some of the best Gibsons ever made are being made since 2019. However they do still sometimes miss on the QC as it's always been the case in the history of the brand, and some of their offerings are completely overpriced and/or not the faithful recreations they pretend to be, such as this one and the Hammett LPC. You just gotta choose wisely and avoid the marketing crap.
I don't like how all the checking is going left to right on the back. I don't like how all the micro scratches/buff marks are in a perfect circle pattern. Nothing about those things look like what you'd find on a true vintage guitar with natural aging and marks from playing.
A 1974 ES should have an incomplete centre block. My 74 335 has it. It stops after the neck pickup then continues after the bridge pickup. I presume the 355 would have been the same. Hope they got that right.
Trogly should bother reading the specs sheet of this guitar on Gibson’s website before knocking its accuracy. It states that BB King owned over 35 Walnut ES-355’s at this time. This new release is a tribute amalgamation of the features of all these various BB owned 355’s. I played this at a shop. It is one sweet guitar!
Regardless of its astronomical price, those 'errors' Gibson has made in this, their so-called "accurate replica", of BB King's favourite ARE unforgivable. Their choice of nut width maybe hold some justification... but the incorrect PUP specs, neck finish and that Nashville bridge COMPLETELY negate this guitar as a high-end/collectible re-issue. Anyone who has pre-purchased one should demand their money back. These will NEVER become valuable pieces and are, simply put, nothing more than overpriced 355s. Shame on you, Gibson. We see you. Kudos @Trog for pointing all this out. 👏👏 Facts matter. (Gibson, take note.)

I'm not in the market for a $10,000 guitar but things like the Nashville bridge and wider neck don't bother me if they make it a more usable and practical guitar to play and maintain.
All of their aged 335s look like someone took a Brillo pad to them. That's probably because that's what they did. I've never seen a real vintage guitar that looks like that.
So... $10K for a "reissue" of BB's famous 1974 ES355, that is only a version of that in name only. Really cool that the Murphy Lab makes such great copies. "Play genuine" indeed...
Hey Trogly, nice guitar way to expensive it's getting out of control how much they are charging for all these artists guitars when the market is flooded with Gibsons. Don't get me wrong I love Gibsons but, quality over Price needs to be better. See even you are complaining. Just sayin thanx Trogly take care.
I wonder if there's a chance that B.B. King's tech modded that guitar over the years he had, before the Lucille model came along? So Gibson just replicated that? Otherwise, yeah, Gibson messed up badly with the actual specs.
I'm still relatively new to the guitar nerd world stuff but from what I've seen so far I don't think there is any such guitar that Gibson or fender for that purpose who's reissued a previous (famous) model to the exact same details as original, whether it's weight, components, wiring, dimensions, materials, I've not yet seen a reissue true to old specs because of the manufacturing process, tooling is completely different, so buying reissues don't really stand true to what they selling you whoever branded it3
I'm not going nuts. The intro music IS DEFINITELY getting lower pitched ever week!!! @troglyguitarshow please shed some light on this! Am i losing my marbles!! 😂😂😂😂
If you are unhappy with the guitar, send it back and tell them why. The only reason companies get by with not doing it right is people keep the items and don't complain loud enough. Send it back and take money out of their pocket aka "do your talking with your wallet".
I bought a few reissue Les Pauls new...werent cheap! Both developed cracks in the binding along the neck at every fret. Sold em both. Not what the company once was....I like the old stuff. The new stuff ain't worth what they want for it!
That's a cheesy aging job. I have a 1994 Gibson that I bought new and have played for 30 years. Murphy lab aging looks nothing like actual use and gigging wear. The gold is worn on my pickup and bridge in an authentic way, the finish has the aged patina which they can not fake.
Ridiculous that the packers at Gibson could put the tiny Key envelope under the guitar strap in the case compartment. Instead they were loose scratching up the finish of the $10,000 dollar guitar. One of the freaking keys were inside the guitar in the F hole 😅 the other on the Vibrato mechanism. Some people are idiots way to go Gibson packers lol.
I was looking forward to you cleaning it up and making it shine. I'll never get relics. Replicating *one*, sure, but a run of N? Why? To have a replica of two other guy's same relics in Racine Wisconsin? (at least they'd be closer replicas) Sounded kinda lifeless, for 10k worth of guitar. No singing from it.
That's a very nice guitar. I'm rarely impressed by reissue's. That looks great even if it isn't close to the real deal. The King family probably requested variations to protect the original.
This is why people are not feeling Gibson, I keep telling my fellow guitar geeks. For the money you can't beat PRS, and if you give PRS $10,000.00 you get a guitar worth the price. QC isn't a problem with my PRS and pretty much none of the ones I have owned in the past.
Nice guitar w/ cool case candy, but not quite as accurate as I would've hoped. Cool to know the story of this guitar now though!

I'm sure you've explained this before... but - what's the difference between an ABR1 and Nashville bridge?

These 10-12k Gibsons and Fenders are absurd. Nothing in the materials or hours put into their builts justifies that price.
I wonder if there's a chance that B.B. King's tech modded that guitar over the years he had, before the Lucille model came along? So Gibson just replicated that?
Otherwise, yeah, Gibson messed up badly with the actual specs.
I'm still relatively new to the guitar nerd world stuff but from what I've seen so far I don't think there is any such guitar that Gibson or fender for that purpose who's reissued a previous (famous) model to the exact same details as original, whether it's weight, components, wiring, dimensions, materials, I've not yet seen a reissue true to old specs because of the manufacturing process, tooling is completely different, so buying reissues don't really stand true to what they selling you whoever branded it3
Nice 'focus' this week, I didn't want to like this, but what a great sound, I've no idea of details, that sounded badass!
"they should have did it" LoL
I'm not going nuts. The intro music IS DEFINITELY getting lower pitched ever week!!! @troglyguitarshow please shed some light on this! Am i losing my marbles!! 😂😂😂😂
Hocus Pocus on a BB King guitar, nice touch 😂
Good honest review.
The Link Wray stuff was perfect tones
If you are unhappy with the guitar, send it back and tell them why. The only reason companies get by with not doing it right is people keep the items and don't complain loud enough. Send it back and take money out of their pocket aka "do your talking with your wallet".
I could see this lack of attention to detail on a Gibson USA... but Custom Shop? That's a poor look.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
I bought a few reissue Les Pauls new...werent cheap! Both developed cracks in the binding along the neck at every fret. Sold em both. Not what the company once was....I like the old stuff. The new stuff ain't worth what they want for it!
It’s all good. There are lots of options in many price points.
Agree with you do a reissue right however tone wise it really covered some bases!🙏🤙
(at least they'd be closer replicas)
Sounded kinda lifeless, for 10k worth of guitar. No singing from it.
That's a very nice guitar. I'm rarely impressed by reissue's. That looks great even if it isn't close to the real deal. The King family probably requested variations to protect the original.
Hello from Alaska.
Greetings Steven

Hey.
Where about?
@@sgt.grinch3299
Saw B.B in Anchorage at The Performing Arts Center on his 75th birthday tour.
Alaska was appreciative,...
I quite assure you.
I agree with the choice to have the wider nut, but the rest is pretty bad.
Artificially aged guitars just make me sad.
Great video! Did you let Gibson know about all the mistakes?? I sure hope so.
This is why people are not feeling Gibson, I keep telling my fellow guitar geeks. For the money you can't beat PRS, and if you give PRS $10,000.00 you get a guitar worth the price. QC isn't a problem with my PRS and pretty much none of the ones I have owned in the past.
nice bit of Focus
Isn’t that an
Oxblood finish?
Huh?
Right…
🤣
Seems like Gibby's knockin' out 10k priced guitars at a dime a dozen...
Which amp wuzzit, BTW and thanx for the review... Cheerios
Way to play "Rumble" in the jungle
So after the wrong shape of burst on the Regal 335, now this... Oh Gibson...
I'd rather age it myself, Thanks.
Nice
