    Hello, I was having the same problem with my refrigerator not making ice. I tried the forced defrost code 072 and it made 1 bucket of ice. This happened again and this time the code 072 or the hair dryer did not work. I called Frigidaire/Electrolux and this is what they suggested. It worked perfectly and I didn’t have to disassemble anything.
    Trouble shooting steps for Ice Maker
    1. Have the consumer Switch the Control (UI) Panel to CRUSHED.
    2. Have the consumer remove the ice bucket
    3. Next have consumer continuously press down the dispenser paddle for 2 minute intervals
(Releasing the paddle and then pressing the paddle again) for a total of 3 times (6 minutes tot
This will melt and evaporate any ice around the auger motor shaft.
    4. Have consumer switch the control (UI) panel to CUBE. Next reinsert the ice bucket, close the door and have them attempt to dispense ice again.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have that exact model and had the same problem. First time it happened, I called a repairman who charged me $160 to unplug the frozen line. Second time it happened, I called him again and he said that it would keep happening and that he hated to keep charging me to come unplug the frozen line, and that he didn't know any other way to fix it. He told me to do the hair dryer thing and I thought that would be a pain in my patootie. So...when all else fails...RUclips! The process you described worked the very first time I tried! Woohoo! Thanks SO much for figuring out all that button pushing. That tech stuff is beyond me. But I'm now a happy icer. 🤗

I'm not one to post videos, but once I figured out something people could try that I hadn't seen through hours of searching through videos, I had to share.. so it makes it feel worth the time it took knowing it has helped some people. Hope it continues to not give you problems. Makes me want to add a little insulation to my lines somehow like the pipes under my house haha.

    (Sept 2024 edit changing the water fill mode to 56 from my previous error entry of 54) Thank you so much! Yours was the only video that was for my exact model, and I had no ice in the bin. Your video was the perfect fix, and my wife was delighted I was not tearing it apart. I would recommend adding that once you start the defrost that it will automatically stop before it fully warms up and melts the frozen water line. Once it shut off, I had to press the cube button again so it would keep warming up, and then had to do it a third time until it got to about 65°. Then I switched it to number 56 and I could hear the water dispensing. It would be good to try that first to determine if the waterline is frozen now that I think of it. But anyhow, thank you so much for taking the time to post that video.

    You're awesome! Thanks! I searched through many videos on similar, but different, Frigidaire models before I came across your video on the same model that I have. Great sleuthing to find and post the diagnostic chart, and the very helpful description of how to interpret it. I ran both the #72 and #79 defrost and left the ice maker Off overnight. Turned on the next day and it was making ice normally. In my case, the root causes of the unit freezing up might have been a slightly large item in the small tray in front of the ice maker that was propping the door open at the top maybe 1/4" for a long time before I noticed. Also leaving the ice maker On continuously in the winter and away for a few weeks when the ice make got little use.

    Thank you !!
    I have watched several videos and yours helped
    Me the most. My fridge is less than a year old, and although it’s not the same model as yours I have the same control panel and the same issue.
    I heard in other comment sections that this problem is more prevalent in humid climates.
    But I think the most bothersome part is that this is a problem for lots of models- across many years. They just keep selling newer products with old problems. ☹️

    • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  Год назад

      I agree about the most bothersome part being that they let this issue bleed into new generations. But service calls, parts and selling warranties keep the money flowing after the initial sale I guess. Quality isn't what it used to be :(. That is interesting about the humid climate comment, I am in the deep south! Thanks for letting me know that it helped at all and good luck to you.

I ran every diagnostic test for the icemaker that was on the data sheet, and all passed, I still had the problem of ice tray filling up and freezing but would not continue making ice. I had the thought that maybe if I unplugged the refrigerator for a few minutes then plug it back in it might reset similar to a restart on my laptop. First of all, thanks a million... this technique solved my problem with the ice maker not working. It now functions perfectly. I just want to drop in another quick tip: You might have to perform the defrost procedure multiple times to get all of the ice in the very back of the ice maker melted. I did the defrost function about 5 times over a period of about 3 hours. Perhaps my coils were frozen more than others, but just wanted to put this out there in case you try the defrost mode only once and wonder why it did not work. Use the defrost mode "72" several times in a row!

    I tried running the defrost code 72 3 times, but it didn’t work, so I called a repairman. He did the same thing, running it until, the temp reached 92, then it started to drop back down to 73°, indicating that the water was able to flow again. So far, that has fixed it. BTW; I was getting error “t7”, which isn’t listed in the web available check sheet, but it indicates a problem with the main board, a $200 part. That indication appears to be in error; it goes away once the ice maker is making ice again.

    • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  3 месяца назад

      Wow all the way to 92, good to know sometimes that is necessary. Thanks for sharing your experience. Interesting about the error code, and glad it seems to go away once ice is being made again. I know that's stressful, the last thing I want to see is an error code. Curious what temps your fridge and freezer are set at? It helped tremendously increasing my temps slightly (though the temps inside the fridge and freezer show lower on my thermometer), keeping the filter changed frequently etc.

    Great info, especially the service diagnostic codes. I also had no ice. Did a reboot of the fridge, changed the filter and eventually the ice maker tray. Still no ice. Went through each diagnostic code and all looked normal. Noticed the Ice Maker light would not stay lit and now it will only crush the ice to dispense, no cube dispense. Eventually replaced the control board and all is well. The user manual for appliances these days are pathetic with minimal and sometimes cryptic information. It's like they want the customer to call the repair service every time there is an issue.

I ran the ice tray dump diagnostic test, it worked fine filled back up with water, froze and refused to do anything else. • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  4 месяца назад

      I don't know how to increase the frequency or speed at which is freezes, but to make larger cubes I increased the length of time the dispenser added water. A 1 second increase helped a lot and I also notice my cubes are larger when I put in a new filter. On the data sheet, one of the options allows you to increase the time it fills the cube tray. Hope that answers your question.

    When I first encountered this problem, was in May, 2022. The fridge was bought new, and delivered, in June, 2020, and I purchased a 3-year warranty. When the unit quit making ice, I placed a warranty service call.
    The repairman came out, and said that the ice maker fan was not working. Turning it on in the diagnostic panel, did not work. So, he ordered a new fan, to replace the "bad" one. After the fan arrived, he disassembled the ice maker, and discovered ice maker fan had a bad wire to the fan. He repaired the wire, installed the new fan, and gave me the old fan, which actually still works. All this was done under the extended warranty. Of course, now the extended warranty has expired, and I did not renew it. Renewal was too costly for me.
    However, this time, I do not think it's the fan, so I'm trying your method. After exiting the menu, the panel shows Adjusting Temp. So, I'll wait 24 hours, and see if it creates any ice. My temps are currently set to 0° for the Freezer, and 37° for the Refrigerator, the factory recommendation, and upon exiting the diagnostic mode, the Adjusting Temp light came on. So, we'll see what happens.
    Thanks for posting this video and the Update video.

      @@bigvslilworld, Well, my ice maker stopped making ice again. I actually forgot that I had saved your video, and your diagnostic steps. So, I referred to you video again, and followed the steps. The "72" value was showing 10° when I turned it ON. I'm not sure what that value should be. In your video, it showed -13°, so I'm suspecting mine showed 10°, because it was turned off. Anyway, hopefully, my ice maker will start making ice again. So, we shall see what it does. Thank you, again, for your helpful info.
      BTW, my panel shows my freezer set at 0° and my fridge set at 37°, which is the factory recommended settings. @Channel99-1 Im glad you were at least able to rule some stuff out. I also hate this fridge, and I'm not surprised it would do you dirty like that on the hottest day of the year! Can you spin the blades if you poke something back there where the fan is? Sometimes ice can accumulate and it freeze the blades in place, even if you can't see ice somewhere else. Though I guess it is totally possible that happened, it froze up and it burned the fan up being stuck but powered. interesting! I have had only one issue with the freezer temp getting too high and never adjusting back down, and it was because I had way too much stuff in there and I believe it was confusing what senses the temperature. I rearranged everything so the air could flow freely and did the "quick chill" button that you'd use for chilling a drink in the freezer and was able to get the temp down a lot faster than waiting for it to adjust overnight (takes awhile for the temps to regulate, like when first plugged in). I ran the quick chill twice and got it back down fairly quickly. That was all guess work on my end, but may be worth a try?

The date sheet linked above and in the comments has details on test 79, I believe it says to not run the test longer than 5 minutes. When is the last time your filter was changed? The first issue I ever had with this fridge was no ice bc of clogged water filter (our county water is disgusting unfortunately and I go through filters rather quickly, first sign is usually strange looking ice). Good luck and keep us updated.

      Thank you! I actually just ordered a water filter and it will be here Saturday, hopefully. I ran all of the test, so I will keep it off for a while and drink bottled water until the new filter gets here. Will update you soon.

    okay, I have this exact model, currently. when I 1st plugged everything in, it made ice well. after 2-3 days, no ice production, which definitely leads me to believe that there is a defrost issue as well. one of the big issues i am currently experiencing is the drip pan located behind the rear bottom metal access panel that sits under the black coils, keeps filling with water, and pretty quickly, to the point that the water ends up overfilling and then eventually leaking onto the floor. I feel like the water that is supposed to be going to the ice maker is somehow traveling to this drip tray pan, and most likely ( I believe) this could be due to a failed defrost heater somewhere possibly. what do you think @BigV ? -Any help would be Greatly Appreciated

    • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  Год назад

      Interesting! I would try a couple of things- have you tried test #56 in the manual linked in the video description? Make sure water is traveling through your fill tube to your ice tray (and a good stream, a drip or low psi could indicate a leak like you think may be present).
      Is water leaking at the water filter? check and see if there is a good seal or evidence of water leaking where the water filter is installed, and if that is preventing water from entering the ice tray.
      Also to double check, how old is your filter? I had a ton of water leaking from my ice maker the first time I needed to change my filter., and no ice. I now know filters only last 3 months in my house, not the usual 6 months (I desperately need a whole house filter). The second time my filter was the issue, I had no ice and no water to the tray when I ran test 56.
      Other tests I might try -79 (fill tube heater- if water does not come out into the tray and it seems the fill tube could be frozen), tests 45 and 68 (see if either of those show as shorted or open, and note the temperatures).
      I will continue to brainstorm! Keep me updated.

      This fridge really is a pain lol. I checked mine (it is working properly today) and it currently reads 3 degrees. It went up to 34 when I did the test. I would think 7 is okay? But, I honestly do not know what the base number should be.

    • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  Год назад

      Also, double check to see if the dispenser over the ice tray is dispensing water. It is possible that is frozen. Test 56 should dispense water if you have no water in the tray. I would double check that. If no water is being dispensed then I would chase that down.

    How long do you leave it in defrost mode before turning it off and coming out of diagnostic mode? Before starting I see icing around the ice maker at rear of fridge. Hoping this does the trick. I noticed that it times out after a while and goes to "oF". So do you come out of defrost mode when you see that? Good video!!!

    • @bigvslilworld
      @bigvslilworld  Год назад +2

      Yes it is coming out of defrost mode when it says "oF". Typically, I let it get to at least 33 degrees. I will turn it back on and let it rise if it shuts off before that, just to make sure everything warms up a bit above freezing. Good Luck!

    • @bigvslilworld

      I let it run to above freezing. If it doesnt reach above freezing, I would continue to run the test until it does. Also, I recommend increasing your fridge temperature. I am running 0 freezer and 39 fridge (up from 36/37, which I read Frigidaire recommends) and no longer have the "no ice" issue happening.

      Interesting! I would check to see if power is making it to the display. If not, I would figure out where the break is. Also check the ground, continuity etc and of the regular troubleshooting techniques for electrical parts. If you have good power and ground to the display, I would guess the easiest next step is to replace the entire display. Good luck!
