They fed us several times, each seat came with a blanket, and courtesy pouch inclusive of slippers, hygiene products, etc. Most important is the all you can drink in economy class! I've flown plenty of times alone and with my kids on turkish airlines in economy, over 15 hour flights every time. I never had the issues you mentioned in the video. The amenity kits are great, they always gave me menus and blankets however they aren't handing pillows because of covid 19.
    Last time I flew with them the cabin was beautiful, the service was great, I had free access to muffins and sandwiches whenever I wanted to go to the galley and get them and gave amenities for me, my 4 year old and my 1 year old, plus special amenities for my 4 year old that included kid headphones and a bag of very cute toys. I don't think it is fair to review during pandemic since a lot the things turkish airlines lost points here were things that used to be available before covid and they are still available on transatlantic flights.

    Dont forget to mention that Turkish Airlines and Qatar/Emirates dont have the same system at all. You said that several times but while Qatar and Emirates are specified only in international long haul flights, Turkish Airlines offers a high amount of domestic and short haul flights so it would have been much more sensefull if you compared Turksh Airlines to Airlines such as British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France/KLM or north American airlines such as United or AA. You also reviewd the latest cabine type on each Emirates and Qatar Airways while comparing the old Economy long haul of Turkish Airlines (wich is more common thats why i partly understand that).

    One of the big issues not mentioned is the 3x3x3 seating in Turkish vs 3x4x3 on the other two airlines. This is a massive difference if you have people sitting next to you. This extra column of seats is how they managed to get rid of the 747 and for most airlines the A380, ie by squeezing in an extra 60 or so passengers into economy. Night flights on these skinny seats is pure torture and should in fact not be legal for health reasons. Ive done Turkish overnight to Singapore from Istanbul which was not nice due to the poor food and entertainment but prefer that to a seat skinnier than Ryanair 737s. 787s are the same, designed to be 8 across but squished in 9. Also with Qatar airlines, twice they have switched aircraft on my routes, An A320 taking over from an A330.

  • @derensozer3914
    @derensozer3914 Год назад +46

    I found the experience described for Turkish Airlines to be very inconsistent with my own long haul experiences on Turkish. Ive been given both a food and drinks menu in economy and I’ve always had my own blanket, pillow and amenities kit. I’ve also been served snacks every time I’ve flown with Turkish, even domestically, and I’ve always found the cabin crew to be pleasant and friendly. I also feel that the vast content library on their in flight entertainment bears mentioning, though I will concede that the touch screens pretty terrible. Certainly Turkish does not go to the same lengths Emirates and Qatar when it comes to the cabin and feeling of sophistication, but I think that this portrayal of the airline is really selling them short and inaccurate in the broader picture.

Sometimes with Qatar it can be a hit or miss depending on how well Mr Baker treats his employees that week ! Price difference is not that much between Emirates and Turkish if you book in advance. Hi Dan, great sum up! I flew with only Emirates from Scotland to Thailand for many years and loved every minute of every flight. This sadly ended when they started to charge for seat selection in economy, @ £25 per flight this added £100 to a booking of approx £500 a whopping 20% rise overnight 😢
    I switched to Qatar and I'm delighted with their product although I would agree that the service is not as relaxed as Emirates.
    Qatar have also started to charge for seat selection in economy (free in economy "comfort " bookings) but I have not had to pay so far!
    In the cabin of the A350 I've always found the lighting to be relaxing and the leg room perfectly adequate.
    I've had A380 upper deck economy seats with both airlines and Emirates win that by a huge margin!

    I have taken many Turkish Airlines flights, especially LAX-Istanbul at least once every two months. I have also taken Dubai-LAX on Emirates. Emirates is definitely more consistent in quality.
    Turkish airlines planes often old, but sometimes new. Service is descent but not great. Examples: during main meal service there is never a follow up if a passenger wants a second piece of bread or drink and while picking up dinner trays coffee pots are visible on carts but rarely offered. It’s left up to the passenger to ask and I find that intimidating. There should be a clear coffee and after dinner drink service.
    Another example: during breakfast service you get one quick chance to ask for a drink and if you ask for orange juice you won’t get your coffee.
    Other airlines would have two people walking around with coffee and tea pots keeping suger and cream packs in their aprons and offering refills.

    Thanks for this review! I usually fly Qatar since I have One World premier status and like to ensure I get those points :)! But recently had the misfortune of flying Qatar in Economy for a completely full 12 hour flight, and the service and comfort was really horrible (by their standards that is). Everyone in the surrounding seats kept saying Emirates economy was much better, which led me here to your videos. I have to agree that Qatar offers impeccable in-flight service for business class passengers (I've flown Emirates business and found the service to be much more impolite and inattentive by comparison.). But, Qatar's economy service just does not live up to my expectations. So I'll definitely give Emirates economy a try - particularly after this review.

    Seems like my guess of Emirates winning is correct!
    Though worth nothing that Turkish have the increasingly-rare 3-3-3 seating on their 777s, while the other two have 3-4-3, which may be something to consider for some people. Under your scoring guidelines, I guess that's an extra 2 points to Turkish for something unique at a new total of 17 points, but still pretty far behind the other two.

    • @TheBudgetTraveller786
      @TheBudgetTraveller786 2 года назад +1

      While the 3-3-3 is clearly superior in terms of width on a 777, to make up for the one less seat per row, the legroom is tighter from what I've noticed on the other two carriers.

Since you have flown during the pandemic that might have been the cause for some of these things. Turkish airlines did always serve snacks and they do give out menus in the economy class. I am assuming do to covid they may have stopped. Since I was a child they always had lots of snacks to offer.

    I am so glad I was able to track down this vlog from your library. But, also a little disappointed because I will be flying Turkish Airlines economy in late July from NYC to BASEL via ISTANBUL. I hope I will be able to sleep once done with the meal service. I'm 5'5" so the leg room in economy will not be an issue. The 4hr layover at the Istanbul terminal should allow me enough time to get from my arrival gate to my transfer departure gate. The flt to Basel is only 3hrs. Upon my return I'm flying Business class from LHR to LAX via Istanbul with the same 4hr layover. I spent days comparing airlines and prices and Turkish came out on top based on the scheduling and price. But most of all they allow 2 checked bags, even in economy, when the other carriers only allowed 1 checked bag. Still screwing around with the seating. Thank you again for always supplying valuable information as well as your personal impressions. Wishing you and Oskar all the best.

    No surprise at the final outcome. I flew all 3 airlines and I would toss a coin between Emirates and Qatar. Since I'm not that tall so I'm not concerned about leg room. I'm more interested in details like price, arrival & departure times, type of plane and lay over length. I found food to be good on all 3 airlines. Turkish boarding can be chaotic and their crew hardly ever smile! It would be nice to see a comparison video between Emirates, Qatar and Singapore Airlines. Thanks for the upload.
