This is great tutorial Jason. I am looking for more like this as I am complete noob on my very first electric rock guitar and I really wish to learn. Would You also do some easy step by step covers of some popular and less popular songs - for beginners obviously. Regards.
Jason is the kind of dude I wish I had as guitar teacher. I'm 40 and I just started trying to learn guitar after listening to metal for the better part of my life. This video is super helpful.
Yeah I really try to put riffs that really anyone can practice or at least start with. I'm working on a course right now that goes deeper into these types of riffs.
Yeah, we learned to play in the harder way! 😄 I play bass guitar since 86, but lately I am trying to learn some songs on guitar too (most of them are from old Metallica's albums 🤘, just rhythms and arpeggios... Hammett's solos are too fast for me, apart from a couple more slow that I can do) and really I find useful videos like these and sites like Songsterr! Definetely, we should have had all of this back in the days of our youth (I am 50), but it is never too late! Thanks to Jason and to many others like him, who really are a huge help for those who wants to learn!😄 Greetings from Italy !
I love the fact that you showed us this in standard tuning. I always hated trying to learn songs and the first thing they said was Gotta tune down for this one!
Drop D is the easiest downtune since you only need downtune one string. Reason why most people who just started learning downtune will start with Drop D.
I'm a 60 year old drummer and been playing for over 40+ years and I was in a car wreck that took 70% use of my right arm due to nerve damage. That's what every musician fears, and I had to retire my drum career...after not playing for almost 8 years I realized my arm worked just enough and I could hold a pick, I bought a Jackson guitar and an amp and have been teaching myself to shred guitar. Your video is the best I think I can find. Thank you!
Brother, that is an extremely inspirational story you have and I'm glad you're picking up guitar! I do hate to hear you had to end your drum career but it's good to know you're pushing through, pivoting, and making things work! 🤘
@@jasonstallworth Thank you so much for your reply. Yes it has been a difficult road I've been on, but my passion and will power are the strongest things about me when it comes to my love of playing. Thank you again for your compliment~!
You’ve had 994 comments excluding mine and you’ve taken the time to address or like so many of them. I think this is one of the best qualities about you. I love the energy you bring into teaching guitar. New to playing the instrument myself, so glad I found your channel! Cheers Jason! ☺️
Thank you...although it's getting tough to respond to everyone these days as the channel is growing, but I will always do my best to at least acknowledge with a like!
Man, this is what I needed! I am a petite girl (5'0) that carries around a soft pink shell guitar. I am a beginner, but I love the shock on people's faces when I play a little metal riff! This will up my game to shock people. Thank you!
Kiki Wongo too. She's a friend of a friend from back in my Cali days and had the pleasure of jamming several times with her and some others and that's a girl that can shred with the best of 'em. I know she does some TikTok and Twitter stuff
As a 72 year old metal disciple and beginner guitarist, I think your video is the best metal tutor I’ve come across. So simply explained. I think all 6 techniques are great. I’ve tended to try playing 3 fretted string power chords, but I think the 2 note method is easier for me to master and gain speed, and the sound is still good. You’ve certainly inspired me to plug in my guitar and get riffing! Well done Jason.
My friend you are fucking amazing. 72 yo and start to play. You gave to me more inspiration and motivation. I have 49 and was thinking is to late. Thank you bro.
HEY MAN YOUR LESSONS ARE AWESOME BUT MY NEIGHBORS CALLED THE COPS ON ME. I GOT MY NEW ESP WITH THE HET SET AND GOT SO EXCITED LEARNING THE RIFFING PART I CRANKED THE GAIN AND WENT BIZERK IN MY BASEMENT AT ONE THIRTY IN THE MORNING. APPARENTLY THE NEIGHBORS DIDN'T SHARE MY ENTHUSIASM!🤘🤘🤘🤘
The cops in my neighborhood just come in the garage, sit down, headbang, wait for me to stop playing before asking me what Ive learned lately. Oh.. they ask me to turn it down a hair just as they're leaving. My cops are cool.
I've been playing for like 8 months, and that's actually the video I needed, not all these gammas, scales and shit like that, I needed something more simplistic.
Lol, thank you and glad this helped! Also, if you don’t have my free metal guitar practice guide that I give my subs, get it here: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
It's one of the best outlets we can have! And I hope this video helps. I actually have a blog post that goes into a bit more depth here: www.jasonstallworth.com/metal-guitar-for-beginners/
Hey Bro! We are about the same age. I'm 56. Army Veteran. Just found Jason and will be taking this journey wherever it leads. I feel the same way about the therapeutic aspect of learning and playing metal! I've been a metalhead ever since high school. Hadn't ever been able to play it till now. Stay strong Brother.
62 year old having a go at metal just bought my Jackson first Floyd Rose never played power chords before. Loved your lesson and enthusiasm. I am an intermediate open chord tab blues rock player. Thanks lots Mike from Australia
Jacksons are great!! And so glad to hear you're playing! I also have a beginner’s metal guitar course going over the basics here: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
I learned acoustic first because I was told playing electric would be easier once I got the fundamentals down. Now…it’s METAL TIME!!!! I’m practicing while standing (so different) and getting my triplets on. One string not so hard, two strings…I have my work cut out for me. Thank you for these videos-they rock!! Literally
When I was 15 I started (finally) listening to metal/hair metal. Took up guitar in my 20s and promptly gave it up because it became too much work and resources were not as reliable. I've always been a metalhead, but gravitated towards blues guitar once I finally started playing again. All that nonsense said, Jason Stallworth is my favorite metal teacher for learning metal, he speaks in understandable terms and thanks to that, I'm learning to play metal again. Kudos, Mr. Stallworth! You are incredible!
This is great man!!! I've been playing Metal guitar for 30 years now. Obviously the internet and RUclips didn't exist in 1991. I didn't have money for guitar lessons so I had to figure all of this out for myself basically by watching Head bangers ball on MTV. I had no one to show me palm muting or what a power cord was. I wish I had this lesson when I started. Great lesson!!! Any beginner watching this pay close attention to everything he's teaching. This is Gold!!!
I had a guitar for a couple of weeks when I was 16 in 1994 and one shitty book that could have been titled "Hot Cross Buns and Other Cringey Songs to Make You Hate Music," and no instruction, no internet, and not even fuckin cable at my dad's house, so I gave it to my brother (the firstborn Golden Child) who lived with our mom in the suburbs and he got lessons, now he's a capable hippie campfire player and I spent most of my life thinking the music gene skipped me, till I watched my own teenage daughter teach herself to be metal as fuck on bass and then guitar (yay internet). I'm old now but I just started learning from RUclips videos a couple months ago and I'm learning SO FAST and having so much fun. I'm an elementary teacher now. The public school music curriculum hasn't evolved past Hot Cross Buns, and most of the music teachers are Boomers, so it's no wonder Music is no kid's favorite class 😢. I wish I had time to show students how easy and fun music can be when you just skip past all that cringey baby crap and learn what you're interested in. But NOOOOOOOO...teachers have no time for anything but farming data. I'm loving videos like this one that make learning easy and fun
I’m about to get my first electric guitar for Christmas! I just started learning on an acoustic but my heart is definitely in heavy metal music. I can’t wait to try these out.
@@Citizen_JQP terrible haha. I have gotten a little better but some days are better than others. Some days I’ll go and kill it and record myself and it’s awesome. And other days I’ll play and get so frustrated that I won’t play for weeks at a time. There’s beginner guitar and I feel like even that is too advanced for me. I just want to be good but don’t have a lot of patience. I’ll keep trying though
@@SkeletonHandss try adding the pentatonic scale to your toolbox and jam on backing tracks makes practice fun and musical which helps with playing you're instrument
The best teacher I have ever found, and I have looked around a lot, I am a over the road trucker (30+ years) and I carry a les paul and a strat with me,and I don't have a lot of down time, but when I do, I always try to play. I am not any good but you have made playing more understandable for me and I really appreciate the help and I hope you make more videos! Thanks for your help.
Awesome and glad this helped! Also, if you don’t have my free metal guitar practice guide that I give my subs, get it here: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
I'm currently watching this as someone who does not play guitar BUT is wanting to make metal music using midi instruments and this video is helping me understand how I can get the sound I want!
That's awesome to hear and really glad this helps! If you're interested in playing, I do have a free practice guide that I give all of my subs here: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
for me the hardest one would probably be triplets and riffing, and i kind of like all the elements i just learned, and they're all pretty easy for me. As someone who can play the notes for Misirlou at a similar speed, alternate picking is pretty natural for me as well as tremolo, and downstrokes are like second nature.
Jason.. Brilliant man. Loved it. I'm nearly 70 years old. Played on and off all my life since 1967. Done Rock, blues, and classical guitar. I consider metal (done well) to be the next step for me. I'll still play classical guitar (love that) but metal I want to do too. I'm with you for guidance.. A big thanks to you. G...
Man, it's awesome to hear that you've been playing for so long. And it's cool to see your progression in styles...all of those styles are extremely cool! I don't know if you have my practice guide yet, but you can download it here (you'll also see that I have a metal rhythm course called Metal Riff Master, but I encourage you to go through the free practice guide first before considering that): www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
This tutorial is legit! He’s funny too at the same time which is make you smile and laugh and that makes you want to learn what he is teaching. Very good teacher !
I going to stay honest ..we are about same age, there was no internet back in mid late 80's... When I started teaching myself guitar! My buddy n school had a subscription to Guitar for the practicing musician, every month when it arrived by mail,he learned the tunes ( tablature) and passed along the issue to me,that's how we stayed up to date on new guitar s,gear, music lps,etc..well everything I played was down picking, was super fast, then alternate picking was shown to me? It's hard to break a bad habit 😂...wish we had internet back then,Folks today have no idea how good they got to be able to watch as there favorite riff/ song is being broken down!! 🤘
It's been 3 years since I lost the chance to play guitar, now I'm back in the game. Watching these videos before my guitar is delivered and I'm already feeling great about everything. All the techniques I used to play. Riffs are awesome and I believe they are the hardest techniques because they require other techniques to be applied along as well, and also there are many more possibilities of playing riffs than picking or palm muting techniques. So it would be a good investment if we put our time on learning more riffs.
Definitely helps to learn more riffs. I actually have a course called Metal Riff Master with over 80 new riffs (and they're not all in the same key): www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
Dude, I’m playing acoustic guitar since over 10 years, never thought about getting an electric guitar (despite being Viking metal fanatic). I grabbed an eguitar for the first time this weekend at a friends house and was instantly hooked. I wasn’t sure about buying one though but now since I saw this video I’ll just get after it and buy me a freaking eguitar. So awesome!
I've been "practicing" for three years, trying to stick to the book. Believe it or not this is the most I've played following you. I'm angry that I listened to the majority saying I had to learn chords and patterns. This is what I needed.
Now I am playing for two years, mastered a lot of techniques. I watched this video when I started playing guitar. It was inspiring me a lot. Now I came back to the roots because after watching thousands of videos I got lost. So coming back to the fundamentals I have to say THIS IS still one of the best videos I have ever seen about learning metal guitar. One thumb isn't enough 😁 Every technique for its self is not a big problem but I am still struggling with RIFFING (and creativity) - playing some tabs is nice but I want to learn how to improvise especially for metal. Is there a scale or a theoretical knowledge or do you just riffing, riffing, riffing like you said?
Thank you and man, it's great to hear how much this video has helped you. Yeah, everything goes back to these fundamentals. They're the foundation for rhythms and riffs. I do have a recent video where I take you through writing riffs, off the cuff, as if we were sitting down together in the studio: ruclips.net/video/KpYoeZI1sM4/видео.html
I've been playing for a bit, and while I can kind of easily get through these techniques - it's really great to find a straightforward and enjoyable instructor to watch. I do go back and watch basic methods like this occasionally to listen to advice and discover bad habits I've developed by playing on my own. I hope that didn't sound too pompous ass. I really like your style of instruction. Great video.😀👍
I like power chords because they sound cool and are easy to play. One (out of other things) that I have trouble with is trying to come up with a melody playing individual notes vertically in the fretboard. I can easily make a melody playing horizontally on one string, but trying to make a melody playing vertical on multiple strings I find it difficult 😅
Great video to learn from. Simple concepts, but they all form the basis of the music. Sometimes in our efforts to learn more, we forget that less is more.....Just master the basic concepts and you can go very, very far.
Thanks so much you are a great teacher I’ve been headbanger my whole life finally at 62 decided I’m going to learn well for about 2months I’ve been plowing along but tonite after this video I feel I made some real progress wow!!!
Dude, that is soooo encouraging to hear! And the fact that you've been a metalhead for so long will make things come together even easier for you! Really glad to hear my video helped!
I'm a bass player and I just picked up my first guitar. I wanted to learn metal, and started learning on it, bass definitely helped my knowledge. This video is such a help to me. Instantly subscribed. My guitar is a first act ME537. Definitely a beginner guitar, but good enough for me to learn on. Thanks so much! Edit: my guitar is also very used. It has wear all over it. Dents, scratches, etc. I also just got new strings on it
Hello Jason, Rod here. I've been into guitars for years. Unfortunately most of my life has been a busy mess. My father had a 335 Gibson guitar when I was younger. And I always tried to pick it up when I could, but dad was a possessive, you know what!! As I have gotten older, I have had a few guitars but I was also an over worked truck driver so the guitars just collected dust mostly. These years I am 45 but my work load has went down so I have picked the guitar back up. I bought knock off SG which actually turned out to be a half decent guitar. I was looking around RUclips and found your video. It's going a little slow but I really enjoy your videos. May even get your lessons. Thank you sir for making some really cool how to videos. Hope to be shredding up my fretboard some day soon.
Dude, I'm glad to hear your workload has slowed down. I left my corporate job a couple of years ago for similar reasons. It sounds like you have more time to dedicate to guitar these days, and it's never to late to go all in on it! Keep pushing yourself a little more each day!
What a great video, I'm 56 and always heave been a metalhead. I recently started taking guitar lessons. And in this video is exactly what I want to learn. Thanks Jason, greets from Holland. 🤘🏻
Looking to get myself a guitar and get started, always been a metalhead and always wanted to learn to play. Looking forward to it, and I'll definitely check out your other stuff.
Just started (and I mean JUST started, 2 weeks tops) learning on my dad's old acoustic, gonna try to make the move to electric at the start of '23 as metal is where my hearts always been. I know next to nothing on how to play but this video is encouraging, you break things down in a simple and easy to follow way. I've been playing drums around 8 or 9 years self taught, but when I decided to give guitar a go I was lost so I'm glad I stumbled across your channel. Keep doing what you're doing you earned another sub 🤘
That's crazy man...I started on my uncle's old acoustic (back 1989!). It's great to hear you're playing and thank you for the sub! Also, if you want to dive deeper, I released a beginner's metal guitar course available: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
Never judge a book by its cover. Thought this was gonna be a worthless watch but dude actually answered a lot of questions I had but didn't have the words to ask someone.

Hey I’m 51 yrs old, I been listen to metal since I’m 11-12 yrs old , Ride the lightning was my first album too. Anyway I tried playing guitar when I was young and I sucked, well I’m back at it again, your video is awesome. Thank you Brother

Picked guitar up 2 months ago you are awesome my first tune at 55 lol thanks for keeping it simple......been looking for ages for something I can relate too and enjoy 😊
My favorite thing you taught was riffing! Such a simple touch but makes it so much more interesting! The hardest one for me was power chords or down strokes because my fingers are super cold right now 🤣
Awesome to hear this helped! Also, if you don’t have it already, be sure to get my free practice guide that I give to all my subs here: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
Returning to this video to add that i bought the Metal apprentice course, best money i spent to date, awesome course, so well explained that even at my age (66) i can get it, loving it.
Wow, this video was great! I'm a massive metal head, but as I've been learning guitar, I always felt really intimidated by metal riffs and stuff, but this made it very accessible. Thank you!
Excellent beginner metal video. I specially like that you form the power cords with your index and Pinky flingers & play only the root & 5th. Key to excellent tone and speed. Thanks again for posting such a fine video.
This is the easiest and most genuine videos I've ever come across on RUclips trying to learn on electric. Keep doing what you do man your giving us positive hope in learning guitar seriously.
I'll be damned. All the videos I've watched and not one explained triplets and alternate picking as clearly and concisely as you did. Jason, you're amazing, and have earned another sub. Looking forward to more. Thanks :)
Yeah those gallops are tough but you’ll get them down!! I think you have this but if not, grab my free practice guide I give to my subs: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
First of all, your passion and enthusiasm for helping others learn to play metal is amazing. Also, the fact that you respond to all your comments is really quite admirable... like seriously. I did however wanted to clearify the difference between the galloping rhythm and triplets. Galloping is typically heard as an eighth note followed by two sixteenth notes. A prime example is Run To The Hills (basically the whole song past the intro) and several other Iron Maiden songs. Sometimes the term "reverse gallop" will be used to describe the opposite, two sixteenth notes followed by an eighth note. The second riff in Raining Blood utilizes this rhythm. Triplets are most commonly played by dividing a beat EVENLY into three notes. Lamb of God's Laid to Rest, Ruin, As The Palaces Burn, many others uses this rhythm. Each measure of music contains four groups of three notes, all played at a consistent pulse. Another example would be For Whom The Bell Tolls. In the chorus, the three palm muted open-E notes before each power chord are one group of eighth note triplets and the three power chords played under the lyrics "time marches" would be a group of quarter note triplets. Just a few suggestions for future videos: prepare your personal examples of techniques ahead of time so you don't run into the same problem that you did during you "riffing" section. Also, present examples of well-known songs like I did above.
Thank you. Yes, I realized early on that I used the wrong terminology (there have been a few other comments on that). I have an updated video here: ruclips.net/video/DRY6ZvdQ9qk/видео.html
I’ve been playing guitar for 6 months and I started playing metal a month ago, to be honest this video helped me a lot especially with the power chords. Thanks man!
Finally saved up and bought my first strat, ive had a hand me down acoustic for years and you have no idea how hyped this video has me for when that baby gets here tomorrow
You remind me of my cousin Mark that passed away two weeks ago. You are probably the best guitar teacher out there. Palm muting for me is the game-changer. They way you break down things without rambling on .....
I've been playing guitar (mostly acoustic) for 40 years. I still watch videos like this one for beginners because, hey you never know, maybe I missed something. I like metal so this was cool for me seeing these basic elements broken down into those things we typically hear in the genre. I've always played fifths as part of barre chords or power chords. Recently I've experimented with playing the fourth and the octave. Fifths are cool and powerful. But I'm learning that sometimes they're too much for a song. Fifths are better used sparingly in some songs and especially in other styles of music. Anyway, cool video. I'll definitely check out some of your other stuff.
I'm still working on moving power chords up and down the fretboard. Good for metal, hard rock, punk, grunge, etc. Everything else here will help in those too.
I have been playing guitar since it was invented. But seriously, I have wanted to do a project with this type of playing, and this video is really great.
This video is awesome. I've played acoustic, self taught, and worked my way into decent playing over almost a decade. I just got my first electric (Ibanez RGRT421) 2 days ago and am realizing that it's an entirely different animal. I'm mostly a metal head over any other genres and this video is exactly what I needed to see and learn. I'm not in a band and won't ever be; I just wanna rock the fk out. Thanks for the awesome content! Subbed ✔
Jason I just stumbled across you by accident recently but I’m lovin what I’ve seen so far. Thanks for making your skills available to us. Can’t wait to watch more.
So cool to hear this, Jimmie and glad this video helps! I also have a beginner’s metal guitar course if that’s something you’re interested in: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
I admit I searched for a long time to understand the technique of galloping, since a lot with Amon Amarth .. and there I come across you! Well explained, I just have to practice ... a lot and a lot and still a lot 😅 since I am a beginner and my baritone guitar only for 1 year. I also made the mistake of always picking down. I worked it hard, now it's ok but it's to a point that I do it without thinking when sometimes I have to, depending on the score, just do down picking, oddly it's a bit difficult that it takes me a while to think. If my English is not perfect, it's Google Translate to blame 🤷
Thank you for the comment, and your English is fine! For galloping, it helps to start very slow and allow yourself time to get the technique down. And I totally understand what you're saying...it does take a moment to shift your brain to do this!
I started practicing guitar 53 years ago. Started on acoustic Pop songs, soft rock, blue grass. Always loved hard rock but didn't play it. This is a great place to start. I have the rhythm of Steve Martin in the movie the "Jerk". Thanks for the lesson. I'll practice.
Thank you for this video. I get it , there are 25 year old shredders out there. I'm 62 years old and love metal also. This is of great, simplified help to me.
Due to the marvel of RUclips's algorithm, your channel showed up on my home page today, and I love it. It could have done it when you actually made the video, but hey, maybe that is asking a little much.. I watch so many channels and great guitarists who play other stuff, which my fingers simply refuse to do. But I try learning it so I can play what you are playing, and that looks a lot easier than running the circle of fifths on the minor pentatonic blues scale. So.. I am going to try this and see if I can play a few riffs, since honestly, that is my entire ambition. I want to make a little noise, not headline a band. Let me clarify that. I want to do what you are doing in this video. I am obviously not familiar with your entire library yet. :) Thanks for this one.
The one technique I definitely want to learn the most is the galloping technique. As I Lay Dying uses it all the time in their songs and it just sounds awesome. Especially with a fast drumbeat.
Thanks so much for your lesson, Jason. I'm definitely going to be looking up the rest of your tutorials. I'd already started (gradually) picking up power chords and palm muting but it's always good to keep going over the fundamentals. The section on riffing, especially mixing it with power chords, has helped me a huge deal.

I love the fact that you showed us this in standard tuning. I always hated trying to learn songs and the first thing they said was Gotta tune down for this one!
Yeah, that's annoying! I know many bands downtune but for general learning, standard tuning is the way to go!
You dont have to tune down to be heavy, thats the first real lesson in writing metal
@@striality great point
Drop D is the easiest downtune since you only need downtune one string. Reason why most people who just started learning downtune will start with Drop D.

Man, this is what I needed! I am a petite girl (5'0) that carries around a soft pink shell guitar. I am a beginner, but I love the shock on people's faces when I play a little metal riff! This will up my game to shock people. Thank you!
Awesome to hear that, and glad you're pursuing guitar!! Keep shocking the world!
You should check out Nita Strauss! She is soooooo beautiful and absolutely SHREDS the guitar. Metal Chics Rule!
Kiki Wongo too. She's a friend of a friend from back in my Cali days and had the pleasure of jamming several times with her and some others and that's a girl that can shred with the best of 'em. I know she does some TikTok and Twitter stuff
Metal girls, players and listeners, are the coolest. Shred on.
Shock 'em till they beg for mercy! 😈☠️👾
Roger, that's awesome to hear and always great to meet another metal disciple!
I thought I'm the oldest one who learn how to play metal. I'm at my 40s now.

Lol...yeah it’s kinda difficult to turn the neighbors on to loud metal...but keep trying! They’ll come around 😂
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 hell yeah , educate your neighbours 🤘🤘🤘🤘
The cops in my neighborhood just come in the garage, sit down, headbang, wait for me to stop playing before asking me what Ive learned lately. Oh.. they ask me to turn it down a hair just as they're leaving. My cops are cool.
Yeah it probably wasn't loud enough for them to hear how awesome it sounded ;b

Bro at 58 I am try to learn heavy metal guitar. This is also acts as therapy for my body being brutalize by the gym and 25 plus years in the military.

Literally
It’s Metal time 🤘
I like the way Jman keeps it simple and doesn't try to dazzle you with his genius.

Dude, thank you and glad to see you playing now! It's never too late!
Thank you, glad this helped, and yes, we greatly miss Headbanger's Ball when MTV was cool!
I'm really glad to hear that you started on acoustic!! I truly believe that helps you get better, faster!
Hey, curious. How's the progress going?
@@Citizen_JQP terrible haha. I have gotten a little better but some days are better than others. Some days I’ll go and kill it and record myself and it’s awesome. And other days I’ll play and get so frustrated that I won’t play for weeks at a time. There’s beginner guitar and I feel like even that is too advanced for me. I just want to be good but don’t have a lot of patience. I’ll keep trying though

love this video, I'm 58 now, played a bit (not great at all) like 35 years ago . This made me feel that "burn" again! Metal For Life!

for me the hardest one would probably be triplets and riffing, and i kind of like all the elements i just learned, and they're all pretty easy for me. As someone who can play the notes for Misirlou at a similar speed, alternate picking is pretty natural for me as well as tremolo, and downstrokes are like second nature.
I have a more focused lesson on gallops here that may help: ruclips.net/video/G0Iv3wpAbiE/видео.htmlsi=JGR4lmjIGgp9HyOd

A big thanks to you.

Dude, thank you for the kind words! I actually released an online course a few months ago, Metal Riff Master: www.jasonstallworth.com/courses/
Yeah man I didn’t start alternate picking until after a year and that seemed like the hardest thing to do at the time!!
There's a true example of a mentor. Thanks for sharing your talent and wisdom. The world needs more role models like you sir. Well done!
Thank you for the kind words🙏 🤘
Dude, I’m playing acoustic guitar since over 10 years, never thought about getting an electric guitar (despite being Viking metal fanatic). I grabbed an eguitar for the first time this weekend at a friends house and was instantly hooked. I wasn’t sure about buying one though but now since I saw this video I’ll just get after it and buy me a freaking eguitar. So awesome!
Yes, go get one! But don't ever stop playing acoustic either!!
Viking Metal! R.I.P. Quarthon...
Alternate picking is tough to learn after only playing downstrokes for so long.
Enjoyed the galloping.
Yeah it takes some getting used to! But you eventually nail it!
I'm 45, new to guitar, old school metal head, and Ozzy bless I found you, my master. Sincerely, your newest suscriber.
Dude, thank you for the sub! I'm 47 and heavy metal is just something that's part of who we are! Welcome to the channel!
I've been "practicing" for three years, trying to stick to the book. Believe it or not this is the most I've played following you. I'm angry that I listened to the majority saying I had to learn chords and patterns. This is what I needed.
Man it’s awesome to hear this and glad this helped!
Thank you, and what you're saying makes total sense! I've follow other advice as well and it didn't always work in my favor. So I know what you mean!
🤘
I like that you have ESP guitars.
I also have an ESP 7 string: ruclips.net/video/ORNzJtn1aQE/видео.html
Great video to learn from. Simple concepts, but they all form the basis of the music. Sometimes in our efforts to learn more, we forget that less is more.....Just master the basic concepts and you can go very, very far.
That’s a great point! 🤘

This is the best metal guitar tutorial on the entirety of RUclips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really sorry to hear about your cousin passing. And thank you, I appreciate that...it's awesome to know that my videos are helping folks!
It's always good to revisit the basics!🤘
Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate. Real human being shares things with others🤘🙏

Really well thought out video. You broke these techniques down very well. Keep up the good work

I closed my eyes while listening to this and yup Hulk Hogan just gave me some metal guitar lessons
Brandon L lol....good ole Hulk!
Hell yeah brother!!!
I was thinking he is a hybrid of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Phil Anselmo
I started practicing guitar 53 years ago. Started on acoustic Pop songs, soft rock, blue grass. Always loved hard rock but didn't play it. This is a great place to start. I have the rhythm of Steve Martin in the movie the "Jerk". Thanks for the lesson. I'll practice.
Love that movie!!!
Thank you for this video. I get it , there are 25 year old shredders out there. I'm 62 years old and love metal also. This is of great, simplified help to me.
Man, that’s so awesome to hear! Keep doing what you love…we’re metalheads for life!
Thank you for the kind words and really glad this helped. I do have albums you can check out here if you want: www.jasonstallworth.com/music/
The one technique I definitely want to learn the most is the galloping technique. As I Lay Dying uses it all the time in their songs and it just sounds awesome. Especially with a fast drumbeat.
Oh man, they have some cool riffs!!
Dude, so glad this helped! Also, be sure to get my free practice guide that I give to all my subs here: www.jasonstallworth.com/guitarist/
Thanks! Done!
I've been playing drums over 40 years and now at 57 I'm just starting to play guitar i just subscribed even though i was a drummer i was always drawn to big guitar Randy Rhoads,Blackmore,Dimebag,Zakk,Trower
Love all those guitarists!! I'm glad to hear you're picking up guitar, dude!
