My favorite is the one Chris Holmes from WASP played on the live at the Lyceum concert video. That thing was so ugly it was beautiful. And I wanted it badly.

The Kelly Star is my all time fav, but I do also really love the Xiphos and the Stealth as well. I also have plans on my PC for a ESP Arrow/EX star, like what Jackson did for the Kelly Star, just with ESP shapes.
In terms of Star Guitars, I gotta go with Akira Takasaki's Random Star from ESP

My favorite star guitar shape is the Guild X-82 Nova. The proportions are perfect. And I love the binding as well as the colors it was offered in.
On a side note, Warmoth offers a star shaped body that you can spec out how you want.
Got 2 Xiphos (2003 - 2007 respectively) one of them is fully customized. Love them!
That guitar redefines the term 'Superstar' with all the fantastic upgrades and care you put into it. You convinced me that the Gotoh bridge is also a great substitute without having to go to FU-Tone for new springs and a brass block. The single humbucker configuration is just great for metal, I'm a huge fan of that. Superb work, once again!
Yup these guitars are my favorite, I love the pointy ones.
I have several dean ML's and dimebags..but my fav is the stealth dimeslime..it's very comfortable sitting and standing plus it sounds heavy AF!

the star is one of those shapes I am obsessed with. probably why I love the Jackson Warrior and the Ibanez Xiphos body shapes. Another one I love is the B.C. Rich Ironbird.
I saw George Lynch playing a Star Guitar at the Starwood around 1977-78
Change the saddle inserts and block on the Floyd. Get the replacements from F U tone. Change the pick up and replace with the Seymour duncan invader. Replace the pot with a Bourns low friction pot. Cut the lower horn for better access to upper frets. Change the neck. Replace with a DKMG 24 fret neck. I have a shark and replaced the pick ups with Jalen puck ups with clear bobbins. On other Stars that I have, paint was important. As for painting. 92 Nissan purplish blue and 92 Mitsubishi figi blue. No paint in pick up cavity, control cavity, or where the foyd goes. I have done two custom B C Rich guitars. Warlock and a Ironbird. Make your decisions count. And do not look back!

Was actually playing on my Charvel Desolation Star while watching this.
I love it, and I find the stock pickup surprisingly good.
I also have a Roope Latvala signature LTD, wich is a prettier more hi end guitar,
but I prefer the neck shape on the Charvel.
The Charvel Star is my fave Star shape, but I also have a soft spot for the B.C.Rich Iron Bird,
and of course the Jackson Warrior.

Mk1 ironbird, Kramer Voyager, and Jackson Kelly star are all lethal
Kane Roberts (former Alice Cooper guitarist) played my fav star. Black Kramer with silver faded in the center (think thats how to describe it). A buggy of mine had it in JR High.

First star guitar I saw was when Roope Latvala was still in COB and got a signature guitar from ESP. It was fuckin awesome it had a single bridge pick up, white body, cross inlays and it was an ESP.
Kramer had a Star. Mick Mars actually played one.
All of those are pretty much based on Explorers.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned the Ibanez DT series that they had in the mid 80's . Was only made for I believe about a few years( (85-87 ?). Had one back in the day. It's pretty much exactly like the guitar you're doing right now . Came equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups and a Kahler flyer bridge.
Awesome video, Mark! I also agree that the 1996t is by far the best double-locking tremolo in the game. I've installed three of them on my guitars now and I will never go with any other Floyd Rose system if I'm doing an upgrade
David Davidson should make the list his playing is unreal and his Jackson sig warrior is a beast of a guitar, great build loving the star shapes.

I’m building a VH78 guitar. After this I’ll be building a ESP Random Star like Akira from Loudness played in the mid 80s the red one with the Dan Elctro style neck. Your channel is great.
I would probably go Ibanez Ziphos in that last match-up, but I'm apalled that my favorite star shape has yet to be talked about, that is the ESP / LTD AX-50. Looks like they went after the Warlock on that design but I actually prefer it as it has a more futuristic and streamlined look.

Star guitars look cool, though as a practical kinda guy, the form over function mindset bugs me. I appreciate how S style Superstrats (the Dinky shape particularly, given it takes the form following function standard that is a Strat and makes it ever so slightly smaller, just a tad more aggressive and with better upper fret access, without either sticking too much with the original as in the San Dimas, or going too pointy and aggressive-looking as in the RG).
This to say: apart from BC Rich’s iterations that, shall we say… take an acquired taste, I appreciate these pointy, flashier body styles, though I can’t really see myself rocking one. As with the Kelly Star, this one looks awesome after the GuitarGuts treatment, though!

I bitterly regret putting my 1994 B C Rich Warlock in the bin fifteen years ago. It had the worst floyd rose imaginable and shit pickups. It was impossible to get good intonation. However it was the guitar I played gigs with as a kid! The sad thing is RUclips has taught me how to sort all the issues with that guitar out now. :-(

I have to say......I've never really cared for the star shape but that paint really made it look brutal. I'm curious....I see a lot of splatter paint jobs....is this real popular with customer requests?

How did the Warrior not take this poll? With a reverse headstock, it blows every other star shape out of the water except the ML. And an ML w/ a reverse Jackson headstock and slightly sharper points is even better (see original Primal Concrete Sledge ML)
