    I would recommend attaching the negative cable to the frame instead of the negative part of the battery. I hooked mine up to the battery and after a second it gave me the “bad battery/clamps reversed” and the battery started to make a sizzling noise. Hooked it up to the frame and had no problems. Many other videos I found suggested hooking it up to frame as well.

    I have the same charger. I was charging my totally dead battery in my truck. I left it on a trickle charge and went to work. When I came back the battery was still dead. What had happened was the truck has a sensor that turns off the lights automatically. This sensor bought the farm and that charger kept charging all that time. (while the headlights were still not going off) I looked at the charger and it was on but not charging. I didn't know about the bad light sensor at the time. I have a better charger coming today. Live and learn is all I can say.

    Why would you have one for maintaining if it's supposed to do both? Maintain and charge

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Год назад

      Hi rosco83! It's cheaper to have one that can do both (maintainer and charger) however there are some advantages to also owning a stand alone maintainer: They are cheaper than a charger maintainer, they support a quick disconnect where the charger needs the full size alligator clips, they typically do not generate noise since there is no fan & they consume less energy which means they can be left on 24/7 for cars that need to have their battery monitored (my cars sit for months at a time without being used) Here is the maintainer so you can see the differences ruclips.net/video/C1LapUB7bXo/видео.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

      Hi Stephan! correct, assuming the leads are not reversed, according to the manual if the red light stays on, there may be an issue with the battery. Hi Bill! interesting, I haven't tested the Napa but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a rebrand, which is common with NAPA rebranding certain products under their on label (typically really good brands too) which is the reason I prefer NAPA over Autozone or Pepboys parts, just way better quality...

    even at 10amps it can take a long time depending how big the battery is and how much discharged i have left them on 2 days 😂 , sometime it shows green and is maintaining and all of a sudden fails and battery only charged to 11v so battery no good, also needs more lights to let u know why it has failed, instrucctiins are no good on why is has failed.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  2 года назад

      Hi SlackerIndustry! Yeah it definitely depends on battery size and health. At 10A, a battery with 300 CCA will charge in about 3 hrs where a battery with 1000 CCA will take aprox 7hrs. Now this assumes the battery was at about 50% discharged level, the larger the battery and the lower the state charge the longer it takes. I'm also testing a few advanced battery diagnose tools, stay tuned for those videos and thanks for watching bud!
