Was a really bad ending. Kingmaking is not fun at all. If you have 0 chance of winning, don't give someone the game, wait and see what happens. Maybe you will get a small window of opportunity.

Maybe they would have atracked each other and she could sneak in a win. But attacking like she did made it 100% sure Josh would win. That is not a good play.

I don't think Gyre Sage works with Zaxara tokens due to the wording. The tokens enter as 0/0 and then get counters so that didn't exactly work as it should have.
"The Hydra token enters the battlefield as a 0/0 creature. Any abilities that modify or trigger on this event apply. After the token is on the battlefield [[but before any player can take actions]], +1/+1 counters are put onto the token." This means that the gyre sage trigger goes on the stack but will not resolve before the hydra gets its counters. Evolve always triggers with an if clause, meaning any modifiers to power and toughness can be put onto the stack and resolve before it does. The interaction would not be legal if Evolve said "whenever a creature with higher power or toughness enters the battlefield". Then the hydras wouldn't even trigger Evolve. My vote is that this interaction is kosher.
@@suotela Gyre sage has ruling of: Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, check its power and toughness against the power and toughness of the creature with evolve. If neither stat of the new creature is greater, evolve won’t trigger at all. (2013-04-15) though

Yeah, I thought that would be the decent thing too. Realistically though, it likely wouldn't have made a difference; Capsize with Buyback (multiple times) and an Ice-Fang Coatl on board means that Ladee won't be getting through in Combat any time soon. I imagine it was Ladee' choice not to make that deal - and drag out the inevitable.

However, Josh had multiple bounce effects with Capsize (+buyback), and a Deathtouch creature to block her Abomination/biggest threat. Everyone here complaining about master of cruelties and the zenith but there as actually a pretty game changing mistake in the match. As a fellow Zaxara player, important to note that the tokens created from Zaxara enter as 0/0s THEN get counters added ,unlike most hydras. So stuff like Gyre sage (or say garruk's uprising) don't trigger sadly! Bit of an oops there especially since it made that torment 1 bigger and tapped for a fair amount later in the match. Still love the content though and great fun match! Just wanted to point this out so other people don't make that same mistake :)
At 24:20 doesnt evolve not trigger because the hydra technically enters as a 0/0? I’ve run into this debate a lot with my zaxara deck and that’s the conclusion I’ve settled on.

One of the very best things about Josh's Jorn deck is that most of the cards in it aren't at the top of Jorn's EDHREC page. Josh consistently proves that Commmander will always be a brewer's format.
I could totally see an x spell at instant speed being cast to increase his commanders power by x working with the mana doubleing with an attack trigger. Commander damage is not by anymeans a strong win con but that one player that may be a problem... Its worth including as a side strategy when your main strategy isnt looking fast enough for the arch enemy.

Kinda like how a creature that says it can't attack alone, Can still hit player a player by itself as long as another creature is swinging at another player.

Amazing match. Brilliant. What a game! Only thing i can say though is that Black Sun's Zenith is shuffled back into its owner library when it resolves. Jordan probably forgot about it. Josh remembered it well when he shuffled his blue Sun's zenith back.
