    Some great tips in there Jamie.
    I spent hours in the 80’s just chugging, galloping and whatever the E, A and D open strings just to get that pick hand working. You get to work out your optimal pick angles, mutes, syncopations etc just doing one string. I spent hours doing that and beer in the left hand 😂
    9 to 46 down a half step for life here. I like Tortex flows 1 to 1.35 for the attack these days but was using Steel picks for years and spent the longest on the Jazztone 208. The OG Flow pick.

    Hey you said you like the Flow picks but it looks like you are using a Jazz XL. Which do you like better? I keep going back and forth between various Flows and various smaller jazz picks.

    Still trying to figure out downpicking. For nearly 3 years I’ve gotten so used to chugs with upstrokes and a weird pick grip that I’m trying my hardest to learn how to do downstrokes, given that it’s easier to play faster with downstrokes, well, for most people anyway.

      If you work on it well you can get alternate picking to sound just as powerful as down picking. My teacher can do it and i practically hear no difference. Its not THAT important

      @@jfo3000 It’s cuz I use a weird fkn pick grip. Frankly I’m sorta self taught and still learning some stuff here and there.

    What is the difference beside the tone?

    • @JamieSlays
      @JamieSlays  5 месяцев назад +1

      The changes are how much emphasis you put on your pick attack. The soft one was very gentle vs the hard one you can see in the wav files ? :)

      @@JamieSlays I totally get it now. I appreciate your patience. I prefer using small, hard jazz picks but I'm gonna try a larger pick now. Thanks much!

    This is exactly why I can't play HSS guitars...! The middle S is always in the way. 😅
    Too bad, because I found a really cool, good as new '80's Charvette HSS superstrat. But through playing it I found this setup isn't for me.
