How to Survive Flying Emirates Economy Class (Top Tips)

- I flew Emirates A380 economy class from Dubai to Zurich. In the video, I gave 8 good tips on how to survive or how to enjoy economy class flying. I am sure you will benefit from some of the tip I gave!
The video also shows you the children's kit and meal on Emirates. Also Ramadan Iftar boxes are shown in the video. Enjoy the magnificent forward wing view with engine on the A380!
--------
Join me for a relaxed and fun flight from Dubai to Zurich with Emirates. I travel aboard the Airbus A380 aeroplane in Emirates economy class and I reveal eight tips and tricks on how you can enjoy and get the most out of your economy class flight. We can’t all experience the luxury of flying first class but this video aims to show that it certainly isn’t impossible to have a very enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable flight in economy class with just a little prior planning, research and thought.
In this video, I also specifically examine some of the comforts offered by the Emirates airline within their economy class to help their customers. One thing we focus on is Emirates’ provision for children and we examine the complimentary items including blankets, bibs, baby wipes and colouring in books which are given out to families with young children.
Tip #1 - Even if you’re flying in economy class, try and access a credit card lounge before the flight to make yourself more comfortable and prepared for boarding. You’re more likely to start the flight in a better mood and in a more positive state of mind, especially if you’ve had to wait at the airport for a while, if you’ve had something to eat, had a comfortable seat to sit on and been in relaxed and more quiet surroundings. If you are not eligible to enter one of these lounges, consider paying for entry; it is likely to be well worth your investment as one of the biggest reasons why people do not enjoy their flight in economy class is because they were not in the right frame of mind to begin with.
Tip #2 - Use a website such as expertflyer.com to see where clusters of empty seats are on the flight that you wish to take. By using this website, you may be able to purchase seats from the airline’s website which are in a quieter spot, with less people surrounding you. expertflyer.com can show real time seat maps for your flight up to one hour before the departure of the flight, letting you make an informed decision as to the best seat location for you in economy class.
Tip #3 - Use a website such as seatguru.com to get to know the layout of the economy class on your flight better so that you can select more advantageous economy seats with views over the engines, or, perhaps most importantly, with more leg room. There’s almost always a few economy seats with much, much more leg room than others because of the free space that has to be left in front of the aircraft’s mid-placed emergency exit.
Furthermore, after coming on board, if there’s a very favourable seat which is vacant and unsold, grab it before anybody else does!
Tip #4 - If you can, travel in the low season when fares are lower and when planes are less crowded. Low season months are February, May and November.
During my flight in Emirates economy class, I was able to move around to a large number of different seats as, travelling in May, it was low season. I was also able to lie down over a complete row of four economy seats and get a quality rest as if I was in business class, but without business class prices! If you can, it certainly pays dividends to travel in economy class when it’s less busy in the low season.
Tip #5 - Always bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated and avoid excessive alcohol consumption which can dehydrate you. Additionally, always bring an eye-shade with you so that you can get quality rest whenever you need it; these are provided on some longer haul flights but it’s always best to have your own, just in case.
Tip #6 - Wear something loose and comfy to promote good well being and also good blood circulation whilst you’re up in the air. This is especially important when the flight is crowded and/or there isn’t a lot of leg room and movement is restricted. This follows on to…
Tip #7 - Wherever possible, stretch your limbs and walk around the cabin - it doesn’t just help keep your blood circulating in what can be a cramped economy class but it keeps your mood happy too. Feeling confined and restricted in economy class is a big source of uncomfortable economy class flights.
Tip #8 - Stay smiling and stay positive whenever travelling in economy class. Don’t forget to bring your headphones with you to listen to some of your favourite tunes whilst you’re in the sky!
I really want to hear your opinion - do you have any thoughts about what makes for a good trip in economy class? Is there anything that you swear by? Leave your comments down below and, as always, thanks for watching!
Economy on Emirates A380 is not a surviving
It's a pleasure.
True. It's also only a 6 hour flight, one of the shorter routes that Emirates offer
especially when its empty.

I once got the amazing opportunity to fly as an unaccompanied minor on Emirates flying in between Ireland and South Africa and emirates staff were kinda enough to let me move to first class on the flight! When I borded the flight I was economy class but soon after the staff came to me and asked me if I wanted a “cool seat” 14 year old me, with no hesitation said sure and they moved me to 1st class for the rest of the flight to dubai where I was taken to the kids lounge and had an amazing time there, 4 hours after my lay-over I got on another flight to South Africa (O.R Thambo) and once again I got on the flight and was asked if I wanted a better seat and I said “I don’t mind” the flight attendant smiled and took me to first class! This was amazing and Emirates is my favourite airline!! I know many other airlines probably would do the same but because this was my first time flying alone and they treated me so nicely and offered me nothing but the best was an absolute blast and I had so much fun on board!
As I'm soon doing a solo UK/Brisbane trip with them, could you give me any tips on how to behave like a 14 year old please........🤣
I might going from athens to new york next year when im 14 as an UM in economy and im gonna be so happy if this happens
Emirates first class is like a dream
Thats awesome❤
Im 15... Will it still work?
Another tip: Don't be afraid to order another meal.
Airlines have so much leftovers they have to throw them out and they're more than happy to give you more.
literally just found the last couple of years, often tell you to grab another wee bottle of wine too.
Do they give it for free or do you purchase it?

I know, right? I've only ever flown economy. It's not comfortable, but the fact that we can even afford to travel at all means we are better off than most people in the world. Oh come on emirates economy is also luxurious fly in a low end flight with your legs squeezed and hear the others snoring with minus 100 entertainment

Sure Game on! Always wanted to do a vlog on Ryanair! Let's do one soon!
I had the best experience with flying emirates. In fact it was my first time flying ever. I had a huge huge fear of flying. I always told all my friend and family that I would never ever fly, I would rather die. But then I met someone from Indonesia and decided to face my fears (granted I did research how to get there by train, cruise ship, even freighter ships. But that was extremely costly)... For the flight I received xanax from my doctor so I would stay calm. At Brussels airport, I also asked for special assistance (I have a form of ASD, so I can get that) to guide me to the gate and let the crew know my fears and that it was my first time flying. I got to board the airplane first, and a flight attendant came to let me know what will happen (although I knew exactly what would happen and when since I am ironically extremely fascinated by airplanes). It is more the not having any control at all when flying that gives me fear. Thankfully the medication sedated me a lot so my fears mellowed away significantly. When we where in the air one of the flight attendant came to me to have a chat and check if I was doing okay. She then invited me to come to the galley in the back. There I had a chat with all the other flight attendants, they showed me where everything was and how they did their job. Afterwards, they took a Polaroid picture of me with the whole crew, signed by the whole crew. A huge thanks to the entire crew for putting me so at ease on that flight. It was highly appreciated, it helped more than you could ever imagine. Thank you Pasia, Mariana, Hassan, Liane and Mouhamed from flight Ek184 8 October 2019 BRU - DXB.
I flew this from Milan to JFK. I was stuck in the very last row with my family because air travel is a mess this summer. The flight attendant actually went around to take pictures of families! We got a Polaroid in a little frame. I haven't really traveled much but this airline really made a great impression!

Exactly he had it easy.
I think he is making commercial for Emirates airline thats why he got these seats
Is Sam advertising Emirates Business Class by talking low of Economy?
He did plug a website which shows how to find empty seats but ok then
I also think this is pretty useless information if you're flying in a flight that full. Real waste of time watching.

I can’t believe that Sam has gotten so used to flying in luxury he forgets that this is how everyone enjoys aviation
i agree, ive never been on emirates, but i have been on turkish. from what ive heard emirates is better. and the turkish one itself was much more expensive then united or something.
Honestly flying economy is flying economy, it’s no more comfortable than other airlines. What Emirates is excellent at is its service which makes you feel a lot more at ease, however the seats, legroom, etc are relatively similar to other international airlines.
I used to love flying economy but when suddenly my dad took me on business class for the first time, I started to enjoy economy just a little less😅
Indeed ' survive' is not appropriate word. Even if the food with simple standard pasta does not seem wonderfull, Emirates, with its planes, inflight entertainment and good service surely remains one of the best airlines of the world

Yes. I have had much room for me to find economy seats so comfy. It was an American airline flying to cross the time between December 31, 1999 and January 1, 2000. There wasn't many people flying at that timing since some transition between the centuries was said to be at risk and I barely remember businesses were intimidated. (I left Narita late at night of Dec 31, 1999 and arrived in San Francisco next day, evening or late Dec 31. I had the year 2000 new year two times kind of.)
My best tip about flying in economy is, be lovely and polite to the crew! It's a really tough job, and they do enjoy being appreciated. In return they will make sure you're well looked after. I've had lovely conversations, and even an additional dessert on occasions from the Emirates crew that made my flying experience just that bit sweeter

Sam is 100% right. My long haul tips follow, I am not a frequent flyer btw. 1) Fly on an A380 for long haul. 2.) Pay extra for an aisle seat 3.) Avoid proximity to baby bassinet areas 4.) Select your seat very early, you might get lucky & not have anyone sitting in the middle seat. 5.) Bring an extra jersey in case it gets cold 6.) Choose a seat close but not too close to the toilets 7.) Try to get plenty of sleep before your flight. 8.) Bring your own headphones, they will be much better than what the airline provides. 9.) Don't book tight connecting flights or you will spend half the journey stressing out! 10.) Have some games, music, etc on a phone or tablet in case the IFE does not work. Maybe a book as well.
another tip. Go trawled a closer seat to the front of the part of the cabin. When I was flying on business class on the lufthansa 747-8, they ran out of a meal i wanted because i was in the back.

Thank you Sam for this review. Me and my family watched it. We’re going on an Emirates A380 from Dubai back home, LA. I’m seated in 49K. Thanks again!
I think a lot of y’all had misinterpreted what sam actually meant. I am sure Sam didn’t mean to offend anyone, he regularly doesn’t fly economy and just emphasized that he’s actually flying economy for once and not premium cabins. I am also sure his point of saying “how to SURVIVE economy” was to say that there is many joys of emirates economy and how to make economy more of a luxury for people as it already may be. I believe his main goal was to give tips on just how to make economy really enjoyable, He could’ve worded it a little better to not make it sound like he was saying economy in emirates is a “Difficult”way to travel but i am sure he didn’t mean to offend anyone.
Flew this same service two years back. A good experience.
