@@TolarianCommunityCollege I actually think it's a little unfair to say only the first season was good. Season 2 was decent also (actually I watched all 5 but I won't pretend the show didn't have a downward slope)

Beginning of the game: Can't be too mean, but don't want to lose. Middle of the game: I tutor into an infinite combo before the game gets too interesting. End of the game: My threat assessment won me the game!
The natural draw of Felidar Guardian does make tutor for Kiki-Jiki the obvious play. The only way to prevent Rocco from being a combo deck is to play a different commander.
I did not expect that tierzoo could be even more likable than he already was. I love tierzoo's content, it brings joy to my heart and seeing him be such a cool dude makes him even more sympathetic!
Small misplay at 46:57, is the Undercover Operative comes into play as a copy of Volrath, then it is a 7/5 Nazgul and survives the Elesh Norn, all the counters still happens, AND still has Volrath's Copy Ability with counters, and returns to being a Nazgul instead of Volrath when the effect ends. @@caseyfurey1348 yeah that was lame as fuck, the game seemed like it would get interesting and that discount viking larper just won out of nowhere with the lamest infinite copy kiki jiki combo, such a shame
It was a lame ending to the match. But if prof had played the correct choice and just cloned Elesh Norn, that combo wouldn't have been possible. A lot of shuffle up and play videos come down to bad threat assessment strategic misplays and "you hit me so i have to hit you" banter
@@rustknuckleirongut8107 "jank" (in MTG speak) is slang for a deck that's built around a cool, powerful combo, but the deck is built poorly / unreliably.

46:30 Prof can choose Operative to copy the Volrath Nazgul instead of Spark Nazgul, if he do so it won't die because the 7/5 from Volrath copy ability is copiable value. Also if Operative was copying the 1/2 Nazgul, it will die before the ring tempts you trigger resolved, thus only Spark Nazgul and Volrath Nazgul will trigger from the rings tempt you (2 counters each instead of 3).
Apiarists are those who tend to bees, specifically the long-tonged bees of the family Apidae. To include wasps and other similar insects you would probably need to reference the superfamily Apoidea. So maybe you would more appropriately be an Apoidist...?
I love how Patch was just trying to team up and do some fun stuff while everyone else was just progressively creating a more ridiculous amount of creatures
In our play group, when a player drops an unfun combo like Kyle Hill did and wins, we just 'Play for Silver'. That player is out of the game and, b/c our board states are still the same, we just keep playing. Sure they won, but they don't get to have fun and everyone else just keeps on playing.
I'm so happy that Prof stayed on flavor for his deck but it's kind of funny that if he had done that one play then the game would not have been able to end how it did.
Tierzoo is such a cool channel. I feel kinda dumb since I've only been watching it the last couple months, and after I watched that first video, I was hooked;

cEDH channel Play to Win's list of rules for Casual Commander deck construction: * NO infinite loops * NO "I win right now" cards * NO mana-positive rocks (except Sol Ring) * NO land producing more than one mana * NO tutors less than 3 mana cost * NO free counterspells * NO card priced over $100 Needless to say, Kyle's $2700 Rocco deck fails to meet multiple casual EDH guidelines. Nevertheless, last year the Play to Win gang invited Kyle over for a round of Casual Commander: ruclips.net/video/xAnyX-We3eY/видео.html True to form, Kyle plays a $1400 cEDH deck with Karn, Legacy Reformed (add one mana for each artifact), a 5-drop commander he slips into play after tapping only 3 mana(!) The guys let this blunder pass (cuz hey, it's just "casual" right?), after which Kyle drops the rest of his hand into play. He soon casts notorious stax artifact Ward of Bones, which prohibits others from playing more creatures, artifacts, enchantments, or lands than Kyle has in play. Next turn, he casts a Strip Mine and proceeds to create an infinite loop with a zero-cost Sensei's Divining Top, which he exploits to draw 15 cards at once, ending the game with Aetherflux Reservoir. IMO, the only way this episode fell short of perfection was in failing to rechristen the show: "Pay to Win with Kyle Hill". A few highlights: $120 - Metalworker $200 - Mana Crypt $280 - Grim Monolith
Such an anticlimactic way to win a game, a bit disappointed because the majority of the other episodes really lived off of genuine gameplay. Nonetheless, the banter was fun, the random facts really enriched this episode and the unique decks really gave me new ideas for commander.
Wow, one of the only ads I have never skipped is this intro. The freeze frame of Professor 1 and Professor B, the self-depricating humour of who Professor will lose and the strong script and landing the ending.
That's an intro. You went crazy there for a sec, I loved it. Wish you kept the gimmick going for an interview of the players, but I can't fault you for stopping there. Kudos to everyone involved.
I do feel like Kyle Hill took most of the time talking and, not being fan of self-depreciative and sometimes almost agressive jokes, I couldn't enjoy the episode as much as I expected. Also, having the only deck as the table which is : "tuto from deck combo pieces to insta-win", felt very disappointing when everybody seemed to have a fun deck for multiplayer. Between prof and his "i could copy elesh norn but really i will stick to all nazgul" to Anna Margaret being "i like cats ! let's do cats !" and Tier Zoo having a gluntch deck that I was talking about just before watching the show as one of the group hug commander i would really enjoy to play, there were lots of fun things. Seeing "tuto -> esper" into "tuto combo kiki-jiki / felidar guardian" was just... yeah ok you win. But what I most got was the "i play to win" / "my commander seems to hate everything and i relate to this" vibe. Also felt like with how much he talked, loudly, and gathered all the attention, that other people at the table couldn't express things they wished to. I also love when people talk about what they like, so I did really appreciate people talking about their passions and past, and I wish it was more encouraged by everybody. I love seeing people having a good time together and finding other people who like them sharing what they like. So yeah, not personal, in that I don't know Kyle Hill at all and he may be a wonderful person, but this episode I was excited to watch with friends turned out to leave a kind of bitter feeling at the end. I hope other people enjoyed it though and most of all that all people playing it did too.
This is definitely a Top 10 episode, without question. The intro? Amazing. The truth bombs about Sliders? Fantastic. Kyle Hill being Kyle Kill? Toasty.
The Prof’s English degree origin story is exactly what happened to me. Science is cool but it’s also very difficult and lots of numbers and English is pretty chill.
@@thetimebinderYou can have very expensive lands and still be a casual deck just like how a competitive deck can win with $15 cards (Thoracle Consultation). Casual vs Competitive has nothing to do with the cost of a deck.
@@thetimebinderYeah, but having a commander tutor to pull out the infinate combo kind of is. Or at least its a bit of a jerk move, especially when they had another player take out an infinite combo. Like the point of a casual game is to be able to run fun, thematic decks where you don't need all of the counterspells and removal because theoretically another player shouldn't be running a infinite combo deck with tutors.
@@thetimebinder Dual lands don't make a deck competitive. Tutors increase the consistency of a deck (specifically in a singleton format), and combos mean that you 100% win if you're opponents are not running efficient interaction. Both of these are the two primary aspects of what makes cEDH competitive. The third being fast mana, but not mana fixing like duals.
Hey Prof, where did your evil twin the Tolarian Instructor go? We'd all love to see their vile ass again. As always love the content and glad to have you as a leader of our community. Keep up the awesome work!
47:12 If Prof copied Volrath instead, which was at the time, a 7/5 Nazgul with the ability "(1 generic): become copy of target creature with a counter on it blah blah" would it stick around? I imagine Undercover Operative remains a Nazgul with that ability as a 7/5 permanently (Before counters obviously) or would it become Volrath at the end of turn and legendary rules hit? (Or since it's ringbearer as a nazgul, and thus, legendary, does it copy the legendary status from Ringbearer or does Volrath keep legendary status when copying?)
MAYBE when given ONE restriction of don't run infinite combos is stipulated you should follow the rules. I think this is because MAYBE people don't like to see predictable boring outcomes, like what we where just subjected to. I find this particularly mind numbing when the tutor for said combo, is automatically in your hand to start the game. It's a singleton format for a reason, ONE that I doubt you understand.@@thetimebinder
@@damonlouis6536 I agree there was a failure of Rule 0 since TierZoo was told to not run infinite combos yet Kyle did. As to infinite combos being boring, that is merely a preference. Plenty of people find infinite combos (both playing them and trying to stop them) to be exciting and fun.

So yeah, not personal, in that I don't know Kyle Hill at all and he may be a wonderful person, but this episode I was excited to watch with friends turned out to leave a kind of bitter feeling at the end. I hope other people enjoyed it though and most of all that all people playing it did too.
I'm right with you and there are a lot of comments also stating similar discomfort with his behavior.
Yeah considering the prof made tierzoo remove his combo piece's from his deck.
I'm so happy to hear that you will be at Magiccon! I was already excited to go, now I'm so much more!
I'm rooting for Anna! 😃 My feeling is that Kyle's surliness can't possibly stand up to Anna's ebullience. Let's watch and see!
*spoilers*
Well, shucks.
Absolutely loved that intro from the Professor and the Professor
Ah yes the Prof’s signature catchphrase: “Howzit?!”
Your videos bring me joy. Thank you professor!
This is definitely a Top 10 episode, without question. The intro? Amazing. The truth bombs about Sliders? Fantastic. Kyle Hill being Kyle Kill? Toasty.
Anna, what are you up to?
Anna: Oh nothing just building an army of cats.
kyle: 👀👀
Kyle Hill is the one person at the party who everyone eye rolls about and who never gets invited again
I’m so surprised more people aren’t hating on him lol. I don’t hate him but he’s so obnoxious sometimes
I'm glad I'm not the only one I do not like him
The Prof’s English degree origin story is exactly what happened to me. Science is cool but it’s also very difficult and lots of numbers and English is pretty chill.
Tierzoo is an unexpected treat, throw in designer kibbler and I'm clicking the video 😂
DESIGNER KIBLER
Yay, I know I’m late to the party, but seeing so many brilliant faces is amazing!
Tier Zoo appearance?? I love it when different parts of my youtube subs crossover like this
Oh wow crazy Kyle won with a fast-mana-less cedh deck with a two card win-con wow so interesting
I love when I get to see the folks from the command zone appear on the channel. Good to see you Josh.
A tutor that got part of a 2-card infinite combo? This is casual commander?
Where did they say it was casual? Prof has three OG Duals in his deck.
@@thetimebinderYou can have very expensive lands and still be a casual deck just like how a competitive deck can win with $15 cards (Thoracle Consultation). Casual vs Competitive has nothing to do with the cost of a deck.
@@Is_It_Chris casual decks can run infinite combos. Infinite combos don't make a deck cedh.
I loved the start of this episode 😂 idk if your making a parody of Game Knights but that’s what I assume that was super funny
As a Jinnie Fey Deck Enjoyer I relate to Anna Margaret so much.
Hey Prof, where did your evil twin the Tolarian Instructor go? We'd all love to see their vile ass again. As always love the content and glad to have you as a leader of our community. Keep up the awesome work!
When people want to win the game with combos like that I pray for someone to have the Rakdos charm
i just pray that somebody rips that shit show of a card.
Hooray I knew many many months ago it was only a matter of time till Anna is on a commander episode.
Yes
Loved it :D it deserves a re-do, maybe something more thematic to the peoples or, even better, something totally on the opposite
wow the tutor deck found an infinite combo!!!! you are so good at magic
There was ONE piece of targeted removal played the entire game and it was from Kyle. MAYBE people should run more interaction.
@@damonlouis6536 Kyle deliberately didn't get a combo peice with Rocco. His only use of Rocco was to get a Ranger Captain.
That opening alone deserves applaud and award, that was brilliant.
kyle hill is so unimaginably insufferable
AAAAAAA-MEN to that!
Professor, i am still watching the intro, but i am so happy that i think this will be your best video ever!! Thank you for this, made up my day 😊
