My theory is that it's actually a live action adaptation of the Ember Island play. That's why all the characters seem pretty irredeemable and not true to the characters they're based on. It's Fire Nation propaganda. The bending seems so comical because the actors are nonbenders.
The portrayal of Iroh is garbage too. He doesn’t even look like Iroh and the actor playing Iroh sounds like he’s mocking how the original actor portrays Iroh.
Problems with the characters: Aang isn't cocky-ish and playful. Sokka is super serious and isn't goofy and funny. Katara isn't independent and always needs to be saved. And Zuko is always yelling at Iroh and doesn't show any sort of love or respect to him AT ALL. He was a bit disrespectful in the cartoon but he at least showed some respect and love to Iroh in the cartoon, and tried to reason with Iroh.
nice comment 👍 but with all due respect no hard feelings on this it's iroh with an H it might sound like Iro when said cuz the H sound is nearly unnoticeable
“Aang had trouble water bending” it’s like they saw the characters and made their own story arc. There’s that whole episode where katara gets mad cuz he water bended so well, but I guess they never watched it.
don't also forget there is literally an explanation of which bending is hardest for each avatar... its their natural opposite lol. Air benders have a hard time with earth , fire with water so on and so forth.
That's sadly not even in the top 20 crimes they committed. I personally think that the worst thing was the bending in general, it was simply a disgrace, they ruined the main thing of the series smh
They have bows in the show. So one good archer can defeat any bender within a seconds. Not to mention Mai's trowing knives or even Sokka's bumerang :') Aaa it is so stupid 😩
xVibez all the characters are too serious, the show is light hearted many of the characters in the show are goofy and have fun. This shit sucked they were all just so serious
@@lol-mm3pg yeah and they couldn't try to make a better sequel because of very little support and money to work with. They tried to make it a little less childish for it to hit all age ranges. No one supported the movie and that's really sad to me if I were a true fan of something I would support it through and through. But people these days are as loyal as they are clean to me. Sorry. No offense.
In conclusion: They messed up each character, ignored every detail, ruined multiple scenes, got multiple races messed up, and destroyed lots of fighting scenes.
Aang: "I don't even smile in that movie!" Sokka and Katara: "Smile? They got our race wrong! Zuko:" They got my race wrong too and I don't even have a scar!" Toph:" You guys are in the movie?"
Hey… so I have some bad news for you… aang’s name is pronounced right…. Technically his name is from Chinese and well that is how you pronounce it so….. BUT THE MOVIE STILL SUCKS SO
*“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when M. Night Shyamalan attacked.”*
Yeah, did you see how they said it? "Water, Earth, Fire, Air Nomads." REEEEEEEEEEEE SAY THE ENTIRE THING FOR ALL OR JUST DO WATER EARTH FIRE AIR IF YOU"RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT "Water. Earth. Fire. Air." "Water Tribes. Earth Kingdom. Fire Nation. Air Nomads."
ElectricityShock Y’know, This is a quote from the actual show, so I thought it would be fun to do this. And I don’t actually care if you think it’s too long. You can hush and keep scrolling if you’d like. It’s only a youtube comment.
In regards to race, this is how I see it- Water tribe: Inuit, Siberian, Native American, Polynesian (overall Inuit) Air nomads: Tibetan, Indian, Chinese (overall Tibetan) Earth kingdom: Manchu, Korean, Chinese, middle eastern bc of sandbenders, and Japanese bc of kyoshi (overall Chinese) Fire nation: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, meso American bc of the sun warriors and I believe there was in more tribe but I forgot (overall Japanese) None of these are white or European!
YES!!! The thing that upset me the most about this film was the white washing. All the villains were people of color while the heroes were white. The water tribes should definitely be indigenous, the fact that Katara and Sokka were white bothered me to no end. And what was up with movie Sokka’s hair??! 🤦🏼♀️
The Ember Island Players did a much better job than the movie, don't do them dirty like this. A good parody is always better than failing to capture the essence of the characters at all.
Katara in the movie: “Aang was having trouble mastering water” Aang in the series literally made Katara so jealous of how quickly he got the hang of water bending in the water bending scroll episode like LMAO!
Yeah I was gonna say water was literally the one element besides air that aang was a natural at. He had trouble learning both earth and fire but he picked up water bending so fast that it pissed katara off lmao
Even Sokka points it out that it was one of her defining characteristics XDD. Remember he said "Me having no boomerang is like Aang without his arrows on his head, and like Momo without his ears and like katara without her....hair loopies!"
@@carolinedisalvatore9768 If we let this stain go unnoticed, then history will repeat itself my friend. Would you like for another movie like this to be created?
It’s annoying how katara narrates that Aang was struggling to bend water when it was an important scene to see Aang be more advanced than her in water bending and to see her jealous😠
I think a lot of that narrating what because they tried to put an entire season into an 1hr and 43 mins. had they broken the season into 2 or better yet 3 films, they wouldnt have needed so much narrating. I think that was the movies #1 problem. it was too compacted.
@@wolf9walker I also think that it would have been better if they split the 1st season into more than one film. That way they would have had more time to do more stuff from the show, right after they get the characters and their name pronunciations right.
I don't like how aang was so serious in the movie, his character loves games and is humorous in the show. That humor gives his character the air bender mindset of being able to see a different way to approach a situation, something that is built upon in his duel with the firelord
"Something was wrong, Aang found it difficult to waterbend" Meanwhile in the cartoon, Aang be like: "Look Katara, I can create an entire tidal wave. Want me to show you how to do it too??" When did Aang actually have trouble Waterbending? Katara was jealous that he was better at it than she was at the time
One concept totally disregarded in the film was that, the Avatar would have trouble mastering the element opposite to their native element. In Aang's case it was Earth. In Roku's case it was Water. Such a crucial detail, disregarded like it was nothing.
@@NobleGamer0117 actually, it's not always their foreign element, as Korra from LOK was a waterbender, struggled severely with master airbending, despite being a native waterbender. It's purely based on specifically personality, so since Korra had a hot headed personality almost like a native firebender, the element she struggled with was air. Aang has a more positive out look on life, and overall is a more pacifist guy for the most part, unless the situation calls for otherwise of course, and thus firebending was a struggle for him.
@@francinelipschutz6139 I agree with your rhetoric regarding bending difficulties with your personality's polar opposite, but you're wrong regarding Aang's personal bending opposite. It's explicitly stated in the series that Aang's struggle was with Earthbending. When initially learning Earthbending, Aang literally couldn't move earth... AT ALL. His nature as an air nomad meant he was constantly fleeting, both physically and mentally. This went directly against the nature of earth as grounded and headstrong (Aang - pacifist/lightfooted, vs. Toph - confrontational/headstrong). Regarding fire - Aang didn't struggle to bend fire. He actually picked it up rather easily when handed a smoldering leaf. What Aang struggled with was the fact that, moments later, he hurt a friend by being careless instead of following the disciplined approach that Jeong Jeong was attempting to teach. Later, Aang's timidity with the Eternal Flame of the Sun Warriors was a direct result of the internal conflict brewing as a result of hurting Katara... not because he struggled to bend fire. He was afraid of losing control again, and thus refused to feed his flame as he had earlier in the series. Once he learned the true nature of Firebending from the masters, his internal conflict resolved, and he spouted flames like a pro with relative ease.
Francine Sketch Yeah I wouldn’t use LOK as an example. That series disregarded several lore elements for the story of the show. I mean Korra is show bending THREE ELEMENTS with ease when she was a CHILD. Really the ONLY reason she wasn’t able to master Air was to make her an ironic new protagonist. See in the original Aang was an Airbender and knew that first and in this one she knows every element EXCEPT Airbending, see the writers are VERY clever, plus it justifies them calling the season “Air” which beings the Elemental naming of the three seasons “Water”, “Earth” and “Fire” full circle. Especially since Aand needed to master those elements in those specific seasons and Korra needed to do the same here. Also logically speaking if she had more efficiency with Firebending than logically she should have more problems with WATER BENDING and not Air Bending since that is what Fire contrasts most with.
I just realized that! God damn it! They make it seem like creating fire is something special in this movie, and it's just so stupid. Firebenders don't even make fire from their chi, they use the heat around them mixed with proper breath control to generate flames. There's a philosophy to it that isn't even inferred in the movie.
You should be proud to call yourself a film student. You did an amazing job diving deep into the characters and using movie knowledge for the series and the movie that disrespected the amazing series. You should be very proud.
the worst part of this whole movie was SOKKA WAS SERIOUS the entire movie. he wasnt cracking bad jokes and making stupid decisions!!! sokka was my favorite character in the show and they couldn't even get him right!!!
OMG YESSS!!! Sokka was my absolute favorite character, not just because he was unbelievably cute, but because he has dimension, a personality, his character changed over time, and they made him cocky, yet somehow in a good way, and he changed and he showed his inner feelings. Not to mention how he barely ever used the exuse, my mom died, or my fathers missing, he would just go out and find his father. The way his character was built is so unbelievably diverse and amazing. I also love azula and her gang and suki, they are such queens, toph is a baddie, anng is babyyy, Momo and appa are adorable, zukos character has so many dimensions and amazing traits that I can’t explain, and even tho we didn’t see yue for that long, she was such a lighthearted and amazing character, she was brave and she was a perfect match for sokka, (I like sokka and suki together also) they way all these characters are built are just so amazing. And katara..... I guess her mom died idk it’s all she talks about (joking)
His body was *supposed* to add to his character (not that the film cares lol). He looks like a big, jolly old man so people (the audience and characters) underestimate him and his abilities, when really he is an extremely powerful bender with unrivaled wisdom.
Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, The comics, The fandom. Long ago the four media and series lives in harmony, but that all changed when the live action remake attacked
My biggest complain about the movie is Uncle Iroh doesn’t look like a short fat calm wise tea loving old man but like a angry grumpy dude they did my uncle too dirty
The fact that the Sokka in the movie does not use his Boomerang as much is insulting. Sokkas boomerang is a third of his personality, the other 2 thirds being sarcasm and his love of meat.
Sokka NEEDS his boomerang! THERE IS LITERALY A EPISODE WHERE HE'S CRYING WHEN THEY LEFT HIS BOOMERANG BEHIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Random guy: "Have a nice day ponytail guy." Sokka: "I used to be boomerang guy. . . "
when this movie came out my family and I planned a movie day. my parents got us our favorite snacks and we all sat down in the living room to watch it, we were so excited because we all watched the show together multiple times and it was a huge bonding moment for us. Almost as soon as the movie started, we turned it off. As soon as they said aang wrong my dad said “no” and turned it off.
The Gate Guard guess not cause I don’t realy see how this is a joke is it because the show the say in the episode was realy realy off and dumb if so then yeah I understand
@Paulo Lopes are you out of your mind? We really don't need to have created even a decent movie to see how much of a joke this movie is... The producers messed up HARD. I could create a slide show better that this crap😂😂😂
@Paulo Lopes no no and no some of us are unable to make a movie due to money problems or such but we sure as hell are still able to provide hate towards this movie for being such a crapfest
@@kazuya5788 Top in the show depending on her hearing to be so powerful. And I think it's her unique feature. It would be awfully awful if they made her deaf instead of blind.
I saw on an Avatar fan page that he was planning to make it so Toph had the ability to see. And they were gonna name her "Tooph". 😑 Right there. 2 sentences of his plan for her and he already destroyed the character. Let's be glad he didn't get close to the sequels.
Another mistake: the narration when katara says that aang was having trouble with his water bending was wrong because he actually mastered the forms better than katara
Well you see if they did show that they would also have to show katara getting jealous. That would've given her character and they can't have that in this movie
Another weird thing is that Aang struggled with Water-bending at first which is weird because that element’s personality resembles Air’s personality the closest. In the series Aang struggled with Earth the most because it was opposite to his personality.
Why are all the skin tones off? Literally a majority of the fire nation is white while the water tribes have brown skin. ALSO Iroh is a fat, chubby, cute, old man, not a middle aged buff man.
lily's film reel and the whole show has Asian cultures mixed in so everyone should be East Asian except for the watertribe which could be Native American.
Last time I babysat my nine year old Potterhead cousin, I decided to introduce him to ATLA and he became a fan after just the first two episodes and I told him not to watch the live action movie explaining that it was “The Cursed Child of ATLA” and he understood immediately. 😂😂😂 EDIT: Wow! Thanks for all the likes! 😂
another important part of the first scene talked about (in my opinion) is that Zuko not only agrees to Aangs terms, but actually follows through. something fairly uncommon for the fire nation, ESPECIALLY Zuko's own family. its immediately foreshadowing that he never really lost his honor, and that he's more honorable than most of the fire nation, making him the perfect choice for next fire lord. also sets the tone that Zukos character really does only care about getting his honor back, not feeding into the war or abusing power. the live adaptation twists that into a person who has no issue threatening to hurt innocent people in a very Azula fashion, and also doesnt care to enforce his end of the deal by not reprimanding the soldier that attacked. both characters suffered for it.
This is more retarded than korra struggling with air bending While Korra struggling with air bending is dumb because she's a water bender and the opposite of water is fire, it was in the show and never changed Aang never struggled with water bending since the opposite of air is earth also in the original show he made katara jealous I
Giorno Giovanna in the legend of korra they said that the element that‘s opposite to your PERSONALITY is hardest to learn for them. which is why for aang it was earth and for korra it was air
Auditi saleh No it can be both. Think about it, aang couldnt earthbend because it doesnt aline with his own personality. Earthbending has to do with roughness and brute strength while air is calm and evasive. Korra was very aggressive, excited and always ready which definitely alines with fire but not air as she isn’t the calm and avoiding type.
Akhil Singh Khyalia the avatar movie on Pandora (NOT this ATROCITY) was great and the original show was also great, but the dump NEEDS TO DIE IN A HOLE (says someone who’s GLAD she never saw the whole thing 🤮)
And the ozai reveal.i.literaly miss it every time cause they revealed ozai too early and he just looks like a chump not the intimidating man that haunted Zukos childhood and wrecks havic on the four nations.
They disrespected Sokka, no one disrespects Sokka. My boy was lifeless, no sarcasm, too serious, They had no mood maker. I get it was supposed to be an action based film, but to make it accurate to the show and enjoyable they shouldn’t have added so many high tensions scenes. It made me cringe at them because some were completely unnecessary and uncomfortable. I would love to have written the plot line
Sokka getting stripped of his personality was the last (and first) straw. He actually being like Sokka was the only thing that could've mildly saved the movie.
Shyamalaian toph: serious oldest in the cast wears fucking big thick velma glasses can see better than the rest of the cast even without said glasses needs a 4 hour dance sequence to lift 1/4th of a half-inch pebble wears anything but her original color scheme has shoes all the time (with soles) is weak and fragile likely is dumb and has comic relief idiot humor in place of her wit, nicknames, and blind girl jokes

i actually feel very sorry for the actors, i mean imagine being them and thinking you'll make so many people happy with your represantation of their favourite characters and become a succesful actor but instead your movie receives so much hate and gets heavily criticised even 10 years later. that must suck :(
Noah Ringer must have felt this way when the movie came out. He's an experienced martial artist, and was a huge fan of the show. He had a very strong relationship with his sensei, as he recommended the show to Ringer and convinced him to audition for the movie. Strangely, he was able to get the role when he sent in a video of him dressed as Aang doing martial arts instead of property auditioning. He was very inexperienced with acting, as he was told to attend acting classes a month before filming, but he was passionate about the movie and wanted to bring Aang to life on the big screen. It must've been hard for him when audiences and critics said that he was a terrible actor and was culturally appropriating the world of Avatar by playing an asain character (supposedly) when he was white. He wasn't as abused as Jake Lloyd was back when the phantom menace came out, but I have no doubt that his dreams were shattered and he was forced to avoid the public eye for the rest of his life.
If I was aang, I would literally quit the second I heard that name! Of course, I don’t know what an actor gets paid but, movie flame is right! The series is one of my most watched shows, and the movie in comparison looks like something a kindly one would throw up!
Yeh, like why are all the fire benders not how they were in the show? The water benders are somewhat accurate, air was pretty ok but what was earth and fire about?? I won't assume ethnicities but seriously? They strayed so far from the source material I've given up on any live action anime movies or shows
The waterbenders are Inuit (brown), the earthbenders are (mostly) Chinese, the fire nation is Japanese, and the air nomads are Tibetan (light skin), They fucked everything up
The crazy thing is that if they'd showed us Zuko's desperation when Aang escapes the ship, him saying "for a moment..." and letting it trail off could have been really powerful. Dev Patel actually delivered that line pretty well.
ATLA series: Has characters from a range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities, with inspiration from China, Japan, Tibet, Inuit, and many more. TLA movie: I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see that. They are white, white, white, and Indian.
Can we also talk about how they comepletley DESTROYED Ozais Threatlevel? in the Show they made the Firelord sound like this unstopabale allknowing Monster, never seen but always a threat. in the Movie, he is just casually walking around and is just a normal dude

Yeah, i mean his acting wasn't that good but man people should give him a break. He was about 10 years old when he was cast as Aang, he was still under parents supervision, he's not ready to face the criticism he got on the internet whether it's hate or a normal dislike. It's the main reason why i can't even criticize his performance simply because he was way too young to handle such film criticisms like this
@@800Ms-k6n Not wanting to disrespect actors from any movie is why I never criticize performances, and when i do I often make it extremely clear I don’t have anything against the actors (Unless they’re a bad person)
@@TooningIn2008 the thing is I can criticize a performance but in the case of a child performance, it's hard to do it knowing that the actor is a kid and is not old enough to handle such criticism like this. I don't want that to happen with the kid who played Aang too because for the most part, this movie is not his fault
I remember watching this in theaters at age 9, and then when the credits came , as everyone was leaving the theatre I hear a guy shout out loud, "THIS MOVIE SUUUUUUUUUUCKS!"
Also worth noting: Aang never had trouble with Waterbending. In fact, he excelled at it from the moment he first tried it. Did Shyamalan even WATCH the original show?
Don't watch it trust me you won't like, I couldn't make it to 15 minutes of the movie so believe me it is extremely terrible like I mean very very very horrible
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is more than a series-it's a journey I've taken multiple times, discovering the enchantment of bending and the essence of friendship in each episode. With every rewatch, I uncover new layers in characters, relationships, and their intricate world. From Aang's self-discovery to Zuko's redemption, I've shared their laughter, tears, and victories. Sokka's wit is a constant joy, and the reunion of Appa and Momo with Aang is a heartwarming moment. The show's perfect blend of humor, action, and heartfelt scenes is truly remarkable. "Avatar" isn't just a show; it's woven into my story, a reminder of balance, resilience, and the power of change. It's not a mere three-time watch; it's an adventure I'll eagerly embark on again and again.
Wait, Aang in the movie is having trouble with water? (Sorry, never watch that monstrosity) How? A part of his character is gentleness and as smooth as water. Out of the four elements aside for Air, water is the easiest one he could learn. This is one of the thing that fascinates me as a child. Air is free and flexible, just like Aang, he's the personified of Air. Water is gentle and smooth, another of Aang's trait, this is why he could learn water-bending so easily that he made Katara jealous. Meanwhile, Earth is hard and stubborn, not Aang's personality which is why only when he was forced he could bend it. Fire is hot and ever-changing, the easiest way to tame it is with your emotion, burning and fiery, Zuko even asked Aang to roar like a beast in one scene when trying to teach him fire-bending. As much as I dislike Korra, they still kept this essence. The only reason Korra could bend three elements in her toddler age is because her personality allows her to make a connection with Fire and Earth. Stubborn, hot, hard, and fiery. She was lucky she was born a water-bender or else she would have a very hard time to learn it, the same way she needed a long time to get the essence of Air (And even then, it was gained through force means, just like how Aang was pressed to be able to bend Earth).
Also, I like the fact that while Aang is "having trouble" waterbending while making arm motions over normal flowing water, it pans over to Katara, *making arm motions over normal flowing water*
Also, in the "test" that Zuko and Iroh gave him when they captured him, he moved the rock just by looking at it. In the series, made apparent in season 2, Earth was the element that Aang had the most trouble controlling.
THEY DIDNT HAVE MOMO (well they did but he was barely mentioned), THE KYOSHI WARIORS, NOT EVEN BUMIIIIIII, not even cabbage man 😢, they didn't have that epic scene where admiral choi threw the guy overboard, they didn't have roku well the had a DRAGON that was supposed to be roku but tf?
@Weeaboo Trash no they aren't Airbenders are cambodian. His name is Aang a nod to Angkor in Cambodia which also was the inspiration to the air temples.
That was like my brother's favorite scene in the whole series. I was very disappointed with the whole movie but especially that "MY CABBAGES" was not included
Not even just "not as funny." He's not funny AT ALL, even though it was literally his defining trait in the first book. Sokka in book one (or at least the beginning of book one) is a sarcastic, quick-witted, comic relief-ish character that never stays down for long, and that was what made him likable. Movie Sokka had absolutely none of those traits at any point in the movie, and it pissed me off so bad! I saw this movie in theaters and it was so disappointing, I have never been so bored in a theater in my life, and I've loved the show since it was airing on TV.
My baby sister saw the last air bender on Nickelodeon once and she said “that movie was cool I liked it!” My brother and I froze then looked at her. My brother: “are you kidding? It’s trash!” My sister: “no it’s not!” Me: “hold up! This horrendous travesty must be fixed! We do NOT speak of that movie in this house!” So I went upstairs and brought down the Avatar series and made her watch it. Now all is right with the world and she hates the Last Airbender movie too.
*How I'd Fix The Last Airbender:* *Things I'd Keep:* 1. *The set and costume design:* The set and costumes are actually very nicely recreated from the show, with quite a bit of attention to detail. And I like how the tattoos on Aang are more detailed, and look like actual tattoos. 2. *Seychelle Gabriel and Noah Ringer as Yue and Aang:* Hear me out. I'm not saying Ringer gave a great performance as Aang. He didn't. But, to be fair, not that many people in The Last Airbender movie gave a great performance, and so it's hard to blame him for his performace. I mostly blame M Night Shyamalan for it, and, probably with a better director, which I'll get to later, he might actually give off a better performace. As for Seychelle Gabriel as Yue, she's honeslty the only one who was perfectly cast, and she gave a decent performace as the character (Just don't make her hair look like someone's dingaling.) 3. *ILM doing the special effects:* While the special effects can be pretty hit or miss at times, they have done some effects for great movies like Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, and they even fully animated another movie for Nickelodeon, known as Rango, so they can stay around, if they actually manage the budget better than they did. 4. *The start of the movie:* The way they did the elements' introduction was actually a spot-on recreation from the show. Nothing else to say here. 5. *The music:* James Newton Howard's original score for the movie is amazing, and it actually shows a lot of personality and emotion missing from the entire movie, and they do different themes for each of the four nations. A trumphant and uplifting theme for the Earth Kingdom, an emotional and whimsical theme for the Water Tribe, a terrifying military march for the Fire Nation, and a calm theme for the Air Nomads, shame it had to be in a terrible movie. *Things I Would Change:* 1. *The rest of the casting:* Aside from Aang and Yue, almost none of the movie characters even remotely look like their TV show counterparts. This isn't like a book where you can at least argue it's up to your interpretation. There is a canon character design in the show, and these actors don't even come close to matching them. Even Dev Patel and Shaun Toub as Zuko and Iroh respectively, while they are genuinely the best actors in the movie, and show some genuine emotion in some scenes, even they don't even resemble their TV show counterparts in appearance. This revolves around all of the characters in the Water Tribe, say for a few extras, being played by white actors, for non-white characters. And they also made the villains darkskinned, which BTW, is extremely problematic because it implies that white people are inheriantly good, and non-white people aren't, which many times throughout history, has been proven to not be true. If I were to fix this, because I don't think the studio would have time for recasting, I would just simply make the main Fire Nation actors play the role of Water Tribe characters, meaning that Dev Patel and Summer Bashil, instead of being Zuko and Azula, are now Sokka and Katara, and Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz are now Zuko and Azula. While it isn't perfect, it's still nowhere near as bad as how it was done in reality, and I do think Dev Patel would be great as Sokka, since he is great at doing comedy, and knows when to get serious in some situations, as shown in Slumdog Millionaire. 2. *Don't make M Night Shyamalan the director:* While he has directed some critically acclaimed movies, he just isn't the guy for directing a big budget fantasy movie like this one, he's better for more realistic movies, and horror movies. Instead, it should be more similar to Stuart Little, where he's just a screenwriter and nothing but that. And he should also have someone editting it so it doesn't have as much exposition, someone like, Steve Kloves or someone. As for the Director and Executive Producer, that one's actually pretty easy. Peter Jackson and Steven Spielburg respectively. Not only have they worked with Nickelodeon on their Tintin movie, but they worked on several movies that are pretty similar to Avatar, such as Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Hook, etc. And they can also do action much better than Shyamalan can, as shown in those movies. Even their bad movies had something entertaining about some of them, unlike The Last Airbender movie. 3. *Cut out Katara's narrations outside of the prologue:* Katara's narrations don't add anything to the movie, they just distract from the characters and the story, as little as there is. And it's clear that it's because many scenes were cut from the movie, because it was intended to be three hours long, but, similar to Thomas and the Magic Railroad, it was cut down to one and a half hours, and it really shows with some of the scenes being rushed with exposition. So instead, outside of the prologue, the narration is completely removed, with no traces whatsoever. 4. *Make the movie three hours long:* The main problem with the movie is it tries to condence 400 hours of television into a 90 minute movie, which is only about 23% of the story that can be told effectively in a different medium. Now, while making it three hours would still leave out 55% of the series, there is a way to do it, while cutting out some of the less important episodes, and trying to cram in as much story as possible. For instance, The King of Omashu, The Great Divide, The Fortuneteller, Bato of the Water Tribe, and The Deserter should be cut, as, even though there are important characters introduced, a lot of them don't affect the story that much, and you can just have Aang mention to Zuko that he's had friends like Bumi and Jeong Jeong as well as Kuzon (Who I theorize to be Azulon's younger brother.) from before he hid in the iceburg, and two of them were from the Fire Nation. While also making the Jet episode and The Blue Spirit intertwined in order to make the pacing work better for a movie, also, make sure the episodes at ARE adapted well made, and not make some questionable changes, like a Concentration Camp for Earthbenders covered in stones and dirt, which Aang rightfully pointed out to them, and have it instead be made of metal which they're unable to bend, and they have to use coal fueling the camp to start a prisonbreak, more like the show it was based on. 5. *Pronounce the names like they did in the show:* Changing them was so stupid, and they honestly should've kept them as they were, instead of pronouncing Aang as Ong, Sokka as Soaka, Agni Kai as Agni Kee, Iroh as Eroh, and Avatar as Ovatar, and also be consistant about it. Because the movie is very inconsitant about how Avatar is pronounced. If there are different pronunciations, it should just be explained by a difference in accents or something.
> The way they did the elements' introduction was actually a spot-on recreation from the show. No. In the show the elements are showed off over actual Chinese, the consistent in universe language, instead of literally meaningless scribbles.
For condensing the story. The best idea could’ve been rewriting the sub plots to be connected to the story. Avatar was not a show that relied on big story arc like most anime do. The shows format was seriously unadaptable for a movie because it’s usually a new journey each episode till they reach where they need to be. However, if Nick wanted to make a movie out of Avatar, then they should tried to make it more like Lord of the Rings and it could have made a better movie version of Avatar. However, Nickelodeon Movies wanting something 3 hours is not realistic, but it could be somewhere like 2 hours and 30 minutes like Harry Potter 1, however it could’ve been filmed with 3 hours worth of footage.
Bruh, the scene where there’s like 6 guys “Earth Bending” and all they did was throw a little ass rock flying at like 2 miles per hour 😂😂😂 Hilariously stupid.
If you watch that scene a little bit more carefully, you'll realize the 6 dudes waving their hands around didn't actually bend anything, the one who actually threw that rock was the guy shown after who actually shot the rock at the fire nation soldier
@Ovidiu-Darius Voita well....in the movie firebenders need a source, and it's really special for him to be able to ..do that.........the fact they need a source is quite interesting but...eh....

When did Aang actually have trouble Waterbending? Katara was jealous that he was better at it than she was at the time
Exactly! I made that point too in my comment!
Funny that the firebenders can only use existing fire, but Iroh tells Zuko to use his chi, and the latter suddenly melts the ice with his hands 😂
I just realized that! God damn it!
They make it seem like creating fire is something special in this movie, and it's just so stupid. Firebenders don't even make fire from their chi, they use the heat around them mixed with proper breath control to generate flames. There's a philosophy to it that isn't even inferred in the movie.

Last time I babysat my nine year old Potterhead cousin, I decided to introduce him to ATLA and he became a fan after just the first two episodes and I told him not to watch the live action movie explaining that it was “The Cursed Child of ATLA” and he understood immediately. 😂😂😂
EDIT: Wow! Thanks for all the likes! 😂
Michaela Bauer this was the most truest fact. Great comparison
No...the cursed child didnt make me want to literally commit sepuku without a spotter.
This child seems to be in good hands.... Carry on
YES🤣
I've just seen 'the cursed child' and it was actually really good! Besides the sorting hat lol
another important part of the first scene talked about (in my opinion) is that Zuko not only agrees to Aangs terms, but actually follows through. something fairly uncommon for the fire nation, ESPECIALLY Zuko's own family.
its immediately foreshadowing that he never really lost his honor, and that he's more honorable than most of the fire nation, making him the perfect choice for next fire lord. also sets the tone that Zukos character really does only care about getting his honor back, not feeding into the war or abusing power.
the live adaptation twists that into a person who has no issue threatening to hurt innocent people in a very Azula fashion, and also doesnt care to enforce his end of the deal by not reprimanding the soldier that attacked. both characters suffered for it.
For real! The live action version really messed Zuko up
Zuko doesn’t even have his pony tail
His WOLF tail (No harm intended, just a reference to avatar)

The biggest thing is, Aang *DIDN’T* have trouble with waterbending. It was earthbending that was hard for him!
They needed excuse to safe cgi cgi was terrible but still
This is more retarded than korra struggling with air bending
While Korra struggling with air bending is dumb because she's a water bender and the opposite of water is fire, it was in the show and never changed
Aang never struggled with water bending since the opposite of air is earth also in the original show he made katara jealous
I
Giorno Giovanna in the legend of korra they said that the element that‘s opposite to your PERSONALITY is hardest to learn for them. which is why for aang it was earth and for korra it was air
lemon but in ATLA Katara said it was his NATURAL OPPOSITE. Like how Fire is the natural opposite of water, the opposite of air is earth.

Ye we should stop with the hate
well it is a bad movie

@@zaynab-to-a exactlyyy like wtf was that

*How I'd Fix The Last Airbender:*
*Things I'd Keep:*
As for Seychelle Gabriel as Yue, she's honeslty the only one who was perfectly cast, and she gave a decent performace as the character (Just don't make her hair look like someone's dingaling.)
*Things I Would Change:*
So much work in this comment but I disagree with everything you would keep. The only thing I would keep is probably the budget.
This all sounds so much better than what we got.
Earth benders in movie: 1,000,000 men to move a rock
Toph: Moves a mountain
A f*cking mountain.
I love toph man
And she’s blind 😂
Kyoshi watching this: you’re kidding right
@Zephorah Stewart-Pelasio it's hard to see.
Bob Dole I hated this scene. Been saying Toph can do better than this
@Ovidiu-Darius Voita well....in the movie firebenders need a source, and it's really special for him to be able to ..do that.........the fact they need a source is quite interesting but...eh....
show's still better.
No wonder why they are afraid to fight back 🙄🙄
Percy Jackson fans:upset about the movies
Us Avatar fans: sobbing in a corner
no we also sobbed in a corner
@@natalyn1700 im a fan of both, and both of them is worthy of a bit corner sobbing
When you’re a fan of both and sob about both of them
@@abbysoto7643 You know one of the things I'm most ashamed of? The fact that our teacher had us watch a Percy Jackson movie and that was before I read the books. When I read the books I was like, "Well this is SO much better!" Always read the book before you watch the movie kids
