Do I have to turn it off at the breaker box, or can I just turn the furnace off at the off switch on the side of the cabinet? What's this about a "C" connection or the Nest won't work?
Will it control furnace blower ON/OFF? My humidifier is mist kind and requires heat and blower working together with humidifier. I moved into this house last June with the Nest installed already by the previous owner. The unit has been working fine until last night. The Internet has been disconnected. I checked the Nest and it indicated that the batter power is too low -- 3.716V. And I check the Equipment has this configuration: W1-Y1-G-Rc. I pulled out the Nest, and there is no C wire. One thing I don't understand. On the old wiring it says RC for the red wire on the right. Why do they connect the RH sticker to the RC cable?? Especially since there is a RH connection on the Nest.
A little explaining of the wires would help. You had a red wire with just R on it. But somehow you knew to label it RH not the other choice , so how does that work?
So what happens if you have a dual Heat Pump/ Oil furnace system that is automatically switched from one system to another based on the outside temperature. Can you still use the Nest for that setup?
What happened to the wiring guide? I selected my wires told I was compatible and when I installed it I got an error message saying I needed another wire
I went through it with a friend and he helped me make it work. I had to connect a C wire. In the end I added 2 wires to my wiring setup. But it functions. Personally as I'm not a fan of it. I just assumed it would be better than a regular programmable thermostat but it's not really the case. In my opinion the learning is a gimmick seems almost useless. Setup was overly complicated. Only a single person can have the app connected. Setting up a time schedule is 50x more complicated than it should be. After a couple of days I'd rate it 3 out of 5. If I had bought it at Costco or another store I visit regularly I would return it
I bought one of these, and the first month it was in place my bill soared from 450 dollars to more than 1250 dollars. I called, and they said, "that happens sometimes." They told me how to turn off the "smart" features of the thermostat, and I paid my insane electric bill. I later found out my kids were coming home from school and cranking the ac down in the heat of summer when nobody was home, so that's what it started doing. Can't blame the company for that, but oh my goodness was that a sad discovery. It doesn't seem to shut off reliably when the temperature is reached (it gets way chilly) as well. Can't say I recommend this product because now it's just a pretty thermostat. There needs to be a warning on the box.
Hello I have a ritetemp thermostat 8050 my wires are blue is C. RC & RH are jumped white is O. green is G but here’s the question the yellow wire is jumped from W & Y I did hook it up to Y is that right. The thermostat I tried had heat only It’s a Goodman heat pump. Wish I could post a picture of the wires.
My existing Honeywell thermostat is connected to the Central Heating pump only and controls that. When the temperature in our hall, where it's situated, drops then the thermostat detects that and turns on the pump and that fires up the boiler and hence the radiators get hot again. Simples! Why complicate matters so with a swanky device and anyway what it 'Fan' ? I don't have that.
I have tried installing my Google nest in 3 different homes now and it hasn't been compatible with ANY of them. What kind of system does is need to work!?
I installed mine perfect. Why does it pump out heat when I turn on the a.c.? I know I have the wires seated perfectly in the correct spots. I have the heat setting set for electrical for my central heating and air.
I have a water furnace Honeywell thermostat with A+ B- R and C . The google nest 3 gen has different labelling . Can you please let me know what wires will correspond to the same in Google nest
Looks like this only works on American homes that use air conditioning units? In Europe or the Netherlands we only have boiler systems, that go on when it's cold enough or off when there is no heat needed.
As I wait for delivery of my thermostat, it would have been helpful if the *.pdf and/or this video had the dimensions of the Nest thermostat stated so I would know if I needed to either spackle and paint the wall or get a faceplate to cover the old thermostat marks.
My system has 5 wires, but still no power available. Does it mean the c-wire is not connected to furnace correctly or is it something else? FYI, the software part of the thermostat is the hardest part to deal with. The ring control is not simple either. Does every person in the house have to install both apps and create an account so they can control the thermostat too?

@ 1:19 you can see that the native Red wire is connected to the "R" slot not "RC" ruclips.net/video/dHKD-9uI24I/видео.htmlm19s
My Ac has 27 volts instead of 24 volts can I install the google nest thermostat.
I selected my wires told I was compatible and when I installed it I got an error message saying I needed another wire
same
I went through it with a friend and he helped me make it work.
If I had bought it at Costco or another store I visit regularly I would return it
What about the the unit that attaches to the boiler? No mention of how easy it is to install that
I bought one of these, and the first month it was in place my bill soared from 450 dollars to more than 1250 dollars.
Set notifications. If temperature drops above or below where you want it, you'll get a notification
There is also a limit you can enter and a code required to override the range. Helpful for situations like this or for AirBnb's etc
Mine didn't blow cold after doing exactly this. Any suggestions.
A common line or should I say a fifth Line maybe needed. The line to be stripped & connected on both the nest and furnace well.
I have a old Honeywell thermostat will it work if I put in the Google
I installed mine perfect. Why does it pump out heat when I turn on the a.c.?
I know I have the wires seated perfectly in the correct spots. I have the heat setting set for electrical for my central heating and air.
Michael PaulRa You need to change your B/O setting
I have a water furnace Honeywell thermostat with A+ B- R and C . The google nest 3 gen has different labelling . Can you please let me know what wires will correspond to the same in Google nest
I'm having an issue where it keeps saying no usage under the history. Anyone else having this problem? And how did you fix it? Thanks
Did anyone notice that at 5:01 the Nest App only had a 1.5 star rating on the App store?
Do “THEY” control you heat and A/C settings????
Any know if this system still works manually if the wifi is down? Thanks
Looks like this only works on American homes that use air conditioning units? In Europe or the Netherlands we only have boiler systems, that go on when it's cold enough or off when there is no heat needed.
This does not require a common wire or access to the central furnace, correct?
On my thermostat it has Y and on the frame it has Y1 and Y2 so I don’t know what to do
As I wait for delivery of my thermostat, it would have been helpful if the *.pdf and/or this video had the dimensions of the Nest thermostat stated so I would know if I needed to either spackle and paint the wall or get a faceplate to cover the old thermostat marks.
found it: nest.com/thermostats/compare/
I have 5 wires, the last one being blue. Where does it go?
Liked subscribed and rang the bell. Love your videos!
can this be installed near hvac system?
My system has 5 wires, but still no power available. Does it mean the c-wire is not connected to furnace correctly or is it something else? FYI, the software part of the thermostat is the hardest part to deal with. The ring control is not simple either. Does every person in the house have to install both apps and create an account so they can control the thermostat too?
Sound like you had or having fun…. I’m wrkg on a heat pump someone installed this thermostat on!
They didn’t configure for heat pump system & didn’t have extra wire to strip heat hooked up either! I hate going behind people(tech’s & installers) that don’t finish or double check their work!! Good luck! Wish me luck too! Heading back soon with info gathered! The SENSI EMERSON THERMOSTAT WAS EASIER FOR ME TO INSTALL & eventually set up! I put 6 in a church! They all pop up on app! Easier to configure 👌👋🏼
You don’t need a C wire to power this thermostat?
do you need a four wire setup?
Surprised there's not a link to the compatibility page in the description. I know i can search but, it's the little things.
No necesita el cable C?
Here is a question, why doesnt NEST have control over HRV? These are mandatory on all newer homes over the past decade. Its one of the reasons why i cant use nest thermostat. Also, why must the system mode be on 'heat or cool' in order to just turn on the fan?
Can you use the Google home app to set up?
