Want me to paint your guitar or mod it for you? I’d be more than happy to! I do very affordable custom builds as well. Email me mark@guitarguts.com let’s talk about your dream guitar.
That lizard skin finish loos amazing! The crackle paintjob is one of my personal favorites, and this combined with those EMGs looks incredible, awesome job dude!
Trash to Thrash has been such an inspiration to me to start playing again. This episode though hits home though. Been working on a 2002 Korean M-10, full GFS Kwikplug re-wire with new pots and switch, a pair of GFS Power rails pickups, and Tone Ninja locking tuners. I've always loved the M series every since I first started playing, and even being just the M-10 the Korean build quality is fantastic compared to current 10 series LTDs. I'd still love to get my hands on a M-100 though. Hell i'd just be happy to get a hold of my old silver EX-50.
Bad Ass Gator Skin Mark! Always baffles me how we are in tune with our projects. I was just painting a green guitar and using less clear coat to leave a little texture on the finish (and still shiny). Admittedly, yours is definitely more impressive than mine! Awesome work Mark - came out really good! Not too long ago you were fixing a pointy head stock in which the end point had broken off, and I was just in the middle of fixing one of mine with that issue. Love watching your videos for good techniques; always learn something new. Thank you!!!
Love how the finish turned out. It literally looks like reptile skin for sure.
Please keep em coming. 🤘
Love it when a childhood toy inspires a guitar design
I must confess the guitar looks badass! I'm a big fan of crackle paint jobs. I'd love to have a LTD Viper with a purple and black crackle paint job. I proudly own a 2000 Epiphone Les Paul Nuclear Extreme, which has a blue and yellow crackle paint job from the factory. Over the 21 years I've owned it the instrument has never failed to wow sonically and visually. It's mint aside from fret wear. It's priceless to me at this point. Any way great vid! I just found your channel recently and I look forward to your next project.
Mark should look for a viper to do that purple crackle finish. That'd be so cool.
Honestly love this one!
Might be my favorite crackle you've done so far.
Your dads c3 corvette is absolutely gorgeous.
I think this is your best crackle finish ever.
My first job was in a guitar shop, I was there so much the owner told me one day to show up tomorrow on the pay roll and tune/ maintain guitars. I had a guitar before that in high school I painted 9 times haha just scuff it up and new look. It was heavy in the end :P Great vids, I wish I could show you some of my builds! Love the reptile look!
You're the MAN Mark!! All of your MODS are Beautiful!!
The guitar turned out better than I expected. It has a lizard vibe to it. Great job.
Your show is an amazing inspiration. Just finished a one week guitar setup course. Starting to feel pretty comfortable taking stuff apart and getting it all back together right, lol! Next up is trying my own crazy cool paint job. I really liked your magma crackle job, but Godzilla is pretty cool too!
Whoa! Where can I take a guitar set up course? Was it in person or was it online?
@@krypticcoil9540 It was in person. In my hometown, Vancouver (the Canadian one).
@@shakebabyhitler thank you for answering!
The "EMG Pickup Wiring Kit" is 40 bucks for 4 pots, all the cables, new jack, battery clip... I know that you have 80% of that already from the humbucker set, but the spare parts eventually will be used and they don't go bad.
That's awesome of you sharing the details on how to do with painting👍🙌🤘
This has inspired me to rebuild my old guitars....Thanks man!!
Reminds me of a Star Wars bounty hunter character named Bosk. That's what popped into my head when I saw it.
So cool! So glad that this series is back! 🤘
Red base coat over a crackle, followed by a house of kolour silver marbelizer then a few coats of candy brandywine and several coats of clear.
You'd have a ton of depth and a cool look.
The green and yellow crackle looks amazing!
I’ve actually been wanting to this exact same thing to an ml ever since I found out about the crackle coat a few years ago. Cool to see someone actually do it with the same colors
That finish is pretty unique. My current main guitar is a '94 Jackson PS-4, which has an HSH configuration.
This one is killer.... Thanks for the inspo :)
Lizard skin is the right name for this guitar. Looks awesome
Damn. That’s beautiful. I am thinking of filling in my neck cavity for my KH202. I love the guitar, but I love that single humbucker look.
Indeed, that is an awesome looking guitar. Nice finish and you can't go wrong with EMG's.
Best channel on youtube!
Best guitar channel on youtube
Awesome paint job crackle paint is amazing I love Esp Ltd guitars !!!
Great paint job bud, i recently got a jackson warrior and ive been thinking of refinishing it, watching your videos has helped me get some ideas
keep it up!
dude that’s awesome 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎶 i’d call that the Godzilla LTD! cool build the ESP company is going to be jealous, that make a great signature model for the band Gojira 🐉
Keeping the texture was a good idea. Really nice finish on this one.
The KH1 and the one of the MX 220s are just a few of my dream guitars. I'd also love to own a Bill Kelliher Golden Axe Explorer, a 70s Les Paul Custom, a USA BC Rich Ironbird, and a Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster, and a Dunable. A man can dream lol.
man thats my second fave so far that youve ever done killer job bro!
Dude, cool job! I have the same passion you have for LTDs but, I love the late 80s early 90s Ibanez RG series. I have a few of them and I've been thinking of tricking one out with some FU Tone stuff... Keep up the good work!
H-S-H is definitely a taste someone is looking for, or looking to avoid. I have 1 guitar like this. the pickup was good, but always in my way when playing. I carefully shaped a piece of wood like a single coil pickup and painted it, added 6 hex poles in the top so its a perfect dummy pickup. Put that in the cavity and lowered it way down. Then i used the pickup in another guitar. Honestly, just did all that to sharpen my work working skills, and to not leave an empty cavity (direct mount style).
Great job Mark! We don't usually see those colours on a crackle finish so it definitely stands out!
Great build I think the texture is perfect for the color scheme.
Loving having Trash to Thrash back! I look forward to it all week. Can’t wait to eventually send my old guitar in
What about some fretboard work? Can you dye a fretboard green or yellow? What about black? Also do you ever do fret dots? I bet you could do some gnarly stuff with that. Imagine fretboard dots having green outsides and yellow centers. Heck do the same for the fret markers on the side of the neck! I just think that would be neat.
Also the bass player of limp bizkit plays a bass with lights in his fretboard as dots. Id love to something like that happen if possible!
And bro thats the sweetest looking entry level Ltd I've ever seen!
Yet another awesome episode!! Turned out bad ass dude!!👊🏼🤘🏼🍻
Wow. Another absolutely awesome guitar. Good work!
Man every guitar you do is so cool, this lizard skin finish has got to be my favorite so far.
The crackle paint with the green to yellow burst looks incredible. Definitely reminds me of a wild reptile. Awesome work as always! 🤘🔥🎸
I wish you made more guitars with the textured finish. It looks amazing mark
OH Man!!!That is one of the best builds I've seen in awhile!!!👍🔥🤘The Lizard King!!!
Hey Mark that guitar looks completely awesome and what makes it even more special is the fact that something from your childhood made you think of doing that paint job I just thought that was pretty cool the guitar looks great, and the kill switch makes me think of a glowing dragon's eye this just further makes me wish that I could do what you do for a living I know that might sound weird, but that's just how I feel I wish I could make masterpieces like that and then be able to pass it on to someone else for them to enjoy I've got nothing but massive respect for you my friend take care of yourself and stay safe as always I'm looking forward to next week's episode, stay awesome 🤘
You deserve more subscribers , really sick guitar!!
Sooo SICK! Also love the HSH look! The finish is straight up KILLER! GREAT JOB! LOVE your show and never miss it!
Love the finish on that lizard guitar
I’d love to see you do a USA made Peavey Predator they are very well made.
wow a FU tone big block for my mayones regius pro ! i won't say no !🤘and wow ! what a killer finish dude , to me , the only thing missing is a fretboard blackening but other than that the guitar is sick , well done
The lizard skin LTD is very bad ass 🤘💯 metal guitar super fantastic job on it you should make more of them the colors are awesome
I had an LTD MH201 that was see-thru purple. Loved that guitar but sometimes life gets in the way.
I now own an LTD MH-1000 among my arsenal. My second favorite guitars next to Ibanez.
I love your channel,me and my brother trying to custom guitars back in the Day,but we didn't know what we were doing.the way you come up awesome finish with spray paint, and the see through pick gaurd and light's, would have never thought of that. Don't get to play to often single dad, little 5yr daughter, but she likes metal, and you are creating art!! Very kool!!
wow, it looks f***in' awesome. the texture on that thing, man. I would try it with different colors and combinations.
The texture looks crazy
That is sick looking and sounds great! I love the lighter fretboard with the green and yellow.
This is amazing stuff! Ive just subbed and can't wait to see what's coming next!
That was some good work with the logo.
Sick man! Loving that 8 string I got from you!
Seen the lizard crackle on the website for the last few weeks - I was wondering when you'd make a video on it! Great work as always man
That's a sweet axe. Love the colors.
Awesome man! Love the texture.
looks amazing man! keep it up i love the videos
You might look into Schecter the Hellraiser is the H-1000. Same body carve and neck just different end to the headstock and inlays and color options. ESP and Schecter are owned by the same company but Schecters higher line is mostly all made in Korea/US. Where ESPs would be Korea/Japan. I do wish I could get my hands on a green H-1000 though. Those things are gorgeous. That and a purple Hellraiser are high on my list of guitars to aquire.
its awesome man, great job as always
Absolutely love your work keep it up!!
i really like this. like alot! great job man!
Love that Korean ltd Frankenstein!!!🤘🔥👍
Killer guitar, especially the crackle
super sick!
MARK YOU'RE FUCKING INSANE DUDE WOW JUST AMAZING 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, it's AWESOME.
Yep! It's awesome
I’m also from Dayton Ohio! Love your videos man keep it up
🤘🤘🤘 Great as always Mark!
BAD ASS GUITAR ,MAN ...!
You know, throughout this series I've been looking at ways on making the wirings for the pots and switches. For this one, I'm not a big fan of a five way switch. I would usually opt for a three way, connect it with the humbuckers, and have the volume be a push-pull/push-push (depending on the style of knob) that would activate the middle pickup in the up position.
Awwww yeah!!!It's trash to thrash time!!!👍🤘🔥
Unreal...... impressed!
Looks and sounds killer, dude!
Really enjoying the series! Have you ever tried staining/dying the fingerboard an unusual color like blue, red or green? Also what are your thoughts on finishing a fingerboard with CA glue to make it smooth like glass?
That thing is WICKED!!!
Mark great work as always bro.
looks great mark i dig it alot!!
Dude that looks so sick !
Love it. As for HSH guitars they're very versatile if you only have one guitar to bring to a gig that can cover a lot of tones.
I actually really like the H-S-H configuration, it gives you more tonal options, especially if you like playing other genres
As per usual, it turned out to be wicked awesome (complete understatement). Hey do you ever sand the gloss finishes on the backs of the necks down to a matte finish by chance?
I love the work you do!! LTD's are great guitars!!! I had an F-50 that was really solid!! I wish I hadn't sold it.
That came out amazing 🤘🏼
I got some of those noiseless springs, but my mind didn't register that a 7 string probably should have got the heavier ones. I had to go with 4 springs.
May have to get you to hook up my Les Paul after taxes love watching your builds
Looks amazing.
Hey that Ltd looks amazing
Thing came out wicked rad.
Man I think it's fucking killer , I totally dig the finish on the axe , it's different and that's cool man!!! It really dose resemble lizard skin man!!! And the HSH combo is great for a shredder and the kill switch just adds to the versatility of it!!! I bet you can have some killershred tones out of it!!!! Trust me if had the read it would be coming to the house Daddio!!!! As they say down south were I'm from that what we call"pretty work" !!!! Lol!!!!
Awesome! Great idea not to sand it and leaving that lizard texture.
That came out badass 🤘
