Thanks to everyone who requested this one. I've had a lot of questions regarding which battery tested I used. It's a Foxwell BT-705, which I purchased. Here's the link. Thanks again, Todd amzn.to/34lBPVF
Have you thought of testing flexible solar panels.
Hi, would you test the ability of car battery to withstand short trips and deep discharging? If you can also add Varta and Bosch to the test.
Thanks
Bought a everstart Walmart batt 1.5 yrs ago because the last one lasted an incredible 7.5 yrs! However, after recieving 3 duds in a row, being disabled, i went to Autozone & got a good one this time.
How about a review of the effectiveness of car battery chargers that have a "repair mode" to help repair abused damaged batteries?

Thank you!
Agree 100% - when I can’t sleep at night I’m watching Project Farm - lol lol !!! I’ve also had requests to see the videos in my shop’s engine rebuild room
I agree that it's a good source for info. On the subject of batteries, though, the issue most important to me is how long they last. A few decades ago (yes, I'm that old) I didn't have to worry so much about coming back from a 2 week vacation to a dead battery. The last three vacations, I did. Why? It seems we now have to have a compact Li-ion or supercap jump starter. In addition, it seems the 3 year warranty is extremely precise, with batteries turning to crap right on the day, or thereabouts.
@@ProjectFarm thank you Project Farm!!!

One of your best videos. I replaced my wife's battery with an Everstart recently and it was just reassuring to know that my man PF, gave it the thumbs up.
Thanks!
I just bought the same battery for my wife’s car. Also, I’ve had an Everestart in my tractor for 8+(possibly 10, just can’t remember what year I bought it) years and it still fires up every time.
@@WoodLineWorkersometimes you'll find a date sticker and someplace will scribe the date in the plastic
Man, I remember when a premium 3 year replacement battery was about $50-60 depending on the size. It's insane that now most premium batteries are wayyy over $100 and a good portion of them from AutoZone/Advance Auto Parts are over $200. That's not including the AGM batteries. They are $300 or more now...
Auto zone batteries and the rest are Hype. Even Interstate you Gotta watch who your buying it from. With the current administration taking a hatchet to the USA, I found great reliability for the Walmart Ever start battery and just replace it with a free one every 6-8 months because that's about how long they last. If they burn a cell, they replace free for 1 yr of purchase .Cars are junk too these newer ones. CVT transmission's, etc... Just buy a 2016 Toyota and stay away from kia and their inferior metal they use on their crankshaft. If you see green on the posts, you can sand them down and seal them with metal bond or Jb weld at the post seal where the connect and the gasses don't release and the batteries will last forever.
If you notice, the everstart has a 5yr warranty. The current pics on Walmart show them with a 3yr warranty! Granted those are pics, not the actual product. But I'm assuming they're up to date since the warranty period dropped... Just like everything else rising/decreasing to the benefit of companies.
@@meme5887The 3 year warranty is the free replacement period. No battery, with the exception of the platinum AGM batteries, has a free replacement period longer than 3 years. Depending on what quality level EverStart battery you are buying that 5 year warranty was for anywhere from 4 to 2 years of pro-rated warranty. Not a free replacement period.
Bidenomics
stay away from auto zone batteries.

Appreciate that! Thanks!
He's my favorite. The manager of Advanced Auto in my town is now a viewer after today. They sell the Die Hards.
Sorry PF, the real battery testing is a real world atmosphere. Interstate batteries are very good in real world conditions. Walmart batteries are not worth it. Napa gold went bad for me in 2 years. You need to remember that dust on the batteries will drain it. Keep your batteries clean. I actually put 1” styrofoam underneath my 4 AGM batteries in my Peterbilt and now up to 4 years on them. Plus they power my refrigerator. Vibration can be a killer on batteries and the heat is harder on them than the cold for longevity. I run Duracell on my wheel horse rider and my Allis Chalmers CA tractor with very good results so far.
Once again, an awesome evaluation video from the Project Farm! 🤩... It will be awesome if you can test a barrage of the popular portable solar panels, too (like those from Harbor Freight, etc.)! 😃😍
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
Very well thought out testing procedures, explanations and final graphical break down.
I spent some of my years working in a materials testing lab. Our focus was ASTM standards for testing of materials. Materials for construction which included everything...EVERY MATERIAL down to its component level, even to the chemistry from which it was composed.
ASTM testing protocols are a crazy maze of interdependant prerequisites. Many times mind boggling.
So, I think you did a very fair, if not excellent job of simulating an ASTM test protocol.

@@ProjectFarmyour the last Mohican !
I was stranded out of town during a family emergency when I bought an Everstart at Walmart, expecting it to last until I could get a better battery. 6 years later it is still going strong.
Time to load test your battery,( this is cheap & will tell you if its time to replace it).. I used to be in the repair business & it's a false savings after a battery with low voltage shortens or even destroys your alternator or starter . It's much the same as putting an electric lawn mower at the end of a long skinny underrated extension cord .The motor struggles under low voltage & gets too hot..Ditto with the car starter, & the alternator will charge all the time trying to bring the voltage up to where sensitive computer controls can function properly.
My Everstart lasted 7yrs, It wasn't completely dead but I could tell it was getting weak. Obviously bought another one. The cheapest too no brainer.
Stranded? Oh wait... Automatic...
Impressive!
Walmart's batteries are made by Johnson Controls. They're good. Exide and JC are the biggest manufacturers and they pretty much make up the entire market for lead-acid.

did you ever kill the battery?
I had an everstart last 3 days on me and the replacement lasted about a month. It actually saddens me to find out half the batteries on here are all made in the same factory. I had a die hard gold last 15 years never went dead for those 10 years until one cold winter.
My energizer lasted for 10yrs. 07/07 till 12/17 Toyota matrix. Best battery I have ever had.
just FYI you can make them last well beyond that by doing desulfation process. look it up. desulfate every 2 years too for maintenance. "sweet project cars battery rejuvenation method" you cant condition/desulfate AGMs tho so they're inferior to me.
Best battery I ever had was a VW (Autobhan) battery in my 03 Golf, the battery, lasted 9 years. Coldest start in that 9 years was -42F (Canada) Never had a battery since that lasted as long. most i get now is 4 to 5 years.

@John Grzeskowiak the dont have the best pricing all the time. In Canada CanadianTire beats them a lot.
@@cmdrdarwin3682 , my reasons are two fold.
1. Walmart Corp. has consistantly partnered with manufacturers and distributors to have lower quality (thus cheaper) products that resemble the manufacturers higher quality offerings. For example, a $1,000 Sony TV anywhere else has 4 HDMI, Dolby Atmos, 4K, etc. At Walmart they will have the same TV body, but slightly different internals. Maybe only 2 HDMI, no Dolby, 4K upscaling instead of native, etc. and they sell it for $699. You think you are saving money because it is marketed like the $1000 set, but in fact is a completely different TV.
2. The way they have treated their workers is appalling. Not just working to keep unions out (pretty common thing for employers to do), but to go into small towns, drive away the small businesses, and then hire the now unemployed townspeople at minimum wage or just above and severely limit any growth. They are basically a parasite on small towns.
People can stop giving me crap for Walmart batteries now.
I guess I should quit calling them neverstart lol
Walmart really gotten better on last couple year on all fronts. I needed a UCB stick in hurry once at they nearly as much basics and same price as Amazon/bestbuy. They've even starting selling premium racing bicycles on-line (I think it's a pet project of one grandsons or something like that) that are good as premium offerings from Trek or Specialized and half the price (if you google Viathon)
He should have naught the yellow ever start
@@runningwithshemp I just replaced the Walmart battery in Hyundai elantra in south florida after 7yrs not dead but wearing out.... did all sorts of research before and was looking at something else before looking at the battery that was there already... which I did buy to replace the factory one that died after 3yrs.
I've been getting costco batteries for my pathfinder, town car, lesabre and others.... last ones I've needed I bought at Costco for town car and dies less than a year - got "free" replacement - had to pay for the now more expensive difference.... died in just over a year got another one free w/ complaint died in less than a year..... they were grumpy about it each time and basically told me to eff off. before that in the 25 I think years I've bought batteries at Costco I had ONE die in the warranty - which used to be decent - period.
to be UNFAIR - my local Costcos management SUCKS! Their idea of "if you are ever unsatisfied" means they expect 30-90days maximum to decide if you are satisfied - told that specifically by managers and I did not abuse the returns... I only return or complain if something is really, really bad.
I’ve had several Walmart batteries leak & cause corrosion damage.
As usual, thanks for all the hard work! Much appreciated.
You are welcome!
After realizing how much this video cost I sat through all the advertisements. Great content, love your unbiased approach to everything.
Well, he might have bought some of these for his own personal use and might have returned some for a refund. That would be the smart way to go.
I got 2 very long scam advertisements, one trying to sell a book to revive any kind of dead battery and another for an overpriced bluetooth obd2 reader. Found your comment and wrote this on my phone before they were over
@@furd8883 It's a tax expense. It would also be pretty crappy to return batteries that have been put through a test like this.
@@MGXsport I don't think so. I don't think he abused these batteries at all. A new customer of these batteries would do just great. All the same, it wouldn't feel right, but I think the batteries would be fine. He never started engines with them. Now that would be harsh. Also, deep drains damage batteries. He never did that.
Did you know that there is a small break in for batteries before they fully perform? If he stressed them more they'd show up with even MORE cold cranking amps on their tests. At least that's how my preferred battery brands behave. I don't know who makes batteries for GM for example, but after pushing them on a car with more issues than just the bad battery they have had, I've seen them turn out with an extra 200 cold cranking AMPS after 2 weeks of use from a customer.
I sat through zero ads, thanks to my RUclips premium subscription. SO worth it, and you can listen with the screen off, AND get Google music INCLUDED!
I personally want to say thank you for everything your doing and not selling out like everybody else. You keep it real and actually have very scientific ways of hard testing items that us hard working americans use on a daily basis but dont necessarily have the means to get the name brand on everything. So I'm sure I say this for everybody when I say thank you for being true and genuine.
Thanks so much!
Sum channels that are small need the sponsorship to help complete their projects.
I guess you just got through investigating one of those Scotty Kilmer videos, lol
@@yell0wberry maybe lol
Very good again! Lately I've been having good luck with AAA batteries, the convenience of them coming out to help you at a bad time, test your system is priceless
Thanks!
I enjoyed this comparison vid. I used to sell batteries for Walmart in the early 90's. At that time they were made by B&G Technologies. I received more in returns than I sold, and I told everyone this so they would avoid purchasing a battery from Walmart. Nice to see Walmart corrected the problem.
Thanks! Thanks for the feedback.
Dude I just want to say how much I appreciate your channel! Am all about the reviews of things and you save me a ton of time. You have my trust!
I appreciate that!
I bought my Everstart 3 weeks ago before this video. I’m glad that I made a wise decision
Ive had mixed reviews with neverstart batteries
Used only EverStart for the past 20+ years, only 1 issue ever, and they replaced it for me no questions asked. Other than that, never another issue.
Thank you for the feedback
Been running ever starts in Canada for over 3 years, haven't had a problem even in sub -30 celsius temperatures on diesels and v8s
My first EverStart Maxx lasted 8 years in NorCal. The second is still going strong at 5 years in Kansas.
I purchased two Everstart batteries for my diesel truck in December of ‘19 right after watching this video. A little over three years on I’ve noticed a little bit of a drop in the cold cranking amps. With my injectors in need of rebuilding/replacing over the past two years she’s been needing a good bit of extra cranking in the cold especially this winter. I’ve been hard on the batteries and have been impressed so far with these Everstart batteries. I’ve only had to boost the truck a handful of times when temps have fallen into the single digits and I’ve forgotten to plug her in. Truck is a ‘97 5.9 Cummins.
Thanks for sharing.
We have a 97 Cummins with only 100k miles on it. Silver and white. Only use it to pull the 5th wheel. Beast of a truck with the southbend dual disc clutch
i love your channel and your Real World test/comparison of products!
Thanks!
Me: “OK, that's enough RUclips for today.”
Project Farm: “nope!”
I love it! I had a really good laugh! Hope you have a great week
This man is a hero without a cape me and my dad love watching these and this video was very useful as we needed new batteries
Thank you for the positive feedback
Would love to see an updated test of the major brands again.
Thanks for the suggestion.

@ProjectFarm can we also get a deep cycle battery test?
I love the videos BTW.
I work at an O'Reilly's, interesting to know that our main competition in the area, Napa, has their batteries made by the same folks. Since working there I have learned that batteries are one of the most marked up things in the entire store. With my discount, I can get a $200 battery for just over $100, so it's pretty close to a 100% markup, probably even more since I know the company still makes money when I purchase something with my discount
Thanks for the feedback.
I love this channel. Whenever I get ready to make a purchase of something that matters I looks at this channel for a comparison.
Thank you!!
That's exactly what they want you to do he gets paid for selling a product lol
@@billspencerjr8636 well there's no affiliate links and I doubt a company would sponsor a video their product comes in last and sponsorship has to be disclosed. If he makes anything outside of RUclips, patrons and merch I can't imagine how.
my dads battery shit the bed and i told him what he needed and he said "what, you've been working in an autobody shop for 2 weeks and now you know everything?" and i responded with "no my best friend project farm has taught me a lot"
thank you personally for making me seem smart i love you with all my heart
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
Another great video from one of the best channels on RUclips. Thanks again, Sir
Thanks and you are welcome!
We use a lot of those optima redtops in the Army National Guard a lot of our equipment goes unused for long periods of time and Ive noticed the equipment with redtops usually performs well
Thanks for the feedback.
This morning the wífe called me just after she left for work, told me she thinks her car battery seems like it's getting weak. So the first thing I thought of was watching this video months and months ago. Came right back to view it probably for the 3rs time now. Man thank you so much for the content you put out. It is truly priceless in so many ways.
You are welcome!
which battery did you buy and why ?
@@virtuosowins I did go with the Walmart Everstart for the first time. I usually would try to source an Interstate but I did the Walmart this time for 2 reasons. 1. For the price and results of this videos test and the fact that everyone has a Walmart in there back yard. 2. Because the batteries I feel get sold often at Walmart I think they get a continuous fresh supply. Batteries that sit and don't sell will age and you won't get the full life span of cells inside.
@@Washman-jw3hl Sound rationale and decision making, way to go - Happy for you. As for me, I have no one do these tests in India for the car batteries we have here but in general we drive less per day so I think my own battery will last for a while.
You can revive the old battery with Epsom salt. Many Y. tube videos on the subject.
Used to work at Johnson Controls and tho the outside form is the same, internally there are important differences.
Typically the less expensive batteries have thinner plates and not much room at the bottom to capture material that sloughs off the plates over time. If this plate material builds up enough it will cause a short between the plates and the battery is dead.
Also, the brand has control over the design of the plates. The least expensive may have lead pickups shaped like a comb, where the better batteries gather electrons with a fractal design and are more able to handle heavier loads as well as charge more quickly. Because of the identical case, sometimes a lower cost label gets put on a better battery. And vice versa.
Thanks for sharing.
Ya that makes sense man, I figured there had to be more than just different labels to justify the extra cost. Thanks
my experience that while inexpensive and somehow winning this "test", Everstart batteries are some of the worst. Very rarely make their three year warranty. I've literally had a customer who bought one on a Wednesday evening, and Thursday afternoon it was dead
Is the Everstart Deep Cycle and the Everstart Maxx Deep Cycle the same battery. It seems they might be now. Just the Maxx is $13 more with a 2 year warranty
My 2008 Subaru Outback likes to kill off it's battery around every 4 years. The stock battery lasted 4 years. Replaced with a Les Schwab made by Johnson Controls that lasted 46 months and died. The it was replaced with a Walmart Everstart Johnson Controls battery that lasted 45 months and flat out died. Now there's a Johnson Controls made Interstate in it and fingers are crossed. Will it make it past 48 months?
