility.
What do you suggest for lower eyelashes? My problem is that I have missing lash hairs on my left lower eyelid. There is not any lashes there which makes it a bit odd since I have long lashes elsewhere
Love the information! So educational! Can u please do a video on babelash serum, its getting a lot of hype and I wanted to know the side effects and if it’s safe to use, Please and thank you!
I don't think it works. I've had two tubes and am using it every other day, with grande lash every other day and my lashes are staying the same. The serums say to use every day 1 or 2x a day then when you get to where you're happy, or they won't grow anymore, you can just use it every other day. So, my point is that my lashes are not growing anymore, and if babe lash worked, then my lashes would be a little bit longer, because rn they are about 90% of how long and thick I know they can grow, and they are just staying at 90%. But that's just my opinion, and tbh, I started with Lash Food and that didn't work either, then went to Grande and that's when my lashes started really growing. Now I'm using Babe lash and grande and when my Grande runs out I'm going to use Neulash, which I kinda hope doesn't work as well, Because it's too damn much. Lol. Point is, some serums work diff for diff people. Maybe try babe lash, it can't really hurt, unless you get side effects. The worst one I had was my eye was a Lil itchy and was a little pink where I put it,but after my eyes got used to it, it didn't happen anymore. It lasted on and off for like 2 or 3 weeks, not every day though.
can you please explain why the active ingredient in latisse doesn't increase melanin in blue/green eyes but only brown eyes? is it because the former lacks melanin to begin with, and it can't create melanin?
Hii! I loved your video, it was really helpful! I've been using Nanolash for approximately a month and a half, and I think I might have developed dry eye. I just noticed today that I can keep my eyes open for more than a minute without them watering and I know that eyelash serums can cause it, but I don't really know if it's dangerous and if I should stop using the serum or not. I don't feel any discomfort in my eyes, maybe they just feel slightly blurry (?) and they look normal. Oh, and also because of the serum sometimes I get tiny bumps on my upper and lower lash line, but they go away in two/three days so I'm not really worried but I just thought I'd add this! Thanks for reading, please give me advice ☁️💞

@@DrRupaWong I read that it is all natural . I also read that people have crazy eyelash growth with it ! There is a serum and a mascara . As a teen I could put literally anything on my eyes as far as makeup. I can barely use anything now . Most high end mascaras just about kill me and give me these horrible dark circles . Hi Dr. Rupa. I’ve had pterygium removal surgery before. I’m contemplating doing a lash lift because I’m so scared of extensions etc. What’s your thought on lash lifts?
The chemicals used in lash lifts are basically thioglycolate (same solution as in hair perm). Not that safe in the rare instance they get in your eyes. I personally would avoid it.
Thank you.. A professional.. Learned.. Studied.. Not some silly girl.. Sorry to say.. Talking about something they have no idea what their talking about!!! Very informative.. I tried it all.. I find that by leaving them to grow.. Bit of tlc.. And good nutrients. My lasses are growing back.. I wouldn't use a serum.. Their my eye for God sake.. The only ones I have!!
Thanks Brenda! Yes, I think just not abusing your lashes with lots of waterproof mascara and harsh makeup removers is key. Nutrients are also so important.
I call bull 😂 I have a decent diet, exercise well, use a little bit of vasaline on my eyes once in a while, never wear make up, and drink lots of water... And I still have shorter lashes than everybody I know. Barely there
I’m a teen and think I have blepharitis, I get crust on my eyes and the dry out my eyelashes which sometimes cause them to fall out. Going to my doctor about it.
Do you have any thoughts on the silly george lash serum? They claim they don't have any of the ingredients that do the pigmentation on the eyes or skin. But just to be sure, what do you think of it?
The ingredients sound very similar to what the other over the counter ones. Its cheaper than most, but you won't get real results until 6 to 8 weeks. That's just how long it takes lashes to grow. I started with LashFood which wasn't good for me, moved onto Grande Lash which worked really good, and now am onto Nuelash, which is expensive af but works the best, imo.
Thanks so much Tina! I actually did extensions for one of the other videos, so that's what I'm wearing here. But, usually I'll do lash serum with extensions to make the natural lash stronger.
I thought you were supposed to get the serum into the root of the eyelashes, so that's why you put it on like a liquid liner. If you put it on a spoolie, how can it actually get to where the hair comes out and touch the skin and pore that the hair is coming out of?
Thanks so much, is the best information on this subject. It scares me a bit knowing that is like Lumigan, because it has to affect the eye pressure, right? Also I will subscribe to your channel 👍
I - and others I know - get mad dark circles from isopropyl cloprostenate (I think that's the ingredient). It looks like I've been punched in the eyes after a few weeks of usage :(
hi i’m really interested in getting lash boost but i’m worried about some of the side effects and hypothetically if i got bumps and darkness would they be permanent? or temporary? and can it cause permanent damage to my sight? i really don’t want to buy something that will really effect my body! anyway thank you so much for educating!
Does the side effects from Latisse etc. go away after some time? For example changed eye colour, darker skin where the product has been places, more sensitive skin? Or does it stay forever? 😅😅
Love this video thank!! i just have one question you told us not to use the serum on our bottom eyelashes but i want to grow them too and i am a little confused now. Would love to get an aswer thank you 🥰
Yeah if use them bottom lashes, then you risk getting the skin darkening and you'll likely get this extra hair growth on the bottom eyelid skin too. That's why I would personally not recommend it. But if you want to try it, just know that these are possibilities.
Dr. Rupa Wong omg thank you i wasn’t expecting your answer! Maybe if i use it on the top eyelash a bit of product will get to the bottom lash and grow my lashes without putting it directly on it
vv ysysys Yes, that's what I find happens. Honestly, my bottom lashes are longer than my top ones right now b/c I did extensions for a while and my top lashes are SO short.

Hi Nena! Here is a video on how I remove my eye make up - ruclips.net/video/KlLwunmqcZ0/видео.html
I seen latisse can effect fat around the eyes making you look older ? Is this true and is it reversible ?
Yes, I’ve heard this too and really want her insight on this matter!!! I would love to try these lash serums and have longer lashes, but not at the expense of changing the fat around my eyes and making me look older 😬
Exactly! I want to know if this is true and what studies are done on it.
Yes it happened to me and no it’s not reversible . Once the fat is gone it’s gone . I had to get a fat transfer
@@lisalavender366 wow i have been using it for a year now every 3 days one drop both eyes and no issues . but t makes me worried
@@jgalt5002 there’s no clear data on what percentage of people that happens to apparently but I read some dermatologist said it happens to all people to varying degrees . My lashes were phenomenal but unfortunately it sucked the fat from underneath my eyes as well as gave me dark circles
Thank you so much, Dr. Wong. Is the skin darkening reversible? Grandelash has made my skin darken.
It didn't darken me and grew lashes. Alopecia patient.
Have you heard of thrive cosmetics? What about their lash serum? I just bought it and the ingredients are not very similar to what you read
I have! I like thrive. I use the mascara.
@@DrRupaWong Does it have the color pigmenting ingredient? Because I don’t want to lose my hazel eyes.
I use their mascara too! Only one that works for me without giving me an allergic reaction
Is there any way to surgically correct orbital fat atrophy and continue using latisse and revitalash? I do not want my lashes to get shorter , or is it worth it to save for eyelash transplants ?
This is such an important video thank you for sharing
@@DrRupaWong so the orbital fat atrophy is if the chemical gets inside the eye?
What do you suggest for lower eyelashes? My problem is that I have missing lash hairs on my left lower eyelid. There is not any lashes there which makes it a bit odd since I have long lashes elsewhere
I suffer with styes on the same lid, do you recommend using lash serums and if so, which one?
I Have central serous retinopathy now. Do you think lash serums might have cause this?
can you please explain why the active ingredient in latisse doesn't increase melanin in blue/green eyes but only brown eyes? is it because the former lacks melanin to begin with, and it can't create melanin?
Unfortunately, I can't give medical advice over social media, but I definitely recommend you see your eye doctor!
@@DrRupaWong okay, thank you!
Hello! Can you do a video about how to get rid of bags under eyes? Also, any good eye cream you would recommend or safe cosmetic procedures to keep eye area looking youthful? Thank you!!!
So interesting the chemistry side, how it depends on the structure and not just the ingredient list
.....nut in closing, which would you recommend in the OTC. It sound like you've done self clinical trials. Which did you find the safe but mist effective? Thank you.
Hi, what about Vegamour's serum? It looks like they don't have prostaglandins or hormone synthetics. I worry about periorbital fat loss and really want some long lashes. I loved my Latisse but I need to stop the use.
You're right! They don't. I have a video on this here - ruclips.net/video/9ehrWmpxQZQ/видео.html
Hi ! Thank you so much this is very informational !! What do you think of the Rimmel lash Accelerator with procapil as it's active ingredient ?
I haven't! But I need to do a part 2 so I'll definitely put that on the list.
@@DrRupaWong I read that it is all natural . I also read that people have crazy eyelash growth with it ! There is a serum and a mascara . I used the mascara for 2 days and noticed some growth that fast. After having used Maybelline soft and full my eye lashes started breaking and falling out ! I have super sensitive eyes now . As a teen I could put literally anything on my eyes as far as makeup. I can barely use anything now . Most high end mascaras just about kill me and give me these horrible dark circles . They cause the veins under my eyes to become swollen an irritated . Anyway this Rimmel one has not bothered me at all . So I hope it is good . Please do a video !! Also thank you so much as someone who struggles with eye makeup it is nice to have more information !!
I have dry eyes and Babe Lash really exacerbated the condition to the point my lack of tear film alarmed my eye doctor. I ended up having to take doxy. I read that a very high percentage of people treated for glaucoma with the medication that contains the Latisse active ingredient suffer with dry eye.
Thanks Dr. for your time!!! That was a great video!!!!
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Really appreciate this thank you
You're very welcome
Thank you for this! Also do you have any comments on the brand Rapid lash?
Have you tried xlash from the UK? It’s suppose to be organic.
excelent video, I will certainly take the advice of her in the future
Hi Dr.
Can you please do a review on VieBeauti Eyelash Growth Serum🥺🙏🏼 You are amazing! You explained everything so well!
It sells on Amazon! Best Serum I've ever used but would like to hear about ingredients and anything else about positive or negative effects of them
Hi Jocelyn, can you give me more info on VieBeauti please, like did it work, how long did it take, were your lashes thick and long
...thank you 🤗
Thank you, love this! Very important to me. Also, what lashes are you wearing in this video??
Thanks so much Tina! I actually did extensions for one of the other videos, so that's what I'm wearing here. But, usually I'll do lash serum with extensions to make the natural lash stronger.
Dr. Rupa Wong , I have lash extensions on right now, what serum is safe to use. Thank you .
I read in an article that these products were causing sunken eyes and that it weakens the muscles that holds the eye ball. Is this true?
Thank you. Just wondering if it would be good for normal hair growth as well.
It’s not for the hair
Hey Dr, what do you think about UKlash?
i love your breakdown of ingredients!
I thought you were supposed to get the serum into the root of the eyelashes, so that's why you put it on like a liquid liner. If you put it on a spoolie, how can it actually get to where the hair comes out and touch the skin and pore that the hair is coming out of?
Can one use Vaseline to prevent skin darkening ?
Thanks so much, is the best information on this subject. It scares me a bit knowing that is like Lumigan, because it has to affect the eye pressure, right? Also I will subscribe to your channel 👍
What do you recommend for eyebrow growth
I - and others I know - get mad dark circles from isopropyl cloprostenate (I think that's the ingredient). It looks like I've been punched in the eyes after a few weeks of usage :(
hi i’m really interested in getting lash boost but i’m worried about some of the side effects and hypothetically if i got bumps and darkness would they be permanent? or temporary? and can it cause permanent damage to my sight? i really don’t want to buy something that will really effect my body! anyway thank you so much for educating!
Hi, have you looked into orbital fat loss which is a side effect of prostaglandin analogues?
Does the side effects from Latisse etc. go away after some time? For example changed eye colour, darker skin where the product has been places, more sensitive skin? Or does it stay forever? 😅😅
She responded on another post that the skin darkening may or may not dissipate, iris darkening is permanent.
Hi Dr. Wong, could you also review NourishLash vs MaxeyLash?
Subscribed because of the great content in this video! Keep doing more like these please
Hi! Is the potential darkening of the skin permanent?
The skin darkening typically resolves (mine did). The iris darkening is permanent.
Dr. Rupa Wong can it really darken brown eyes? How common is that side effect?
So what about the oils? Like castor oil? Can also have a negative effect?
Just did a video on coconut oil here: ruclips.net/video/F_VQTN_HZO0/видео.html
Dr. Rupa Wong Thank you!! ❤️
Dr. Rupa Wong thank you
Does the skin and iris darkening go back to normal after discontinuing the lash products?
Iris darkening typically does not, skin darkening may or may not.
@@DrRupaWong Awesome, thank you! Really gives you something more to consider before going that route. I'm new, but loving your channel so far. You're so easy to watch, informative, yet approachable with that information. And the adorable family and four legged babies don't hurt 😊💜
