what did you think?!
“Any guitar can sound good, you just have to BE good.” Love it, let’s get good.
It's not wrong. But cheap guitars can have
buzzing
cheap/horrible pickups
a rougher neck which makes sliding along hard(er).
Tuning/not staying in tune issues.
Don't allow for thicker strings (some music genres demands for them to sound good).
Etc.
That’s right, but for beginners higher quality guitars make learning a lot easier. Like you don’t need like a Gibson or shit, just get a Harley Benton but you need to set it up by a professional so learning is easy.
That tone takes me back 😂
Couldn't figure out if the box said "VISION" or "NOISIA". 🤣🤣
Wouldn’t it be neat if they made a guitar with an MPE midi pickup?
The shitty amp and the fact that it has a single singlecoil and not a humbucker is wild.
It's the 90's Norwegian Black Metal signature setup. \m/,
Haha yessssss I’ll cover some BM
Some places send guitars out of tune on purpose. My les Paul from peach guitars was like 2.5k but they slackened off the strings when sending it as it’s a les Paul and a set neck so when mr DPD brought it round there was no strong tension on the neck and zero issues or broken headstock. Anyone that moans it didn’t turn up tuned needs a slap… never really understood that obsession when you ultimately set it up and retune it instantly anyway… just my opinion so do have a bitch fit in the comments
Reseting guitars from their factory “setting” is one way to truely get close to your guitar. I love setting my guitars up.
There's definitely an abundance of good gear that doesn't cost you a fortune these days. I struggle to see the reason shipping a tiny amp like that with it tho. Just use a plug in or a modeller when starting out, saves money and gives you all the sound options you could wish for.
You should do the same thing with the cheapest recording set up (Pyle-esque mic, Temu no-name interface, free vsts, free DAW (not Reaper)).
Brilliant tbh
I could honestly see a whole album being made off this amp and guitar
I dont think i have seen one single coil before. I bet its amazing with that amp 😂
Thankfully the makers seem to have cut down on things like the amount of pickups rather than the smaller items that could make the guitar unplayable. When you include the practice amp (which I would expect to cost around £30 by itself leaving only about £70 for the guitar) this is quite impressive. When you consider that this is a guitar that could easily become a modding project after a beginner upgrades to their first 'good' guitar with upgrades ranging from simply upgrading that one pickup through to expanding to a full Strat style layout (I would be surprised to find that the body had not been routed for at least 3 single coils - it doesn't make sense to have a separate carving setup for guitars this cheap).
Any chance of a follow-up video on upgrading the pickup(s) etc on this as an example?
Now, put your signature on that guitar and give it to me for my wall 🤣
Hey man, my first guitar amp was a tiny Gorilla amp back in the early to mid 80's if I remember correctly that was about that size. Ive never owned a tuner in my 1st 34 of my 39 years of playing. I always just picked a songs note and tuned around that song on album, Cassette, CD, now hard drives where I store my music. haha! But the guitar I built when I was age 16 was much like the one you have there. 1 humbucket and stuck a thrasher sticker on the headstock. It was actually a great guitar and a guy bought it from me for $800 US in 1988. I wish I had kept it. It really played and sounded great.
Cool stuff!!
Nice touch with the mariachi music 😎🤘🇲🇽🇺🇲
Just goes to show what a great guitar player you really are seeing is believing for the price 👍®️
Great video, Jamie! This kit is actually not that bad at all, very impressive! Baroness gets some great metal tones out of single coils. Definitely worth checking them out
Oh yeh?! Thank you I’ll check them out
Great video Jamie! \,,/
You need to continue this series mate! 😅
Thank you! What would you like to see more of
🎸Did not expect it to shred that well!! 🎸
I forgot to subscribe but now I just did! Great videos I hope you duet with James Hatfield!
you're alright, Jamie
Thanks :)
0:18 Tell me that’s not the most casual Viking metal grunt ever.
😂 ruffff send me to battle
i love this, any chance of hearing something like this in a full mix setting? i'd be interested to hear how cheap instruments compared to normal ones
That’s a cool idea! I’m doing a few short form reels on Instagram etc. I’ll do some then !
Better than alot of stuff i had as a kid. Not that im old only 26 but my first was a plastic body red strat and i mean literally plastic no wood. And 3 crap single coils. Have no clue what it was but i loved if haha. Sounds pretty good aswell
🙌🏻🙌🏻
I ordered a Harlem x Electronic guitar from gear4music, & When it arrived the Locking nut & tremolo broke suddenly. I ordered Gotoh® Locking Nut & I love it. The neck was great My teacher’s college said.
Just buy a decent Ibby RG, job done for life
Man this brings back so many memories!!! 🤘😆🤘
Haha yeh! I feel so old
What is under the pickguard?
The fretboard is thicker than fender. At least the little dots are all in the wood instead of half only like the fenders.😅
🤘
I love the McRocklin! Would you be opposed to uploading some of your custom tones?
I would love to. I dunno where though. Message me on IG jamieslaysofficial
Shouldve got that Jim Root imposter strat that Harley Benton makes. I think Thoman sells them for $110. Thats not bad for a guitar with active pickups.
Sick innit. But they didn’t want me to make a video with it :)
@@JamieSlays ain't that a bitch. I wonder if they ever fixed that grounded out saddles or bridge for that active strat & V? They've definitely got potential for a mod project being that cheap.
Correct # of controls! Put a hot rails pickup in it? Innit?
Let’s do it
Ive played shows with a sears guitar. They weren't great but it happened. 😂
Upgrade it

Single pickup perfect for djent
Got my first "good" ESP Explorer EX 400 from ebay for 350€ 2nd hand. only 1 owner before me. so. i guess i had a lot of luck.
Looks like even Brits know Pantera rules!
10 watts? I've been playing couple of years now and still only have a three watt amp!
britney spears hairstyle
lol yeahhhhhh
One single coil. Cmon. Way too many inexpensive guitars within a pebbles throw of this price that will have much more features and quality. Did NOT sound incredible to ANY degree.
it screams for modding
Why does the guitar box say NOISIA?
😂 it says VISION
@@JamieSlays Noisia was a legendary drum & bass trio from the Netherlands who got their name from a piece of graphic design that said VISION which they read upside down, that’s the joke ;)
@@apoplexiamusic haha that’s sickkkkk
@@JamieSlays they’re also probably the first electronic music act to make people do the wall of death at their shows
Single coil pickup was a dumb choice and confusing for beginners.
Is it in tune? Fucks up a a G chord..
I can play a g chord lol 😂
Just get a Yamaha Pacifica
Ok :)
