i dont think so, as women being healers seems to be very, very woven into the water tribe society, and like antoine said, it had to have been a tradition during the lion turtles period because bending is "the great equalizer" as he put it. plus, why would they only let women heal when it was discovered by a MAN?
I think this is a great idea regardless if women are the main healers or not. Maybe sexism took over the water tribes. Not like once upon a time in the real world it was socially acceptable for men to provide and women to be more so of the caretakers. Just because a man possibly discovered it dosent mean anything

I have a theory that Avatar Salai is actually the earth avatar before Szeto. As we all know, there was a great plague in the FN during Szeto's era. What if the EK and the AN have the same plague too, but Salai only managed to heal the EK and AN before his death? That will make him famous in the EK and AN, but not in FN, so Szeto's mission is to heal FN and rebuild the bond between the FN with the AN and EK as FN grew jealous when Salai only help AN and EK
I love this. I'm watching this video because I just wrote some fan-fiction on an avatar far in the past. Avatar Havva is from a sand bending tribe in the Si Wong desert. Her people are based on the shepherds and desert nomads of the middle east in our world. I like the idea of meeting more avatars in the past before the cycle got reset.
Nope. Not specifically indicated in the book. The only two mentions in all the lore (to this date) are the two passages read in the video. Everything else is pure speculation and hearsay.
@@AntoineBandele I got into some research, besides Aang all the Air Nomads and Air Nation people and Guru name are tibetan, Hindu and sanskrit in nature. Salad is actually written that way so, the known exception was Aang so Salai is an Air Nomad Avatar Also you forgot about book 2.5 Chaos from the game. Hundun took on an earth avatar 1000 years ago. Going back, the avatar Hundun fought was most likely the Unnamed Male Earth Avatar before the unnamed female Fire Avatar. I went into detail on wiki too... Korra 153AG-present 171AG was when Hundun returned Aang 12BG -153AG Roku 82BG - 12BG Kyoshi 312BG - 82BG Kuruk 345BG - 312BG Thats 516 years between the birth of Kuruk to Korra at 171AG Assuming each Avatar was able to live a lifespan of 60 to 90 years we can count backwards with some leeway of untimely deaths and using statues and the avatar line up as reference Yangchen Szeto Unnamed Male Earth Avatar Unnamed Male Water Avatar Unnamed Male Air Avatar Unnamed Female Fire Avatar Unnamed Male Earth Avatar At max if they all lived up to the age of 90, then there is a time period of 540 years between the death of the Unnamed Earth Avatar to Yangchen own death. Given that there are untimely death and I guess a minimum lifespan of 60 or less, it could be around 360 year gap which mean if we count back another cycle the two black beard Earth Avatar would be the ones that fought Hundun. I would say Yangchen, Szeto and Unnamed Male Earth Avatar would have lived long lives unless the Unnamed Male Water and Air and Female Fire Avatar all died really prematurely it works out that Hundun would be active around the era of the Unnamed Earth Avatar either during his Youth, Prime or later years

YASSSSSSS I LOVE WHEN YOU POST!!! And thank you for theorizing other Avatars cuz no one else does this, I really liked this video! I think this sounds really cool. We need a couple episodes for every Avatar!
I have so much respect for you making a 6-minute 33-second video about a character mentioned only two times. Really good points though. I actually looked up Salai's name, too, the first time I read it to try to figure out what nation he could be from and I completely agree that the Earth Kingdom makes the most sense. Great detective work, especially regarding figuring out which possible Avatar he could be based on the image from Korra! Sokka would be proud. :)
I always figured Salai was just the one before Szeto. So I always saw him as the white beard guy standing next to him in that one pic. But your idea is really cool too. It’s weirdly fun to explore some of the seemingly mundane avatar stories. Like how Szeto was more a politician.
It'd be interesting if we ever got a novel on the other past avatars, Salai being one of them, and if that doctor/herbalist/plague idea ends up being canon, it'd be nice to see within the Avatar world, especially given the crisis we're in today y'know?
In my spare time I legit just make my own avatars lowkey I’ll just pick one of the images and create a whole backstory for them, it’s really fun y’all should try it out sometime. Also love this theory!
Here's a theory for you (not related to the video). If Yun from the Kyoshi novels could bend pigments from paintings as earthbending, could a skilled earthbender insert earth based pigments into your skin almost like a tattoo. This tattoo could be used in different ways. I'm thinking something akin to healing or possibly sealing a bender's bending. Possibly tracking. Just food for thought.
Videos like this one are the reason why I am so glad I discovered your channel. This is such an interesting concept, as fans we can only hope that the Avatar creators will continue enjoying the world they created enough to continue giving us comics, novels, etc. The AtLA algorithm is doing you justice, that’s how I found your channel. Keep up the great content, have a nice day!
I thought he was the Earth Kingdom Avatar before Szeto seeing as how he was recent enough to be as well known as Yangchen but I guess it was never specified
This theorizing is so great. Sakai should be air nomad according to the image of past avatars. He has hair and a beard, maybe shaving their head and adding the blue arrow tattoos all over the body is a development that started after Salai and before Yangchen?
You see in past air avatars they have their tattoos as well. Salai I’m pretty sure is confirmed to be an earth avatar. But I could be wrong about that.
Allebas Good catch. I just watched an episode with Wan and the early airbenders, and their almost-arrow tattoos and bald heads. If Salai is meant to be an earth kingdom subject, as his green garments might indicate, then there are two missing/miscounted avatars in the historical avatar scene. I hope that they retcon this image in a future release.
Ooh I would love to see an Indian inspired Avatar! Salai as a healer/ herbalist combating illness and plague is something I can get behind totally. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that a good plague can put the world into just as much chaos and suffering as a genocidal mad tyrant.
I thought this would have been a video that is taking facts out of nowhere but this is a very well done and thought of speculation. I think I will imagine Avatar salai this way until we get more info on him
Heyy, glad we agree. I'm starting to write a fanfic for Szeto and didn't want Salai to be the previous avatar for the soul purpose of what you explained
Very creative idea. Would be a great episode for the even more creative Anthology Series. But not every girl name Precious is... I do think it feels more likely that it is just the previous Earth Avatar and he is celebrated because people like their kingdom's avatar and there are probably people still living who remember his time. Or the culture in general looks back fondly at least. Like how we have more emotion towards WW2 than the Revolutionary War. It still feels at least a little revelevant to the curent living population.
Well going of that theory he could bin a healer avatar. We see water bending use for healing and that fire chi scanning thing in Kora. What to say there not some healing forms found in earth bending and air bending.
They should’ve delt with the Avatar series like this. 1. TLA - Avatar Aang 2. TLOK - Avatar Korra (New Cycle Avatar) 3. Avatar Salai series (Greatest Avatar) 4. Avatar Wan series (First Avatar)
5:21 it kind of reminds me of Szetso...from what we know about him he was not a focused comatant either and devoted much of his time as the avatar in advisory and restitutional rolls as he was responsible for The fire nation's rise to prosperity and did much to combat poverty and economic imbalance.
Hmmmm I wont jump to any conclusions but it seems the salai is a tiny seed planted that could make for an excellent tale! Something just popped up in my mind. If there was an avatar born in the foggy swamp, would that be part of the water cycle cause its a water tribe? Or the earth cycle cause its in the earth kingdom? What if an avatar born in republic city is actually a natural at energy bending first?
idk but im pretty sure for the foggy swamp tribe it they would be a water avatar, as the foggy swamp tribe was all waterbenders. and i dont think its possible to learn energybending first, as aang and korra both had to master the avatar state and 4 elements first
VV you’re probably right on both fronts, but If we consider the idea that the lion turtle in ATLA gave aang the ability to energy bend, than it could potentially now be a part of the avatar cycle. A cycle that would come after the next air avatar. Aang and korra only used energy bending at the very end mostly cause a lack of needing to use it in the first place, BUT in the future when the world of man and spirits intermingle further as does the technology of harnessing spirit power, pure energy within the environment will become more common! SO, I for one see a scenario. Where the whole world is looking around all the water tribes for the next avatar after the post korra water avatar keels over. But unbeknownst to anyone the new avatar is born amongst the technological and spiritually enriched hyper civilization that is the fore runner of the united republic and its capital city! They spend most of their life thinking they can’t bend anything at all, until some sort of advanced machine breaks down or some freak spirit energy flows out and they inadvertently use those powers to save the day like when those non benders became avatars! I dunno i think it might make for an interesting scenario to see energy bending be looked at in that sense of having to master it before other elements. Like maybe having to learn stuff from spirits or engineers about energy flow *shrugs*
You should make a video on guru pathik. Where he came from and how he’s so connected to the air nomads? Because that’s what I thought about when you said east India
RadioTSM {Operator Teddy Timis} he’s but that also doesn’t explain why the air avatar and water avatar are one element apart(the ones surrounding her) and this was before even Kyoshi, I doubt the four nations would have traded clothes even if she was from Yakoya where they where blue clothes she would still have to explain why she is in the middle of an air avatar and water avatar
Joshey Dubs sure but I doubt the creators and artists would do that, there’s a lot of foreshadowing in the show itself and it could be a further point of discussion

Well, I'm spending my quarantine writing, here I leave you what I've written thanks to your theory ;) Once again the skies were overcast with orange clouds that dropped a drizzle of sand down the mountain. For days the haze had dragged the sands from the Si Wong Desert to the snowy hills of Taku, presaging with its ominous color the misfortune that had occurred. Garnet hitched up her skirts to cross the creek. She carried her backpack and satchel, since she had to carry her tools plus her clothes and food; in addition, a little bag of herbs and potions that she needed too. Maidenhair fern to restore strength; lemon balm for nausea... With so many saddlebags, she lacked hands to guide the armadillo bear that her little brother was riding. "We're not going back to Taku, are we?" They had been fleeing for days, sleeping in barns and inns, in caves and shacks. For a few coins and a few balsams or oils to make soaps, the people who feared the Evergreen Death so much allowed them to sleep in their stables. The villages were all empty and the animals dead―or seized by the 34th Earth Queen's army. And Garnet knew that his brother Salai watched everything with hungry, dark, silky eyes, learning like a clever and agile fox, even though he was only eleven years old and did not know how valuable he was to the world. To the Earth Queen. And for her. His brother Salai was the Avatar, the still-too-young Avatar. And Garnet was the one that had to deal with it. "When we cross the Su Oku River and reach the monastery we will be safe," she told him. But Salai knew that no place was safe, so silently he clung to the little bag that hung around his neck, filled with the badgermole herb, and that his mother had hung on him as soon as he was born to help him scare away the dark spirits. Until a week ago, he had been happy. Now he didn't think he could ever forget how the Earth Queen's army had taken Taku―apparently―looking for him. Why for him? Because of how good he was at stitching up wounds? Because of how well he heated buckets of salt water to disinfect? Maybe because he was an earthbender and they were all succumbing to the Evergeen Death? Things were really much worse since the Earth Queen took over after the passing of her two nephews, the 33rd and the 32nd Earth Kings. Salai had asked his sister about all of that, but Garnet never answered him; she only urged him to wait until they reach the monastery. That night they spent the night in the stables of some grateful cowboys, covered by the warm breath of the moo-sows. "I'm sorry about your mother, Garnet," Salai told her sister. "And I'm sorry about yours," she replied grimly. It was stupid to stop and grieve for the dead: time was against them―especially against Garnet. With armies at the gates and disease within the walls of the entire Earth Kingdom, the young woman had to deliver her brother as soon as possible. She had to reveal to the world who the new Avatar was. LEGEND OF GARNET Set almost seven hundred years before Aang’s Era, during the Badgermoles War, the story focuses on the plight of Garnet of Taku (16) and her brother, young Avatar Salai (11), as they flee from the encroaching soldiers of the Earth Queen and the swarms of the ravenous course of one of the worst historical pandemics: the Evergreen Death.
Does anyone else really want a series for one of the first 10 avatars? I feel like a world not used to the existence of one and seeing the culture develop around it would be really interesting.
You provided a really awesome explanation, but I think that Salai is still the Earth Avatar before Szeto... but that's just because I want to keep progressively naming and unpeeling each Avatar 😂
I always assumed that the Air Temples would have more Indian influences considering it was the starting spot for Buddhism, being super close to Nepal, and partially influencing structures, clothing, and traditions. I guess Guru Pathik, being likely Earth Kingdom, did seem to have Indian influences, so I suppose this theory works. Also, interestingly enough, Salai means “little devil” in Italian, so that may link to his backstory, perhaps with a redemption arc.
In the 3rd episode of ATLA, when avatar shrines all over the world start lighting up when Aang goes avatar state at the temple, we see a mural in an earth temple, with an unnamed, but clearly revered Avatar at the centre. Perhaps this could've been Salai? Some personal theory: As the "4 nations" didn't exist until a few 1000 years ago (Guru Laghima lived about 3800 years ago, and is mentioned in the first Kyoshi novel as living "before the formation of the 4 nations"), Salai could perhaps have been instrumental in the formation of the Earth Kingdom, bringing peace between the divided earth nations. That would certainly be noteworthy enough to elevate them to such a revered status, and being mentioned centuries later in the Earth Kingdom as one of the greatest avatars.
You might wanna look into Manipur Salai as well. I don't know whether it may be related or not bt I dived into this video when I saw the word/name Salai
Just curious where you found that Salai means Tree or incense or whatever? What I found was that it meant road, which would make sense as an earth bender. I figure he's the earth bender before Szeto. I personally don't think it makes sense for them to name drop an avatar 7 cycles before Kyoshi without any context as to why he was a great avatar in his era. Frankly, being that they were mentioned with the same reverence as Yangchen, I'd say they had to be more recent, which tells me that it had to be the avatar before Szeto. Plus, it seems like avatars tend not to talk about past lives more than 4 cycles prior to theirs. They seem to stop at the previous avatar of their native element, like Aang and Yangchen or Korra and Kuruk.
Wouldn't it make sense for Avatar Salai to have just learned healing then? However, if there was a plague, I would imagine healing was not enough so he needed to find a different solution.
i would give anything for a series about a past avatar (not kyoshi as we have the novels and also not about adult aang since lok kind of wrapped that all up imo) maybe the female firenation avatar before szeto or even the avatar after wan i think would be interesting. leaving korra as the most recent avatar good enough for me, it shows a modern avatar's struggles, now lets go back in time.
Hmm. An avatar that could use accupuncture or accupressure (not necessarily with metal, but with a strong understanding of chakras [Get your chakras!]). Waterbending healing. Firebending life regulation. If they traveled the world sharing at least *some* of their knowledge with the corresponding benders, they could do a lot of good. They could also open up some of the world to thinking outside of the box, or like another bending discipline might. Why do I feel like Salai would be a female Avatar?

Either founded or learnt from herbalist culture of the City of Taku (Maybe the Herbalist Institute), northwestern Earth Kingdom.
Abilities:
• Waterbending- Healing & lower his body's temperature to slow down the process of death itself (Demonstrated by Atuat in Kyoshi Novels)
•Eathbending- Increase lifespan (as seen in Kyoshi novels)
• Firebending- Cleansing (as seen in LOK) & Increasing body temperature (Iron taught Zuko)
• Airbending- Maintaing body temperature & airbenders drinks like Onion-banana juice helped the process of cleansing chakras
• Chi reading like Guru Pathik
• Maybe chi blocking also like Ty lee (Acupuncture)
• Knowledge of all herbs (As demonstrated by herbalist from Taku in ALTA).
The rise of kyoshi novels have really put the avatar content creators focused on knowledge back into the limelight
Julz ThaStonedKid search up avatar comics by the amagi he’s got a video on the order you can read the comics in. Or search the comicstorian he’s got a avatar comic audio series going on he uploads a new episode every Thursday.
What if the avatar series uncovers the previous avatars making them mini series like avatar kyoshi novels? It's interesting to know before yeng-chin's legacy. Or just throw back little infos of other avatars we don't know of yet. It gives me interest to know about them seeing other artists making fanarts of how they look like.
Ivy Sabregz that would be an avatar anthology

So maybe have a series with multiple seasons, each one about a different Avatar. Like how Korra was supposed to be, a mini series, or basically just one season if LoK that would've ended there if Nickelodeon had stayed on this course.
@@thalmoragent9344 yup
This is why I love this show. You have a single frame of korra showing all the avatars. You have about 120-150 Avatars lives you can make a story around. I just find this amazing.

Could be the waterbender that discovered healing???
That was exactly what I was thinking thank you he could have done this big water healing thing in the Avatar state
i dont think so, as women being healers seems to be very, very woven into the water tribe society, and like antoine said, it had to have been a tradition during the lion turtles period because bending is "the great equalizer" as he put it. plus, why would they only let women heal when it was discovered by a MAN?
I think this is a great idea regardless if women are the main healers or not. Maybe sexism took over the water tribes. Not like once upon a time in the real world it was socially acceptable for men to provide and women to be more so of the caretakers. Just because a man possibly discovered it dosent mean anything
@@tohmastillstansloona1691 I might have missed it but was it clearly indicated that Salai was a man?

Man I’m really interested in the avatars before Szeto thanks for this Antoine hope we get more info about Avatar Salai
The fact Antoine can use a name and a handful of sentences to come up with a thesis and a potential history for a character is astounding.
In Avatar Szeto’s time there was reference of some sort of plague, so maybe the plague came back like the Black Death was from the 1300’s and it is still happening in smaller numbers today
@@saesaesaemi He wasn't in the comics (to my knowledge), he was discussed in the Shadow of Kyoshi novel.
@@saesaesaemi Avatar Szeto was born in 612 BG (equivalent to BCE and means “before air nomad genocide) and died in 500 BG. He was born into a time where the Fire Nation was an unstable country with a huge and dangerous plague everywhere being born on Ember Island. He saw kids around his age die all around his surroundings. To make this country a better place, he became a diplomat, bureaucrat, and accountant to Fire Lord Yosor, the fire lord at the time. He was the reason why the Fire nation was so advanced. He only focused on his nation and he discovered the subbending skill Lavabending.
Avatar salia is the predecessor of szeto
What about water tribe
I also think that Salai is the one before Szeto.
Don’t look at me. I’m finna write the fanfic now. Gimme a lil bit…
ooh! please let me know when you post something :D i would love to read it
I love this.
I thought he was the earth avatar before szeto
Nope. Not specifically indicated in the book. The only two mentions in all the lore (to this date) are the two passages read in the video. Everything else is pure speculation and hearsay.
Daniel Brewster same
Antoine Bandele oh ok thanks for clearing that up
@@AntoineBandele I got into some research, besides Aang all the Air Nomads and Air Nation people and Guru name are tibetan, Hindu and sanskrit in nature. Salad is actually written that way so, the known exception was Aang so Salai is an Air Nomad Avatar
Also you forgot about book 2.5 Chaos from the game. Hundun took on an earth avatar 1000 years ago.
Going back, the avatar Hundun fought was most likely the Unnamed Male Earth Avatar before the unnamed female Fire Avatar.
I went into detail on wiki too...
Korra 153AG-present 171AG was when Hundun returned
Aang 12BG -153AG
Roku 82BG - 12BG
Kyoshi 312BG - 82BG
Kuruk 345BG - 312BG
Thats 516 years between the birth of Kuruk to Korra at 171AG
Assuming each Avatar was able to live a lifespan of 60 to 90 years we can count backwards with some leeway of untimely deaths and using statues and the avatar line up as reference
Yangchen
Szeto
Unnamed Male Earth Avatar
Unnamed Male Water Avatar
Unnamed Male Air Avatar
Unnamed Female Fire Avatar
Unnamed Male Earth Avatar
At max if they all lived up to the age of 90, then there is a time period of 540 years between the death of the Unnamed Earth Avatar to Yangchen own death.

Awesome video again Antoine! I really hope the franchise expands more officially
Avatar Szeto was a bureaucrat and diplomat
And diplomats deal with world affairs and relationship with other world leaders and nations
Care to share some of them?
I have been watching for about 2 months and I love your content
Here's a theory for you (not related to the video). If Yun from the Kyoshi novels could bend pigments from paintings as earthbending, could a skilled earthbender insert earth based pigments into your skin almost like a tattoo. This tattoo could be used in different ways. I'm thinking something akin to healing or possibly sealing a bender's bending. Possibly tracking. Just food for thought.
Given what ghazan did with the mercury to korra I wouldn’t rule it out!
My dad is the Avatar cuz when I needed him most, he vanished 💀💀💀

What if Salai was a Water Tribe Avatar that discovered the healing capabilities of Water bending? Or maybe the all cure water from ATLA?
Awesome vid man! I'm hoping to get the Kyoshi novels by the end of next month!! Can't wait to start reading it
Incredible analysis bro. Especially with the plague
Videos like this one are the reason why I am so glad I discovered your channel. This is such an interesting concept, as fans we can only hope that the Avatar creators will continue enjoying the world they created enough to continue giving us comics, novels, etc.

Alright bro just work for nickelodeon already 😂
That’s what I’m saying 🤣
There is a new past avatar revealed in the Dawn of Yangchen’s excerpt his name is Avatar Gun
Wow nice timing I just finished Shadow of Kyoshi
I thought he was the Earth Kingdom Avatar before Szeto seeing as how he was recent enough to be as well known as Yangchen but I guess it was never specified
Could definitely be. I just didn’t peg gray beard because he looked to militant. But it could be that he got into medicine BECAUSE of war.
But I could be wrong about that.
as cool as that would be, we already see air benders with tattoos in the wan flash backs.
Salai is standing right next to szeto. Trust me 3:23
Ooh I would love to see an Indian inspired Avatar!
Salai as a healer/ herbalist combating illness and plague is something I can get behind totally.
If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that a good plague can put the world into just as much chaos and suffering as a genocidal mad tyrant.
Especially when I feel Indian representation is a tad lacking outside of Guru Pathik and Aiwei.
This was a great breakdown!!!!!!!! your dope AF!
I wish there was a series abt the past avatars
Love the video 😄 keep up the good work ☺️
I always thought of a cool avatar idea. An avatar that can bend every element plus all of he sub elements
I thought this would have been a video that is taking facts out of nowhere but this is a very well done and thought of speculation. I think I will imagine Avatar salai this way until we get more info on him
They have dozens of avatars they could make a show about. Also the common theory is the grey beard dude is Salai. The predecessor of Szeto
3:23. You are absolutely right!
Heyy, glad we agree. I'm starting to write a fanfic for Szeto and didn't want Salai to be the previous avatar for the soul purpose of what you explained
When Antione said that Salai could have been the one who made the medicine for a plague, I was like "He fought the corona virus of the Avatar world"
@UCpmvMvDJ5a_FLDHmBrM5BSg Fine, he fought the Bubonic plague then
Very creative idea.
Good detective work. You strung together a six minute video based off a couple sentences!
Whoa these are great points ur making! Love ur channel❤️ Be water!😆
Well going of that theory he could bin a healer avatar. We see water bending use for healing and that fire chi scanning thing in Kora. What to say there not some healing forms found in earth bending and air bending.
Earthbenders have a technique to increase lifespan. Antoine made a video on that too.
Tbh I thought it was the same name as Callum's mom in TDP until I realized it was one letter off 😔

@@GreaterGrievobeast55 ok, please go write a fanfic and notify me when done 😌✋
VV oh wow! Perhaps I will If I can actually figure out a proper storyline pfft.
You should make a video on guru pathik. Where he came from and how he’s so connected to the air nomads? Because that’s what I thought about when you said east India
Since Salai is mentioned with Yangchen he could be the Air Avatar before Yangchen. Everything you said about medicine would still hold up.
An anthology series would be very cool. Especially if they tackle new avatars. I’d love to see different takes and moods from other avatars.
Now this in canon I don't care what other people say, maybe instead of learning to fight he uses the elements to heal, So Wholesome!!!!
I honestly love your videos
i can’t believe that no one has talked about the fact that there are two water tribe avatars right next to each other
Yo maybe the earth, fire, and air avatars between them all died young or premature because of war, plaque or just natural causes
@@yukthahareesh1107 that seems reasonable
RadioTSM {Operator Teddy Timis} he’s but that also doesn’t explain why the air avatar and water avatar are one element apart(the ones surrounding her) and this was before even Kyoshi, I doubt the four nations would have traded clothes even if she was from Yakoya where they where blue clothes she would still have to explain why she is in the middle of an air avatar and water avatar
I decided to just chalk it up to an animation error and a lack of care for the Avatar's behind Yangchen.
Joshey Dubs sure but I doubt the creators and artists would do that, there’s a lot of foreshadowing in the show itself and it could be a further point of discussion

Well, I'm spending my quarantine writing, here I leave you what I've written thanks to your theory ;)
Once again the skies were overcast with orange clouds that dropped a drizzle of sand down the mountain.
"We're not going back to Taku, are we?"
They had been fleeing for days, sleeping in barns and inns, in caves and shacks.
LEGEND OF GARNET
Set almost seven hundred years before Aang’s Era, during the Badgermoles War, the story focuses on the plight of Garnet of Taku (16) and her brother, young Avatar Salai (11), as they flee from the encroaching soldiers of the Earth Queen and the swarms of the ravenous course of one of the worst historical pandemics: the Evergreen Death.

Amazing video, I had to subscribe.
Also, interestingly enough, Salai means “little devil” in Italian, so that may link to his backstory, perhaps with a redemption arc.
outside the topic, but do you think that the spirit's possession will return after the LOK?
Please do a video on the different styles of bowing in the four nations
i feel like salai is mentioned so much in part due to being an earth nation avatar and its earth nation residents thinking of them
In the 3rd episode of ATLA, when avatar shrines all over the world start lighting up when Aang goes avatar state at the temple, we see a mural in an earth temple, with an unnamed, but clearly revered Avatar at the centre.
You inspire me to write this.
