I used GrandeLash 5 years ago and it seemed to be effective but one thing I noticed after a couple months that around 15 minutes after application my eyes started to have mild burning sensation that would trigger tears. I would have to wipe my tears with tissue. It was reoccurring so I just stopped using it. I don't know why that started happening because I was fine for the first couple of months. I did not have an allergic reaction with eye swelling, redness or itching. This video was helpful information.

I was already noticing great changes in my previously nonexistent lashes but I was just putting on my some moisturizer and sunscreen and saw my undereyes suddenly looked almost a violet black!! Hi @Taylor Hattley ! Have you experienced any side effects with Inika, even though it’s organic? I actually bought a tube yesterday but am trying to research as much as possible before testing it 😅
Hello Dr. What about castor oil? Is it safe? They sell it in Pharmacies and Department stores like Walmart. I'm trying to find the safest way to improve my eyelashes growing since Im 46 yrs old and I've noticing they are not as full as years before. Thank you
Ok, so what no one has mentioned in any of these lash serum videos is Revitalash and more specifically, “Does Revitalash cause all of the problems mentioned?”. This is the serum that started it all for me, and the results were incredible. However, it also happens to be the most expensive; therefore, I switched to lesser expensive serums, where the ingredients seemed to be similar, but not exact. Is it more expensive because it is the safer option? Again, the results were so unbelievable that I had friends running in droves to buy them online after seeing my lashes unusually long, bordering on looking quite fake.
She did say that other popular brands use the same active ingredient (prostaglandin), judging by what google says that includes Revitalash. "RevitaLash-as well as MD Lash Factor, Enormous Lash, and Peter Thomas Roth Lashes to Die For-contains a prostaglandin-like compound (prostaglandins are naturally occurring chemicals in the body). This ingredient is similar to one used in glaucoma drugs." Consumer reports for Revitalash include side effects like Dr. Rupa Wong described. "Reported RevitaLash Side Effects These include eye irritation, swelling, or redness, along with some other things to consider, such as darkened skin around the eye area or weak, stiff eyelashes. A small percentage of users have reported change in eye color, or even blurred vision." Im not an MD so dont take my word for it but my best guess is that more expensive is not better, its still the same active ingredient doing the work. I doubt paying more will grant you more safety. Another MD, Dr. Dray on RUclips, said that the side effects are inevitable and its a "sooner or later they will happen" thing, not "some get side effects some dont" so be careful and keep an eye on... well, your eye lol Hope that helps!
I don't know if you're still commenting on your lashify video so I'm posting this here. What was your experience like sleeping in the lashify lashes? I tried the Kiss Falscara version, LOVED IT, but had problems sleeping. I woke up in the middle of the night and removed them.
After watching your video, it changed my mind to not use Latisse but now I am stuck with a brand new bottle of it that just arrived. What’s bad is that I cannot return it because it is a prescribed product. So I wonder if I could use it on my eyebrows or anywhere else that is not my eyes area? Hope you could answers this. Thank you very much for a beautiful explanation. I never want my eyes to feel harm this way.
Hi Dr I'm currently using UKLash syrum.. I've got dark line where I've been applying it.. Allso I've been getting at least 4 really bad headaches a week & felling eye pain allong with headaches.. Not sleeping very well.. Is this alarm bell warnings.. Please let me know!???
Late to this party. But I was got a sample of a lash serum in a beauty box recently and used it last night. Today I saw an optician as my eyes were burning and red. It appears to have given me minor abrasions to my corneas due to dryness. So the sample got chucked in the bin immediately!
Hi Dr. Rupa.... query if possible. I've been using Cover Girl Lash/Brow Blast Serum for 5 months {loyally}. Curious if you believe that the active ingredient in this recent video, possibly appears in the ingredient list as . . 'another' name. I do not see the mentioning of such descriptor in this list. Thank you again for any and all time helping if at all possible. {I 'do' have eye issues btw, and have had zero side affects & def. helped with lash length, conditioning, & regrowth factor is amazing, but it does nothing for increased 'volume' of lashes and does nothing for my brow area} Thank you again. Hi Dr. Rupa - what is your opinion on Hubble Contacts? My old ophthalmologist refused to write me an Rx for this. When I switched to a new one they had no issues with me using them. Is there something wrong with them? Do you not suggesting using these for daily wear? Daily contacts are so expensive.
Dr. Mahalo! Yes :) thanks for your video. I wanted ask you something. I have been using Forchics (eyelash and brow serum) for almost two months and my eyebrows look fuller but I developed an irritation on my eyes (swollen, red, dryer, discharge) so I wonder if I can stop the eyelash serum but still continue the eyebrow serum? Does eyebrow serum still affect the eyes? Or eyebrow doesn’t interfere with eyes? Thanks so much 🙏🏻
The cosmetics business are so smart, and we are so damn. They first make us believe that fake lash make you look better and yes, lots of woman feel better with fake lash, with out considering all the harm it was causing your natural lash. Now they have a serum which I am sure is not cheap for your natural eyelashes because you have no natural lash from using all that fake stuff that have chemicals. This is a business society and we fall into like sheep’s.
Wow thank you so much for the education on isopropyl chloprostenate. I just found it on the ingredient list for Rapid Lash. I think I will have stop using it. Thanks.
Loved your video! And what about Lipocils Talika? It does not have the substances that you mentioned, but oils and another ones that I don’t know if they also cause side effects. Could you help me ? I’ll stop using it, just bought it, but if it causes any damage to my eyes, I prefer to stop using it.
Hi ive been using uklash which has a prostaglandin in. How do i spot the signs of orbital fat loss? Ive been using it for 5 months now i love my long lashes but scared of getting the sunken eye effect thanks x
Im pretty certain that when this originated as an eyedrops for glaucoma it was MUCH cheaper. Can we use/buy or have our dr prescribe the drops rather than use lattice and get the same results?
Yes, but you have to have a diagnosis of Gluacoma. It wasn’t used for that, it was for intraocular pressure issues. If you don’t have that your MD is not going to lie on a script. Latisse is generic now and you can use GoodRX to get it as cheap as 28-30$.
Hi! I was using obagi lash serum for 6 months and actually wasn’t using it consistently but it was working with my lashes growing, but recently had a reaction where my lashes were shedding a lot, my eyelid were red, itchy, inflammation, dry, had to go to 4 different doctors and still don’t know exactly why it happened but stopped using for about 2 months now and still waiting for my lashes to fully grow back 😩 I almost wish the medical spa I go to didn’t sell it, I think to many risks and side effects to close to the eyes.
Thank you so much for this video! I have dry eyes and a lot of redness and even have miobium gland expression done (also do the bruder, moisture drops, fish oil, etc) but hadn’t heard that lash serums can cause redness and inflammation! I stopped using Rapidlash and I immediately noticed an improvement on how my eyes feel and they are even less red so I am not using my Lumify very often at all! I am so thankful for your information! Thank you! Now I am going to try the magnetic lashes that you recommended! Thank you Dr!
Wow - I'm so glad this helped! Yes, most of the lash serums don't disclose these side effects but they are to be expected given that they have a similar ingredient to Latisse (bimatoprost).
@@DrRupaWong what about eyebrow serums for example revitabrow, they can also cause fat loss around the eyes?? Please help me I want my eyebrows back, but I'm afraid to use it 😥😥
Hi thank you so much its helped me work out that I was right about the eye serum I was using was irritating my eyes. However it's OK on my eyebrows.I use Mavala made in Switzerland.Im in UK purchased product online.
Hi Dr Rupa! I want to try latise , I’m currently dealing w mild graves eye disease , my thyroid hormones have normalised now but there’s still some inflamed orbital tissues near my eyes. do you think I the fat atrophy/sunken eye effect of these serums may help reduce the swelling of my eye tissues?
Do you think Castor oil or even shea butter rubbed near the lashline is safe. I use shea butter as a eye cream and body cream and was wondering if it would be safe to put some on my eyelashes
So is there a lash serum that does not cause any of this? is the real question. Anyways thanks for the educational video because I am not going to take the risk.
What do you do once you accidentally put serum on your eyeball. I just wanna know THAT part because my eye is Red AF! Sorry for my French but I'm panicking right now. I dont care about the effects I care about what to do when the effect is happening.
Thank you for your video. I need help and counsel. I used a serum just 1 time and that was enough to not want to use it again. My eyes were very red and irritated the next few days. Now I have very dry eyes. It's been about 5 days since I last used serum. Will my dry eyes recover from using the serum only 1 time? Thank you.
@@DrRupaWong the product works well! It took some time and consistency to see results and I have been slacking using it everyday, but even with that I have still been able to see some results. My eye area has not gotten any darker since I’ve been using it.

Hey Jennifer, you're right, just because it is sold does not mean it is safe. I will add the Clinique product to my video suggestions list. Thank you! :)
Thanks for the info on this! Do you have any videos talking about lash growth serums with bio-enzyme EPM as the active ingredient, rather than a prostaglandin? I’m thinking of trying out the Lash Growth Serum from a company called Silly George, and it seems to be a different kind of formulation than the products you’ve talked about here (and in your ingredients video!)

Hi dr Rupa. Do you know percentage wise how many people are affected by this . I stopped using mine out of fear and now my lashes are back to nothing . 😿
It seems to have given me dry eyes. My eyes water nonstop and drops don't help. I will stop the serums now but my question is will the watery eyes get better since I'm stopping?
I miss Honolulu, lived there for a year! 🌈🌺🌴 Have been using Grande Lash for a few years now and noticed about a year or so ago that I’ve been having flashes of light in my upper eye region(s). Saw my Opthamologist and was refered to a retinal specialist who told me that it was due to retinal separation which could eventually become detachment which is rather upsetting and disconcerting news. I inquired about the Grande Lash serum as a contributing factor and it was dismissed as harmless and not likely to be correlated in any way to this condition which i’m told is considered “normal” for age 48. Do you agree with this opinion and what are your thoughts regarding Lash MDs serum as a possible cause of this issue? Also lately I am noticing a strange flickering effect in one of my eyes. I sometimes use the grande brow as a lash serum as well because I ran out and believe the formulas are the same or similar but the brush applicator is slightly different but probably should call the company to confirm that this is ok. I greatly appreciate your video and channel and am glad to have found you and subscribed! ♥️
I, a person who had detached retina surgery and that eye now sees well, believe your retina problem is not related to using eye serums. However, knowing your eyes are incurring retina issues, (flashes of light & floaters) I'd stay clear of eye serums and use mascara sparingly. There are eye vitamins that help. I take the generic Walgreens eye vitamin brand b4 bed. When you wake&blink, you can see the improvements, but just like any vitamin, you must continue the regiment. Plz stay clear of lifting heavy objects? Any excessive/continious physical stress on ur body like lifting, pulling or carrying heavy items puts pressure on those viens within the eyes. If you have to lift, tightly close that eye? Finally, if you' must have eye surgery, don't fear? We're blessed to live in this age of advance medicine. Ur eye can be repaired. ✌️
I heard about periorbital far loss due to using prosglandin based serums. Does it have to get into the eyes to cause damage??? Also, can they cause eye drooping?
Have you seen Glo for it girl in the UK? Could you advise me on this serum if it’s good? A lot of people say it should be fine because it doesn’t have these ingredients
Dr, have you heard of Cangro lash serum? It is made in Australia and claims to grow lashes without those ingredients you have mentioned. I used it and it actually seems to help my lashes. Can you pls check that out and make a review?
I’m here because I start feel discomfort. Thank you I’ll visit the eye doctor 👌🏻

Hi @Taylor Hattley ! Have you experienced any side effects with Inika, even though it’s organic? I actually bought a tube yesterday but am trying to research as much as possible before testing it 😅
@@LettyLetty67 I haven’t tried it yet. So I am not sure.
@@taylor_hattley No worries☺I'll try it and evaluate whether it's as good as they say!
@@LettyLetty67 Okay.
Hello Dr. What about castor oil? Is it safe? They sell it in Pharmacies and Department stores like Walmart. I'm trying to find the safest way to improve my eyelashes growing since Im 46 yrs old and I've noticing they are not as full as years before. Thank you
Thank you for this! What do you think about using castor oil for growth?
I actually did a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/plc1H9cdYbU/видео.html
@dina.jasim jasim same I just made my skin breakout because it’s so oily
Is the elf lash serum safe? Will it effect my eyes or eyelashes negatively?
Great video Doctor, can you do a video on putting Jamaican black castor oil on your eyelashes? I've seen it trending on RUclips.
This ingredient is similar to one used in glaucoma drugs."
Consumer reports for Revitalash include side effects like Dr. Rupa Wong described.
"Reported RevitaLash Side Effects
These include eye irritation, swelling, or redness, along with some other things to consider, such as darkened skin around the eye area or weak, stiff eyelashes. A small percentage of users have reported change in eye color, or even blurred vision."
Im not an MD so dont take my word for it but my best guess is that more expensive is not better, its still the same active ingredient doing the work. I doubt paying more will grant you more safety.
Another MD, Dr. Dray on RUclips, said that the side effects are inevitable and its a "sooner or later they will happen" thing, not "some get side effects some dont" so be careful and keep an eye on... well, your eye lol
Hope that helps!
@@mashaa.7509 Thank you so much for answering. I have decided that using no lash serum is best - for me, anyway.
Good thing I watched this before checking out on my Sephora order. 😂
I don't know if you're still commenting on your lashify video so I'm posting this here. What was your experience like sleeping in the lashify lashes? I tried the Kiss Falscara version, LOVED IT, but had problems sleeping. I woke up in the middle of the night and removed them.
Been using Latttisse for years. Been noticing fat loss atrophy despite tear troph filler. . If I stop using it it will remain?
After watching your video, it changed my mind to not use Latisse but now I am stuck with a brand new bottle of it that just arrived. What’s bad is that I cannot return it because it is a prescribed product. So I wonder if I could use it on my eyebrows or anywhere else that is not my eyes area? Hope you could answers this. Thank you very much for a beautiful explanation. I never want my eyes to feel harm this way.
Hello,
I will be releasing a video on Friday where I discuss using Latisse for eyebrow growth.
Thank you for your suggestion and for being here!
Curious
if you believe that the active ingredient in this recent video, possibly appears in the ingredient list as . .
'another' name. I do not see the mentioning of such descriptor in this list.
Thank you again for any and all time helping if at all possible. {I 'do' have eye issues btw, and have had zero
side affects & def. helped with lash length, conditioning, & regrowth factor is amazing, but it does nothing for increased 'volume' of lashes and does nothing for my brow area} Thank you again.

What about using these serums for eyebrow growth? Or what would you recommend?
Hi Dr. Rupa - what is your opinion on Hubble Contacts? My old ophthalmologist refused to write me an Rx for this. When I switched to a new one they had no issues with me using them. Is there something wrong with them? Do you not suggesting using these for daily wear? Daily contacts are so expensive.
I have a cousin who lost her eyelashes and I bought her viebeauti eyelash serum is that one safe? Or babelash?
Hi!, Is the ordinary lash and brow serum good or harmful?
Great question. I have this one on my list to review. Thank you!
@@DrRupaWong thank you for responding!, I’ll be waiting for the review :).
Hey Consu! Here is the video on the ordinary serum! ruclips.net/video/cGIkskWfMuI/видео.html
@@DrRupaWong thankss!!
Thank you for this great information. Very informative.
Thank you for the informatiom. I will stop using it. What do you recommend for eyelashes to grow?
Hey, glad to help! I have a video on this. You can watch it with this link: ruclips.net/video/9ehrWmpxQZQ/видео.html
Thanks doctor. Do the eyebrow serums have similar side- effects? If I discontinue the use of my eyebrow serum, my eyebrows are likely to fall out?
Yes pleaas we need your help at this one
I've read several accounts of people experiencing periorbital fat atrophy with Lattise. This is why I won't use it.
What about rapid lashes please Dr? Could you give us some information about the side effects please ?
Dr. Thanks so much 🙏🏻
Which doctor should I go to to start a lash growth serum? My ophthalmologist or dermatologist?
Ophthalmologist. They'll be the one to monitor for side effects like cystoid macular edema, changes in intraocular pressure, etc.
@@DrRupaWong thank you! I have keratoconus so I have a feeling my doc won’t recommend putting anything on or around my eyes. Gonna ask anyway!
I’m thinking of buying Omnilux face LED light therapy. Is this safe for eyes?
What alternatives do you recommend? What about Dime Beauty?
Oh good grief no lashes are worth hollow eye socket wow!
I will definitely gonna stop using but can I get something that help me for my eyes get better
Wow thank you so much for the education on isopropyl chloprostenate. I just found it on the ingredient list for Rapid Lash. I think I will have stop using it. Thanks.
I appreciate this! I just cancelled my order!
Is Maybelline lash serum safe?
I’m curious about this as well?
Yes, but you have to have a diagnosis of Gluacoma. It wasn’t used for that, it was for intraocular pressure issues. If you don’t have that your MD is not going to lie on a script. Latisse is generic now and you can use GoodRX to get it as cheap as 28-30$.
Dont Use Things like this honestly. This is Shit. I ve Used it a long time and now my undereyes are deep. I never had deep undereyes
Good that i watched this video before buying. But can i use it once in a while?. Not everyday and not often.

This is what I’m curious about too!!

I wanna know too😭
Do you know if the vegamour lash serum is safe ?

@Dr. Rupa Wong I’ve used revitalash and was looking at the ingredients it does not contain isopropyl cloprostenate
Thank you.
Hi Dr Wong,
I’ve started using scorolash. They said that their products do not contain prostaglandins. Do you know about this brand?
I will work on a video about this brand! Thanks for the suggestion! What do you think of the product?

Thanks for the info on this! Do you have any videos talking about lash growth serums with bio-enzyme EPM as the active ingredient, rather than a prostaglandin? I’m thinking of trying out the Lash Growth Serum from a company called Silly George, and it seems to be a different kind of formulation than the products you’ve talked about here (and in your ingredients video!)

Which doctor should I ask for this prescription with? My ophthalmologist, or my primary care doctor? Or does it matter?
Update: I got my prescription from my primary doctor no problem. But I’m going to let my ophthalmologist know just so she can make sure I’m not having any adverse effects 😊
is polymacon contacts bad for your eyes?
So my question is Say if I use the serum, and my eye sockets have sunken… if I stop using the serum will it be reversed?
I heard about periorbital far loss due to using prosglandin based serums. Does it have to get into the eyes to cause damage??? Also, can they cause eye drooping?
Have you seen Glo for it girl in the UK? Could you advise me on this serum if it’s good? A lot of people say it should be fine because it doesn’t have these ingredients
Dr, have you heard of Cangro lash serum? It is made in Australia and claims to grow lashes without those ingredients you have mentioned. I used it and it actually seems to help my lashes. Can you pls check that out and make a review?
