I agree with you. Not very many people will drive the 2.9v6. Most people will drive the 2.0T and it’s very good. Enough power for most people. A very good drivers car.
How's Giulia working out? Thinking of trading in my e class in for one but not sure if I should go for it or not. It seems looks are better than build quality on some models
@@md20120 I feel its worth it, for the driving experience. The German manufactures own the luxury market in Corporate America, so choosing the Giulia is an unique mindset individual.
It cannot be overstated: the steering feel and handling in this thing is PERFECT. Or as close as you get in a modern sport sedan. I test drove one and Alex is spot on. Stellar suspension too. It's a package similar to what the 3 series used to be. Back when it was great, and not just the fast robot it is today.
Wolvesq exactly! And I’ll be heartbroken to say goodbye to my beloved ‘06 RWD 330i, w 210k on the clock, after my Q2 Ti-Sport arrives, but I just don’t have the room to keep her.
I have owned my Alfa for 16 months , its the giulietta 1750 veloce ,same engine and box as 4c . Not one single thing has gone wrong and is a far better drive than a vw golf GTi
Raymond Longhurst yes. It's a better drive than the golf but what you have is a FIAT Bravo with an Alfa Badge. The Mito is a FIAT Punto. Again with an Alfa badge. The very reason why I stopped buying Alfas. Buuuuuuut!! The Giulia QV is on a different planet. I drove one and it feels like the Alfas my dad drove me in. Definitely buying one once the company BMW 335 diesel goes back!
Chris josh Constantinou also according to what car in England Alfa are now the most reliable European brand on cars up to 3 years old on warranty repairs, you would never get that on old Alfa’s they finished fifth behind the Japanese brands try the giulietta it’s far better put together than any fiat and all old alfas
Raymond Longhurst I once worked in an Alfa Romeo parts department. In the mid 80s. Doors, wings front and rear panels bonnets for all the then models. The Alfa Sud Sprints Alfetta range, the older model, spiders GTV juniors you name it all panels rusting away while in the warehouse. At that point I didn't even have a driving licence. And I remember thinking, once I can drive I will never buy this Italian crap of a car.....Then I got my license got to drive my first Alfa, Alfa Sud 1.5 ti and that was it......the Alfa bug got me. Loved every single Alfa I owned, and there was many......Since then I have drove many different cars and as good as cars have become, the Alfa has something others don't.
Raymond Longhurst Not sure if true but I was once told that Alfa Romeo while owned by the Italian government bought metal from scrap yards to make their new cars. The rust was already in the car from new, and there was a saying...... When you buy an Alfa you are buying an engine. The rest of the car was free.....Today no modern car should rust so a 500bhp Alfa Romeo will be up there with the best. It doesn't have to be the best it just has to be competitive. Best will always be a matter of opinions.
One of the most comprehensive, no-sh1t reviews I have seen to date. Well done. The car itself is very high on my list of next potential car's. Good job Alfa.
This car is Italian; my wife is Italian. Do I need to say more? OK...I will. She has owned some nice cars that she enjoyed, or so she thought. J30T, Honda Accord coupe V6, CTS Coupe 3.6, ATS Premium 3.6, Acura TL. None of them made her smile like her new Guilia TI does. It is AWD with the TI sport package, leather package, driver assistance static package, and more, and all she talks about is how much fun it is to drive. We were initially concerned about reliability, but with 1,500 miles on it there have been zero problems. If things work differently than the cars from her past, she says, “Oh yeah, it’s Italian, that’s why I love it.” Right, about the Italian thing. As a third-generation Italian-American, she loves that she is supporting the workers in Cassino. Ciao.
Your wife sounds cool, she single? Seriously though, I love what Alfa is doing. I am absolutely going to own one at some point if they prove reliable enough. For now, I might pick up a 500 Abarth to have some serious fun with. Italian cars man, they're something else.

The AR service, local and corporate, has exceeded expectations particularly given the virtual start up of this brand in USA. This from a loyal BMW customer for over 32 years.

I agree, it's not even close. I have two friends, one drives a C300 and the other an A4. I tested the Giulia Ti and it was like Ferrari gave birth to a sedan. The steering ratio, powertrain and especially the handling were MILES better than the Merc and Audi. The Alfa is a sublime vehicle to drive. I also have family in Europe so I've traveled there often and have driven cars like the 156 and the 147 GTA (Busso engine sexiest sounding ever).

I am in an Alfa group in Houston, Texas and only 1 person had an issue and that was with the brake-by-wire. These vehicles are crazy reliable compared to BMW and Audi. I just took on a 27-month lease (year-end offer and quite competitive) fora Giulia Ti Sports. Great car - but best to lease than buy now until it establishes reliability record in the US.
I’ve owned two Alfas, a 1978 Alfetta 2000 GTV and a 2003 147 Selespeed, both were amazing cars with character. They are quirky cars though, so there’s some adjustments that need to be made to adapt to them, as there is with most Italian cars and motorcycles. The older Alfa was a chore to keep running, but the 147 was better than the 2006 MB230K I had as a company car, that thing was always in the shop for repairs. In fact, I only had a single fuel injection problem with the Alfa which was fixed by the dealer in a few hours, but the MB had everything from transmission problems, to brake problems to supercharger issues to electrical gremlins.. I also owned a Porsche GTS4, which was very reliable, but my Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE had electrical issues, leaks, squeaks and rattles. That was another company car I was glad to get rid of. If you want perfect reliability go with a Japanese or Korean product, if you want to have a lot of fun and put a smile on your face, try an Alfa. Then again...that Kia Stinger is very interesting..
Beautiful design. I ache to own a Quadrifoglio, though it'll probably be a moderately-used 2018 or 2019 off-lease CPO model sometime after 2020. Owned a 5-door RHD 2001 Alfa 147 2.0 TS with a Selespeed (SMG) while living in Malta, that thing was a hoot in Sicily and the mainland, and a pretty good commuter car in the congested hell that is Malta, and man, they could be had *cheap* exported out of the UK, thanks to Alfa's reputation. But other than normal wear items, it did me good for over 20,000km, and when I sold it, it had 197,000km on the clock. Still miss that car, even with FWD and down 100hp, it was nearly as fun as my '95 E36 M3 (before modding), and far more practical. Sadly, it was impossible to import into the US.
You know cars and gained a new subscriber. These are awesome cars. QV is on order! BTW, the QV does not have an "active front grille", however, it does have an active front splitter.
Alex, great review! I continue to enjoy the real world review and especially the detailed comparisons to the competition ... still love the A4 quatro with the manual transmission
Great review. Thanks for doing this. I'm currently looking for a sporty sedan under 40k. So this is a great resource. I appreciate your summary at the end and your current favorite vehicles in the segment and why they are. 👍
Took it for a test drive. Lots of power and rides great. Dash easy to read as are controls, seats are really comfortable. Designed for shorter folks. I am 6'1" and set the seat to a comfortable driving position went to place my left elbow on the arm rest and hit the B pillar. Ouch. Not built for me. Oh well, back into my 2012 Hyundai Veloster which fits me just fine.
This car looks pretty good, Nice overall interiors althought they should have gone with full digital cockpit since everyone is already there and this car wont be updated for quite sometime...It does have a great handling which is extremely important imho...reliability issues are just over exaggerated...All in all this car is the best of his segment hands down...The mercedes c class might be more comfy and luxurious but lacks on anything else...the audi a4 have better interiors and technolgy but is boring and very dull looking...The other just cant compete on anything with this alfa giulia...
I SOO want one of these! It's just that... reliability is probably not going to be great. Like Clarkson says, though, you're not a real car guy until you own an Alfa!
Elmojito - I had a 1970 Alfa GTV that we used to race on weekends. Sold it after only three years due to impending orders to move overseas (USAF). Only minor problems like trying to keep the Weber carbs clean in those days of cheap leaded gas. Still get a smile every time I remember that car.
Lada were originally Fiat 124 sedans. The Italians sold the molds to the Russians and the Poles. They installed an agricultural Russian made engine and fortified the suspension in order to drive through the potholes and gravel roads. Engine parts were easy to find. In Poland the got what had been Fiat 124 and a larger version of the same car, the125. With their agricultural engines and suspensions it could not compete with anything made in the west, except for their low price. Both the Poles and Russians needed the dollars. Fiat had long replace the 124 with a modern sedan and later on with their firstfrotnt-wheel drive car, the 128. The molds of the 128 were sold to Yugoslavia and who sold the cars to us as the infamous Yugo, with a different engine.
Real world numbers are more in the 5.0-5.1 sec range for the AWD models. My wife has a Stelvio Ti Lusso, which Alfa claims 5.4 0-60, but I’ve measured as low as 5.26. With the Giulia weighing a little bit less than the Stelvio, the numbers reported by Alex here seem realistic. The reviews I’ve seen clocking it higher are usually RWD.
Had my Ti Q with 19" sports Pkg and sport suspension 6 weeks , 2k mi and it's a blast 👌😆 no problems 👌 infotainment need refining as you say . Sun shade on sunroof lets in too much heat and runflats never a chosen to me but the Perrelli's in mine are great with minor road noise noticed. Overall you get to stand out in the crowd in an Alfa and it looks like Italian art . Btw 💰💰 they discount big right now. Expect $6-8k off 😊😃👌 Get the 19" sport Pkg with clover wheels as they make the car
So Giulia drives great, driving dynamics are over german competitors, it handles better than anything else in this segment ... then why it didn't get 'A+' in handling category? 19:12 "Cons: Higher MSRP" A minute earlier you said that it's cheaper than comparably equipped competitors. About the reliability of Giulia's predecessors - Alfa 159 was a really solid car with above average reliability.
Funny how most always say Alfa reliability is shit when they never owned one. They can only repeat what someone says or what they hear. BMW, Mercedes and even Audi reliability isn't all that great but no one brings that up. Jag for one is shit and everyone knows that lol. One of Alfas recent cars actually placed second in car of the year but I don't expect people to know that because they don't do research. Smh.
Alpha has finally hit it out of the park, thanks to FCA. Very glad! Putting the focus back on the driver, not technology. Sad that the industry thinks of its customers second to their tech.
Great review Alex! Sadly, "I" would not fit comfortably in this Giulia seats since I'm considered a "tall" person. (6'3") Otherwise this sporty car is kinda attractive to me. I do hope the Stelvio has the same sporting intentions as the Giulia appears to be, only in a package that would fit me. Again, Thanks Alex!
you mentioned just ONCE the S60 T6 AWD, with 306 hp that is a serious competitor to this giulia, and no I am not talking about the polestar version, but the stock new engine T6 with the 4 cyl
Its reliability issues may stem from incorrect oil choices and fuel. Unfortunately, it's apparently not a winner here in the United States which is surprising due to its provocative and polarizing design. The ZF automatic is an interesting choice, but not as entertaining as a manual gear box .This vehicle in Europe is available with a manual transmission. Disappointingly, in North America this option is not available. Apparently, the vehicle industry is eliminating this transmission choice in the majority of vehicles produced.
LmaoI'm sorry Alex but I gotta give you props you don't hold back when showing us how small or big these cars are at 7:10 and a little before that barely fitting your leg behind that seat, the format and chronological order of your reviews are awesome!... If Alfa Romeo only came out with at least a mid size sedan I would dive in...but this is just too small
People are so dull and... stupid. If you are concerned about reliability of Giulia DON'T BUY IT! I have this Giulia and it's more than brilliant (45 000 km driven). Enjoy your Toyotas!
Great review but too repetitive about its competitors but why was the A3 Quattro at 5.5 sec and the S3 at 4.6 not in the list? I've driven both and they're closer to the Alfa then many others in price, value and size. Cheers.
Excellent as always, thank you! Soooo when are you going to branch out and review motorcycles? As much as you appear to like driving you really should try it if you haven't already. =D There are a bewildering number of choices and some let you fiddle with suspension settings, power modes, etc. You would love it!

@Nick F Cool, thanks for the insight! I really appreciate it
I just took on a 27-month lease (year-end offer and quite competitive) fora Giulia Ti Sports. Great car - but best to lease than buy now until it establishes reliability record in the US.
Beautiful car. Saw one in metalic blue the other day and it was stunning!
Still waiting on that mythical 350 HP middle-ground option in 2020...
I had a q50 before owning the alfa. Interior in the alfa feels much more sufficient and bigger despite what the size chart says
Manual shift push forward to downshift, pull back to upshift . That’s the way it should be, unlike in the majority of other cars.
You should add time annotation to your description. Be great to find pricing details quickly. Great vid.
Alex, great review! I continue to enjoy the real world review and especially the detailed comparisons to the competition ... still love the A4 quatro with the manual transmission
Very wonderful review! Do you know when you'll be reviewing the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek?
Alex on Autos, could you please also include the weight in your reviews? Thanks.
maxxgraber Or even better, power:weight comparisons.
5.0 is really impressive, that engine can pull.
I've been in a veloster and it is smaller. I think you just don't like this car because you can't afford it. haha
greatest reviewer of cars. keep going ☺️
Alex amazing review. You are the best by far.
Its a nice looking car. Not really a luxury car in my opinion, but it will get you from point A to B in style.
Excellent reviewer this fella. Sick to death of the Top Gear/Cadogan smart asses.
Thanks for keeping it real! A car I could actually buy.
Mambo Italiano -- nice choice.
Love this car. Good complete review. They should address the plastic and buttons on the center console. It even looks 'cheap' on screen.
FYI: The trunk of the Alfa has the same capacity as the 3 series, namely 480 liters!
Your Data is PRO!!
Yes!! I've been waiting for this. Great review!
The map can go full screen, but split screen mode needs to be disabled
I SOO want one of these! It's just that... reliability is probably not going to be great. Like Clarkson says, though, you're not a real car guy until you own an Alfa!
FlyinGato - Clarkson also says Volkswagens are bulletproof. And yes if you are worried about reliability maybe you can't afford it.
"Clarkson says, though, you're not a real car guy until you own an Alfa!" -- Clarkson is an idiot.
Thomas Christopher White How is that even remotely funny unless you're a racist?
Good call reviewing this trim level. I feel like I've read and heard more than enough about the Quadrifoglio.
ak2112 never enough if you like the car. I've driven 3 of these and seem to learn something different from each. But all stunning.
This was an excellent review. My only gripe : You mentioned 0- 6- in 5.1 sec. Car magazines rate it at 5.9 or so. Who is correct??
Real world numbers are more in the 5.0-5.1 sec range for the AWD models. My wife has a Stelvio Ti Lusso, which Alfa claims 5.4 0-60, but I’ve measured as low as 5.26. With the Giulia weighing a little bit less than the Stelvio, the numbers reported by Alex here seem realistic. The reviews I’ve seen clocking it higher are usually RWD.
Alex, how much did BMW pay you?
Had my Ti Q with 19" sports Pkg and sport suspension 6 weeks , 2k mi and it's a blast 👌😆 no problems 👌 infotainment need refining as you say . Sun shade on sunroof lets in too much heat and runflats never a chosen to me but the Perrelli's in mine are great with minor road noise noticed. Overall you get to stand out in the crowd in an Alfa and it looks like Italian art . Btw 💰💰 they discount big right now. Expect $6-8k off 😊😃👌
Get the 19" sport Pkg with clover wheels as they make the car
Darren same here. Loving it so far. Got it for a 3 year lease. Drives like a bat out of a cave!
if you don't mind me asking sir, I'm interested in getting this car as well.. how much would it cost to lease? thanks! :)
Junio Labao with good credit Alfa has leases starting at $399/month with $4k down.
Junio Labao they have lease specials but I figured it would cost me less in depreciation that lease pay
Hows this car as in maintenance ? How much should I expect to pay after I buy the car? Parts are easy to come by?
So Giulia drives great, driving dynamics are over german competitors, it handles better than anything else in this segment ... then why it didn't get 'A+' in handling category?
19:12 "Cons: Higher MSRP" A minute earlier you said that it's cheaper than comparably equipped competitors.
About the reliability of Giulia's predecessors - Alfa 159 was a really solid car with above average reliability.
Yeah, this "review" is pathetic.
What is the price.
Smh.
I couldn't agree more. people commenting on a car brand they know nothing about or never owned one.
Ha, I lease a Giulia, reliability is crap...five trips to the dealer in the first 3 months...what a JOKE.
chill out bruh... why you so upset? Alfa's are not meant for everyone.
You immediately contradict yourself with the Jag reference.
Enjoy your Italian Lemon. Goes good with pasta... and a drive to the garage.
Great review..very informative and superb comparison with other models in the class segment.
i see more alfa romeo lately... i guess people start it to like those cars
Alpha has finally hit it out of the park, thanks to FCA. Very glad! Putting the focus back on the driver, not technology. Sad that the industry thinks of its customers second to their tech.
Hey Alex , I really would love to see a review of the new Audi A4, when do you think you could get one to review???
Mambo Italiano. Well done, sir.
Does it have massive power and torque?
JK ... excellent review ... nice job Alex!!
E. Simons, take it for a drive. I'm also 6'3 and my family of 4 fits very well. It wouldn't serve 4 adults tho.
Just because of this car's looks, I am willing to make some mistakes with this beauty!!!!!!
Nice job Alex, I like your reviews. I wish you will review the new volvo xc60 sometime soon. Keep up the good work.
Mechanic's special.
I’m looking get one!! This model or a Mercedes Benz GLA or CLA not sure. Any common issues this brand at all? Is maintenance expensive?
Nice throughout review.
Love your reviews always, and this was no exception. Keep up the great work!!
you mentioned just ONCE the S60 T6 AWD, with 306 hp that is a serious competitor to this giulia, and no I am not talking about the polestar version, but the stock new engine T6 with the 4 cyl
Alfa should do a 7000 + rpm 300 hp+ N/A manual V6.
Nice review, they just need to add Android Auto, Headsup Display, and ventilated seats. Then it would be my next car!!
ventilated seats! damn sun is too aggressive here.
for the record, you can make the nav screen full screen. You've got split screen enabled.
Thank you for reviewing the trim that most people will be buying 😂
Beautiful interior!
Maybe it's just me, but I don't care about infotainment system tiny features while I'm driving our Giulia with big grin on my face.
Great review and also the scenery looked lovely! I’m from the UK so don’t know where this was filmed?
Great review but too repetitive about its competitors but why was the A3 Quattro at 5.5 sec and the S3 at 4.6 not in the list? I've driven both and they're closer to the Alfa then many others in price, value and size. Cheers.
A3 is a fancy Golf, it doesn't compete with dedicated longitudinal engine sport luxury cars like the A4.
You HAVE to review new Alfa Stelvio !
Excellent as always, thank you! Soooo when are you going to branch out and review motorcycles? As much as you appear to like driving you really should try it if you haven't already. =D There are a bewildering number of choices and some let you fiddle with suspension settings, power modes, etc. You would love it!
here in Australia, we have the Veloce trim, same look as quadrifoglio but with 280bhp petrol engine....
Alex i really hope you will do a review of the Stelvio
