I did the same FR retrofit install on my Warlock project, that came with a Strat type trem on it. Like this Wolfgang I top mounted it rather than recess it, and my original plan was to have it completely decked, so the baseplate sits flat on the body top just like a Strat bridge does, so I get maximum string vibration transfer through the body. But what I didn't know at the time was that doing that limits how far you can dive on it, as the front edge of the FR baseplate contacts the body and tries to push the bridge backwards, away from the posts. It wasn't until later (after I'd redesigned a little and set mine up floating 1.5mm above the body) that the way the Wolfgang's got around this was to recess a "channel" between the mounting posts, as seen in t 11:45 in this video. I also had to shim the neck to get the correct string angle and fix the action, but I made my own shim as the cost for shipping the StewMac ones to the UK was ridiculous.
Nice reworks bud! I've been doing the same for about 8 years now but as part of a charity group (so not a competitor). I did a Bumblebee paint job on an old Squire that I overhauled, but wanted to give a slightly different look to it than the original EVH style. It turned out really well and I also added a kill-switch button for fun. I am enjoying watching a builder/refinisher/refresher/updater like myself making a go at it! Lots of existing platforms to rework out there to play with!!!! Keep crafting brother!
I love the OLP conversion! I had my rare green OLP converted to a Floyd and I'm thinking about getting a used OLP to paint in the red/white/ black stripes.
Quick question. Do you know any company that can make a Peavey Wolfgang type neck? Love the channel, I’m in the process of bringing back a hardtail Wolfgang but the neck needs to be replaced. 🤟🏻
For any guitar, I prefer a gloss finish. It should look brand new. I don't understand the whole "relic" thing. Why buy something new when you want it to look old? If you use your guitars, they will get chipped and dented anyway, but organically.
I like your videos its good watching while im working, i build pedals and amps for a livibg for 10 years now. I also used to luthier at a shop in phoenix az I build guitars from scratch with my best friend. Ypur comment alot of shops or luthiers not wanting to install a floyd. Any real luthier has no problem putting a floyd in. Its just as easy as any type of trem system, its kinda a slam against other luthiers as if your making yourself sound as if your more willing to work on guitars than alot of other luthiers. You seem like a nice guy, im sure that wasnt your intention but when you said it, iwas like what huh? To myself. Anyways ill keep checking your stuff out, you may just want to think about not cutting other builders luthiers shops etc while compkementing yourself.
What was the average price for each of this customers guitars? Bridge work and all? Wanna turn a 68 tele blonde into a Floyd rose with a Jackson or Ibanez style neck? No paint work except the head stock, with a custom designed name,Like a Fenderson or my call name, Crisis,IDK? Please let me know,i’ll send you pictures before the body and hardware, though the original 68’ tele pickups may not sound the way i want this to be. Duncan’s are likely! The factory neck and frets are toast is why i’m willing to do it! I’d love all Gold hardware aswell. Thanks for your time!
I was told by a professional that in order for a guitar to be Floyd Rose equipped, your neck must have some sort of reinforcement, or it will take a set over time and possibly break. If that isn't true, then Im gonna go ahead and do the build I was planning. Id like to hear a follow up on these guitars a little further down the line to see how well they fared. Very cool.
The olp or wolfgangs in general all have the same necks so if that’s the case it’s already designed for a Floyd rose. I personally don’t see why it would need extra reinforcement.
Hey man I'm looking for someone to build me something similar to Alex Lifeson's signiture aurora. I love your passion, and would love to have you do the build for me 🤝
Neat trick, is there any way that we could get a PDF of that Strat Trem to Floyd conversion template? I understand it's your business and everything but it would be really helpful for us who live in different countries and want to modify our own guitars.

I agree a new guitar should look like a new guitar, It'll "relic" on its own
relicd' version for EVH Guitars for sure

The hole drilled at an angle will never come out perfectly round, it has to be an ellipse. So never sweat that!

High gloss reason being I feel like relicing is cheating. It needs to have honest road wear
High Gloss
The best
Relic
