The Crackle came out absolutely fantastic. So beautiful watching the crackle come to life! Thanks, best paint video ever on a guitar that just seems so down to earth and brilliant.
That's awesome man. Love the design you chose. The neon green was perfect. I just painted my jackson in neon yellow because your solar is sick and since seeing it I've always wanted that color shredder.
Oh, wow! Look at those crackles appearing like magic. This is great! I'm happy that you've decided to go the extra mile to do the frets of the original neck. Bet you won't regret it in the end. Well, done! :D
Im a year late to this video but holy shit this is such a killer finish to put on a guitar. I've been dying to do a red crackle finish on my Alexi 600 along with a hardware and electronics replacement. One day...lol. This is so badass.
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR I got mine second hand for maybe 600 bucks plus shipping, had some minor damage to the body along with some subtle cracks and paint chips. Very lucky to have this guitar, its never leaving me lol.
I also tried crackle but it didn't turn out how I hoped. It was a glarry strat. Red with black crackle. Your pattern came out perfect. And I mean like perfect.
@@DrMurdercock haha thats a new one. Im good friends with there drummer matty B were from the same home town and when he was home from tour he would cone hangout or work at the venue i worked at hhaha
I would like to paint my RR too. And sunburst now if you want a black crackel effect on a fluorescent green base you advise me to strip: apply primer, green and black crack. Or can I paint green directly over the sunburst??
For best results to make the fluresent green pop you would want to do it over a white prime if you do it over a dark color or primer it will change to shade of the flo green . U dont have to remove the original paint just sand it with anywheres from 400/600 grit sand paper befoee applying primer
@@tjcoon4360 thx… i’ve done a blue and white crackle Guitar, and then tried to do a glow-in-the-dark crackle guitar but paint wasn’t compatible… so looking for the right color to work on a new project
This is the best crackle finish I've been able to find using spray cans. I really wanted to replicate this, fairly sure this is accurate: 1. Black: Rust-Oleum Flat Protetive Enamel Black (likely 7776830) 2. Neon Green: VHT Engine Enamel Grabber Green SP154 3. Crackle: Montana Crackle (probably the amazon one EC9017) I will try Gold+Black crackle and report back.
Some other notes I made for myself: - This guitar was sprayed indoors in a t-shirt, so the temperuature was probably mild (ideal) - By only crackling the front, you’re less rushed and can focus on even coverage in different directions, getting a nice thick layer on before it starts chemically reacting - Interestingly you lay a very thick base coat, then let it dry 2 hours. Can recommends 45 minutes - I’ve seen other videos where heat guns or fans are used to speed up and increase cracking, I’ve also noticed sunlight seems to increase it, but that may be random or due to heat
It wasn’t to bad, seems like the lighter u put it on the smaller / finer the crackle comes out i put a heavy coat of green on let it dry for almost 2 hours and a heavy coat of crackle and thats how it came out.
From the diff timed test pieces ive done that was the best result for the look i was going for the can says 45 mins to an hour i think but i also went heavy on base coat and crackle coat to get bigger cracks
The crackle pattern is so perfect and clean, looks amazing

This is amazing. How many cans of the Montana crackle do you need (assuming a heavy coat like yours) for one guitar body?
Id get 2 just in case i literally did the whol front and headstock with a half of can

How did the lines come out so perfect that's odd for crackle paint usually it looks like chain mail or sea moss with sprayed on?
