Yes Tom Ford has said the fragrance that had the most influence over him was Zino..even said if there was one perfume from the past that he’d have loved to have created it was Zino..
Really?? Wow. I have owned Zino since the early 90’s I always wondered why it wasn’t as popular as cool water. I love it also. I wear it to bed like aroma therapy. Lol
I owe both of these. BDJ has a more tolerable opening and generally it doesn't develop much. Zino on the other hand has a more harsh opening but all those notes fighting in the opening, create later a drydown to die for. If I had to choose one, that would be Zino.
Appreciate the review. I have Zino & as you stated for the price you can't go wrong, even with the reformulated version, it's a great fragrance. Keep the videos coming!! I appreciate your content.
I've never had my nose on BDJ, but i have Zino. I'd compare it to any of my better frags (i have few good ones) in terms of originality and scent-it's attractive. Considering the price AND that its still available, it's a must have for enyone that appreciates older scent generations
@@raysimms427 Though very similar , Beau de Jour is a more concentrated longer lasting fragrance , Zino is an excellent fragrance for the money even if it was twice the price . I will be purchasing more Zino to increase my stock and maybe one more Beau de Jour as I have a half bottle left .
I'm a huge fan of BDJ and was looking for a clone/dupe and saw that Zino was close. I'm wearing Zino today, and at first I was nervous because the opening definitely isn't similar. I gave it some time and this thing dried down lovely. So far so good. I'm new to your channel but I appreciate your review, you kept it very honest.
my uncle wore this everyday for years when it first came out, I always loved that scent as a child. Does Zino even own this anymore ? they don't sell it on their official website I know there are other sources to purchase from, however it would be great if Zino made this to its original formulation and make a Parfum edition. it seems to get a lot of positive feedback overall.
I bought Beau de Jour not too long ago and I really like its aromatic freshness and lavender. Now I am very curious to smell Zino, first of all because I realised I really like the barbershop style of fragrance, but also now because you say they are in fact quite distinct, which makes me even more curious. Penhaligon's Sartorial smells very close to Beau de Jour to my nose (albeit with a stronger presence of honey and less mint)
This is the first time, when i agree with someone at the opening of both scents. Yes, they're totaly different at the top, and get closer to each other later.
I like to layer them! BDJ is clearly the "better fragrance" on its own but I like the subtle vanilla and dirtiness that Zino adds to it when layered. I also find BDJ MUCH more modern smelling despite the heavy patchouli. I'll add Zino when I want more of a vintage feel.
@@ScentTrail cool thanks for the reply! Just subscribed today, we seem to have a similar nose and way of thinking about fragrances. And can tell right away that you're not a shill which is refreshing! Keep it up my friend.
HELLO..dior homme sport or dior homme and tom ford Beau du Jour which one should I choose, different, not underfoot and not childish, mysterious sexy dinner and then on holiday with a stylish shirt, and what would be your recommendations, (except aventus, dior suavage, terre hermes and marly layton I don't want to
I think where you have any fougere type perfume that leans on Patchouli so heavily in the base, they're inevitably going to smell "similar" (ish). How similar will depend entirely on your nose, as we all perceive and experience smells ever so slightly differently. The openings of these two are, as you say, really quite different. The drydown, however, is where similarities that do exist, are apparent. Personally, I don't believe owning one makes owning the other redundant - especially with such a phenomenal price difference. Although similar, there are enough (for me) differences, so owning both is just fine for me. And to be honest, even if they were the same price I would absolutely wear Zino more frequently. That rosewood is heaven, and the patchouli is really very, very well done. (Note; I haven't tried the signature line BDJ. My BDJ is the original 'private blend' version, now discontinued, which is a slightly different formulation to the newer signature line)
Bumped into this review and bought Zino. It is lovely. Not as interesting as the BDJ but the dry down is lovely. I get the hint of rose and vanilla. A bit of lavender and mint would have made Zino closer to BDJ.
I've been wearing BDJ a lot lately. Really enjoy the Drydown. 👊 Zino is definitely a fragrance from the 80s . A good fragrance classic 👌 Personally I prefer BDJ.😉
Hello sir, do you recommend zino ? Im gonna blind buy, havent ever smelled beau de jour so im confused. is it good for high heat or will it become too cloying? Pls suggest.
I like Zino . It is a bit dated at first, however, as it dries zino will get closer to the Beau de Jour. Zino is in the style of Beau de Jour. You do have to like the classic smells, if you don't it will probably not work for you. 😉
@@ScentTrail im getting it for $35+. Is it worth it at that price ? From davidoff line i only liked horizon. But i love almost all tom fords. So this kinda interests me. And i love barbershop fragrances and my favs include d&g pour homme and azzaro pour homme intense. Btw that thumbnail was dope ❤
I have use both of them for long time, ( not review for 5 min) And Beau De jour is way more modern , last longer, projects way way more and honestly compared to other TF i have to say its on top 3 on projection. Also Beau De Jour is way more Aromatic in the Air (not in hand ) .
Omg. It was my 51st bday so was set in buying Beau Du Jour and or Oud Wood. Man I LOVE Zino. But BDJ is did not like. At all. Which is sad, I was hoping to like it. Oud wood i liked better but was also turned off by the opening. The dry down however was so good. Instead i bought TF Ombre Leather Parfum, and Louis Vuitton L’Immensité. Both fantastic long lasting elegant scents. Thx again!
Beau de Jour only has a superficial similarity to Zino. Its like a 3 Dimensional Zino. Zino is like a picture scene in a magazine, whereas Beau de Jour is that scene come to real life. If you want an even more niche representation of the Beau de Jour scent profile, at a higher price, try ARC by Mallo.
I have two Lancaster bottles, and I also have a 50 of TF's Beau de Jour. I picked up the Lancaster bottles for just under 1 a ml. I'm glad I did. I wear them a lot, along with the Tom Fords.
@@ScentTrail I managed to get an original 125 ml vintage bottle (metal can) last year from a Hungarian webshop for only £80. It is the best barbershop scent in my opinion. It's not worth paying the hefty price for YSL because TF BJ gives out a very similar vibe, it's a nice take on RG.
So the big shot got his inspiration from the cheapy ?, I wonder how many niche fragrances worth $200+ to $500+ were "inspire" (duped?) by the cheapies these big shot niche companies criticize as mostly low quality synthetic and make so much fun of?.
