- In this very special episode, I share an exciting development for the future of the Urban Gentry channel and community. Join me as I return to the wonderful city of Philadelphia for a behind the scenes tour of my new home as part of the WatchBox family!
In this video I talk to Mike Michaels, WatchBox's master watchmaker, as we take a look at his favourite Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor. We then raid the WatchBox vaults to take a closer look at some very cool pieces indeed. Included is an Omega gold Speedmaster Apollo 11 from 1969, a totally over the top Rolex Yachtmaster "Tutti Fruitt" 116695SATS, a Zenith movement based Daytona 16520 and lastly, a stunning Patek Philippe 5320G-001 Perpetual Calendar Grand Complications.
This is a momentous occasion in the history of the channel, and I am thrilled to share this amazing news with you and the rest of the Urban Gentry community. Thank you for joining me today as I celebrate getting my dream job of sharing my love and passion for watches full time. Onwards and upwards!

Firstly, congratulations on the partnership and progression with WatchBox, great work.
I fear this is the end of the old TGV with the overhead shots and Seiko Reviews and a commercial move, focussing on higher end watches, in a TV format.
However, can’t knock someone for progression, wish you the best of luck!
Hopefully, we don’t lose the old TGV content that we have all fallen in love with overtime. Cheers from the UK as always!
OscarFSaggers end for TGV, beginning for Tristano Goeffrey Veneto, I think between Tim Mosso and TGV they'll have a lot of knowledge covered in most if not all ranges.
Oscar I think it's a little pointless "fearing" something that one doesn't know. I'm personally looking forward in this next chapter of the Urban Gentry channel's life. We'll all have to just wait and see what that brings. 👍
The man knows his roots, he won't abandon anything.
Paul I don’t think we’ll see too many more Seiko 5s though!
brilliantradience I know and appreciate the knowledge between the most. I’m just concerned that we are losing the gentry style that we’ve all grown to love.
We will no longer be joined by the NYPD.
LMFAO. This. All day long this 😂
Hilarious!
😂
...Philthadelphia...
no just by the PPD...
From filming yourself making coffee in your kitchen to this. That’s the American dream right there. A self made man. Congratulations, and I look forward to the new direction of your channel.
congrats on your new partnership. But please dont make your Chanel now only about $1000 plus watches ... keep reviewing all ranges.
Yes!!
Honestly I could see him saving anything over $1,000-2,000 for watchbox since they would have that type of inventory. I'd love to see his channel become focused on more affordable watches and other gentlemanly topics, tools, and accessories. I wouldn't mind seeing him flesh out what being a gentleman means to him.
I don't think the channel will go anywhere affordable now. Just this video itself proves that.. :D
Bruno F. If you watch Watchbox the guys who come on like Jason Mane are advocates for Seiko.
Watchbox may work upwards of a specific price range but they’re not snobs.
The seiko loving gentry is safe imo.
c’mon give him a break! he was obviously super excited to show us all this special watches you usually dont get your hands on. It’s more than understandable! I don’t think he will become a snob as you all fear!
Welcome to the WatchBox family TGV and The Urban Gentry community! We couldn't be more excited to have you aboard. We look forward to getting to know everyone, and enjoying more of TGV's amazing content.
--Team WatchBox
Thank you guys!!!! So pleased to be part of it, truly honored!!!!
See you soon.
Best regards,
TGV
COuld we get a video of Tim and TGV think that would perfect my life! haha
Congrats to both parties involved. Dont ruin it.
Cam Tibbetts - stay tuned, this should be an easy request to grant!
-Team WatchBox
Congratulations to you as well WatchBox, but I’m sure the people that will benefit most from this new partnership most “Is Us”!!😂👍🍻
I have to say, I'm a bit torn on this one. I quite like the nature and untied, unbiased opinion of your hosting style and the honesty of your presentations and would hate for any business to have any say in what is shown. That said I also want the best for you so do wish you all the best. I'll stick around as I have done over the years because I trust you to make the right decision. Good luck on your move Tristano.
dylan vasey
Agree with you. Not optimistic. Watchbox is all about “luxury” brands on their website.
@@redletterl78 That worries me a tad. I did look on the Watchbox site after the video and found myself wondering if we'd still get the same love for cheaper and independent brands as we have done. I really hope so.
@@varanid9 I'd suggest giving it some time. Tristano is right about the UG being able to grow now, and perhaps he is also correct when he says things won't change in regards to being independant. Only time will tell, but you shouldn't jump without having your fears confirmed.
I agree dylan vasey. There is a distinct chance that this channel will be come a rolling advert for Watchbox, only showcasing what suits their purposes. I hope I am wrong.
Then, again, since they mainly deal in luxury brands, they really shouldn't have an issue with TGV doing shows on less expensive makes.
Just don't lose your style TGV. Remain who you are. We love you for who you are.
Not sure how I feel about this. Congrats on the partnership but honestly history shows partnerships like these ruin channels. I also hope this doesnt jade the channel and watchs for you after a while. Time will tell I geuss. First Casey now TGV, all RUclipsrs are leaving NYC
To be honest, not sure how I feel about this. There's a reason why watching you on RUclips feels more personable than watching some show on TV about watches. In moving to a new format with a team of people around you, you may be losing that "feel" of your channel that gained you 327K subscribers. I know you have to make a living, but at least acknowledge the risk.
Urban Gentry, good luck and don't be a Stranger!!!
Understandable. But the watchbox family approached the UG to acquire that personal feeling. They want to tap into that sort of personable story telling and conversation that the UG brings. Growth brings change
‘Gained 327k subscribers’....hmmm not sure that is true.
Not much risk to be had. RUclips add revenue is peanuts. Partnerships are the only way to go for full time you tubers. I doubt he will lose any subs if his content remains high quality. Although we will likely see him market higher end watches going forward which isn't a bad thing.
Mosso and Govberg don't have the everyman appeal that TGV does. It would be pointless to bring TGV in to add that appeal if they (TGV and Watchbox) weren't aware of the need to keep that feel.
I don't care about you TGV, hugo is the reason I subbed your channel.
Anyways, congratulations and all the very best sir!
🦖🦖🦖🦖
Yes, I really appreciate vicariously living the "Watch Life" through YOU!
All we ask is that you stay you, because that’s why we love your channel and you as a person. Many of us wish we could do watches full time, so I’m very happy for you. Keep at it TGV.
Best regards,
-Someone who you’ve inspired to love watches
Great success Tristano, pure class. It’s well deserved take it to a higher level, you really are a magnificent and talented asset for the company and they know it. Congratulations and I hope you can present Ernie more often.
I actually think this is really cool. I would love it if your channel became like the Top Gear of watches, let Mosso and company do the sales and infomercials and let you do the Top Gear thing of focusing on the EXPERIENCE of the watches. Jeremy Clarkson had a great note on that, he said Top Gear wasn't really about reviewing the cars, it was about making the cars come alive and making the viewer feel like they get to share in the experience of driving those incredible cars. I think your channel could become like that but for watches. Good luck!
Nick Prime what a great way of putting that. I loved Top Gear when those guys were on, it not the same now.
Congratulations, TGV! You’re embracing change with open arms, while still staying true to yourself. Smashing. I hope the rent is cheaper in Philly!
Chi-Town California wayyy cheaper!
Congrats TGV! Many comments already say it though, please do not let this be the end of reviewing more affordable watches. You've been the best at showing high quality Swiss, German and Japanese watches for less than 1k. We still need this kind of content!
Congrats TGV. I have to admit I've been subscribed to you since you've had maybe 25k subscribers and this is a big change for me to absorb. I've always loved your style and I do hope it doesn't change.
Well this ended badly!
Congrats Tristano!
Wish you all the best!
At the end, most important of all is you and your family to be Happy and Satisfied with what you are doing, no matter what the Fans will say.
Stay Original, while progressing!
Real friends and Fans will be always here to support you!
Congratulations on the new partnership, TGV. Your infectious enthusiasm helped spark my interest in watches and it's obvious just how excited you are by this opportunity. You have my heartfelt best wishes.
And that Patek..... Absolutely stunning (and unobtainable).
Also, my hometown. I was excited to see you visiting in a previous video and now seeing you live there has me in anticipation of future videos. Good luck to you in all of your endeavors!!
Congratulations and all the best for your new journey and partnership with WatchBox!
“You definitely won’t run out of watches to review now”!
Haha indeed!
Thank you Simon,
Best regards,
TGV
Congratulations TGV! Enjoy the new phase in your life. I hope you continue reviewing every "class" of watches from Seiko 5 to APs and not only review luxury pieces but no one can blame you if you do so! Onwards and upwards!
Congrats! I have to say the TWO RUclips watch channels I enjoy the most are your Urban Gentry channel and Watch Box reviews with Tim. Both channels are unique, entertaining and great sources of information.
Congratulations, TGV! I appreciate so much that you made sure to tell us that you'll still be unbound and able to provide some smashing content free of commercial biases etc. Best of luck in your new endeavor, my friend. We, the good Gentry, shall be standing by to cheer on your impending successes. To quote a classy devil, "Ciao. Ciao, ciao, ciao, ciao....." 😝 See you again soon
Congratulations TGV, I'm so happy for you. All the very best with watchbox collaboration; we really hope we will still get our very own honest & genuine "Tristano (TGV)" in all the watch reviews moving forward. Keep up the good work my friend. Lots of love from Canada!
A huge congratulations to TGV my friend!
I can’t wait to see the combined efforts of my favorite channels.
Joining Tim and discussing Omega, Rolex, AP, VC, PP, Blancpain, etc.
Best wishes all around!
TGV, been watching you since the old days. I doubt you’ll have the time to read this. But as I’ve been saying since the start, WELCOME TO MY CITY!! I’ve always known you’d love it here, welcome brother. Hopefully we can cross paths one day, and enjoy this exciting time in your life and career.
Congratulations TGV! Can’t wait to see where you take it from here. I’m enjoying the ride!
Congrats TGV! U deserve it mate, soak it up, celebrate and enjoy your next chapter, cheers.
I watch the channel because of its honesty integrity ,reviews and opinions, given to us in a jovial friendly , gentlemeny manner, where it's made from any where on the planet I care not , Watchbox ,I know little of , but as long as the aforementioned qualitys ,are carried through , I am not worried ,
Londoners are true to word . 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Congratulations TGV, it's always good to do what you want. As long as we get to enjoy your reviews on youtube it's all good.
Your style is timeless and classic, which will always make you appealing. Again congrats my friend. Well done.
On behalf of your loyal and loving subscribers, I would like to say: Hmmmm.
kilburncounty yeah, I second that. This feels like the wrong outcome for TGVs viewers, regrettably
Definitely agree. This feels like the right move for him, but not for his subscriber base.
But, I could be wrong.
I hope I’m wrong.
Sadly, the partnership lasted only a year. I believe he is still living in Philadelphia. Your gut feeling may have been right.
Fair play, you've got to keep evolving. I’m sure you'll still be the man to 'watch'!
Congratulations on your partnership with WatchBox and I really like your channel, passion towards watches and respect your unbiased opinions towards all sorts of watches. Glad to hear that you made this pact with WatchBox.
Very excited to see you grow. You absolutely deserve it. Your single handedly responsible for myself beginning to admire watches, and I hope to establish a collection of timeless pieces.
Congratulations! I hope this works out for you. Gonna miss you in NYC. Hope we don’t lose too much of the old channel.
Brilliant news TGV! Congratulations! Can’t wait to see reviews of watches with you and Tim Mosso. Well done dude!
I’ve only seen life, class and taste enriched by new experiences, opportunities and challenges. I’ve never seen those being lost as a result. This is onwards and upwards well-defined. Congrats and all of us will benefit.
I met the owner of a yellow Ferrari LaFerrari, and he was wearing a gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona Rainbow! His car looked and sounded excellent, and the watch was remarkable. Congratulations on the partnership with Watch Box, I am subscribed to their emails. Hope to see more amazing content!!!
-Supercars
I am confused about what you mean by a partnership. Are you going to work for the watch box, or are you going to be an independent contractor?
Scott SJ I feel he will now be reviewing watches that are for sale at WatchBox who unfortunately sell all high end luxury pieces which probably cuts out 2/3rds of his audience.
Austin Berry about time. Most of the cheap watches he loves aren’t worth collecting they will decay so now I look forward to a better direction.
@@austinberry1677 Yes,I suspect g,shocks and the likes are going to be briskly swept under the carpet? Doesn't bother me but will detune at that point as will many as you suggest? I,m no nipper and not broke but often the value for money pieces are far more fun! Cheers.
Len Powell Agreed.
Len Powell I was somewhat of a snob when it came to watches and then I found this channel and have learned to respect some low to mid tier brands. Haha I would have never bought a Seiko SKX if it wasn’t for this channel haha
Being a typical brit, I'll be withholding judgment until I see what comes of this move. Hopefully you won't be forgetting your core following is mainly based around the affordable watch ranges, one of the main reasons I've watch your channel for so long.
Anyway, all the best mate, and hope it all works out for you.
Judgement you mean?
Massive congrats! As someone who has been following the channel a long time and watches every video, I am supremely excited for this next stage.
Mike Michaels is a stud, one of my favorite figures to watch. Mosso is the master of horology. Congrats on your collaboration TGV. A great company and great people who have such respect for watches. I look forward to the future programming. Congrats Sir. 🍷
Bubba - a pleasure to see you commenting on any channel. Thanks so much for your support.
--Team WatchBox
First, I want to say thank you for sharing your journey with us. Second, congratulations on this new opportunity! I look forward to seeing where this leads! Be sure to grab some FP Journes from that vault to review for us. Also, share with us what watch you bought to celebrate with. Finally, enjoy that Chronoswiss - The Lunar is one of my favorites and a mid-term grail for me. Had a Kairos back in the day, still regret letting it go. Anyway, once again congrats on the new opportunity and the move - how exciting for you! Ciao, John
I'd love to see you do a series on watches from every country that makes them.
Congrats TGV and congrats to WatchBox on acquiring this channel.
Thank you! We're pretty excited about it too!
--Team WatchBox
Congratulations TGV! I’m incredibly happy for you making this move towards the future of your channel and career. I trust that you will certainly not change as the respectful and insightful man you’ve been. Here’s to the best for the future of the channel and of you!
Welcome to my beautiful city of Philadelphia!! I’ve lived hear my entire life and I love everything about the place and I hope you do as well! Congrats on the partnership, if there is anything I can do for ya to make you feel at home in the city, please feel free to let me know!
Congratulations,
I'm sure you will keep it pure.
Congratulations and best of luck to you TGV! I have accelerated my own watch learning journey with your channel and hope to continue the journey. Please keep the essence of what made your channel great.
I am very happy that you made your dream come true. I am wishing you all the best to your new endevour and just enjoy it lad. Life is nothing more than changing chapters and turning the pages of our life book. Just nothing more but the very best. And one thing else. Architecture plays a significant role to our lives. You are absolutely right.
I really hope with this move you don't alienate the average joes like myself and still continue to talk about and review non luxury, affordable pieces. One of the main reason the majority of the public is not bothered or interested in the hobby of watches is because most of the watches discuss by media is ones that are unobtainable by new and young watch enthusiasts .
You make a good point, Lifeline. I've always liked that TGV, for the most part, focused on affordable watches. This might change. It's a wait and see.
@FallingTitan unobtainable? just work and save man, once you get your first 10k+ piece the other ones get easier to obtain, you can sell trade etc.... 2 for one deals with people who overbuy etc.....
I really don't begrudge TGV some success, but I loved the channel as it was. I'm worried something will be lost.
Congratulations TGV, good to see your genuine passion rewarded with this opportunity....I've always enjoyed your work and look forward to learning more about horology from your new endeavor ....
It brings me so much joy to see you progressing like this, TGV! Two years ago your videos helped me discover my love for mechanical watches so seeing this step in your career is almost like watching distant relative succeed.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your sprezzatura and your journey with us all these years; I look forward to the awesome new content that you and watchbox will surely be bringing us!
But also I'd like to add that I hope this adds more attainable watches to WatchBox's lineup instead of stripping them from The Urban Gentry channel, which is a legitimate concern of mine. I'm 22 years old and a college student so can't even begin to afford a Rolex or an even higher-end piece so I'm not super likely to watch a review on one.
All this said, I cannot forget the brand that TGV has long said is his FAVORITE watch brand, Seiko.
Great news and best wishes in your new career. I hope you that this doesn’t mean you forget and continue to also talk about quartz models and the less expensive watches as you have done so well in the past.
Happy for you and I will continue to watch...under ONE CONDITION....Hugo Mountbatten must remain!
If there are more videos like this to come, im VERY excited!! Congratulations TGV
I am very excited for you TGV. That place looks really awesome. You have taught me much about horology, and after some time watching I purchased a squale 1521. That was two years ago now and I still wear it so much that people recognize me by the watch sometimes. That little part of my identity is because of all your help, thanks.
I don't know what WatchBox is but I guess it's a cool career thing for you. Yes having corporate support will help you do cool traveling and other stuff that needs the financial backing. Super excited for you. Just one criticism, the second camera to show you talking to another camera doesn't feel right for RUclips.
Watchbox sells preloved luxury watches.
Tim Mosso is basically my spirit animal. Can’t say I hate this. Congrats, stay true.
Congratulations TGV! If you ever need a place to stay, I’m about 20 miles away across the bridge in NJ. You are always welcome. 😊
Sincere congratulations, TGV. You are doing very well. WatchBox is fortunate to have you on board.
Oooooohhh yea very Nice storytelling through images! Have a Nice day TGV and congrats on the partnership! Keep it up!
You and Watch Box joining forces = my brain 🤯. Congrats TGV! Excited for you.
Congratulations and best of luck on this new chapter in your life! I'm sure you will continue to be a touchstone of quality and integrity in all aspects of who you are and what you do and I look forward to seeing you and your endeavors, including the Urban Gentry, continue to grow and evolve. All my best to you and yours. Thank you for sharing this with us and onwards and upwards!
You are only 2 hours away from NY.
On my journey in life, I’ve discovered somehow another your passion for what you enjoy doing for a living, opportunities present themselves that permit your heart to flow with it. While we think opportunities are coincidental or by accident or at the right place at the right time, the opposite of these is the absolute truth....it’s actually doors opened by Him who holds all things in His hand.
Congratulations! All the best to you and Hope you continual sharing your inner Gentry with us.
(Hope to run into you sometime as I am an hour and a half away from Philadelphia and I frequent Philly for all it’s diversities it offers)
I watched the video from beginning to end, and unless I somehow missed it - I didn’t hear anything regarding the nature of the partnership. What are you doing for them? What are they doing for you? What is the desired outcome that leads both parties to form a partnership? Why the move to Philly? It’s not a long commute from NYC. How will this impact and/or benefit your subscribers and Watchbox’s subscribers?
I'm so happy for you TGV!
Enjoy it all, have fun, be well.
Excited to see what will come of this TGV. My two favorite watch channels teaming up! Congrats on the achievement!
Congratulations TGV , more watches , more reviews and you don't need to juggle careers . wish you the very best.
Congrats and good luck! Great opportunity. But be careful, if I remember correctly Federico had a not so pleasant experience with Watchbox (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Again awesome job TGV and keep it up!
Out of curiosity, what kind of issues did Federico have with Watchbox?
@@spankymcbee0903 They couldn't afford the catering budget and had to sack him
@@theprovincial hahahaha you made my day
@@spankymcbee0903 They relocated from Miami to wherever they are up north now just a few months after he relocated to Miami to join them. Had to either go with them or quit. Understandably he chose to go his own way, and it seems to be working out: there's a video about it on his channel.
Congrats, TGV. Onwards and upwards. Obviously, you will need to get yourself a new watch to commemorate the moment...
Austin Bailey Great idea!
Happy for you, TGV -You deserve it! Enjoy the moment. :) and We all look forward to what lies ahead.
Congratulations Tristano! A marvelous opportunity for you and for WatchBox.
555 Gear we are lucky to have TGV on board!

With a motto like "onwards and upwards", it is only fitting that you should want to innovate in new directions. Best of luck with your ventures in Philly.
Congrats!
It warms my heart to see someones dreams come true, especially in such a small comunity as horology. You could serve as an example to all of us.
Thank you for sharing all of this with us!
Congratulation for this incredible opportunity. All the best. It's well deserved.
Congratulation! I am very excited for this new chapter of the channel! 😀
Good video, but awful camera work. Couldn't keep even keep focus.
Many congrats, TGV. Just one complaint, the shaky-cams make me nauseous, which is why I like channels like yours and usually don't watch TV. Perhaps the camera guys could work more from tripods and less from wandering-up-and-down cams. I would like that. I'll still watch your channel though. Your natural ability as an interviewer really shines in this first video in this new format.
A sincere congratulations TGV , it just goes to show hard work , dedication and a passion for a subject can pay off . I could listen to Mike the watchmaker all day , such an engaging man .
You deserve it! I am very happy for you! I am sure the time will tell that you have done the right thing as long as you keep being faithfull to your roots.
All well and good, TGV, but we're dying for the answer to the _real_ question: *Pat's* or *Geno's* ! 😄
Tachi Tekmo Philly cheese steaks!
This is how every good RUclips channel ends. You partner up with "insert production co." then they fire you and make you agree to never talk about "insert subject matter" on RUclips again. Good luck man.
Exactly how it seems to be headed
You predicted that one!
💯 knowledge
Well, I'm certainly glad that you are envisioning a bigger stage for the Gentry.
It's good that you didn't have to move too far from NYC to start working on this collaboration. It was nice to see so many comments from subscribers from Philly.
Maybe this means that it may be more feasible to put together more live events, tours, and get together about watches, in Philly, New York, or farther afield. Might be fun to take the show on the road!
Hi TGV. Couldn’t wait until I arrived home from work to view your latest video. I’m so genuinely excited for you to hear your great news about the next phase of your life and what you’re doing in what will be the next phase of your horological journey of discovery. Best part is, I get to ride shotgun, so to speak, as you continue journeying onwards and upwards. This is going to be very cool for the Gentry for sure! Congratulations my friend. Your hard work, passion, vision and drive are all reaping well earned rewards. No doubt, there’s many more to come. Bring it on sir!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
For a second I thought you partnered with one of those cheap watch subscription services ala watchgang. Phew glad to know I was wrong. Good luck and hope for the best from this partnership!
Haha, I had the same worries. What a relief huh 😅
Congratulations! Looking forward to new and more in depth content. Happy to have you closer to the Mitten and hoping for events we can attend.
Massive congrats TGV. Been watching since the early days. Always have enjoyed your take on all tiers of horology, especial the entry level , mid tier where you have been a big influence in deciding what to go for. All the very best! Cento Anni !
Congrats. I love that you have rolled a youtube channel into a career. What a dream. Looking forward to nerding out with you in the future.
I was so lucky to run into you leaving Govberg after my exam in Philly! Best of luck with the new endeavor TGV!
Hey Marek! haha
Following the footsteps of Frederico. Give it a month and you’ll be back on your channel.
That's pretty awesome :) Can't wait to see your new videos because I know Michael's content as well... merging all this knowledge will be very interesting !
Awesome news! Welcome to the watchbox team, you're going to add a great perspective to an already amazing group. Can't wait for your content.
Nice to see you over here M Fenimore! Thanks for your support!

Congrats, TGV! Love you and love Watchbox! Looking forward to seeing more!
Great news, TGV. This really feels like the right move for you. I love it when people's loves and professional work completely align. Congratulations!
All the best TGV, You have put in the hard work.
By hard work, I do not mean subscribers or views.
The amount of work you put in your production, presentation and content differentiates you from the others. Watchbox made the right move to make you a partner.
Keep up the hard work. And like their slogan says "respect the hustle", which I do.
All the best!
I'm looking forward to enjoying this new chapter in your life. You obviously put a lot of thought into the decision to move, and I'm pumped by your enthusiasm. Best of luck moving forward.
