I cannot even right now. The fact you can INCREASE the ice production. This fridge came brand new with our house and we couldn’t figure out why a 5k dollar fridge was making so little ice. You are Da Man
Let me tell you my jaw dropped when I saw the option to change ice amount. And you saved me, I just did this 15mins ago and just heard ice drop in the tray. Thank you 🙌
My jaw dropped when I was able to fix my ice maker after following your instructions. Life hack. How in the world are we supposed to know where these codes are hidden? I was ready to call repair guy and 2min of following your hack and waiting over night, my ice maker is working like a charm. Also, knowing I can set it to make more ice when the kids and their partners come for the weekend....life changing! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much - I followed this and got ice again! The first time I did it, I only waited an hour or two before starting the ice maker again. The second time, I let it go overnight. I turned the ice maker on in the morning and by night I had my first bit of ice starting again! By the next day it was half full again If you do this, don't worry about the temperature going up, the stuff in your fridge is fine Thanks!!
Ahhhhh, OK, I was worried about the last part of your comment! The light and fridge is completely off when you activate this setting. I saw the light in the fridge was off and I heard the cooling of the fridge turn off too.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! We have this exact model. For some reason, this summer, it has frozen up every few days. I've been using the hair dryer method, but we don't even get half a bucket of ice before it is frozen again. I'm doing this method right now, and I see the temperature rising quickly as I'm typing this. Again, THANK YOU! I would like the video 20 times if I could lol **update** still working ❤❤❤
I can't thank you enough!! You saved us time and money. After walking through your steps yesterday, I have ice this morning! Thank you for sharing your knowledge to help others!
You sir are doing Gods work! I can’t thank you enough seriously. I have watched countless videos, read so many blogs and even had a repairman come out (twice)yet your tutorial is the only one that has actually worked 🙌🏼 My Frigidaire is a similar model as yours and it’s so frustrating 🤦🏻♀️ having this hack has been such a lifesaver! Thanks again!
My fridgedair gallery, like others, showed "CL 26" with no temp like others commented (model FGHF2366PFBA). It looks like the process worked anyway after a few attempts and I have ice again (next day). In ~10 minutes the control panel will reset to normal. I went through the steps again to make sure I didn't miss something. On the 3rd or 4th run through I got "OP 26". I didn't time it, but each cycle appeared to take less time. See Kyle Wood's comment in the replies. CL appears to mean "closed" and OP appears to mean "open". I'm guessing the transition from closed to open means the process worked. I left the icemaker off overnight and hit the defrost cycle a couple of times for good measure (hold + and - buttons together for 5 sec). My fridge has a "quick freeze" setting and not the water+crush bar thing. Many thanks to Da MAN for posting this nugget. Fully agree that this is a fridge series to avoid. The only downside with this easy fix is that I'm not forced to replace this thing.
I don't think a cold fridge at normal operating temp should ever say OP (Open). Normal operation is for it to be on CL (closed). It may show (OP) if you had the fridge off for a long while and caused it to defrost, but under normal operating conditions, it should go back to CL.
THIS IS THE VIDEO TO WATCH great tip save time and money don't have to disassemble and defrost. Find option 26 in the menu and let the refrigerator thaw it's self!
THANK YOU!!!! I had a repairman here and he charged me 75 bucks to hit the reset button which didn't help...go figure. Then he quoted me $240 to swap out 2 parts (valve and icemaker) which i ordered for half that and RUclipsd how to do on my own. When i was taking it all apart I saw the ice in the back but didn't realize that was the problem until the replacement parts didn't do anything to help with the situation. Now that I've come across your video I'm praying this is the solution!!! And yes, the refrigerator is the worst!!!
Wow, when I saw how you reset the ice production.... We used to keep bags of ice on hand (IKR just like everyone else) Hopefully my icemaker will thaw out and production will ramp up. Awesome video, perfect content, perfect length, clear instruction. Truly you Da Man!
you are a Genius!!!!! my ice maker was running so slow that we would buy bags of ice. . . i pressed the water and the crushed ice and the bar was set to one. . . hopefully this will work!
Ahhh lifesaver. Our ice maker has been out for WEEKS. My husband sent me your video yesterday and we woke up to a full ice bin this morning. Thank you!
You are Da Man! I had the same problem and this fixed it. I had to repeat the process several times over the course of a day or two. I left the ice make off for over 24 hours. Now I have ice! Thanks man!
hi there! thank you for this video. i tried another youtube video, disassembled the whole ice maker to defrost and yes it did work but it was a pain. i tried your method and i would say 1/4 of the tray became filled with ice. so it did work, but did not fill the ice try. i am going to try it again and leave the ice maker off overnight (vs 1-2 hours only). one thing i did notice was that my fridge says "CL 26" where as yours showed numbers blinking/rising and 26. do you know what this means? or if there is anything i can do differently? thank you for the tips, appreciate your time!
What if your display is only partially visible(lights out?) is the list you scan through the same with all gallery models? I counted you pressed 24 times but I can’t tell if that’s what I landed on 😔
I could have sworn the first time my fridge did this, I left the comment thanking you, but apparently I didn't cause I don't see it here. I'm going to leave this comment now because this is the second time I've had to do this and this time it's not because it's frozen it's because it froze over itself so it froze the tray half way of emptying it and it kind of just spilled a bunch of water all over it so we had our refrigerator like peeing all over the floor we didn't know what was wrong with out the fridge broke because of course it's a Frigidaire why wouldn't a break but found out it was the ice maker it was frozen completely all the lines again play different this time but still the same outcome so again I thank you for saving me from this nightmare that is for a dare this was an emergency purchase because our other refrigerator died and we are stuck with this one as an emergency soon as we can we're getting rid of it but I thank you with my whole ass heart for this video
Fantastic video / tips, thanks so much for posting. I have the exact model that you do and this fixed my issue! I was dreading having to fully disassemble the ice maker unit and use the blow-dry method. Question for you: how frequently have you had to do this "force defrost heater" method? In other words, does it last weeks / months / longer between needing this done? Wasn't sure how recently you started doing this method to "fix" the ice maker when it stops working. Just trying to gauge how long I can expect this to last, or if I should do this fix pre-emptively every few months? Do you think it would be bad to run the heater fix if there's ice in the tray? Thanks again and sorry for all the questions, but your video is much appreciated!
its a pain in the ass i have to do mine every other week or as often as needed because the icemaker freezes up all the time!!!!!! it runs out of ice then i defrost and wait!!!! i am pist off with this fridge
I have the same model, same problem. This fixed the problem. I do this every couple months. I run that cycle that he shows 5 or 6 times in a row to defrost. Might be a little overkill but it keeps the ice maker running longer I think
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Like another reviewer said leaving it off for a couple hours did not do the trick. But when I shut it off for EIGHT hours and then turned the ice maker back on it worked! I now have ice cubes again! You are the man!!! Well…..I THOUGHT it fixed it and it did start making ice again but after a few hours it stopped making ice. I have since gone through this procedure many times and same thing over and over again. Any more ideas? 😕
I have a Frigidaire professional side by side that has the dreaded CE error and can’t be fixed because the control board is no longer made for it. It has served us so well that I want another fridge from their professional line. I have had this fridge for years and had very few problems with it and nothing that I couldn’t fix myself. Considering the racket on new appliances and companies that just don’t care about customer satisfaction because they don’t have to, I believe that a brand that has served us so well for so long deserves a second round. I hope your new refrigerators are as good as your previous models. I so want to be a customer for life.
Thank you! So good to know! I have a problem… so I tried taking the ice maker apart to fix the motor or see why it’s not rotating anymore. Now I don’t know how to put it back together. 😢😢😢 Help please!
I had to do it a couple of times but it worked. Stopped making ice last evening and I decided to go through this again and I found the temp in menu 26 to be 65* F.
Thank you for this video! My husband hates our fridge. It was already in the house when we bought in 2019. I (mistakenly) thought at least it's new so we shouldn't have any trouble. Because it was already here, we didn't get an owner's manual or anything and have learned some of the menu by trial and error. Can you tell me if there is a printed comand tree anywhere so that we can know some of these functions?
Thank you! We already had the ice maker replaced and it still stops making ice on and off. Is this a “fix” you still have to do every so often? I wish there was a permanent fix!
OMG! THANK YOU! I had no idea you could increase the ice production! I was so confused why it wasn't making ice!!!! I thought it was about to die on us. Thank you (Video 2:40, to increase ice production)
I have a year old frigidaire fg4h2272uf. The Ice maker stopped working. I put a Hair Dryer inside where the Ice bucket was and let it blow on high for several minutes. It worked and now it makes ice.
My fridge is exactly like this, it just stopped making ice, I followed the instructions you gave, after about 10 minutes of the temp going up and flashing, it beeped then reset itself. Is this right? Or should I go through the steps again. Or just leave it alone for a couple hours now with the ice maker still off? Also I had no clue I could change the amt of ice it could make! It was set on one bar!
Thank you. My ice maker is working again. And the ice is thicker. And it's quiet. It was starting to get loud when dropping the ice and filling the tray. Now I don't hear it anymore. Thank you thank you! You are da man 😁
Thanks man. Good video. So my prb started with left door not closing properly. Upon inspection I saw the ice building behind and now doing the defrost. Ice maker wasn't even on due to winter.
I like the vid.. learned me a lot but now my fridge quit making ice cubes and the cooling part is to low.. I don't have a code 26 at all when I followed your steps.. Can you help me out? Thanks!
I defrosted our ice maker with a hairdryer. Then, I saw this video....ugh! I am having problems putting the ice maker back together. I have the guides of the ice tray aligned with the four bolts, but the tray will not slide. Any suggestions? I wish i have seen the video earlier.
I have a slight different model (fg4h2272uf) and the console is not the same. I did the hair dryer defrost a few months ago, but no ice. Finally figured out that I have a simple ice maker on/off setting. I only needed to turn it back on.
You can force a defrost without going through the test menus. Just hold the '+' and '-' buttons for 10 seconds. But in most cases that won't fix a frozen fill tube.
Does the fridge shut off while it’s raising the temperature- the lights shut off inside? Will it automatically stop when it’s done raising the temperature???
You left ice maker ON, I thought you were to turn it off. My unit when in the OFF mode I get CL when in the 26 mode.. I f I leave it ON like you did and get to the 26 the display shows CL. In both case I do not see the temperature climb. any ideas for me
Heeeey my tray isn't filling with water - maybe this is the problem! Now, apparently the fridge has a defrost mode that you can activate if you hold the + and - at the same time... or something like that. Is that particular function different than doing it manually the way you did??
Does this defrost the entire fridge, or just the ice maker? The reason I ask is because when I got to the setting 26, the entire fridge cut off. Probably a dumb question but I guess I need to take all the food out of the fridge during this process?
Awesome video. I noticed I started having problems at first after the ice bin filled up. I am assuming when I turned off the ice maker the old ice in the ice tray never got dispensed. I believe this due to the fact that I found the ice tray to have frozen water in it and little to no ice production. Lucky me, the ice was falling sideways and not towards the rear motor as some people have had happen to them. I just defrosted the tray with a hair blower and tried to drain water with a napkin. I hope it works properly now. If not ill use your code techniques ! Awesome video!
I just finished the steps and I’m off to bed. Let’s see if there is ice in the morning! I did notice that when I went to 26. The temp was 37°. After the ten minutes or whatever time it was I checked again and it said it was 12° so maybe it worked. Will hope that I got some ice in the morning. Also was cool that I got to increase ice production.
I got the big rust spot and a dome of ice on the back where the condensation slowly froze the water line to the back of the fridge near icebox. For a solution, I also got a thick sheet of insulating foam and glued it onto the back of the fridge, keeping lines from touching the metal. It’s given us a couple more years of life with no frozen lines. Three years later, now the icebox has stopped working, with an ice clog inside the fridge. Hoping a hair dryer and thia guys method gives us a couple more years.
i have a different problem, my tray fills up to tippy top sometimes I can't pull it out. i tried diag for plastic arm, it does move up and down. i have to check tray at least twice a week, i did set ice making frequency to 1 bar. any ideas. by the way good video.
Our model is a bit different, we have a lower ice maker also, have just been using it since we "ran out of ice".. been meaning to look up a probable cause and solution.. Just set it to mode "26", will update if it starts making ice again.. UPDATE.. the next morning.. there is ice in the tray!! I think I will run this defrost cycle monthly..
What if your display is only partially visible(lights out?) is the list you scan through the same with all gallery models? I counted you pressed 24 times but I can’t tell if that’s what I landed on 😔
I just followed the instructions and by doing this the fridge light also is off when the door is opened. Is this right? I’m worried the whole fridge is off during this process
I get to the code 26 on my Gallery but it doesn’t show the degrees changing on the left. Just says CL 26 and sits there. Any idea on how to start up the process?
@@manof1997 Thanks for the reply, however after a few minutes it just goes back to showing normal freezer and refrigerator temperatures. Never starts up on its own. Looks like yours but is 8 yr old model. I’m trying moving freezer temp to 2 degrees to see if that does anything
@@manof1997 Thank You for responding, I will try this evening. I suppose I should do this frequently? What has been your experience since you discovered this?
I cannot even right now. The fact you can INCREASE the ice production. This fridge came brand new with our house and we couldn’t figure out why a 5k dollar fridge was making so little ice. You are Da Man
Read.... Tha.... Manual.... 😂
@@PhantomPanic That's not in the manual Manuel!
That doesn’t increase the ice production, it increases the amount of fill in the ice tray making the cubes bigger… it can over flow.
Let me tell you my jaw dropped when I saw the option to change ice amount. And you saved me, I just did this 15mins ago and just heard ice drop in the tray. Thank you 🙌

Outstanding video! Mine has been doing the same thing since day one. Thank you brother, you definitely the man. 👍👍👍
We have a frigidaire and it is the worse. I have called them about 6 times already.. Thank you. I am willing to try anything.
Man I can’t thank you enough! I got the six year warranty at Lowe’s and I’m thinking maybe I should see if they’ll let me trade it in
Omg thanks soo much I have literally just been buying ice because this pos stopped working!!!

Hello I am having the same problem. Any idea on how to fix?
Same problem, went to code 26 but it has a solid “Cl” displayed.
Same for me, older model so I wonder if 26 is the right code for this?
We have this identical fridge and fortunately the only ice maker issue we've had is the cubes backing up in the chute. Thanks for the video
this was very helpful and worked for me. We are in a rental and did not know what to do. You tube for the win. Thankyou sooooo much.

I had to do it about once a month as it stopped making ice. No need to run the defrost unless it stops making ice.
its a pain in the ass i have to do mine every other week or as often as needed because the icemaker freezes up all the time!!!!!! it runs out of ice then i defrost and wait!!!! i am pist off with this fridge
We got screwed buying this frig!
Agreed. POS
Very helpful except my code 26 has CL to the left of it with no temp. The model is Gallery FGHB2866. Could it be a different code?
Mine too! Mine is actually a kenmore. I have had repair out at least five times in about as many years, three times in the last two years.
I have the same thing showing up on mine
I have the same model, same problem. This fixed the problem. I do this every couple months. I run that cycle that he shows 5 or 6 times in a row to defrost. Might be a little overkill but it keeps the ice maker running longer I think
I'm going to try this as well. Thanks
Thanks very, very much. I just followed your instructions and we'll see if this way fix the problem on this NEW fridge. Thanks again. Blessings!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Like another reviewer said leaving it off for a couple hours did not do the trick. But when I shut it off for EIGHT hours and then turned the ice maker back on it worked! I now have ice cubes again! You are the man!!!

Thank you! So good to know! I have a problem… so I tried taking the ice maker apart to fix the motor or see why it’s not rotating anymore. Now I don’t know how to put it back together. 😢😢😢 Help please!
Thank you! Trying this now, but it's absolute BS that this fridge has this issue.
My model doesn't show a parameter 26 in the diagnostic menu. Could it be under another code?
I had to do it a couple of times but it worked. Stopped making ice last evening and I decided to go through this again and I found the temp in menu 26 to be 65* F.
Thanks so much for posting this. I don't know why they wouldn't include this as at least a troubleshooting tip in the manual.
Is in the troubleshooting diagram by the main control board
Because they make money from your service call.
Best video on RUclips. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! My husband hates our fridge. It was already in the house when we bought in 2019. I (mistakenly) thought at least it's new so we shouldn't have any trouble. It’s located on the bottom right hand side of the Fridge behind the grill
Bottom front right hand side
Thank you! We already had the ice maker replaced and it still stops making ice on and off. Is this a “fix” you still have to do every so often? I wish there was a permanent fix!
Great video. Mine is not showing the 26 option. Does it vary from model to model?
Same here
Thank you for posting didn't know about increasing ice. We had ours for 3 years and it just now had an ice making issue otherwise all around enjoy it.
OMG! THANK YOU! I had no idea you could increase the ice production! I was so confused why it wasn't making ice!!!! I thought it was about to die on us. Thank you
(Video 2:40, to increase ice production)
I have a year old frigidaire fg4h2272uf. The Ice maker stopped working. I put a Hair Dryer inside where the Ice bucket was and let it blow on high for several minutes. It worked and now it makes ice.
Have the same fridge no issues yet with ice maker but appreciate the video!
Gosh I hope this works! Who knew there was an adjustment to make more ice? I checked….mine was on 1-bar!🥴
My fridge is exactly like this, it just stopped making ice, I followed the instructions you gave, after about 10 minutes of the temp going up and flashing, it beeped then reset itself. Is this right? Yes, it resets when done. I would run the code again just to make sure it melts everything.
Thank you. My ice maker is working again. And the ice is thicker. And it's quiet. It was starting to get loud when dropping the ice and filling the tray. Now I don't hear it anymore. Thank you thank you! You are da man 😁
Thank you for sharing. I will try it. I have not had ice for over a year.
So on mine the top ice maker is barely making any, now the ice maker in the lower freezer isnt making any ice at all. Was yours doing the same?
Thanks man. Good video. So my prb started with left door not closing properly. Upon inspection I saw the ice building behind and now doing the defrost. Ice maker wasn't even on due to winter.
Dude. DUDE! DUUYUUYDE! You are a Rockstar! You saved me. We NEVER have enough. Thank you for this. Where on earth are these hold instructions from?
Diagnostic paper should be under ur fridge. Remove that bottom vent guard n should be on the right. Depending ur fridge.
Had the appliances left on my new home and this fridge is one. Mine has stopped making ice a few days ago
I like the vid.. learned me a lot but now my fridge quit making ice cubes and the cooling part is to low.. I don't have a code 26 at all when I followed your steps.. Can you help me out? Thanks!
I have this fridge. Any ideas on why the fridge would not cool past 50 degrees?
I defrosted our ice maker with a hairdryer. Then, I saw this video....ugh! I am having problems putting the ice maker back together. I have the guides of the ice tray aligned with the four bolts, but the tray will not slide. Any suggestions? I wish i have seen the video earlier.
After about 15 minutes my fridge turns itself back on before the temp goes above 50° is there anyway to stop that?
bro saved me so much headache he knows more about the fridge than the guys who designed the crappy ice machine
I have a slight different model (fg4h2272uf) and the console is not the same. I did the hair dryer defrost a few months ago, but no ice. Finally figured out that I have a simple ice maker on/off setting. I only needed to turn it back on.
I followed the procedure when pushing the + to 26 on the left side is the letters CL please advise.
You can force a defrost without going through the test menus. Just hold the '+' and '-' buttons for 10 seconds. But in most cases that won't fix a frozen fill tube.
how do you get to the menu where you can turn off the ice maker? in the video you don't show that
Does the fridge shut off while it’s raising the temperature- the lights shut off inside? Will it automatically stop when it’s done raising the temperature???
Yes it will
Any advice if this doesn’t work
Still not working.. how many hours do I need to leave it off?
Run the process three times and leave it off for 24 hours.
@@manof1997 got it.
I had no clue I could increase the ice production like this!!
It worked, but I had to defrost it twice. Saved me a big repair bill.
Saved the vacation home on frequency of ice button. I drink a cold bourbon in your honor sir!
Thanks for suggestion. I found the increasing ice option and it worked!
You just saved my marriage!
You left ice maker ON, I thought you were to turn it off. My unit when in the OFF mode I get CL when in the 26 mode.. I f I leave it ON like you did and get to the 26 the display shows CL. In both case I do not see the temperature climb. any ideas for me
Having the same issue, I dont get a temp, I get CL instead
Heeeey my tray isn't filling with water - maybe this is the problem! Now, apparently the fridge has a defrost mode that you can activate if you hold the + and - at the same time... or something like that. Is that particular function different than doing it manually the way you did??
I have the same question.
Does this defrost the entire fridge, or just the ice maker? The reason I ask is because when I got to the setting 26, the entire fridge cut off. Probably a dumb question but I guess I need to take all the food out of the fridge during this process?
It only defrost the ice maker.
Thanks for the quick response! Going to attempt this for our fridge shortly..
One last question, how many times would you say I should run the defrost cycle? I’ve done it about 5 times, temps getting up in the mid 90’s.
What is that temperature reading when you go to the 26 setting? Is that the ice maker temp? I think mine keeps freezing at the water inlet.
Interesting, thanks for the tips. you are spot on. these things are garbage.
I am about to try this. Do I need to put a towel down under the ice maker for melting ice?
No need for a towel
Thanks, unfortunately my display lights are faded out so I can't tell when I get to 26.
Do you know what the other number options in this menu setting do?
My ice maker temp just said CL what does that mean it wasnt making any ice at also how will i be able to change the temp in the ice maker
Thanks for this video. My question is what do you mean by CL 26?
CL stands for close
My unit shows CL and just reset back by itself, do I need to redo the code again? Thanks!
Not sure what is up with ours not making ice. Is all we did was replace the faucets. And now the ice maker won't work.
I have a side freezer (not bottom). Will this make the temp go up in my entire freezer and thaw my food?
Sorry, no idea on that. Google its manual.
How do we get a list of codes and what they do?
is their a code for turning the water on for the ice maker
very helpful,saved me atleast $300 from a rep;air dude
Shout out to my boy for shooting in urlta wide 🙌
Should I put a towel in the fridge to prevent the water mess from defrosting?
Not really
So do I need first to turn the ice maker OFF from the menu, then access the #26 code?
Yes.
You got the big rust spot in the back yet? I
Insulated mine with foam an the ice maker doesn’t freeze up as bad
Did you just use expanding foam
@@hattrickvic nope bought some inch thick foam insulation from Lowe’s Cut out a piece and glued an double side taped it to the back of it man.
Dispense ice until you can pull it out 💡
@@scottsmith5323 I know that, but why is it happening .
I have the same problem. it is just the ice maker part is really badly engineered!!!
Dumb question but where is the air filter on this fridge. There is nothing behind the even temp logo where they go in most.. Please help
Not all models were equipped with them Mine is not.
Hi, I don't have a code 26 on my model? Any thoughts? Thanks
I counted you pressed 24 times but I can’t tell if that’s what I landed on 😔
Sorry question meant for Da Man
@@TheLori4222 Another reason these machines are junk. Our display went out a few months after the warranty was up.
I just followed the instructions and by doing this the fridge light also is off when the door is opened. Is this right? I’m worried the whole fridge is off during this process
Yes, it will turn off until it is done.
I get to the code 26 on my Gallery but it doesn’t show the degrees changing on the left. Just says CL 26 and sits there. Any idea on how to start up the process?
Once you get to code 26, leave it alone and it should start defrosting. No need to push any button.
@@manof1997 Thanks for the reply, however after a few minutes it just goes back to showing normal freezer and refrigerator temperatures. Never starts up on its own. Looks like yours but is 8 yr old model. I’m trying moving freezer temp to 2 degrees to see if that does anything
Mine is acting up again as well, do I have to remove the ice currently in the bin before trying this???
Yes, remove ice and repeat the process few times
@@manof1997 Thank You for responding, I will try this evening. I suppose I should do this frequently? What has been your experience since you discovered this?
@@manof1997 Tried this last night, I only get a "CL" on test 26, doesn't show the temp like yours does
What to do if the lower ice maker doesn't work?
