This fly is an absolute fish taker. I've just won a competition at Lake of Mentieth with this fly. Two of these daddies fished dry for a minute of two, and if that didn't result in a take, then a slow retrieve just under the surface. Practice day bought me and my boat partner 13 fish using this fly. Match day itself caught me 9 fish. Such a versatile and robust fly that takes minutes to tie. You really must give them a swim!
Cheers Tony , the mini daddy catches fish all year found ans is deadly as a point fly on the washing line method and two small nymphs on the droppers.👍🎣🐟
Thick snow here so I won't be fishing but will go and tie up a heap of these for myself and friends. I'm certain I'll get fish with them as I did with the nothing fly and the top hat. Dark brown thread on the top hat makes a difference on some days.
Yes they seem to love the little ones, no messing when taking them, they work great on the point using the washing line method with 2 nymphs on the droppers, deadly 👍🎣🐟
Hi alec just a quick thanks for the mini daddys the nothing black fly unbelievable can't believe that nothing fly thanks for the advice fishing washing line method had 27 fish to the boat Langley dam barry
Cheers Alec, I’ve seen a few small daddies crawling out of the grass on the reservoir I fish, the fish have been going mental on the mayfly but that will be finishing soon , so I’ll definitely give this a go as the fish will probably be high in the water looking for their next meal, thanks for another great video, regards Jimf
@@alecharveyfishingandflytying Definitely do....many people don't realise just how good a river fly it is. Look forward to your next film I enjoy them.
Really enjoying all your videos, thank you for giving up your free time, and most importantly willing to share. Your squirmmy fly loop idea is genius, keep them coming, please 🙏
Many Thanks Jim, it's nice when you get positive feedback, it all started with my original replaceable squirmy method, which I had been using for years 👍🎣🐟
Thanks, they caught me fish yesterday, the fish were smashing them off the surface when I was pulling them to cause a wake, exciting way to fish them 👍🎣🐟
Trevor it depends, if you want it to sit high on the surface then yes, if you want it to slowly sink say on the washing line method then you can choose not to gink it 👍🎣🐟
Hi Alec can you believe it,ordered some tiemco aero dry off eBay to tie your nothing fly received empty sealed package today lol how could they not notice that the package was empty? I’ve seen it all now.
@@alecharveyfishingandflytying caught one on the top hat fly pattern you made aswell, but no luck with the nothing fly, I'll get to try it out again another day 😁

Heading out tomorrow chasing lake browns. I'll be tying 2 of each colour now✌
They all work well Graeme , just change the colours around until you find the one they want on the day 👍🎣🐟
@@alecharveyfishingandflytying Great advice, they look deadly. I'll update tomorrow, I just know they will love them
Very nicely done. That would make a great fly for the rivers too as I'm sure you already know.
I haven't used them on a river Lee, but most trout love a daddy 👍🎣🐟
