Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews great video! I’m new here and I would like to know how to enter you’re giveaways I’m always confused when it comes to RUclips 😅😅
Finally got sartorial ended up finding it for 80$ for the big bottle so I jumped at it, can’t believe I waited so long! Amazing fragrance I would definitely have paid full price. Also love beau du jour but sartorial is a beast can’t pick between them.
Never tried Penhaligon but TF Beau de Jour is delicious! I’ve been wearing it for a week now and the compliments are constant! On my skin it turns into a musky soft drydown. I just ordered another bottle
Love and have both fragrances. The TF one is such a beautiful lavender, and the longevity is out of this world for me. As you mentioned, it’s loud and one of my favorite. Sartorial is a lot more subdued but I still love it.
Watched the whole video. I actually use to steal my brother's Brut when I was younger. Not interested in both fragrances as they are for men, but I just love watching and listening to you speak.
To me Sartorial smells more pleasant and richer/intriguing. Also at least on paper strips, it seemed to me it has more longevity than Beau de Jour. I have a Fougere Royale in transit right now, looking forward to it. For the Spring I might order Sartorial some time soon as well.
I would say that these two are very different from each other, whey even compare them? Beau de jour is more modern, office friendly and masculine. Sartorial is more for the dated enthusiast I would say. (Both are good but not catering to the same audience)
@@dieu5041 didn't like it - the beeswax/steam accord makes it feel stuffy, like an airless tailor's shop where they've just been ironing the suits. It's not how I want to feel when I'm *wearing* a suit.
Recently got BDJ, I enjoy it. Only wore it once and I got about six hours out of it on my skin. Sprayed it on my sweater in the morning and I was still able to catch faint wafts of it well into the evening.
I have both Sartorial and the old TF BdJ.. I like the ambery honeyed dry down of the Sartorial.. whereas I like bdJ because it dries down to a strong patchouli on my skin. So I wear either depending on my mood.
Considering that my old bottle of beau de jour is all but gone , I'm so glad tom ford re released the juice. My favourite release of the year so far 🙏 I've not tried the penthaligons, so it's great to learn more about it from you. Wearing dolce passione by pantheon Roma today 👌
Just curious, are you a little miffed that this same juice you was sold for (and you purchased for) double what it's being sold for now? I feel like I would be. Assuming all purchased at retail cost.
I tested BdJ last night and loved it - it makes me think of my Dad (but not in a dated way). I got my gf to test it and she said it burnt here nostrils - she liked the immediate scent but then felt it was too much (I assume the mint was too much for her).
BDJ is my top summer day lounging frag. I think I would appreciate The PEN equally as well for its subtle differences that you described. Therefore I will be adding it to my collection. I appreciate your passion for this hobby and find you to be quite thee connoisseur, and although fragrance is subjective much like art and music I line up pretty good with your takes and taste in the sameway myself. Thanks Sebastian, keep rocking the reviews👍🏻🤘🏻😎
For me, most valuable thing in the fragrances is the idea - why it’s created and for whom. In my opinion Penhaligon’s fragrances have no idea at all. All of them pretend to be something, but empty inside.
Although I agree it has a sharp aggression, the lavender in BDJ is super relaxing. The amber is super interesting as well, but I spray and respray before bed just for that lavender.
FYI on sartorial I made a recent purchase in store at the art of shaving on Long Island and they are selling off there stock of sartorial I picked up a bottle for 57 dollars after tax. If anyone is on the island try to get in and see if they still have any left
I agree about the metallic smell you get with TF Bdj. I get the same vibe from Pegasus PDM. Obviously not near the same but that metallic smell comes out of both.
Hi Sebastian, awesome review! The way you describe TF as a loud fouger( I am not saying a fougere would fill a room) makes it very interesting to me. I am not sure why other known reviewers describe it as a skin scent after 2 hours.... thanks
I can't lie. I have never owned a Fougere Fragrance that I know of but, but, but, if I were to choose between the two it would be Penhaligon's Sartorial because it been around for so long and a proven Fougere. Not to mention the bottles are so cool looking. Thanks Sebastian for the video and giveaway. 🤗
a better comparison, IMO, is Penhaligon's Douro Eau de Portugal and TF Beau de Jour. They smell nearly identical with more lemon in the Penhaligon's. I got the Penhaligon's a few months ago for less than $50 in full presentation, so I still think it's a better deal than TF
you frag reviewers are going to bankrupt me... lol... after seeing this i have to get both. i LOVE fougeres. to date all i have is john varvatos artisan acqua and maison margiela at the barbers. these both sound fantastic since i really enjoy lavender.
Great review . I have brute 33 and also imperial leather . God there an old cologne now. Also have old spice. All from the 70s. But I also got some beautiful geogio Amani wich just latest so so long. Great stuff.i also have a new one but can’t remember the name but it’s very nice. Unfortunately doesn’t last long long unlike the Giorgio Armani.
Imo buy neither simply grab a bottle of Davidoffs Zino save your money because to my nose its the same scent, if you're in doubt of its similarities buy a sample.
I literally love old-school barbershop fragrances / aromatic fougeres but this "Beau De Jour" release smells so synthetic to my nose... they lowered the price but also the quality of it.
Awesome comparison. Maybe it was the description of Sartorial but I never ran it through my mind as a fougere. I bought my bottle of Sartorial (100ml) in 2017 for $54 shipped from an eBay seller. I wish I knew I’d like it so much, the seller still exists but only has a few women’s fragrances left, one of the best eBay purchase I’ve made. Sartorial is slept on by so many people. For lavender notes, Lavender Extreme from TF is good, but I am quite fond of the lavender in Memoir Man from Amouage.
@@geomegalogiannis8161 Sebastian seems to always prefer older scents to anything modern and hates most aquatics. I would not blindly follow his every word.

hi can i know where did you find it??? thanks
That's a great way to describe Sartorial. It's very relaxing and nostalgic to me as well.

Both, sartorial got that metallic honey to it if u smell for it. Amazing though. BDJ is lavender city. Both amazing get both you’ll be happy you did

A bit late, but I just want to say that Fougere Royale is just too beautiful.
I would say that these two are very different from each other, whey even compare them?

Sambuccashake Why compare them? He explains exactly why in the first thirty seconds of the video. Did you have the sound on?
Between these two and Bon Monsieur, what’s your ultimate pick?
I much prefer the more modern and better smelling Tom Ford BDJ over Sartorial. The dry down is ahhhhmazing too.
I found the Beau de Jour feels classy without being "old" but I didn't get much longevity. Looking forward to trying the Sartorial.
What did you think?

Dear Sebastian, My preference is probably Sartorial but Beau de jour isn't a bad fragrance either. Thanks
Sartorial sounds very interesting to me. It's still $150+ here but if I find a good deal I'll jump on it!
Sebastian I love Fougere colognes. I have the new Beau de Jour and I love it. Is getting Sartorial just overkill for me to buy then?
I tested BdJ last night and loved it - it makes me think of my Dad (but not in a dated way). I got my gf to test it and she said it burnt here nostrils - she liked the immediate scent but then felt it was too much (I assume the mint was too much for her).
Sartorial all the way. I got this on amazon for $58 two years ago. The price has really shot up! Wow. Even the 50ml bottles go for over $100
Penhaligons has always been luxury, I’m amazed it cost £58 even 5 years ago!
Great video and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try these fragrances and have a blessed day
I prefer "crisp" over "sharp" 😉
Haven't smelled Tom Ford one yet, but Sartorial is an instant love for me :D
Tom Ford's BDJ is solid - suited and booted👍🏾
Id like a modern Fougere to add to my collection. What would be the best suggestion?

how many sprays of beau de jour going to work?
Beau d jour is my favorite release in the last decade.
That is some statement, you must really love it.
Love both but Beau du Jour is better in my experience. :-)
Seb which one of these 2 is closest to YSL Rive Gauche pour Homme ?
FYI on sartorial I made a recent purchase in store at the art of shaving on Long Island and they are selling off there stock of sartorial I picked up a bottle for 57 dollars after tax. If anyone is on the island try to get in and see if they still have any left
Love Sartorial. Underrated gem.
Beau de Jour by far. 😁I find Sartorial very dated. I know people love it, but it's just not for me. Great comparison and review!
I love Sartorial and wish it was a bit cheaper. Gotta get my hands on a bottle of it.
I agree about the metallic smell you get with TF Bdj. I get the same vibe from Pegasus PDM. Obviously not near the same but that metallic smell comes out of both.
Sartorial would be hard to beat, much more secure and dapper. TF is always modernizing and can be expensive. Thanks Sebastián
Hi Sebastian, awesome review! The way you describe TF as a loud fouger( I am not saying a fougere would fill a room) makes it very interesting to me. I am not sure why other known reviewers describe it as a skin scent after 2 hours.... thanks
Not my experience at all. Both the private blend and signature BDJ really project on me; enough that I ALWAYS get noticed.
I can't lie. I love my decant of BdJ. Was gonna buy Sartorial today. May just go for Masculine Pluriel if it smells like Brute though 😂
Hey Sebastian how does the re release of beau stack up to the original? I have the original should I just run through it or hold on to it.
I have heard there are minute differences. I never owned the original but I tested and felt like they are pretty close! :)
Thank you for the decants site!!!!!

While I see similarities of Penhaligon's Douro with Creed Bois Du Portugal but not with the TF sadly, I'll compare again! :)
Yes I'm a fan of fougères! Both are great! Beau du jour is more available.
Does Sartorial smell like Duc de Vervins Houbigant?
Don't really like this style on myself but the TF one is nice

Are there any excellent patchouli fragrances that is earthy without many additional notes?
Check here perhaps? ruclips.net/video/vvpPDYP1n8M/видео.html
Do you have any idea how these compare to YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme?
Here catch this video: ruclips.net/video/5DvTDmeovfo/видео.html
what cologne do you recommend comes closest to YSL Rive Gauche. My favorite barbershop style cologne that has been discontinued.
Try At The Barbers or these two could do the trick as well.
Fine accoutrement edt is probably the closest and the cheapest option.

Oh yeah that’s it, it was Gucci H R. Also have the male version of joop.not a fan of joop. It’s ok. Had that bottle for like 15 years.
Easily BDJ, Sartorial is one I didn't enjoy, that metallic note is strange.
I heard BDJ was synthetic though
I think the TF is the first I’ve tried of that kind. I did enjoy it, but have to try more.
Oh cool. Please keep me posted on others you try! :)
I have both, and love both❤
TF is my favorite house, but Sartorial wears much better on my skin than BdJ.
I tried sartorial, I just don’t like the dry down, I much prefer TF.

Can you please do a review on Penhaligon's Lp No.9?
I literally love old-school barbershop fragrances / aromatic fougeres but this "Beau De Jour" release smells so synthetic to my nose... they lowered the price but also the quality of it.
I feel that Endymione does not get mentioned enough in this category
I dunno, now I’m leaning more toward the Penhaligon.
Great review bruh, TF for me
TF last and project 2*times more so worth the money.
Great review by the way...

imo definitely not Sartorial. I worked for penhaligons in 2017/8 and the very few people who bought this perfume were old men
johnny spex so I guess the answer is neither! Don’t buy either 😂
I didn't smell Beau de jour but I really like sartorial! And from your video and the way they smell I think sartorial wins!!

Sartorial hands downs!
Very intrigued by the name "Beau de Jour" which means "male prostitute" in French slang! 🤔🤔🤔
Yes Belle De Jour is a famous film that I love. I totally get that for sure! :)
Good, I hate TF beau de J, so I get that , I will dislike sartorial too I guess 😂
BDJ smells like Zino Davidoff
Beau de Jour BLOWS Sartorial out of the water. Sartorial literally smells like Brut.
