  • Dr. Rowe shows how to fix tailbone pain at home.
A common cause of tailbone pain (also known as coccydynia or coccygodynia) is due strain and inflammation in the muscles that support the coccyx (tailbone) and sacrum. This is commonly seen with prolonged sitting and poor posture.
Over time this strain leads to tightness, weakness, instability, and pain around the tailbone.
To fix this, this video will be broken up into two sperate parts that will focus on lengthening and strengthening these muscles. To get the best results, go through all exercises and use what gives you the most relief.
All of the exercises can be done at home, require no special equipment, and may give quick tailbone pain relief... even within 30 seconds.
Watch now and get rid of tailbone pain for good!

Dr. Michael Rowe has been my professional help and companion for a while now always with accurate well explained, positive, straight to the point and updated support. I've got L4-L5 and L5-S1 horrible pains and I dont wanna go out anymore, my friends call me "old" or simply avoid me because Im always on a bad mood or sad or I dont wanna talk much anymore because they don't really understand me or how I'm feeling. Indirectly Dr. Rowe stays with us sick fellows and sticks with our recovery, for this I deeply and honestly thank you from my heart, for being here and not leaving us behind like everybody else does.

Thank you so much for this one in particular. Fractured it several yrs. ago. Your presentations are so good. No ridiculous, annoying music, you’re not hopping around in crazy clothing. It’s professional, you speak clearly and succinctly. I really appreciate your work.
I don’t suppose there is anywhere to purchase a treatment table or something like it for a reasonable price 😂😂. It is a major detractor getting down on the floor on a yoga mat every day. Or a few days per week. Bed is too soft. Thank you!

I’ve had two tail bone accidents over a period of 30 years. The first one was cross country skiing and the second one was just recently when I fell off a bike and landed on my tail bone.. it was good to find your video on tailbone exercises after listening to a manual rehab therapist who was talking about back pain associated with tailbone injuries. That’s when I started looking for therapist, that focus on exercises for the tailbone.
Are you a manual therapist? Thank you for the video.. I’m so grateful for the RUclips channels they have giving me a lot of information on my demand. You guys are amazing.

I should add that most of your exercises are included in a typical hot yoga class like a power vinyasa flow class. Thank-you again.

Wow, have been having backache since 2-3 days and the exercise where we lie on the back, split the legs and then move them up…I could feel it on the glutes and after 5-6 repetitions of the same the pain almost vanished. Will do this every few hours now as I know currently the subsiding pain could be temporary since I would have saturated the muscle a bit.

Just had a "tailbone fall" off my bike. Researched a lot of pain relief exercises on this one was by far the best. What would be nice is a follow-up video with a follow-along exercise routine going through each exercise with the minimally prescribed reps before moving onto the next. Less explanation more practice. Under 10 minutes even better.

Do these exercises just relieve the pain momentarily or actually solve the problem?

Dr Rowe, I've been injured by a chiropractor. He "fixed" by cracking it and all the hip/lower back area. Now my psoas muscles on the left side hurts and crack when I flex my leg and put it up or sideways. It's very sensitive. I feel also that my hip is not aligned. Is there any exercices to fix this? I'm trying all of your hip exercices and so far it release the pain at some extent but the overall pain and this psoas cracking doesn't disappear. Thank you

Dr. Rowe, just a question you probably been asked a million times, but when it comes to sleeping at night, which position is best for your spine? On your back or on your side? I tend to start off on my back but always end on either side. I also place a pillow between my knees as this seems to help take some pressure off my hips?

    • @DrRowe
      @DrRowe  Год назад +9

Generally, on your back with a pillow under the knees.

Maybe a bit too advanced for me with my current health challenges. I managed a couple though. I find sitting on a small soft ball at base of spine etc helps too. Muscle atrophy with certain illnesses and age, makes getting back on top really challenging 😕

I have severe tailbone pain and I did the first part of the video and now I'm feeling better, but when can I start the second part? Today? Or should I just stick with the first part for a few days?
Anyway, thanks for the great exercises

Are the twisting and the exercises that when your lying down with your feet bent up on the floor and your pushing your button up off the floor are they good to do when you have a herniated & bulging disk and sciatica?

I don’t know when I hurt my tailbone. The pain started in 2020 and it increased after my last motorcycle ride in 2022. Will try these exercises from tomorrow morning. Using the coccyx pillow for sitting. The pain is unbearable when I sit without any support. Getting up from sitting position is a nightmare 😢

I’ve actually pretty much the same problem as you. There was no specific accident with my tailbone, it just came by the time. It began in 2019 and today it’s still extremely painful. I can’t barely sit. Had to sell my motorcycle because i wasn’t able to ride it due to the pain. I make a lot of sports my whole life, but since coccygodenia my life has changed a lot in the bad way. Can’t ride my bike since 2019, but I love cycling so much. Now I hope to find a solution on RUclips. Do you still suffer from your pain? Any advice for me?
      Greetings from Austria.

Oh my. I was at the gym today and I was on the leg curl machine (the one where you lay facing down) and I am in SO MUCH pain at the moment! My tailbone area is so SORE. I can hardly stand up straight. I’ve used this machine many times before so I’m just wondering what I did different this time.
And I have a 7 month old to look after.
    Wish me luck 😫

Hello Doctor, thank you so much for posting this video. I have had tailbone pain since the last one year and i am tired of carrying my pillow everywhere now. I know by doing these exercises my tailbone pain will go. Thank you once again.
Doctor please suggest which kind of shoe one should wear for daily travelling, as I have to travel by train to reach the office. I have to stand for at least one hour in the train.
Please suggest brand name and type of shoe, as there are many different types available in India.

Would you show us stretches or something that can be done to loosen surgery scars beside rubbing them? I just had (anterior) hip replacement surgery about 2 months ago and it is so tight from swelling by the incision. My Dr just suggests rubbing it w vitamin e but it's still so tight esp when I work out doing cardio, after I can barely walk from the tightness until I ice it down. Maybe suggest some deep stretches as well that help? Thank you!!!
