The visual effect is the biggest reason i love guitars with 1pu 1pot
I love the fill job on that neck pickup! Could you eventually show how to add veneer to a guitar?
I second that request!!!!
i love this channel its so entertaining and its pushing me to customize all my guitars
I have a kramer baretta vintage and it only has one pickup. One of my favorite guitars to play
One pickup one volume guy here. Awesome job Mark!
Great work on that LTD...thanks for showing your process and talking us through it.
That is a sick paint job Mark.🤘🎸🤘👍
wow mark my man that’s one super sick LTD i think you’ve successfully made their custom shop jealous
Really cool
The colors work excellent together
This is one of the better executions of using the Montana crackle that I’ve seen. That mirror gloss really set it off, great job mark!
1 bridge humbucker with 1 volume is my fav setup!!
I am convinced that one pick and one volume makes the pick up a tiny bit hotter. Less switches and wire and soldier
I’m so glad I came across this channel,I do my own work as well but You caught my eye with the different pint styles you get into.I hope to ship you one someday perhaps make it a video!Thank you for what you do and sharing your work!

I have a 91 Charvel Predator that has a Duncan Invader humbucker and a Jackson single coil w/ a single volume knob and a 3-way. It's my favorite set up.
I just put a push-push single vol pot in m custom guitar, which switches between a very high output bridge and a hotrail in the neck where the coils are connected in parallel (gives you a hot noisless singlecoil sound). I like hotrails in the neck placed very close to the neck so it does not create a visual barrier for my picking, I do not hit neck pickups with my pick, but somehow it is disturbing to me to have a pickup in my picking territory, that is why no middle pickup for me.
Yes Mark, I am a 1 pickup guy. Don’t need a tone, don’t need a neck pick up, just and EMG 81 and my Mesa triple rec!!!
I've seen another method for creating crackle-like textures, using a plastic bag to "dab" the paint while still wet. This would look good on one of your projects.
I only solder the bridge pickup to the selector so there is only the illusion of choice.
edit. Also the guitar looks sick! Great work!
Guitar aside, looks like it's time for a new bandsaw blade. Lol. Those burn marks on the plug are from a blade going dull. It's still sharp enough to cut but dull enough to slow down and cause friction burns. Not trying to be a backseat maker, just want to add an explanation in case anyone was curious :D
I think this is my absolute favorite rebuild you've done, Gold hardware with purple body always kicks ass 🔥
Mark! 💙🎸
I used the Montana crackle just last week and I'm so happy with the effect
Purple and gold always looks good
One of your best rebuilds everrrrr
I absolutely need a neck pickup and always remove the tone knob on my guitars. I bought furniture screw end caps to plug the hole where the knob used to be. I also relocate the vol knob to the tone pot so its out of the way for quick pickup changes!
The intro sounds just like a reality show you’d see on cable.
Awesome paint job!!! Might be the best so far. I just had one come out great and it is my favorite paint job now. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you have to re-do it because the concept did not work out. I like single pickup guitars, but don't own one. I like the sound of the middle position too much. Using a Duncan George Lynch with a Pre-amp / Duncan BMP-1 is one of my favorite setups. Match with a Duncan SDL-1N - Neck pickup. Sounds amazing. You can get pinch harmonics in really good spots when using both together. And the single size neck pickup gives you more real estate on body for the paint job. Rock On Mark!!!
Single hum is slowly coming back and I'm glad.
My Christian Andreu Signature Jackson Rhoads only has the bridge pickup and it’s killer. Only has the volume knob too.
Simple barebones guitar.
That being said, the rest of my guitars have neck pickups too.
I love em all
Wow!! That turned out amazing!
Love the crackle finish on this project. Needs a gold pickup ring tho!
I really appreciate that you put an LTD logo back on it and not ESP.
def alot of work went into this build but its my fave ive seen so far!!
I mod all my guitars with just a bridge pickup and volume for 3 years now!! I love the look and the bare bones functionality
Wow man I think thats my favorite one you did! Good job
I have the ESP black metal ( 1 pickup)
I have a Jackson Rhodes USA custom (1 pickup)
I removed the bridge pickup in my Schecter hellraiser
I rebuilt my Jackson Kelly, filled in the bridge cavity, ( 1 pickup)
And in the process of building a Gibson explorer clone kit, and yes, filled in the bridge cavity for only 1 pickup.
I didn't think I would like it. It is so very 80's glam! I love it!
My new fav channel! So much alike
in my opinion mark you’ve really outdone yourself! that looks like a $2700 customs shop love the 80’s vibe
I rebuild, myself and love it!! So rewarding. You sir.. Do Great Work! Especially your painting skill. BRAVO
Probably the best refinish I've seen. Awesome.
This finish is in best quality
You could have slapped an ESP logo on that and I would absolutely believe it came out of their custom shop.
Concerning having just the bridge pickup and a single volume knob: While I do mostly use a single humbucker in the bridge position, I do sometimes use the neck pickup for either clean tones or if I'm playing on the first three strings past the 12th fret so I don't hurt my ears. As for the Tone knob, I don't really use it unless the pickups in the guitar have the "coil-split" feature, although it'd be nice if that was just a single toggle switch instead. Thank you so much for the content. Guitar's looking KILLER! Keep up the excellent work, sir!
Even though I don't use them much (or at all) I like having a niche pickup and a tone knob, just for the look
That ltd was amazing man !🤘
Simplicity for metal and rock has always been the way I go. I like a humbucker with a coil split that's all I need. And of course a Floyd. Love your channel and that's a great guitar build. Glad the explorer deal worked out for you
ive watched a few of your vids, and this is by far my favorite outcome, that guitar came out totally sick
I love one pickup guitars, super 80s looking
I got two guitars with just a single pickup and a volume knob only. Makes for a more direct, cleaner signal.
Awesome looking guitar dude!
Super sick. Love the live footage, and insight into your thought process.
looks amazing man! keep it up i love the videos
I'm in the single pickup, volume + tone knobs camp myself. Simple yet versatile.
It's a beautiful guitar my brother. GOD bless!!
I don't really want to be bothered with switching between pickups so I keep my bridge pickup selected most of the time. I rarely ever use my neck pickup.
What would be cool is a volume knob with a built in killswitch on the top.
Nice new haircut dude !
I always use the tone knob. Especially on bass or one a Tele.
I own 2 or 3 with just a bridge pup and single volume. I like neck pups too, most of my collection has neck pups. I could live without tone knobs.
Awesome job
Great job!
Baddass guitar! Cant wait to see the explorer
Great result here, good work. I would make only one recommendation: polishing the frets, I polished the frets on my guitar a couple months ago and I used a dremel with felt wheel and some flitz polish. They came out looking like mirrors and will now be the only way I finish off frets that need some life breathed into them. Strings move effortlessly over them.
This is super dope. I think the gold shadow on the headstock decal would've made it really POP. But that's a personal preference. Maybe I'll have to build one of my own lol
a drumell would make that front polish in a hell of a lot easier than going different grits of sandpaper I mean most dremels even come with a polishing compound for aluminum or stainless steel you need to get a drumell is save you so much time and the other things that you can do with it is just a bonus but it'll guarantee making your fret polishing so much simpler it probably pay for itself in the build that you're doing so you can just add that in as part of the cost and get yourself a free tool but even if you have to buy it they're not that expensive anyways love your videos you take care and have a great day
Beautiful guitar Mark! Nicely done 👌
Wow this build is amazing!!! so sick!
Love your channel, man. I find it so relaxing, entertaining and interesting.
Honestly I rarely ever use the neck pickup but it is nice to have it there just in case. As far as the tone knob goes don't need it.
Amazing.
6:55 I have one guitar with two hums and one volume + switch. I find myself missing the tone knob actually, even if it's rarely used. My old Epiphones, a Flying V and an Explorer, are perfect for me. Three-way toggle, two volumes and a master tone. I can roll off the neck pickup volume and basically have a killswitch. Or if I just turn the volume down a little the neck pickup can serve as a clean channel in a pinch if there's not too much gain! The tone knob does see some use for solos or clean rhythms because sometimes you just have to... tone it down!
Wow. Love this guitar. Very well done...cheers.
Friggin nice man
I dont like gold hardware but it sure looks good with that purple, nice job
Single pickup and volume all the way for me. I play metal and hardly ever use a neck pickup. Plus, I prefer the look - hot rodded and simple.
I got a Vietnamese made LTD HSS Floyd Rose … plays beautiful love the neck pick up but I’d like to redo it… what a beautiful guitar my favourite trash to thrash The kill switch looks well killer 👍🤟🤟🤟
Love it bro !!!
Nice job wish you would have used the Floyd Rose just see how it functions and the pickup you chose are awesome
Unholy cow! That guitar looks absolutely outstanding!! Congrats amigo
"No extra bells and whistles" *adds a killswitch and a preamp 😄
That is truly badass! That finish is sick! What is the pre amp you installed?!?! I have a Sterling JP160 with the push/push pre amp and want to install something similar on other guitars I own, but everything I have run across is hardwired to a rotory switch or toggle switch. Keep up the great work man.
This ace Lok like Scelettor!!!!!
WHAT A GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!! nice job dude :)
as for me mark i like having a neck pickup my new guitar 🎸 is a HSS schector nick johnston love having the versatility since i play a couple different styles of metal & rock and sometimes i’m in a blues mood
Love this one! Talking about the single humbucker/single volume, no tone is actually what I prefer. I don’t use a neck pickup much. I prefer hard tail like TOM or string through, just personal preference, not a huge Floyd fan. Great job man!
Dang that was a clean 200 dollar guitar with a case love it if I could find a deal like that
I like multiple pickups for a variety of tones, but I've always found the traditional tone knob to be useless. Recently, I've installed a circuit that boosts/cuts mids in its place and so far its great.
Also two pickups limits the amount of vibration in the strings
killed it.
That blue F series guitar in the background has piqued my interest.
It looks amazing. I want to figure out the crackle finishes.
Tone knobs can be cool - a lot of hollowbodys can go from more twangy blues to chilled out jazz with them, but so many tone knobs have a "great sound and intended purpose" side and a "washed out" side on them. It's a little frustrating because it's a cool idea in concept, but more often than not they just don't get enough use to justify them.
My favorite guitar is a one hum one volume but it couldn't be my only guitar definitely like my neck pu's
Love it
Holy shi* its perfect!!
Man I have a few guitars, lately I've been using just the volume knob, and a have a guitar with no knobs at all, just the Bridge straight to the jack! I still need the tone knob in some guitars, but in general I prefer to have both pickups, just because it looks nice, but I don't use the neck pickup most of the time.
A buddy of mine was doing that too. - the pickup straight to jack - using a volume pedal on his Amp control switches. Said he could maximize the output of the pickup that way.. Sounded True!
Very nice. I don't mind one pickup. It's like what EVH said--you're able to dig into the strings more without that neck pickup in the way & you can get harmonics from that that you can't get from a guitar with a neck pickup. Although, I really like the tone knob; I don't use it all the time, but it's something I like to fidget with more than most homies. Also, anyone know of any crackle paints that aren't black or white?
a few of my guitars are single emg 81
Hey! Very nice job! Just a question for you: how long do you wait after application of 2K Max varnish to send it for the first time? Thank you for your reply
