I followed your course and joined aeroplan but when i went to buy points it was 1,470cad for 45k points. Where can i get them for the 13cad per 1k you mentioned? @nonstopdan
I paid $1700 for a 14 hour flight from Sydney to Dubai on emirates premium economy and my experience was great. Totally worth it for me personally, with the extra room, privacy and how well we were catered to on our flight
Pro : for passengers who need more space. And you get extra luggage allowance depending on airline. Minus: it is very difficult to find flights with connections where all stretches are PE. Same here as Emirates launched it only in A-380. Minus 2: these seats are in great demand so prices go up months before departure
On the headphones: Emirates is one of the few airlines where you can connect your bluetooth headphones/airpods to the inflight entertainment system on each seat! It’s slightly buggy to connect at first but I’ve flown this route several times this year and always managed to make it work both in business and premium economy. 5:58
I live in JFK. For me to fly to the middle East, I typically use Emirates. JFK to Dubai on Emirates involves using the A380-800. It's a 13 hour ride (12hr:30min flight). The last time I did this, I flew in BUSINESS CLASS from, JFK to Dubai and then had to board a 777 to get to Maldives. Prior to that I flew Emirates I went to Seychelles. The Maybach style seats, the mini bar at my seat and the comfort made lounging while watching Star Wars movies absolutely comfortable. The lounges were spectacular. Open liquor bars, plenty of food on the buffet. I even had a 5 hour layover in DXB where I showered and then lounged through breakfast and lunch. The total cost was $5200. I can save up rewards points and money to vacation this way once a year!
Hardshell seats in the premium economy tend to disappear, unfortunately! Seat pitch are reduced on other airlines, making the higher recline angle actually an issue as when the passenger in front reclines, you have less space in front of you than in economy.
I refuse to take the SWISS slander, they have started to offer hot towels again in ALL classes as of November first, where they went fully back to pre covid procedures
@@NonstopDan I am not 100% sure but I think it was because of the crisis agreement with their Cabin Crew Union and because they were understaffed for a long time. Also if you really wanna know I can find out.
So happy to see this video! I just flew to Dubai for the first time roundtrip on Emirates from US a few weeks ago. I flew there in regular economy (13 hours) and back in premium (16 hours). The difference was about $700. I agree it probably wasn't worth it, but I wanted to experience at least two different Emirates cabins. I hated how little space I had once the person in front of me reclined. I also sort of liked the food better in economy lol. I'm not sure why. Maybe it 's portion size like you mentioned? Or just more snacks/more food that I actually liked? I did LOVE the bathrooms and the service though. 100000x times better than economy. Good call out about the first row having no one in front of you to recline. I usually avoid the first row on flights not wanting to be close to the restroom, but it might be worth it on another, shorter premium economy flight when I don't plan on sleeping. I will definitely watch your video on business class upgrades! I watched all your videos before booking my flights to see if I wanted to fly Emirates! You're amazing. Thanks for all you do!
Fun fact: Swiss is now offering hot towels at the beginning and end of the flight in business class! Just took them last week to Chicago and it was a nice touch in an overall DATED cabin
Spot on Dan. ,I thought it was only me who was not convinced about the economics. Seat recline is a real issue. The different experience between an ailse seat two rows from the front and a mud seat two rows from the back was significant on my return flight, 14 hours each way.
Since I first flew premium economy with Delta, I stuck with it. I fly to the US couple a times a year from the Netherlands on my own dime. Whether it is "worth the money" completely depends on your personal preferences. In fact, to be fair, no it is not worth the money. But I like the comfy seats, the space and the intimate cabin. I will pay for that, although realistically, it is not worth 3 or 4 times the price of an economy ticket. I simply pay it because well why not.
I read something awhile ago that premium economy is the most profitable seats for the airlines. It makes sense as the airlines are providing passengers with 20-30% more in room and service (compare with economy) but charge 100% more in price. How the airlines get away with this, make business class even more expensive so the finance department force middle management staff take premium economy despite the lack in values. Personally, I would look for a cheap business class seat rather than look for premium economy.
this business is mostly for corporate trips imho, budget rules do not approve biz or 1st for medium management travel, "economy" sounds way better. We have rules based on lenght of trip, rank etc.
I flew this LHR - DXB just before it was officially launched where it was a cheap upgrade from Y, and that flight alone made me book LHR-SYD via DXB. It was amazing over that distance and very price competitive. I've flown many PE cabins (BA, VS, SQ, QF, AA, AC) and this has the edge over them all.
As a larger person, i fly premium economy when available, though never yet on Emirates. For a smaller person, i don't think there's a lot of point as it's usually overpriced. Plus you can't lift the armrest to spread into the seat next to you if it's free.
Just looked up some A380 Emirates routes out of JFK. I 100% have this aircraft on my aviation list to fly on. This video just made me even more interested
Emirates has Premium Economy seats on their A380 Dubai/Sydney/Christchurch service. I agree with most of Dan's comments. I paid additional A$220.00 for Emirates Lounge access in Sydney. There is dedicate boarding Skyway at Sydney Airport for Premium Economy passengers. With regards to service, it was okay with Premium Economy crew staying in the Gallery taking among themselves, which re-enforces my belief, that Emirates is an over rated airline, the provide minimal service unless you are in First Class.
@@NonstopDan - From a Southern Hemisphere point of view, I have Emirates flown in Economy Class with service on the same par as Qantas Economy but not as good as Singapore Airlines Economy, Business Class which was underwhelming, once gain the crew weren't interested in their work and I have to say Qantas Business Class service exceed Emirates and First Class which is world of it own.
Cool vlog!! Wow I've flown in Premium Economy in different parts of the world on various airlines and I've usually been ... underwhelmed. But I'm impressed that Emirates does it right!!!
As someone who just started building their miles point and doesn’t travel that often AND is paying for it myself to go back to my home country that took atleast 14 hours (not claimable from company so no business class for me) i appreciate this and all of the comparisons with other flights!😊
Thanks dan. We tried this from London to Auckland, which was a pretty good stretch ! It was excellent, with the cabin less than half full. Well worth it if you cannot afford to go upstairs and arrvied in top shape.
Contemplating next trip to Australia ex-UK. I did it in 2018 business with Finnair for £3k (just me), HEL-HKG-SYD. Terrific. Now p/e is 2.5 - 3x economy price; about £3k - 3.2k with the main carriers. I've travelled p/e before (didn't used to be quite such a £££differential) and found I didn't get a lot more/better rest overnight, which is the real point. So no, at 3x economy, not worth it. Sooner have a little more discomfort, mainline some Sominex and use the £000s saved for treats at the far end. Business now about £12k+ for two pax on the Aussie trip so won't be doing that again. That's like paying £3k pn for a hotel and I just can't/wouldn't. Is it me or have non-econ fares gone insane?
The pricing model right now doesn't really make a strong case for Premium Economy, that is for sure. Premium Economy should never be 3 times the cost of a one-way economy ticket given that your cost v/s benefit exercise is not quite there & the proposition isn't strong enough. To Dan's point though, as the network develops & more PE seats are added, the cost will be diluted to be in line with market standards.
I feel that US airlines have a better grasp on pricing for premium economy. Yes, their service isn’t as good as what we see here, but the price is usually much closer to normal economy.
Balaton Lake at 12:00 :D but on a serious note - a lot of corporations are cutting costs at strongly suggesting staff not to travel business but use PE for long haul. that is another case why PE is full many times, even when it is more expensive than BC
Great start to the series. It does beg the question why pay more for premium economy than business class? Nevertheless it looked comfortable. Looking forward to your critiques of the other airlines. Stay well.
Hi Dan Well I have to be honest Emirates products are one of the best in the skies. I will agree that it is more expensive now, however it is a relatively new product and as you said isn't really retrofitted to all of their aircraft's yet. Prices fluctuates from time to time so I don't believe that it will remain like this always, maybe it might be cheaper as they roll the product onto all other aircraft's.
Thanks for covering Premium Economy, Dan. It doesn't seem to get a lot of love from the flight vlogger community. That looks very luscious and I'd pay the extra to fly it if the price is right and the flight duration was long enough.
I paid for an extra legroom seat in economy (with points) for my 16.5hr flight from Dubai -> Auckland, seat 80J. Felt like an economy+ experience, and I was able to have a good nap with my legs stretched out fully. I'm 6'6"
@Dan: The snack part isn't any better in Business Class during my recent (2 weeks ago) trip from DXB to SFO. When I went to ask for something that is salty, like a bag of Potato chips, the response at the lounge was, sorry we don't have any. The stewardess goes on to say that while she has some in the plane, she can't give them to me, because they are reserved for the plane returning back from SFO to DXB. Seriously???? Why can't they load those Kettle Potato Chips (made in the USA) again? Given that I am a vegetarian, i came back to my seat licking my finger for some salt! Not that I have other complaints about their overall product/service in Business, this one was truly disappointing... (Small things make a bigger impression!! )
Great video Dan! I really enjoyed the video and EK Premium Economy looks pretty good maybe amazing but for the price… Eh? I am not sure it’s worth the $1,500 PRICE AT ALL! What a great video so cheers 🥂 my friend! Caleb’s Aviation 😅
I flew EH Premium Economy to / from DBX in A380 not long after it launched. I had Row 1 (wall in front) on the way over and middle seat on the way back. I have only ever done these long haul flights in Business (Etihad / Singapore / Qatar). I thought the EY PE was fine - great seat, service, meals etc and certainly a great alternative to Economy for not that much extra $$'s.
I just flew this product from Dubai to Houston. 16.5 hours and cost about $845 to upgrade upon check-in. I feel like it was the only reason I wasn't dead at the end of such a long slog.
For some from the uk flying between TPE and BNE, Star Alliance program would you recommend? Singapore seems the easiest to get gold status with, but I know Canada Air are good for transferring to other airlines. Thoughts...
Great premium economy review! Hope we see more economy/PE reviews in the future, I used to love economy weeks! I feel like Emirates pricing has gotten a bit out of hand, even their economy is pricey now. Looks like a great product, but I'd definitely not want to be stuck in the window/middle seats with the recline and immovable armrests 😬
Did this exact same route w/ Emirates in Premium Economy and I loved it! I’m not sure what time of day you flew but we got afternoon tea served, as well as lunch, and I was STUFFED. Couldn’t get enough of the lemon mint drink as well!
I have flown first and business class on the A380 numerous times. The first class is a totally different league, and business is super comfortable. Curious to try their premium economy.
12:18 did I just hear Dan saying SAS is better than Emirates even though its only in 2 areas?!?! Never through it would hear that being said from anyone especially not Dan...
I'm looking for a premium economy solution the next time I go long haul, but my options are really hard based on where I'm flying to and from. I hope more airlines (especially SE Asian) adopt this class. EK's premium economy looks really good for what it says but the price is concerning and the limited routes pending on flights with A380 service don't help my situation. Also DXB has aged terribly compared to 10 years ago, it's clearly gone through the stresses of being a hub-spoke airport. Not worth it unless you're going to hang out at the Emirates lounges for the rest of the day, which obviously isn't included in the premium economy fare.
Hey Dan I would just like to tell you that in every class of Emirates, whether it is Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class, and First Class, the Emirates cabin crew will offer hot towels, usually before departure, or even before landing. Great video though 👌
I agree, I love the space in Premium Economy but the moment someone reclines the full way it’s worse than coach. I’ll be avoid this money maker for airlines until they sort out the recline issue.
I can't speak for the premium economy experience, but I flew economy on the a380 with Emirates from the UK to NZ and back. The cabin temperature was freezing, the quality of service from the crew was very inconsistent and the seats were horrendously uncomfortable. Much like Dubai itself, I feel like Emirates is all style with little substance.
Hi Nonstop Dan, i am planning a trip on emirates and wanted to ask you what are the best economy seats with a nice wing view? or premium economy? shukran
I frequently fly domestic business (in the US & Europe) and try to fly premium economy internationally. Considering I have a lot of allergies and rarely eat on flights, even on my longest flights that are 15/16+ hours. But I kind of tall, and usually can get access to a lounge based on status or through my credit cards. There are only three rules I consider when choosing to fly premium economy: 1. Is the flight long enough to justify it? My soft rule is if it's 7+ hours during the day, then yes it's worth it at least 7 times out of 10, 9 out of 10 it if it's the longest leg of my route pairing, and 10 out of 10 if it's on my way home, with a window seat, because at least itll make me a little less sad because my vacation is over. 2. Is it at least a different seat than economy? If it isn't then no, never ever buy that ticket. I only break that rule on domestic business class in the US, because it usually isn't more expensive than a comparable refundable economy ticket, and is often more flexible even as a non-refundable business class ticket (domestics US Business class that is) 3. If rules 1 and 2 are not completely satisfied, then Is there a window seat available on that flight? If not then there's next to 0 reasons for me to buy that ticket, regardless of my previous two rules, with very few exceptions, in fact in the handful of times I had to use rule 3, it has never resulted in me buying a premium economy ticket. Since round experience, and food are basically non-factors, I will glady suffer through a long flight and use that money during the trip instead.
Thanks for your reviews! I always loved premium economy. I tried British Airways premium; it was decent. Never tried Emirates premium; its price is close to business class. Could you please do a RUclips on affordable premium economy?
The seats are more comfortable BUT recline right into the lap of the person in the seat behind so if you’re unlucky enough to get someone in front of you who wants to fully recline for the entire flight to Dubai from Sydney and you’re in the window seat then you are basically trapped! Next time I’ll just go for exit row seats for sure.
Interesting comment you make Dan about tho amount of uplift for PE you think reasonable. We live in New Zealand and our national carrier Air NZ will routinely charge 200-300% more to travel PE than economy. E.g. fares now from Auckland to the US are around $1,000 for economy and $2,500 for PE (both one way fares - the return leg is always more expensive 😀).
Premium Economy is very glamorous on Emirates A380s 😮. I heard they are bringing the Premium Economy to 53 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft soon along with a new 1-2-1 Business Class (Breaking News!). I wish Emirates could refurbish Premium Economy on their 10 Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, which has a 2-2-2 Business Class instead of the 2-3-2 you have already flown on the Boeing 777-300ER from Tunis to Dubai, despite having the same cabin width. Anyways, I enjoy watching your videos, which have a great sense of humour 😂.
I paid $1700 AUD extra for premium economy from Moscow to Sydney last week. From Moscow to Dubai (6 hours) premium economy wasn't available, only the flight from Dubai to Sydney. Nice cabin and crew, but I don't believe the premium economy experience was worth the extra money.
Do you feel that the seats reclining in Premimum Economy help with resting more and getting good sleep? I am asking because I want to travel from Australia to Dubai and need to rest my back and sleep.
I only paid 100€ extra to upgrade to premium economy with Cathay in a 12h flight fro Madrid to Hong Kong. Really worth it. I don't think that extra is worthy on Emirates in a 6 hour flight.
when you’re not a large person, although we’d all prefer more space, premium is often double the price! I’d rather spend the money and upgrade my hotel than be slightly more comfortable for just a few hours
I live in NZ and so it is around 18 hours to Dubai. I bought seat 35D with no seat in front. That was the first mistake as there is no foot rest only thigh support. This quickly becomes uncomfortable. Although the seats are slightly larger they don't recline enough to make sleeping easy. These are no lazy boy chairs! People will still need to climb over you to go to the toilet etc. The food was certainly better than economy but wines were uninspiring. Emirates buisiness class is the way to go if you have deep pockets. My opinion is save the 3000 dollars extra over economy. Fly Singapore Airline economy, picking your seat carefully and fly 12 and 12 hours to Europe stopping off in Singapore for a night or two each way. You will still be quids in and arrive in better shape and I did that with young children. I thoughts are that no it is not worth the money.

A quick flash of an AFL game featuring Port Power on another passenger's screen...👍 around 8:50
EY PE? Etihad doesn’t have premium economy
Whoops - I meant Emirates@@AlexanderGeorge
I just flew this product from Dubai to Houston. 16.5 hours and cost about $845 to upgrade upon check-in. I feel like it was the only reason I wasn't dead at the end of such a long slog.
I flew this from Dubai to Melbourne last month and was SO impressed!
I’m so looking forward to the premium econ week. I recently travelled premium econ with ANA and I love it 🥰
Are you going to review Swiss premium economy?
For some from the uk flying between TPE and BNE, Star Alliance program would you recommend? Singapore seems the easiest to get gold status with, but I know Canada Air are good for transferring to other airlines. Thoughts...
Great premium economy review! Hope we see more economy/PE reviews in the future, I used to love economy weeks!
I feel like Emirates pricing has gotten a bit out of hand, even their economy is pricey now. Looks like a great product, but I'd definitely not want to be stuck in the window/middle seats with the recline and immovable armrests 😬
Thanks! Yeah, their pricing is crazy across the board😅
Meal looks same as the EK meal I got in my US economy flight on EK. Though flying on 10hr plus flight from the US it might be worth it.
Do the back seats recline less than the other seats infront?
That looks like generous recline which no US carriers can match
12:18 did I just hear Dan saying SAS is better than Emirates even though its only in 2 areas?!?! Never through it would hear that being said from anyone especially not Dan...
Cheers for the video Dan ,,,do you recommend emirates business class from London to Manila,,,peace and happiness on your travels 😊😊😊😊😊
Hey Dan
I would just like to tell you that in every class of Emirates, whether it is Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class, and First Class, the Emirates cabin crew will offer hot towels, usually before departure, or even before landing.
Great video though 👌
I've flown JAL premium economy which was pricy but the pods were closer to business class though not semi-manual flat seating.
Much like Dubai itself, I feel like Emirates is all style with little substance.
anyone got insights about the random aeroflot plane in 7:09 ?
Hi Nonstop Dan, i am planning a trip on emirates and wanted to ask you what are the best economy seats with a nice wing view? or premium economy? shukran
Congrats to 800k subscribers 🎉
If you want the best premium economy seat it is Qantas on an A380-800, it feels like business without a lie flat seat
They do give an amenity kit in Premium Economy to London if your flight departs before 7am in the morning, not completely sure about the timing tho.
Thanks for your expertise and personal estimation. Lots of luck for 2024, Dan! 🎉🍀✈️
There are only three rules I consider when choosing to fly premium economy:
I only break that rule on domestic business class in the US, because it usually isn't more expensive than a comparable refundable economy ticket, and is often more flexible even as a non-refundable business class ticket (domestics US Business class that is)
I like your videos,Dan.Theyre so good!
Do you know if they will have those seat out of dulles airport?
I change the like from 1.4k to 1.5k and congratulations on 800k subs
Premier economy on emirates look like the old business class seats on SAS
Hi, the lavs for premium economy are LAV 1MA,1MB and 1MC..they are in a row, as per the image one lav is in cockpit 😅
Hi bro epic vidieo . I am also going to fly the Emirates premium economy to Banglore coming Monday. Thanks a lot for sharing this vidieo.
Thanks for your reviews! I always loved premium economy. I tried British Airways premium; it was decent. Never tried Emirates premium; its price is close to business class. Could you please do a RUclips on affordable premium economy?
can you please do a qantas premium economy class please. love the content
I wonder how you credited your flight to AC - I never had the choice, is there any trick to it?
Wait isnt Aeroflot russian? No sanctions for them there?
Only banned from most of Europe and the US
@@TriggLu Aha
The seats are more comfortable BUT recline right into the lap of the person in the seat behind so if you’re unlucky enough to get someone in front of you who wants to fully recline for the entire flight to Dubai from Sydney and you’re in the window seat then you are basically trapped! Next time I’ll just go for exit row seats for sure.
Never flown or spotting an Airbus A380 but maybe in the future somehow. Btw, congratulations for you reaching 800K subscribers🎉
Hello Dan, what are your thoughts about what Josh Cahill went through with Qatar Airways?
A few things, I've never had an airline meal that satisfied me. I've never flown first class n probably never will, even though I can afford it.
Great review. Helped me decide against the very pricey premium economy ticket. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Pls review british airways prenium economy
I paid $1700 AUD extra for premium economy from Moscow to Sydney last week. From Moscow to Dubai (6 hours) premium economy wasn't available, only the flight from Dubai to Sydney. Nice cabin and crew, but I don't believe the premium economy experience was worth the extra money.
Do you feel that the seats reclining in Premimum Economy help with resting more and getting good sleep? I am asking because I want to travel from Australia to Dubai and need to rest my back and sleep.
I flew return lhr-dxb last month for 1,800 pounds. Idk where you're getting those prices from.
They shouldn’t have used the name part “economy” but just the Premium.
This would make a very good series
just travelled MEL to DXB premium economy Emirates but it cost me around $5000 aud return...how do you manage to do business class cheaper???
Nice Allbirds shoes. A favourite of mine for flying in.
It’s ridiculous to ask for more food/snacks and not receive it!
Thank you for sharing this nice flight.😊😊
Happy Chanukah Dan and Oscar!
