- Today, we will check out the EufyCam 2, a 365 battery life wireless WiFi security camera from Eufy. Thank you Eufy for sending me this system for review. We will do the unboxing, check out its features, set it up and check the settings in the app. We will then do the install so that we can check out the video and audio quality and run battery of tests and see if this WiFi camera system is a good fit for your needs.
I have reviewed the other wireless camera from Eufy like the Eufy Cam E and the Eufy Cam 2 C.

oooo, great video. Now you've saved me money. I was deciding whether to buy it but when I saw this video how the camera has a bad image at a certain distance both in the evening and in the morning. So I have to look for other cameras
Thanks for the EufyCam review. Recently picked up the Eufycam2 2 camera set up along with the Eufy Video Doorbell. Having formerly used the Arlo Pro and Blink XT2 and I use Apple Home Kit and Alexa in our smart home I like that Eufy has "some" of its devices HomeKit enabled. Support told be that they don't have anything firm timeline on the Eufy video doorbell becoming HomeKit enabled, that has been my only frustration with the Eufy ecosystem so far, just a bit fragmented.
I know. There floodlight, doorbell and eufy cams doesn't really integrate in the modes section which they should... I know Eufy is working on making their camera line and sensors more cohesive.

Your review sealed the deal and I just installed my EufyCam 2. The settings you go through are very useful. I couldn't find any other source to go over each setting. No mention of a guide was available from either the directions or the Eufy site. The online guide I found was a duplicate of the paper Quick start guide included in the box.

I also bought it too. However it may be going back as I've seen on best buy website there is a 2k version available for purchase and already review rated. It's called Eufycam 2 Pro. Strangely, eufy's website does not have it listed.

I bought these camera's Eufy Cam 2 after seeing this review. Advise to anyone thinking about them choose very carefully. If you want a security alarm with a cam this maybe good but if you want to protect your property think again maybe reolink. I bought these as i had a problem with a neighbour the camera missed so much that i now have to go out and buy a POE 24/7 system. Update. After 1 month the batteries are dead. These are not worth it.
They need to release a solar accessory to solve the battery drain
Mine after 2 months battery shows 19%. Disappointing.

having used it for one week, Ill list some pros and cons, Pro's easy to set up, very good picture clarity, Cons, Because there is no zoom , Identifying people beyond 15 feet becomes hard. Cannot connect it to your PC without a subscription. There is a 10-15 second lag from notifications, SO if you look out your window the person is long gone. Otherwise its decent camera.
Good review thanks for sharing something worth mentioning, device theft is not covered under the manufacture warranty.
This might be the deciding factor for me between this and the Arlo competitor

Thank you very much you are the only one does the test with distances & the most important is the night camera with very good testing keep the good work you save me time to buy them & test them to find out if okay as they claims or not but did it again those companies should pay you on the good work you cut down for them to do better security camera because I bought at less five of them then I test them to find out they are pieces of garbage

Thank you for a great review. I find that by way of functionality this camera system does have very high ambitious aspirations. But it has some inherent flaws. First being it's ability to detect motion quickly. It appears the camera is in hibernation to save battery thus when the motion detector picks up movement it needs to "wake up the camera" which means crucial seconds can be lost. Sometimes the motion detection simply fails. Night vision is not so great. Daytime video quality is very good. I also found that in human only detection mode it picked up my large truck and a four legged feline as humans. If it's sensors worked effectively and perfectly then this camera could be the best in the market. The different settings are scattered across the app thus making it a bit cumbersome to use.

A couple of questions: Does the base module have a battery backup? What would happen if for instance the base is shut down for a given period of time?
What if the power is up but the internet connection is down? (local area network still up)

Great review of the setup and functions, but no ref. as to the range of the wifi to camera; I realize there are numerous factors, but 10M? 30M? Any distance/condition reference would help. Several Amazon reviews had complaints about limited range. Thank you Sir! And stay healthy.
Thanks for the info very helpful. Maybe I missed the range from the base to a camera. I would like to place an outdoor camera about 70 feet away from the base station and also it would be behind a fence. Any thoughts on the possibility of the camera functioning properly?
2nd question, will Eufy create and build an wifi extender in case the range is limited?

Looks good to me. I think it has less compression issues that showed up in the 2C camera. Look forward to seeing the side by side with the Cam E as I think this one will edge it out.
We will see. I still like the Eufy Cam E's video quality...
@LifeHackster the cam2 and 2c supports HomeKit now. The Homebase needs to be updated to system version 2.0.6.6h I have photos if you like. I currently have 2 bases 4 cam2’s 2 2c’s and one floodlight. The flood light still isn’t HomeKit capable. Thank you for your awesome reviews.

LifeHackster you have to notify them and they will ask for your bases serial numbers then force the update.

Since yesterday owner of the Eufycam2 with HomeKit, nothing to complain about the quality with the price.
Why would you like to have 4K? It’s going about detection right not about having videos in 4K quality. As Full HD is enough for me I’m happy with it. Nothing to the cloud, just locally internally in the Hub.
Only thing to figure out is to see if it is possible if we can record the last 10 minutes, I know Arlo has the function to record 24/7, missing this option only.
Works great with HomeKit!

I like all you Eufy videos and I'm trying to decide if the Eufy camera 2(or Pro) would meet my needs. It's between this camera and the Eufy 2c. You did not show the Eufy 2 camera video without any of your flood lights on.

When I unplug the base from power and move it closer to the cameras, will it reconnect to wifi when I plug it back in?
Hello, thanks for the great video. Can you please advise what is the max possible distance between the hub and the cameras? I am a bit worried about this as the hub has to be installed inside the house and the cameras outside about 10 meters away with walls in between. Thanks
I have used this camera for over 6 months, the one thing which botters me a lot is that the recording starts too late. The PIR should wake up the camera and start recording immediately, but in reality it sometimes take 4 to 6 seconds to wake up the camera and for a recording to start. For example it takes 8 seconds to walk from the beginning of my property to my front door, and often the recorded footage starts when the person is almost on my doorstep (the last 2 or 3 seconds). To the contrary, it DOES record footage of cars and persons walking way further in front of my house. It's just not very reliable in that sense.
But it beats anything else because you don't need a subscription and the local storage is not in the camera itself but in the homebase (very smart)

Try to position the camera so that the movement you are trying to monitor will go across the camera or the PIR sensor. Avoid placing it where the movement is going towards or away from the camera.
LifeHackster great suggestion but when testing the Eufycam 2 in motion detection mode, it lit up red much more consistently when approaching the camera as to going across it. This may be something worth testing when doing your EufyCam comparison. I wonder if it’s specific to this brand?

Thanks for the great vids! really thinking about leaving ring for eufy, or Arlo for HomeKit integration.... I already have 5 ring cams all wired like I prefer... do you think its worth leaving ring even without the thought of HomeKit? yes I currently have homebridge setup its... ok
I have the eufy battery doorbell camera love it.
Quick question.. on the HOMEBASE 2 USB port is it only meant to charge the doorbell camera/camera? Or is it meant also to be able to adapt external drive?.

Hi, could you please review if the camera can function while charging or does it go offline? And can we just keep the charging cable plugged in and forgot about changing batteries or not worry about placing the camera in high activity zones like front door.

How is the range from the Home Base? I’m thinking of placing the Home Base in the room over the garage and the first camera over the garage door. If I place the second camera on the other side of the house at the back of the house, will the signal drop from the back camera? Can I use a WiFi extender to secure the signal with the second camera? I read a review which says that the WiFi extender would not work because the cameras are linked directly to the Home Base, not to the WiFi. Is that true?

Eufy needs to come out with a 2k/4k quality and better compression. But for now, I'm happy with the 2c.

@@michaeln.8401 they are, I have the 2c, but there's 2k/4k competitors out there. Granted, Eufy is cheaper and I love the no monthly fee. I hope they will come out higher resolution with respectable fee.
True but they need to stay away from Arlo pricing when they come out with a 4k. It’s just way expensive
4K requires a lot more storage, a lot faster connections and better quality cameras. It's very doable, but it will cost a lot more $$ including better wifi infrastructure in your home.
Do these have like a spot light ? That way light turns on at night when someone approaches close to the camera
@LifeHackster this is off subject, but what battery and solar panel would you suggest for a permanent install option or can you maybe do a full video at some point soon on this particular subject.

Hi, how do you add multiple devices to HoneBase 2 please. I had the battery doorbell 2k installed and when adding the Pro 2/2k the doorbell disappeared 😒 and all the saved history.SOS help 💙
