  • We continue to expand our Apple Homekit Security System with the Eufycam 2 setup. You can find the Eufycam 2 for purchase here: amzn.to/3scWELA.
    Follow along as we explore the setup and addition of the Eufycam 2 cameras to our Apple HomeKit setup. These Apple HomeKit devices are great for quick and easy installation and provide a great live stream of what is going on outside of our smart home. Even without HomeKit Secure Video, the Eufycam 2 is great because it doesn't send data to a cloud, it stores it on the Homebase 2 on your local network. I was a little sad we couldn't get the Logitech Circle 2 to work, but these Eufycam 2's have been a great replacement for HomeKit setup.
    This video was shot with:
    iPhone 11 Pro: amzn.to/3bWK6Qy
    Rode Video Go Mic: amzn.to/2XdwNqC
    Tripod and phone holder: amzn.to/2X9Ayx9

    1. If it wasn't obvious from the video, all the video is stored on the Homebase 2 locally, nothing goes to the cloud.
    2. If you grab this camera system, help support our channel by using this link: @t

    *I have had the **Newest.Technology** system since they were initially released (over 2 years). I love the ease of use and they work well. Batteries last a long time too. I have added cameras as needed. I love the 2 way communication with this one.*

    Thank you!! I could not for the life of me figure out why I couldn’t add it to HomeKit. After watching this video I got it immediately.

    Hi, how long does the power last if HomeKit secure video is set aggressively ? Like detect any motion + light

    thanks for the video. Any idea if I can install the cameras remotely eg. my wifes phone that she is physically on the property at the moment, and then she gives also access to mine?

    Does it show a dedicated button in the Control Center where Homekit accessories show? Mine doesn’t. Any thoughts sir?

    Thanks for excellent video.
    Do you have experience with a magnetic mount. Magnet is very strong, however the holder with a ball for camera is really very badly designed. How to fix the holder firmly to the wall? Have you any advice?

    • @OurAppleHome
      @OurAppleHome  3 года назад

      I show the magnetic mount in the video. It works great. It has two parts, one part gets mounted to the wall with a screw and then you put on and down with the magnetic part to secure it to the screwed on part. I personally use and love that option.

      @@OurAppleHome Thank you for your reply.
      I checked your video several times, especially the mounting part. I do mounting in the same way, but I still find sliding the ball holder on the hook very unstable. Sliding length is only 1 mm, so 120$ camera fixing is very unsteady. It is really very risky. Moreover, there is no need to release the holder from the wall, because the camera can be easily realesed from the hook to charge it.
      Finally I found a solution. I drilled a small hole in the center of the ball to enable a small screwdriver to tight the holder firmly to the wall (directly without a plastic hook).
      The holder is fixed very firmly to the wall without any negative impact to magnetic function. 🧲
      Thank you again for your reply.

      Hacking is a broad term. Best practices around account passwords and wifi network security are recommended.

      Great question, SuperCardio! Eufy uses end-to-end encryption and stores video data locally.
      For years I’ve been turned off by the high introductory price and questionable data integrity of these types of camera systems. Eufy finally solved those concerns for this consumer.
      Although the setup is complicated and the functionality has a ways to go (but can easily be resolved in future updates).
      Good luck with your home security search!

    Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience. Other than viewing live video via HomeKit, what are you doing with the HomeKit integration? Can you arm the cameras as part of an automation script?

    • @OurAppleHome
      @OurAppleHome  4 года назад +2

      We recently added a front Wemo WiFi switch and I hooked up the motion sensor from the camera to turn the front yard switch off and on at night based on motion. Very handy for automation.

      Thanks for the insight. I was always thinking in the other direction: arm the cameras outside, when I lock the door. Arm the cameras inside when I am leaving home. Disarm the cameras when I come home. And so on....

    Just wondering about the signal strength range between the hub and each camera. I know a lot of different factors can go into this question, but some past reviews I found when trying to research the Eufycam 2 stated around 50 ft. between the hub and each camera was all they could get before a signal strength loss prevented the camera from communication with the hub. I am looking at purchasing 4 cameras for my home, but haven’t found any solid examples of what we can expect for a brick home that is about 1600 sq. Feet. Do you or anyone else have better information as to the range of these newer cameras and hub ?

    • @jgirizarry
      @jgirizarry 4 года назад +1

      Darren LeBeau , my house is 2850 and I have 3 cams and they work fine, but where I have my home-base, the signal travels with no obstruction. The distance between my homebase and farther cam is between 40 and 50 feet. I had it on the second floor and had to put on my first floor, because even though it was closer to my farther cam, it was very slow to stream, so wall obstruction is important to consider. The homebase can be setup wireless as well, although I don’t think is the best option. I hope this helps.

      We have a 2800 sq ft brick quad level and I had put the home base in the back corner of the house and the camera was in the front center of the house, so maybe 50-60 feet through various walls and it worked great. I did try and move the homebase upstairs with fewer walls between it and the cameras, but it didn’t boost the signal much. I’m very happy with it so far.

      I have a 2800 sf home and I get full signal strength for all of my cameras. I previously had Amcrest cameras, which had poor Wi-Fi reception outdoors. I'm very pleased with the reception for my outdoor Eufy camera.

    What is that security system homekit device at 6:38? Is that the homebase 2 in homekit? My base only shows as a bridge, not a security alarm in homekit.

      I think you need a HomeKit hub if you want to do HomeKit secure video, but the base system has video storage and you could just use the Eufy app if you wanted. Just depends on the level of HomeKit integration you want.

      Turns out the Eufy app has a setting you can turn on that will trigger a very loud alarm if the camera is moved at all. It also sets off an alarm on the homebase too. I turned that feature on and that gives me some peace of mind.

      The Eufy 2 cameras come with two mounting options: the magnet mount and the screw in mount. The screw in mount is preferred for outdoors as it makes it a little more difficult to remove the camera. The alarm feature is also a great option to have enabled.
