Katara's actress knows all the lore
She‘s a die hard fan, so kudos to her for playing a character and knowing the whole story of Avatar
Kiawentiio (sorry if I didn't write it well) knows more of the expanded lore of ATLA than a lot of writers of the show.
Well, but that doesn't mean the live action is bad. I actually watched the show twice already since I liked it a lot.
But man, there are some scenes where we have tons of dialogues explaining stuff.
Also, I did rewatch some episodes of the original Nick cartoon, and it also has scenes of people talking and explaining things. But it doesn't feel like they don't fit, in comparison to the netflix adaptation.

@@joseabreu-nn5cu in the cartoon, Katara is not really a parental figure, she's just less clumsy that the others and more "mature", so she acts like that, but tecnically she has the same age of Aang. Sokka is not the parental figure of the group in the live action , he's simply more serious than he is in the cartoon.

Yea but that was an improvised Korra cannon that was written in, Aangs actor was actually right!!! Monks like Tibetan monks shave their heads for completely different reasons then combat.
@@andrewcrovella8610Even so, the canon reason that LOK gave perfectly ties in given the setting of the world of Avatar. The air nomads may be based off tibetan monks but they also have arrow tattoos and bend air, which are things tibetan monks don't do in real life. So it makes sense their reasoning for being bald would be different

This is what we need in the actual show. The actors clearly have great comedic and emotional chemistry, but that hasn't shone through as much as I would like.
Yes I mean let it have comedy feel. Yes sure have serious moments but never suppose be that serious but then again they have director is one made dark version of Sabrina.
@Kt-cn2rq no show is perfect but after the mess of the Avatar movie a few years ago this series is much better than I expected.

@@AmyA-bg1bs no it didnt, gyatso canon killed elit firebenders, like in the og. Theres 15 elite firebenders dead around him and super decomposed more than gyatso. Atla is good but korra is also a good sequel, open ur heart and mind to it. Only characterisation i hate is of toph becoming a cop because it doesnt fit her lore and character, but eventually when she got older she went back to her og but kuvira redemprion arc was horrible cuz shes literally earth sozin although that point was cuz it was a tv trend to anti hero-fy villains and to reference zuko but done w/o the actual redemption.

Katara and Aang have more expression in these interviews than their characters do on screen. This tells me the writers for the script and such held us back and that these are in fact the right people for the role

For example, another commenter said that Lizzy is Azula coded, meaning that the actor really embodies the traits of Azula herself.

Just to add, it's an internet slang, which yes essentially means "on brand"/ embodies and/or shares traits usually attributed to a character/person/thing and is predominantly used by gen z. Dallas Liu was easily my favorite part of that show, Zuko is one of my favorite characters in fiction.
He really embodied the character, both physically and emotionally, definitely one of the best parts of the show.

LOL, but seriously, when you have that strong of a bond, so much more can grow. People forget family is more than just the people you're related to. A true love starts off as a true love for a person, caring about them, and wanting the best for them, so Kiawentiio's answer wasn't necessarily wrong, it just wasn't all there was to the story, but they said it's just season 1. They want old fans and new fans to be able to enjoy the live action, so that's why they're taking their time and not trying to reveal too much.

The classic Zuko haircut was never gonna make sense visually in live action, yet they had to do it because its very iconic for that part of the characters journey. Can't wait to see him grow it out as the story goes on, he has great hair in the flashbacks and these interviews XD

8:06 in the beginning of the show Aang was seen flying around which can only be done if the bender has no earthly attachments so even if what happened to him is sad he never really cared about it. For zuko throughout the show you can see and feel how his childhood effect’s him even 10 years later.
They changed the flying for the show. Airbenders can just bend air in the Netflix it’s not like how zaheer flew

Written in Chinese, Aang means "peaceful soaring." Considering that Aang was an Air Nomad and heavily believed in non-violence, his name's meaning was quite apt. Meanwhile, Katara and Sokka's names mean "wanting hope" and "I understand", respectively, in Japanese.

no its not, its pronounced kah-tah-rah and soe-kka. I don't speak chinese but the way we pronounce aang also doesnt seem like a chinese pronounciation. I've been studying japanese for like 12 years now (since I was 8) And I've never heard of the word katara used to want hope. Do you know the kanji is used for katara meaning hope? the closest I can think of is 期待 but that is kitai@@hobi.-.

4:09 Bending is partly genetic, partly energy. We saw in Korra how non-benders suddenly became Airbenders after the Convergence happened
ATLA set the precedent. In ATLA, the Lion Turtle gave Aang the energybending. In Korra, we were shown that Lion Turtles gave humans the Bending powers. Bending was not always genetic, but it became genetic.

This cast is so likeable and charismatic, it's insane! They all have amazing chemistry as well. Every interview of them I've seen are all highly entertaining. And you can tell they all really love Avatar and are really big fans. ❤

Yea he seems a bit too cocky for a kid that can’t really act. Hopefully it’s just a phase. And hopefully he gets better at acting, he way way way over acts and he’s not believable in anything he says on the show.

I just love that Gordon Cormier is a fan of The Avatarist like me 😊. He has answers to literally all the questions I ever had about the world of Avatar The Last Airbender.
I feel bad for Kia- you can tell she’s been asked the “Kataang vs Zutara” stuff more often than she wants to deal with. 😞 I’m sure she’s gotten plenty of media training regarding how to approach the shipping questions, but seriously… she should start charging a nickel every time she’s asked about shipping stuff; she can pay off their SAG membership for the rest of her life.
Point being-the ATLA fandom has been vocal about Kataang vs Zutara since *before* some of these actors have been on this earth… and whatever they say (or even quietly imply) is going to rile up the fandom. Sure, it’s great for publicity, but they’re just teen/young-adult actors trying to promote the show they’re in, and should not be placed in a position to say where they stand in this divisive debate. Both Kataang and Zutara are valid at this point- they each have a strong fanbase, regardless of canon- so let’s just set that aside and let Kia, Dallas and Gordon talk about other things they love about the show.
it migh just be me but i think in the show the relationship between katara and aang is only going to be like family bc Kiawentiio said in 3:14 that in there show its like a family relationship just like in season 1
