Haven’t got any questions, but I want to thank you for making these videos. Because of you I got a set of gotoh locking tuners, my first ever mod even if it is an easy one, and they are really great
I also got some Gotohs today and put them on because of him. It's a nice upgrade from the factory tuners
Congrats Bro!
It would be cool to see a series on customized guitars that aren’t the usual “metal” guitars, done up in the Trash to Thrash style. Jazzmasters, Firebirds, and others that are maybe more traditional that would do well with an aggressive transition.
Truuuuue, like jim root jazzmasters and telecasters, they look nice
@@guitarristae.o.d yeah but take it a couple steps further!
Yeah I'd love that. For some reason I want to see a really cool moded SG.
The charvel looks awesome love the paint job I can’t wait to see more when you find out how it’s painted .
Beautiful paint jobs; the side of that Charvel was especially-cool to me. The Trash Talk logo also looks great!
Custom Spray Mods did an episode on that crystal finish. They have links to the paint
ruclips.net/video/SFhdyyrMaBQ/видео.html
The product used to do the paint job on that Charvel is not paint. It is actually a liquid mask product. This is not a product you will want to use with rattle can paint. The Charvel was paint base coat white, then the liquid mask was applied and allowed to dry. Then base coat black was lightly sprayed over the mask. Then you wash the mask off the guitar and clear coat. You can also spray candies over it before clear coating.
Leave a reply with an email address and I'll let you know who makes it in the US and a link directly to the product. The cost is $85.00 for a quart.
I'm surprised you didn't plastic bag the headstock - white base, let dry, paint black and use a scrunched up bag to give the pattern by laying on and lifting the bag.
The crackle did come out looking great though.
I only use the insets now. They work really well.
That reverse headstock is wonderful
I totally dig the screw thing on the back of the neck. It seems like a no brainer with stability and longevity . Great idea.
Damn, Guitar mods and Retro content. If you were in Kern County we'd be best friends. I'm in both industries.
Those hot rails rock on that stick!
The inserts are interesting. I've seen Phillip from "Know Your Gear" use them one time. I'd like to get some of'em.
That finish looks made by hand, there were some art projects I remember that involve Chinese Ink... it sort of looks like that, chinese Ink, let it sit and scratch away... that's what it looks like
Never seen a finish like this before… very cool.
Hey Mark,It's called Mutant paint crystalz or paint crystalz effects.👍
Very cool.
Congrats on being on Swola (Ola England) today,Mark!!!🤘👍🔥
As always Mark you have done great work. However, I'm not sold on the crackle headstock combined with the finish on the body. It doesn't really match...
My main ax is a musikraft, love it. Now days their a bit limited though unfortunately....
Holy shit that finish looks insane.
That's the coolest build I've ever seen on your channel or anywhere for that matter. I must have it. Its absolutely stunning. WTF!!?? Just WOW!!
I'm shopping for parts to rebuild an ancient CoolAxe B.C.Rich Platinum Series with a white and black crackle finish I bought in late 80s...
Lol love the Burger King Pokéball in the background by the tv. Throwback! Love your content!
Omg that finish is amazing.
I would like to see one of your rebuilt/modified guitar on the channel Guitar Max and a collab with Burls Art.
ive seen that shatter looking paint on harleys and hotrods id ask around those kinds of people
the insert things are pretty cool. ive thought about doing that but never seen it done so i figured there was probobly a reason why
The body has a comic book vibe. Came together well.
I remember seeing that paint like 10 years ago at Lowes or Michael's. That paint job it pretty cool. Great Job on the head stock. The crackle always seems to come out really good for you on the head stocks you have done. Haven't used the neck bolt inserts yes, but i have 2 guitar that i really should. Some of the highly figured woods (like Birdseye) is not as strong as quarter-sawn maple. So if you take the necks off a couple times, you will have saw dust sitting on your work bench on the removal. Hoping that someday you will do a Yellow body with big Black crackles like the old Charvel guitars. Awesome Work Mark - always looking forward to the next episode.
Would love to see a surf guitar with crackle
I had that same power rangers game on Sega way back in the day, forgot that thing even existed lol.
Great work as always! I installed the threaded inserts into my old telecaster and it was so solid nothing could beat it.
I think a guitar with stealth crackle would be really cool. What do you think?
I keep seeing the dime body in the back and I’m hyped
11:50 sick guitar dude!
I watched episode 33, and to the guy who said you didn’t build these guitars you mod em. Well let’s see what he’s been building I would love to examine his builds.
Love your stuff man! At some point I wanna send you a couple projects.
Love the look of that guitar!
Could you do a Syn. gates style paint job on a future project, that doesnt look like his signature model, maybe a normal Strat ! Would be cool to watch
Have you ever thought of building a Cigar Box Guitar?
That the DNA crystal FX? Looks kinda like it . I did a 2x12 mojotone slamin cab with my home made DNA or mutant crystals turned out cool
Maaaan, awesome axe, keep up the good work man, cheers!
Hey Mark,
just wanted to say congratulations on starting season 3, I love the way that Charvel looks and sounds too of course, I've always been a sucker for single pickup guitars no disrespect to other types of guitars I just like the way the treble pickup sounds by itself especially if it's a well known good quality pickup, by the way I agree the paint job on that guitar is really cool, I like the new Q & A segment I think that's an excellent idea and I especially liked the fact that you said the show won't be going anywhere, and it'll be here for a long time which I hope so because I never miss an episode, and I'm definitely sharing it with my all my friends, and I'd like to consider you a friend and I hope that doesn't sound too weird anyway see you next week for another awesome episode take care of yourself congratulations again and of course rock on my friend.
Hey mark, just thought I’d let you know if you haven’t already seen it that Ola Englund featured you on Sunday With Ola this week. He showed the Washburn Solar V that you did a few weeks back and really bigged you up!
Very cool episode mark yeah I get people saying that I need to build the necks from scratch and I tell them I have no interest in building their making next I just buy them and modifying them, ts way cheaper that way it doesn't make me a bad guitar maker if I don't make the necks from scratch🤣
I have a modification question. I'd like to replace an old Floyd Rose system with a fixed bridge (like a Tune-o-matic style). (Note: I do NOT want to just block/lock the Floyd; I want to remove it completely.) Do I need to be concerned the bridge radius? And do I need to be concerned with the bridge slot locations? And, of course, any specific recommendations for replacing a Floyd Rose with a fixed bridge.
If you want a tune-o-matic bridge, it would be harder than you think, 'cause you need to change the neck tilt. The "easiest" way it's full all cavities with wood and install any strat style hard tail bridge and match the fretboard radius adjusting the saddles
@@BLK4EVR Ok, cool. Yeah, I starting thinking just putting in a tune-o-matic (I do plan on filling cavities) isn't so straight forward. I'll have a look into the strat style bridge. Thanks, Alberto!
@@TheStrykerProject Hipshot makes some good fixed bridges that sit low enough that don't require any neck tilt.
@@BlazinLow305 Thanks Zach, I appreciate your response. I recall seeing the Hipshot, but ended up getting a Schaller bridge that is just what I was looking for.
Love this channel thanks fir such great work
you're such a cool guy mark
Another awesome video... well done and thankyou.... cheers.
I’m interested in knowing more about the bridge on the shatter Charvel, how good is it, where can you get one
I have a 2 part question. A while back you mention Floyd rose saddle height, I think I have this problem on mine, how would you go about figuring out what order they go in? And also could you give some advise on fixing a broken headstock? Like the pointy end of a Jackson. Thanks dude, as always, badass build and looking foreword to next week.
Yeah dude this finish is awesome. I discoverer you a few months ago and I'm addicted to this series. Greetings from Finland by the way :D
Just wanted to say keep doing what you're doing man I love your channel love the info on refinishing as far as doing clear coat etc....
looks similar to schecter's silver mountain paint job
Great vids, I have been working on my own guitars for the past 2 years now and this show inspired many more ideas :)
this kind of paint is called samurai crystal paint it works the same as regular crackle paint
Please keep doing things your way, you are on the right path.
Love your process!
I want to rebuild my B.C Rich Warlock that I bought for £180 back in 2007 as its starting to show its age. I want to completely strip it and put all new electronics, hardware, frets, new paint job, the lot. If it was something you do for yourself, what sort of price bracket would you be looking at ??
I would love to start something like what you do... I am based in Mexico and I am tired of this 9-5, I know that when you have your own business you go 24/7, but imagine, 24/7 of guitars!!!
That came out great
looks amazing man! keep it up i love the videos
I've seen people get the same crystal effect using Urea fertilizer and a teaspoon of dish soap.
Wow that’s interesting.
It's such an amazing piece man and the headstock takes it ☝ a notch
Yea, just found your channel and I must say, I really dig it. I rebuilt or mod guitars as well and sell them. I’m nowhere’s good as you on the paint though but am practicing. I do a lot of electronics modding.
My question is what is your favorite build that you've done?
love what you do man
Tell me that les paul shown (briefly in the beginning) is getting a stealth bullseye
Another good looking guitar!
Once again, great job Mark!
What kind of gloss finish did you use on the headstock? I wanna paint a guitar glossy but I don’t know what gloss to use
looking great, man! really enjoying these builds!
I subbed less than a week ago. Great videos. Sick guitars. I’ll be looking forward to the next one!
Like your shirt Mark, would like to have one. Those inserts are interesting!
Looks great. I give that Vans sticker 5 days. Vans needs to update that cardboard decal.
What is that bridge!?
Great episode! I’ve asked this before, but it was prior to the Q&A portion being added in - plus, you touched on it in those episode as well.
If you do not have an overhead drill press, do you have any recommendations/tricks for drilling the holes on your neck? Or do you think I should just bring it to a repair shop/luthier?
Very cool finish ! Cool guitar !
What brand/model is that bridge?
OMG 😮 that charvel looks sick 😷 i think you’ve out done yourself mark 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸
What bridge is that?
Really cool
Do you ever put your own logos on any of your rebuilds? Considering (to me that is) that some of them truly deserve it.
You should try instead on spraying a crackle, use your vinyl machine and make a decal of the black crackle that way you always get the same crackle patterns
I just saw Mark's response to this today...I've thought about something similar to this idea. I was thinking of scaling out and printing up some faux binding on the cricut...or a template to paint faux binding...you could probably print out a template for spraying a faux crackle too.
To Mark's point, the weeding of a crackle printout would suck (even on weed)...but, could be done...and the transfer paper would make it easy to apply (Mark MUST know about transfer paper, so, that part of the response didn't make sense to me). If you taped off the area you don't want decal (coz once the decal touches guitar, it doesn't like leaving without messing things up) and printed over-sized crackle pattern...I think it'd be doable.
What is the right order to setup a electric guitar? For years I wanted to setup my guitars myself, but I always get nervous to do something wrong that will make me do a lot of steps again, or, to skip a important step just to go back to it later on...
Is there the right steps to setup a guitar? Do you have any tips to avoid some mistakes?
That would be cool to have this on T.v, definitely be a hit. But,I totally understand.
#TrashTalk. I want to get hot rail pickups in the guitar I want to be build. But 1 of the ideas I have is a mat black body with gold hardware which I don't think will go. Is it possible to put hot rail pickups inside a gold humbucker casing without affecting the sound if the pickups ??
What kind of bridge is that on the charvel? I've never seen one like that. I'm wondering if that might be some proprietary thing charvel used at some point or if that's aftermarket.
I love this axe! Super cool
Will you still be doing full builds in season 3? Also, will you be doing a Q&A in every episode?
That is a cool finish. Not sure the crackle matches it tho
Do more Charvel guitars
I got a question. I have a guitar with 22 frets and a floyd rose, is it possible to put a neck on with 24 frets or would I have to reroute the bridge cavity and all that crazy stuff?
Nice man
Did you not have to adjust the truss rod on that replacement neck?
Hi. Might be hydro dipping.
Love this show!!
I'm very interested in those inserts. I want to know how they stand the test of time.
Should I reply to our previous emails or send you another email with the updated info?
Love watching these videos! Can anybody send you a guitar for some work or is it like a specific thing you do for your show? I have a John 5 signature tele that I think would be sick if it got that "Murray Touch"!
Yeah send me an email mark@guitarguts.com
What is your favorite guitars to rebuild
What is the exact name of that rare paint? Can check if they sell it here in Japan.
