The technique wasn’t completely lost. The essence of it was passed on to the Kyoshi Warriors. Suki does it in the Boiling Rock. She’s not a bender, but the way FC Yee describes the move in Rise of Kyoshi? He’s definitely got Suki’s athleticism in mind.
Also, it's nice to consider the possibility of nonbenders adapting bending techniques, like chi blocking or manipulation.
If you have a paper copy of shadow of kyoshi it comes with a deleted scene where kyoshi does what suki does because FC Yee said he wanted to connect the stepping techniques with suki at Boiling Rock! Im pretty sure he made a note that due to kyoshi's size this would be kinda unrealistic for her to do herself but he likes the idea that it was related to the mist/jet/dust stepping!
Wait when does she do that?
@@sephoraplays7591 During the Boiling Rock riot, Suki ran over the prisoners by using their heads as stepping stones. No bending is involved but the principles are the same, taking the next step as soon as her foot lands.
One thing that probably didn't help was that the Flying Opera Company simply did not have that many people who knew the technique. We don't know if they taught the technique to the other members or if it was a closely-guarded secret, but typically techniques are easier to lose or be forgotten when they are known to only a few people (think 10,000 vs 10 people). It's possible that attrition meant that there wasn't enough time to teach this skill before users died off.
Wow kyoshi literally is the superman of the avatar world
I guess Suki's Head stepping technique from the Boiling Rock is a latermark of Dust Stepping.
And above all I don't think Kyoshi wouldn't teach such an amazing technique to the "Kyoshi Warriors" nor even "The Dai Li".
Only we haven't seen it because by the time of ATLA , F. C. Yee haven't invited this technique 😂 and we haven't got any visible content like a comic / graphic novel or a series that contains above named groups which we can think only ones who know this technique up to the era of Korra.
What do you think ?
I’ve been thinking about this for years, and I can’t believe more benders don’t try either this or earth bracelets to fly
It's a lost technique because Dust, mist and jet stepping are reminiscent of Chinese WuXia martial arts. Given Bryke's ignorance of this genre in Chinese media it can be understood why it was later lost.
Ooo, tell me more. Is Wuxia a dead martial art?
@AntoineBandele It's more like a genre. It's basically martial arts romance movies/novels where the protagonist usually gets the girl at the end. A lot of them have a technique called air walking, which is akin to flying basically.
I think they call it qui gong?
I haven't read the kyoshi novels yet but maybe the technique was lost to time because of the association the technique had with bandits. This honestly peak my interest in the novel, it sounds interesting.I'm gonna check it out and see how I like it
Maybe it's because it's far too difficult to learn or master. It's like probably too complicated like lightning bending or needs a fair amount of focus and concentration. She might also be able to change her body compositions too by bending the matter in her bone and body. Who knows.
Can you please make a video about the members of every Team Avatar. Not just Aang's and Korra's but also other Avatars
> Why was stepping lost?
Because the writers didnt think about it at the time to put it in the main series.
They did, actually. Suki does a version of it in The Boiling Rock. She obviously can’t bend, but her lightfootedness is the basis for FC Yee making this move up.
@@andreponniah9900 So no, they still didn't. I think the creators never envisioned bending to be used like that (well, maybe air and firebending of course), but especially earthbending with its association with staying close to the ground. The author may have been inspired by Suki in that scene, but is still is a posterior and original creation by Yee... nothing indicates otherwise.
Water spout.Air spout.Jet Propulsion. Is better than jet stepping any way
Off topic but Kyoshi's team Avatar needs a name, Aang is "The Gaang" and Korra is "the Krew"
It just… doesn’t work 😞
they already have one. The Flying Opera Company

Water spout.Air spout.Jet Propulsion. Is better than jet stepping any way
Maybe the next avatar after Korra can learn the technique while trying to re-contact with his or her past lives.
I need to reread those novels coz I thought stepping was just gathering dust and creating a thin platform strong enough to carry weight for that split second
That’s exactly what it is.
@@AntoineBandele then where did pillars of earth come from? That’s the source of my confusion. Also can’t wait for your review of the latest Yangchen Novel
Probably no review for Yangchen. I just couldn’t get into her books.
wait how does suki do stepping if she's not a bender?
@@AntoineBandele
We need a vs series Zaheer vs Katara
Can you please continue the Series. "Which Lightsaber Form?".
I really want you to make a video on which lightsaber form Roronoa Zoro would have..
Unlikely. I only do Avatar now. So the request would have to be an Avatar character. And even then... unlikely.
I can think of a few reasons.
1. It Just wasn't thought of at the time of the shows.
2. Unless it's on the same level of unassisted flight, mobility isn't a problem for most benders because they can just fling themselves all over the battlefield. Now that I think about it, when jeong jeong was helping the white lotus during the comet, he was just floating with fire. I doubt there's a connection, but still thought it worth mentioning.
Yep.
How mist stepping supposed to work like it's mist a GAZ
They kept it to themselves?
If you watch Demon Slayer, I would love it if you did Which Lightsaber Form videos on its characters
Could the Avatars take on Darth Nihilius
I thought Azula was still doing this?
Fire jet propulsion is different from stepping.
Avatar Aang vs Vitiate
Mb the next generation will learn that ability like a rebel moving to get away in the big neon city
I know this question is suuuper late, but what happened to the Council Forcecast? Are they okay?
🤷🏾♂️
@@AntoineBandele Does that mean "none of your business" or "your guess is as good as mine." 😂
The latter.
@@AntoineBandele Oh wow, sorry to hear that. It seemed at the time that you guys were friends so I found it odd that you all suddenly stopped collaborating. BUt hey, as long as you're happy now that's all that matters.
I only interact with Matt and Callan.
Can you do Naruto vs avatar videos
Considering I don’t watch Naruto, I’m gonna say no 😂

Those skills are only used by Flying Opera Company members cuz they don't teach it to other people. That's why not many people knew how to do it
