    I recently bought a Giulia after years with a 3-series. The car is amazing especially compared to the new and disappointing BMWs. I do worry about reliability but so far rock solid and not even a hint of a problem. And so fast and smooth...

    this was a great review!
    i purchased my 2017 Giulia Ti just this past spring. used, 1 owner, traded up to mas... i'd say probably a decent car owner.
    This is hands down the best car I have ever driven. the great traction makes those winding country/mountain roads that much more fun.
    After 4 months of ownership i took a 5,100 km (roughly 3,000mile) road trip. the mountains of the virginias were my favourite part. the long, winding roads back and forth through beautiful appalachian mountains was by far one of the best drives I have ever been on. So breathtaking. And to be in a Giulia felt that much more amazing. This is not typically the class of vehicle I'm used to in my life so I am proud of the vehicle I have obtained in my life. I knew nothing of the company before coming across it by chance while car shopping and it has been the best decision I could have made.

    I have 2017 same color, same wheels too! Driving it is like a dream. Four years, 35K miles not a single problem. Oil is borderline exotic and a little hard to find, spark plugs borderline exotic and a bit hard to find, coolant borderline exotic and a little hard to find; I just order from Mopar and its all good. Its a car, take care of it and it will take care of you.

It ran fine on the highway but she was clear she doesn't like that cheap isht gas. She is Italian...high maintenance but worth it!

    Good review, you hit major points very well. I like the positives and negatives instead of just singing praises just because manufacturer gave you a car to test drive. One suggestion: We all know what you look like after first minute of the video. Please spend more video time showing us the car, how it drives etc. I came here to see the car, not the presenter. Edit so your commentary just a narrative to a car, and not a newscast-style presentation. Minor gripe, but its there

    Did your Stelvio have the $995 leather package? It ads leather to the dash and doors. Every time someone reviews an Alfa without it, they complain about the interior. With it, they love it. The Giulia you were in had it. That and the sport package gets you full leather and the paddles. Plus other sports goodies. D for dynamic mode allows some slip of the traction and stability controls.

    Ive been looking for a good review for this particular car as I have traded my Giulietta on one.
    A white Giulia with sunroof
    Your review was good but I have to agree with some of the comments here
    Donuts...loud exhaust and rev heading are something for the race track and not really for a luxury saloon that you pay just over $50K AUD for
    Your camera angles highlighted the interior nicely
    Big thing here in Australia is playing with audio and comms devices whilst driving...You will be fined if caught..more so phones
    If it's all set before you head off the rotary joystick shouldn't be an issue
    Cheers.😊

    • @fromfleshtosteel
      @fromfleshtosteel 4 года назад

      Couldn’t agree more. I think the ONLY real complaint I have of my Q4 is that there’s no way to permanently set the auto engine off at stoplights to off. I hate having to push that off button every time I turn the car on... if I remember to. And also, with that engine off, the A/C kicks off while the fan still works. That entire feature needs work bad. But other than that, I could not love my car more.

    • @andrewbellinger6120
      @andrewbellinger6120 3 года назад +2

      No, it's a lot more than a "suburban sedan that's souped up a bit"
      Multilink front and rear suspension like true exotic and race cars. Same Carbon fiber driveshaft and ZF8 transmission that holds 500HP in QV model. Perfect weight distribution and amazing chassis rigidity. Forged heads, rods and oil squirters so car can be tuned to 400HP without engine blowing up. Alfa started with designing the quadrifoglio that has 500HP and this car inherited much of that architecture, so it is way over engineered and over spec'd relative to equivalent cars on the market. Plus its plain gorgeous.- I have had 911 drivers, corvettes and R8s yield to me on the road and give me thumbs up while driving.

      Personally I dont mind having more options. It's very unlikely that anyone approved for the base will be rejected for the sport, and that's what.. a $20 difference in monthly payments?
      I say 290 is fine for anyone that's just here for the interior. And $20 is fine for anyone that also wants the ponies.

    Hi, Good video. I mostly had similar feelings - I had a few long test drives with Giulia and Stelvios including manual and diesels, as I'm about to buy Giulia, but I have 2 comments:
    1.manual gearbox hasn't been and I doubt it will be ever available in any of 2.0T pertrol engine anywhere on the World, so it is not that Americans are the ones treated different way that rest of the world. At least you have 280HP engine in either RWD or AWD configuration - in continental Europe 280HP comes only with AWD, and in UK it comes only as RWD, and so on both markets there are people who complain. We have 200HP variant with RWD on continent, so if one wants RWD needs 200HP and do ECU mods (luckily 200HP engine as is can do 280HP at least current production is nearly identical as 280HP version).
    Manual gearbox was/is offered only with diesel engines since mid 2016, but this gearbox version was not selling, so once they brought 2.0 pertol half year later in continental Europe, they did not offered manual transmission at all for petrol.
    In terem sof Quadrifoglio, there was manual available on early produciton, but it was not impressive and a lot of customers preferred automatic anyway, and so nowadays no longer manual can be ordered for quadrifoglio.
    2. In terms of traction control off function - I guess ther is very tiny percenage of people for whom it may be real disadvantage, but lets be realistic, most of even car enthusiasts, even if they had possibility they would try it a few times with TC off and then never ever do it again, as they would have enough fun driving the car with traction control on while still staying on safer side. Because this car is brilliant how it drives, how it deals with road bends, how precise is the steering, and so a few minor things like that at the end should not matter.
    BTW, did you try how it behaves with DNA selector set to D (traction control kick in threshold may allow for bit more fun and should not be that aggressive as for N or A modes) - at least it works that way in other Alfa I have (Giulietta, which is FWD model not sold in US)?

      I've owned 5 ALFAS....one better than the next...I still own 3....1964 Giulia Sprint GT, 1991 164 S, 2017 Giulia Quad....I will tell that my Quad has been BULLETPROOF !!! It was properly updated before delivery and it is the best car I've ever owned....My 164 S is an amazing car but it needed proper maintenance which most people didn't do...for example, it is an interference engine, so what that means is that an interference engine is a type of internal combustion piston engine in which one or more valves in the fully open position extends into any area that the piston may travel into. Therefore, if the timing belt snaps, you've got a major problem...On the 164 the timing belt (as well as the tensioner and you might as well do the water pump) should be switched at 30,000 mile intervals or every 4 years max....therefore, if this bit of slightly expensive maintenance was ignored, the engine was toast....No different than M 5's and their Rod Bearing problems or 911 with IMS bearings that cause complete engine failure...however, somehow, the German cars are excluded from the stigma of "unreliability" because they're GERMAN !!! HOGWASH...Any high performance car will call for more attention by the owner...If you are not able to make that committment, buy a Consumer Reports approved TOASTER...I mean TOYOTA....So to answer your very good question, yes my Giulia Quad has been perfect...but so have all of my other Alfas !!!

      Even the 2.0 liter Turbo Giulia is a GREAT CAR ! ...You see BMW takes an average 3 Series sedan and then adds things to get to the "M" variant...Alfa created the "BIG DAWG" first and then selectively trimmed away components to arrive at the base Giulia....so that means Chassis, Suspension, Steering (all best in class), Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft, Braking, all transfer to the base model making its handling very precise and sharp. This approach is why the Giulia is so much better than the 3 Series....
