I kept smelling this one perfume he’d wear and I asked him, what is that?! Black Orchid, by Tom Ford. There would be days where I’d clock into work, and catch a whiff of it in the air, I’d say to my self, Franklin is probably working today. No kidding, I walk into the stockroom and there he is, wearing Black Orchid. Eventually bought myself a bottle in 2015, still have it. Fell in love with all of TF’s creations. Tried other houses as well but something about TF, his vision, his taste, make TF almost irresistibly sexy, compared to any other fragrance house on the market. With that being said, I’m off to eBay to browse some Neroli Portofini and Ebene Fume. 🌊🌌

Tom Ford was an amazing director for fragrances since m7 but now they are just expensive commercial overpriced designer scents....sooooo sad after old masterpieces as Tobacco Vanille, F Fabulus, Amber Absolute and so many others
Whilst I cant say I like nor love Black Orchid, I absolutely will and have to give it the respect deserves. It smells foul on my skin and is too overpowering. I have smelled it on others and it has smelled divine, it just doesn’t work with my body chemistry. Now, the house of Tom Ford is a house I love & respect - the house that birthed one of my favourite perfumes: Vanille Fatale. Now that is a work of art. Black Orchid is much Like Thierry Mugler’s Angel - polarising. You’re going to love it or hate it with no in-between. Alas, it’s a no for me, however I appreciate the craftsmanship that’s gone into making this product.

Like they said, it’s synthesized. Also regarding the formula, you likely saw a formula that was recreated from running the fragrance under GC to analyze the composition. This stuff is good enough, but it never really shows the original formula, particularly with complex fragrances like Black Orchid.
