This type of lesson/explanation is very helpful at certain stages/levels. Bravo for that. Anyone whining about it not being advanced enough should actually take the time to read the caption, at bare minimum... Or better yet, listen to your words describing your intention. Should be obvious.
The intro to One allowed me to play along with the music. The middle riff in Fade to Black taught me galloping. Main riff of Creeping Death taught me downstrokes. Seek & Destroy taught me accuracy with skipping strings. Master of Puppets solidified my downstrokes.
For as much as I LOVE the first 5 albums, there's just something about post black album Metallica that just speaks to me. Load is an absolute BANGER idc what anyone says, reload is a solid follow up, Garage Inc. is just a fun album of covers with some being better than the original imo, and lets not forget everyone's favorite St. Anger! When i was younger I was like "WTH were you guys thinking?!" But as an adult, its pretty special to me and honestly its in my top 5 Metallica albums. Death Magnetic, Hardwired, and 72 or the "Rob Era" are just full of energy from a band that most people would think should have fizzled out by now but like they said in 82' " We'll never stop, we'll never quit cause' we're Metallica!"
The first Metallica song I ever heard was One. The first Metallica riff I learned was actually Jump in the Fire, and followed it up with Four Horsemen, and Seek and Destroy. I also learned their cover of Am I Evil. Great fun and a good way to start learning Metal guitar. My absolute favorite Metallica songs to play though are Trapped Under Ice, Wherever I May Roam, and Fade to Black. All three I found were the most fun to play, especially Trapped Under Ice.
Loved the video. Very similar to me, about 20 years ago when I was 18 I learnt how to play parts of all these songs, then slowly forgot about all these songs. Now I’ve taken up learning Metallica again, nailing down one song a month. Started with Battery!
Back in the 90’s Total Guitar had three Metallica intros tabbed out. One, Nothing Else Matters and Master Of Puppets! I was a beginner but I stuck at it for weeks, MOP was such a challenge back then. Learnt a lot from that.
Still learning guitar myself, and I’ve tried learning a variety of Metallica songs, they’re very fun to learn and play even if I kinda suck. Currently learning suicide and redemption bc I’ve become a huge fan of the death magnetic album recently
It the beginning I tried multiple Metallica songs, none I could do. But I found "Am I Evil" which is super fun and very easy. Also Black Sabbath is awsome choice for beginners.
I learned most of those within a week or two back when they came out but I have been playing since 1980 when I was 15 . I started late but had a really good teacher my first song was Crazy Train not Smoke on the Water like most lol . I had a natural ability I guess never studied music theory or anything like that just learned songs until that light Bulb moment happened. Once the Internet was really getting going I was able to transition from just rhythm to Shred which was what I always really wanted to do . I didn't pigeon hole myself either I learned Ratt ,Dokken , Crue , Def Lepp riffs even stuff I didn't like Eurhythmics , Culture Clue ect. I hated it but it took me places and and added things to my playing that lead to the light bulb moment . Great Video so gonna dive back into some of those Metallica songs !!
🤣 I got my first guitar at age 52 (last year), thanks for showing me the power chordy Creeping Death riff…… I was a young man when I first heard that 😞👍….so many beers ago 🍺🤪🤘
Damn, I'm going through your course and having so much fun practicing rn. Hopefully you'll release a few more in the near future. Maybe a metalcore or a pantera one?
I agree with the master of puppets, like yes it’s hard going fast, but when you take it slow your like oh this is pretty easy, also Sanitarium is also a good beginner song, and nothing else matters especially bc there’s variations to play the verses
Genuine question, when you really get into it and aren't paying any attention, has your hair ever gotten caught in the guitar? Ive gotten strings from long sleeve shirts caught before and i couldn't imagine the pain from hair getting ripped out.
First time on your channel. If you haven't done so, could you please make a tutorial video of the fast downpicking in this guitar playing position (classical on the left leg), for some reason I have not yet seen anyone talk about the differences in technique even thou the guitar and picking angles are different. Don't know why🤷🏻♂️. I can downpick faster when I'm standing up (because guitar is more at the "right leg position angle", but my sitting style of practice is with a guitar on a left leg, and my picking seems different/worse
Hey Jamey slays I have a question!!!! How do you dial in that chirping scraping tone kinda like a pinch harmonic tone in every note can you give me the specs on your distortion tone
Así es yo también cuando comense aprender a tocar guitarra yo me keria aprender todas las rolas de metalllica Pero no lo ise me aprendí bastantes aun asi Amo a metallica Pero hay bandas más pesadas y brutales
Hmm let me see, Metallica riffs I started out on, Whiplash, Four horsemen, No Remorse, Seek, Bells, Orion, Harvester, One, To live is to die, Eye of the beholder, honorable meniton, Am I evil

If you Metallica is hard, try Megadeth. Heck Metallica stole off Dave and they haven't made a good CD in 30 plus years.😂
The intro to One allowed me to play along with the music.
The middle riff in Fade to Black taught me galloping.
Main riff of Creeping Death taught me downstrokes.
Seek & Destroy taught me accuracy with skipping strings.
Master of Puppets solidified my downstrokes.
Yehhhh that’s a good workout routine
I was just thinking to my self today how Metallica songs really make the exercise that help you learn guitar easier to understand why you do them.
Fade to Black is also one of my favorite songs to play, it has such easy but impactful parts.
Yehhhh!!!! Me tooooo
Absolutely sold on including to live is to die. Nobody ever includes that song 😎

Seek and destroy and jump in the fire are still to this day two of my favorites to play.

Very thoughtful video for beginners. Not just going through 10 riffs butbalso explained what in particular they helped tou with 👍

My first ever metal song I learned/played/was obsessed was Master of Puppets, thanks to KillrBuckeye for sharing the song through his youtube cover
KillrBuckeye thought me some cool songs. Years and years ago

It can get stuck, but it won't get ripped out
Yes. Yes it does. It’s irritating and slightly painful. Recently it got stuck in the headstock and pulled it out. Ouch
@JamieSlays it gets stuck in the headstock? Jesus that sounds awful. I didn't even think about tuning pegs.
I saw a guy get his hair stuck in a mic stand at a concert recently. Looked painful.
Great video.
Yep!
Yay, I can play all these, does this mean that I am no longer a beginner? I would love to see a breakdown of the final solo in Fade to Black.

Hardest part of that Jump in the Fire riff is the ridiculously fast downpicking😬
What do you use to get Metallica tones? I’ve got spark amp but most on the cloud don’t match the originals and are so bass heavy.
I had some I made for it but apparently the link has expired. If you message me on instagram I’ll try and send them to you. Jamieslaysofficial
Bro you should do a cover of the prince 1985 with cliff in studio the bass just slays in that version
Hey Jamey slays I have a question!!!! How do you dial in that chirping scraping tone kinda like a pinch harmonic tone in every note can you give me the specs on your distortion tone
I have the line6 pod go and a boss amp
What tone setting are you using?
Así es yo también cuando comense aprender a tocar guitarra yo me keria aprender todas las rolas de metalllica
Pero no lo ise me aprendí bastantes aun asi
Amo a metallica
Pero hay bandas más pesadas y brutales
What would be a good pedal or 2 to get the sound? I'm new to playing, just picked up an Epiphone Les Paul, and Boss Katana Artist. Thanks
Thanks for the lesson but you may consider using a guitar in the future with the dots of the neck to make it easier to see where you are.
Thank you! In the course itself I use one. My Jackson with dots :) noted
What is the 1986 toronto speed? And what is the album speed? 210?
What guitar brand is that? 🤘🏼👀
Jail break guitars :) instagram.com/jailbreakguitars?igsh=MWJod3J4eGI0Y2xiOQ==
What pickups do you have in that?
@@jasonkidd1689 emg 81-60
@@JamieSlays Thanks
What kind of guitar are you using? I don’t recognize it
It’s a jailbreak custom from Italy :) check them out!
Same riffs just a different order for me, but seek and destroy was the first lol
What is the name of the guitar?
Emailed you 😊
NIICE
A afinação é padrão Metallica ou não
I love playing Metallica so much ...
I made a career out of it. ;)
Just like how they made a career off Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton!
@@bendup52 don't forget .. Diamond Head, Budgie, ANL, Danzig etc etc
Is your course just the riffs you played or the whole song?
Just the riffs yeah. Bitesize
Hmm let me see, Metallica riffs I started out on, Whiplash, Four horsemen, No Remorse, Seek, Bells, Orion, Harvester, One, To live is to die, Eye of the beholder, honorable meniton, Am I evil
Four horsemen. Lots of fun playing but can only play at 180 before it starts to break. Needs to be 204.
i have tried to alternate pick most Metallica songs but it just does not sound right. No Metallica police coming for me lol.
Bro, nice hair
Creeping death intro riff 💀
Well what u doin is really playing guitar
seek and destroy
Back in 93 i started with One from tab 30 years playing Metallica whatever i learn now has a Metallica sound lol
