Great review to the point didn’t over complicate it, I just pulled the trigger on of these. There really is so much choice for monitors, I found this had a lot of bang for buck. New Sub here mate😎

This has been rather helpful, this monitor's in my short list atm, along with a pile of other VERY similar screens. My only concern is the VA ghosting thing, I've only used (admittedly quite old) TN panels
I just got mine and set it up. Thanks for the review! I had seen where it supposedly has a built-in KVM but I'm not sure if that is real. I'm trying to understand how the USB connections work on the back. I'm not a fan of the little nub control on the back, since it will be difficult to get at once I have it mounted on the wall and one of the systems I'll be switching to is a PS4, so I can't use the software tool. But it looks like a decent monitor and was a great price.
I've been having problems with the DisplayPort on mine-- it doesn't seem to work at all. The two HDMI ports work fine, although I think it doesn't like that I have a KVM switch, which makes having the DisplayPort functional a requirement. The USB B connector on the back is needed to control the OSD Sidekick. Out of the box I was not happy withe the color, but managed to get it dialed-in with the Sidekick to where I'm happy with it.
just cuz the specsheet says 1ms, doesn't mean it will work on that freq, these VA panels usually have a hard time going beyond 140 Hz. One implementation is that these manufacturers use special modes to enable 1ms but it usually reduces the brightness to a level where nothing is actually clearly visible on the screen. so no, dont buy this cuz this has 1ms or 165Hz, but it is a good choice for upto 4ms 140Hz on full brightness, without other compromises.
I have a nice 27 inch 165hz G-sync panel that cost me about $600 (on sale) a few years ago. To think that I just bought this for $380 usd just blows my mind.

Would really love to see some real responsetimes on this panel... Looking hard for a new monitor right now... Mostly want a VA panel... but can't seem to find any "real" 144hz+ panels, that has responsetimes within the 144hz window :(
@@jonathanpilmore7140 same ones I'm in between... if responstimes between them is all you care about, the LG is definitely better... IPS is already better than VA there... and the GL850 is the best IPS in that regard (and overdrive)... Also has 10bit color and a wider colorgamut.... I'm ONLY considering this for better contrast and the bigger screen
Bought it myself... I'm very sensitive to weird blur and flicker, so knew it would be a gamble ordering a VA panel... and my expectations was spot on... Can't live with the dark-level-smearing of VA. The picture of the display is phenomenal, but as soon as it started having quick movements, it bugged me... Sent it back, and on the day I got my LG 27GL850 instead, Hardware Unboxed threw out a review for the Gigabyte monitor, agreeing with my gripes... Also clarified why I LOVED the black levels of the monitor.... he measured 5100:1 contrast, instead of the 3000:1 said by Gigabyte themselves.

If the 27 and 32 inch were the same price, i would have definately got the smaller 27, but 32 is just perfect size. best of both worlds, movie watching and gaming........ the colours, response times, faetures it has it just phenomenal

just built my first computer with a rtx 2060. wanted to dip my toes into 1440p gaming without breaking the bank. This looks perfect for me, ordering it now. i cant wait.
@@alpaca2328 No problems at all. Can handle most AAA titles above 60fps 1440p on high settings. And now with DLSS 2.0 it can even handle ray tracing in 1440p as well. rtx2060 is a great entry level 1440p card. No need to upgrade if that's what you're looking for.

Yeah Nah! Glad I went with the Acer Predator (G-sync compatible, free sync monitor) 32" instead. Glad I did now, thanks for removing my concerns with purchasing the wrong one for me. The Gigabyte although with 165hz over 144hz compared to the predator. The colour and depth is off and yes I do content creation 😂. The predator monitor FTW! Thank mate! Fantastic video! Still have this monitor? I'm having really really bad color smearing no matter what setting I use, not sure if I got a bad one or what. Especially noticeable on blacks when turning seems to smear, moving a window around on the desktop the color of the windows bar smears with the desktop color......
Hint: Turn the Overdrive to Balanced. Ghosting will be GONE, and it is very, very nice at this point. I'm not sure why it is not set up as default. PS. That stand is enormous... PS2. I have very nice IPS monitor and this one is very, very good. HDR is Windows looks terrible. Is there any monitor that HDR in Windows looks GOOD? When I turn on HDR colors get washed out?! BTW. I got the same speakers you have for this monitor... :D
@@ghallora It probably depend how picky you are. I'm very happy with this monitor, did not touch settings in last few moths, 32" 1440p is best. Now I have 3080 rtx so... it is perfect combination.

It was a good looking monitor but I had to send mine back. The holes in the back to screw it into the stand came without threaded inserts....just punched out holes. really soured my view on investing on a brand new line of monitors, unlucky I know. actually if I can ask you, how did the holes in the book look like? I shone a light into them to see they werent threaded and I could see the circuit board..which probably isnt normal but hey I havent gotten a new monitor in like 3 years so who knows.
32 inches is way too big for me but these monitor reviews/overviews always have interesting content and what things to look out for like: "Why don't you have VESA mounting as standard?!?!?!?" (shakes fist) Industry standards exist for a reason... LOL

Idk if you got an answer yet but from what I've seen, it shines in more "pretty" games. So something like assassin's creed. I'm sure it would be fine for FPS games but there's definitely better monitors out there.
ordered mine and im return in it because it came with a lot of backlight bleeding. did yours came like that too? wondering if it is normal that much of it and it is manufacturing problem. anyway found it anoying and doing a full refund to get another one of a different brand probably the asus xg279q

Were u actually able to get the monitor running in hdr without it having to be in windowed or full-screen windowed mode? Its not working in full screen mode for me..

i have been tossed between these two actually, obviously concerned about the framerate drop from the ultra wide abit. is the VG35VQ actually a good monitor for gaming?
@@mitchelldigney988 You can see the difference between 144Hz and 100Hz but it's not a big enough difference to turn down gaming on 21:9 at 1440p. The contrast is also really good.
What are the best settings for this? Just bought mine and am disappointed with the picture quality... I have an Acer 32" 1080p curved that cost less than half and it looks so much better...
So you talked about the pixel arrays. I had that issue with g34wqc. It was so annoying that I sold it. My desktop looked so terrible with any wallpaper that i used cuz I could see the pixels and it made the image so worst. Is this the issue here? I was planning on buying this monitor. Thanks
Strangely enough PS5 game settings only support either 4K or 1080p resolutions (no in-betweens as of the moment), so you might have to live with slightly blurry 1080p gaming. Not a dealbreaker but something you have to note.
Hi sir.. can you double check the monitor HDR? because some site said that it's 350nits in normal use.. and go up to 450nits when load an HDR CONTENTS..

I just got mine. Love it so far. No HDR for me because it makes alt+tabbing very slow jumping between non HDR games and HDR desktop

So no ghosting? I've heard mixed reports. Some saying ghosting is there no matter the overdrive setting.

I notice that no matter how much I mess with the brightness and contrast, most games I play seem to have just a little too much exposure. Please help!
Can you please tell me if the black smearing problem is that noticeable and is it that bad on this model?
I've been looking at this monitor and the Asus XG32VQR. How would you compare the Gigabyte monitor to the Asus monitor? Would they be similar, or one better than the other?
I was in between those two as well and I'm getting this Gigabyte at last. I can't wait for the 165HZ and AND Freesync Premium Pro for the win!!

@@brrrburberry2554 finally, someone with a realistic view on this monitor. I got it too and i agree, i wanted to love it. But thz black smearing is WAY worse than my old omen 32" VA (even when you set both at 60hz)
What overdrive modes does this have? Does it have a fast mode like the lg which balances performance but not brining in ghosting
Is it a good gaming monitor? Like for more FPS games.
Idk if you got an answer yet but from what I've seen, it shines in more "pretty" games. So something like assassin's creed. I'm sure it would be fine for FPS games but there's definitely better monitors out there.
ordered mine and im return in it because it came with a lot of backlight bleeding. did yours came like that too? wondering if it is normal that much of it and it is manufacturing problem. anyway found it anoying and doing a full refund to get another one of a different brand probably the asus xg279q

@@KlaireGearSeekers ah ok sorry it just i didnt see anything on the review showing the monitor on different scenes of gameplay or video. everything was colorful no dark scenes or 16:9 aspect ratio. so you could just skip the backlight bleeding topic if you just wanted it or thinj it was not worth to mention it.

I’ve seen multiple reviews complain about dark screen bleed or whatever. Is this really an issue with playing games in dark areas?

I would also like to know if this feature made it to release. Gigabyte pushed it heavily at CES but no mention of KVM+ on their website or in any of the specs where they're being sold.

Were u actually able to get the monitor running in hdr without it having to be in windowed or full-screen windowed mode? Its not working in full screen mode for me..

Hey. First of all good video and good video quality. But I have one open question according to the monitor. Is there any ghosting noticeable, while using it for surfing and something like this and have you done a ghosting test?

There is no ghosting at all. Imo the review it is not fair anyway...
i bought my today and i get ghosting in all games possible i try for hours to find a way,i put on and off all that has and is doing ghosthing and glow all over games

@@blatchie4608 check your settings and make sure you have a graphics card that can keep up with it... I have the monitor and it is one of the best in the market
I have a VG35VQ and 16:9 feels like 4:3 now.
i have been tossed between these two actually, obviously concerned about the framerate drop from the ultra wide abit. is the VG35VQ actually a good monitor for gaming?
@@mitchelldigney988 You can see the difference between 144Hz and 100Hz but it's not a big enough difference to turn down gaming on 21:9 at 1440p. The contrast is also really good.
What are the best settings for this? Just bought mine and am disappointed with the picture quality... I have an Acer 32" 1080p curved that cost less than half and it looks so much better...
So you talked about the pixel arrays. I had that issue with g34wqc. It was so annoying that I sold it. My desktop looked so terrible with any wallpaper that i used cuz I could see the pixels and it made the image so worst. Is this the issue here? I was planning on buying this monitor.

Strangely enough PS5 game settings only support either 4K or 1080p resolutions (no in-betweens as of the moment), so you might have to live with slightly blurry 1080p gaming. Not a dealbreaker but something you have to note.
Hi sir.. can you double check the monitor HDR? because some site said that it's 350nits in normal use.. and go up to 450nits when load an HDR CONTENTS..
