Hey J, J & A!!!! Can we see pictures of you guys before dreads? I’m curious how Azaleas hair will look as it sounds like it’ll probably be curly!!! ❤️❤️
Beautiful video! I had my dreads for six years and I cut them right before my wedding. I had short hair for 2 1/2 years and I just recently put my dreads back in, it is week two and my biggest regret is that I cut them in the beginning. I plan to keep them and I found that shaving my sides and the back is so comforting to my neck you can’t tell that my sides and back are shaved I have super thick hair. I also learned a very valuable lesson, I believe that cutting my hair I had lost a lot of strength, now the dreads are back in and I will regained my strength. I had realize this going through the cutting journey and the events that happened within the new dread journey a completely fascinated experience and it has only been two weeks. I feel more grounded, more connected with nature and completely balanced mind body and spirit. This is my journey that I have experienced.
Idk if it’s because I’m high but watching their videos is making me so emotional. Raw beauty & soul that is so hard to find in this world. @@jayyyyk419 you all can't be wrong . My daughter has me self conscious so I refuse to hear the negative and embrass this venture with making memories with locs.
I just want to say my struggle with my demons is the awaking to who I am and sobriety has me a self perspective that I may have missed had i not traveled that dark road . Refreshing to hear honesty .
I’m a 66 year old German/Irish woman and found this episode fascinating. Lots of information I never knew I wanted to learn about. You are a fascinating couple and have an adorable little girl. Pleased I stumbled upon your page a couple of months ago.
Thank you guys! I love how your dreds have a sacred quality to them and a huge part of your journeys. I see ppl with beautiful locks here in Missoula and I always compliment them. I started putting locks in my hair a few years ago, I was only able to do the top ,sides and a bit if the back. I used a bent fork to back comb. I wish I never took them out. I always have my hair in a bandanna because I do not like messing with my hair. I think I will start them again! Once again thanks and much much love❤
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid 😁 I'm on my 3rd and final natural hair journey. I'm 63 and my hair was thinning so now they're locked in 😉 I'm also having great results from taking Biotin for new growth, I actually have baby hairs now 😍 Love watching, you guys rock! Peace 💛
...and what a journey it is. I’ve been growing my locs for 6 years now and that 1st year was not easy. I thought they would never grow. By the 2nd year, they took off and are now down my back close to the rump. At times I want to cut them off, but I look terrible with short hair 😃
I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant and plan to start my fairy locs journey shortly before or after giving birth. Love the whole feeling in this video and can't wait to start 💕
For those you thinking of using Castile soap in their locks, don't do it if you have hard water. It will build up to like white mush inside your locks. It came out over time when I switched back to baking soda but some people don't pay as much attention to their locks and the buildup can get to a point they can't handle and they end up doing something drastic. Beware!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I've been rocking my locks for 6 years this December. Just had about seven inches trimmed off. They were getting a little heavy. I love my locks!
Sam Magny which history and culture? The history of Indians, Celts, Africans, Aborigines or native Americans? No intention to be mean or hurt someone, but I often hear people Claiming Dreadlocks as „their property and history“ when in fact they are the property of the person who wears it and they occured in different cultures.
I think it's so amazing that you have used your dreads as a beautiful way to cope with stress that life throws your way. When I'm ready to start that journey I'm sure that dreads will be exactly what I need. Maybe round two will be more successful then the first time. Thanks so much for the tips. I'll be looking into your products when I'm ready to start that journey. Thanks so much! Have a beautiful day!🤗😊
Thank you for making this video!!! I had dreads for about two-ish years, and wasn’t ready for them. I think I’ll give them another go here soon though. I miss my dreads a lot some days. I took the same tools I used to form my dreads, and used that to brush them out. It took about two weeks all together! I didn’t want to shave my head, and didn’t know if brushing out would work, but a pile of hair and some patients later it worked. I love that you made this video!!! You guys have stunning dreads 💜
Love the video I am starting my dread journey very soon I've wanted them most of my life but my ex husband hated them but hes now no longer my husband and finally I'm doing something for me and how feel my hair should be thank you mand uk x

Hey Guys, So first of all I REALLY ENJOYED THIS VIDEO and I am a supporter of your page and your journey! However, just a quick history lesson, If you don't mind :) Your hair should be referred to as "Locs" because your hair is "locked." The word "Dreadlock" came about during the time of slavery in America. African slaves who had locked hair were told that they looked "dreadful" from their white oppressors. The white crews would bring the enslaved Africans up on deck to wash them off. They saw that the thick hair of the Africans was full of vomit, blood, and feces from the trip to America from Africa and their hair had matted into "dreadful locks". Hence the word "Dreadlock" was born. I think you both are amazing people and I don't mean to be negative BY ANY MEANS. I just thought you'd like to know :)
It seems as though there is a definable "spiritual significance" to ur dreads. You both have a wonderful spirit about you so whatever takes in life to achieve this I say rock it! Azalea already beams with a wonderful spirit, so lovely. Peace to you✌
1) Awesome video! Very educational and I loved every minute of it. Thank you! 2) JUBY! Go on with your bad self! I have my sides shaved with a big ol Mohawk right now and I’m LOVING it. Different lengths give me different styles to go with even in the Mohawk world. Have fun with the dreads and get excited for that shave! ❤️❤️
Dreadlocks are the best hairstyle to me and i wish my dreads was long enough so I can sit on mine haha it’s getting there 😊 L💓VE your video guys!! You two are very beautiful people
I have always wanted dreads, but my hair is so thin, I would probably look ridiculous. I love how you address the ridiculous things that people assume because you have dreads. You are each beautiful souls inside and out, if others don't see that; it's their loss. Loved seeing little Azalea starting to take those precious beginning steps! Soon you will be chasing her everywhere!😃 Can't wait for the next video, until then may you be surrounded by love, laughter, and joy!❤💋
Tammy Lockley I think dreadlocks are great for thin hair and was a big reason I finally got dreads. They thicken up over time so it actually gives you a full head of hair. I have since brushed out my dreads but am growing out my hair so I can go back to dreads. If you have always wanted them you should definitely try, and you will likely wonder why you waited so long to do it, but if you decide it doesn’t look right for you then you can always brush them out!
@@bestwholeworld5276 thank you for the advice. I might have to try them out. And as you said, if they don't work, I can just brush them out. I hope that you are enjoying a beautiful day!❤💋

I just found your channel and I'm so excited to see the rest of your videos. I've had my dreads for 3 and a half years. I've grown to love them so much. What a great hairstyle! They are growing and I can't wait for them to be really long. Love your family's energy!
My dreads are 3 1/2 yrs free form. Thanks for inspiring me to give them a washing! It’s hard for me to want to wash when it’s cold and they take 9 hours to dry! All fresh and clean!!
I love both of your dreads they r so gorgeous, mine r 3 years old and definitely the best piece of advice is to be patient🤘,I don't do any maintenance on mine but I do deep cleans once a year and wash once weekly and keep them separated..that's all, such a beautiful hairstyle, best decision I've ever made for my hair.✌💖
The History of Dreadlocks BY KNOTTY EMX The following blog excerpt contains an overview of the history of dreadlocks by Knotty EmX. Reprinted with permission. The first known examples of the hairstyle date back to ancient Egypt, where dreadlocks appeared on Egyptian artifacts. Mummified remains of ancient Egyptians with dreadlocks have even been recovered from archaeological sites. The Old Testament also recounts the tale of Samson and Delilah in which a man's potency is directly linked to 'the seven locks on his head' and according to Roman accounts, the Celts were described to have 'hair like snakes' Germanic tribes, Greeks and the Vikings are all said to have worn dreadlocks too. Rastafarianism however is something entirely separate. It was born in the 1930s when Ras Tafari was crowned emperor of Ethiopia. When the emperor was forced into exile during an invasion, guerrilla warriors swore not to cut their hair until the emperor was reinstated. The religion resonated with the ideologies of the day, for example socialism, Marxism, nationalism and black power. It was therefore, seen as a threat to Christianity and came under attack by the authorities that tried to suppress the 'Rasta' movement and imprisoned those who possessed 'ganja'. Rastafarians smoked cannabis because they thought it prompted a clearer state of well - being. Their dreadlocks were thought to be disgusting and frightening, hence the term 'dread' which was later reclaimed by the 'Rasta' community. The hairstyle was later brought into mainstream culture through the worldwide success of reggae artist Bob Marley. Sporting locks himself, he prompted an international interest in the style, and the anti establishment philosophy of Rastafarian culture. Dreadlocks became increasingly popular and there are many reasons in various cultures for wearing them. They can be an expression of deep religious or spiritual convictions, a manifestation of ethnic pride. They can make a political statement, or simply be a fashion preference. This essay on the history of dreadlocks is written by our own Knotty Vic Dicara, from the hardcore bands Beyond, Inside Out with Zack de la Rocha and 108. Reprinted with permission The History of Dreadlocks BY VIC D Left to its own devices, hair will naturally knot together and form mats or "dreadlocks". Upon seeing Dreadlocks, most people think of Bob Marley, reggae, and Rastafarianism, unaware that the roots of Dreadlocks go back much further, to at least 2500 BCE with the Dreadlocked Vedic deity Shiva and his followers. Dreadlocks are a universal phenomenon in the East as well as in the West. Spiritualists of all faiths and backgrounds incorporate into their paths a disregard for physical appearances and vanity. And so, throughout the world, such seekers often cease to comb, cut, or otherwise dress their hair: This is how "dreadlocks" are born. In the West, the Nazarite is most widely known for developing Dreadlocks. In the East, Yogis, Gyanis, and Tapasvis of all sects are the most famous bearers of Dreadlocks. Dreadlocks, then, are universally symbolic of a spiritualist's understanding that vanity and physical appearances are unimportant. The counterpart to Dreadlocks is the shaven head, which has the same aim: disregard for vanity associated with physical appearances. Usually we find that spiritualists whose religious path includes elaborate rituals tend to embrace the shaven head technique as it affords a level of ritual cleanliness, while those mystics who adopt meditative or otherwise non-ritualistic paths prefer to disregard the hair altogether and thus develop Dreadlocks. Dreadlocks are more than just a symbolic statement of disregard for physical appearance. Both Eastern and Western Traditions hold that bodily, mental and spiritual energies mainly exit the body through the top of the head and the hair. If the hair is knotted, they believe, the energy remains within the hair and the body, keeping a person more strong and healthy. An excellent example from Western tradition is biblical Sampson, whose unsurpassed strength was lost when Delilah cut off his *seven* locks of hair. In classical India, all students on the spiritual path were directly enjoined by their scriptures to develop Dreadlocks as a means to detach them from physical vanity and aid them in the development of bodily strength and supernatural mental and spiritual powers. As the world moved into the Industrial Era, Dreadlocks were rarely seen anywhere outside of India. However, at the turn of the Twentieth Century, a socio-religious movement started in Harlem, NY by Marcus Garvey found an enthusiastic following amongst the Black population of Jamaica. This ecclectic group drew their influences from three primary sources (1) the Old and New Testaments, (2) African tribal culture, and (3) The Hindu culture that had recently become a pervasive cultural force in the West Indies. The followers of this movement called themselves "Dreads," signifying that they had a dread, fear, or respect for God. Emulating Hindu and Nazarite holymen, these "Dreads" grew matted locks of hair, which would become known to the world as "Dreadlocks" - the hair-style of the Dreads. Soon after, this group would focus their attention on the Ethiopian Emperor Ras Tafari, Haile Selassie, and thus became known as Rastafarians. But the term "Dreadlocks" stuck. Ever since becoming connected with the Rastafarians in the early 1900's, Dreadlocks have taken on, in addition to their original religious and spiritual significance, a potent social symbolism as well. Today, Dreadlocks signify spiritual intent, natural and supernatural powers, and are a statement of non-violent non-conformity, communalism and socialistic values, and solidarity with less fortunate or oppressed minorities.

I love everyone’s dreads!! They look amazing!!! I’m on my third set of dreadlocks. The last set I had for almost 4 years. The set I have now I’ve had almost a year now.
You two are so adorable and the baby is absolutely BEAUTIFUL... I had locs for almost four years and I'm going to start them again... but on a different note-Mr. Justin looks so much like Jason Momoa... he could be Aquaman's younger brother (if he's younger)... or big brother...
Sweeeet! The Dreadloc video! Been lookin forward to it... Great Job! Good Info! So...I've been Dreadybill for somewhere around 15 yrs kinda lost track of exact date. But its been a long dedicated journey. For me my dreads represent several things. They have grown with me into the person I am today. They have grounded me in a way that's hard to discribe but every day I feel blessed and always tend to receive Possitive Complents from all ages of people. And that makes me 😀👍 I have poured out many o bowels of some Nasty water doin clenses! Although I hardly ever "matainence"them anymore and wash them with Dr B's when needed. And that's about it! Looking forward to your next post as always. Bless up🙏 Ps DEFINETLY recommend you guys check out the hocking hills area if you make your way to Ohio!✌😎👍
There’s these pretty awesome absorbent towels that work great for squeeze drying dreads. They’re orange and I used them to wash a puli dog at a groomer and I adored getting to do her lock maintenance. I should have done stuff like the vinegar. The wash process was always a bit of a tough one. But it was a lot of fun to do. She was very white. Used some purple shampoo to whiten her. It smelled like banana flavor does. Haha.
Baby is getting so big I have loved watching the growth. So question...i have tried dreads a few times but...my haid is very thin so it doesn't hold any suggestions my lovelies? Have a great week and big hugs

Both of you have beautiful hair and the time and patience you dedicate to it is just amazing!! Now all I can do is picture Azalea with little baby dreads haha stiking straight out all over her head haha!
Juby, I am about to dread my hair for the first time and the way your dreads look is exactly how I want mine to come in. Glad I watched this video cause I have been looking everywhere on how to get that dread texture. Interlocking. Got it! I go back and forth about dreads around my face or leaving a fringe (bangs). Here are the questions... I have very fine hair. Will the hair around my face tend to pull in an irritating way because of baby hairs when dreaded? Can you start dreads just by interlocking or do you have to start them with the backcomb method? Lastly approx how many dreads do you have? Peace and crunchy granola to you and your fam :)
I have fine, blond, pin straight hair. I got a perm and so every time I washed my hair the knots would get tighter and tighter automatically. I would pull them apart or cut them apart at the root as needed and the I after 6 months I had long thick dreadlocks. I loved them, I had thick glorious hair for the first time ever and I didn’t have to brush my hair which I hated to do (stil do). Just info for those out there with the texture of hair like mine. Cheers!

I just want to say my struggle with my demons is the awaking to who I am and sobriety has me a self perspective that I may have missed had i not traveled that dark road .
Refreshing to hear honesty .
and I love natural products because baby's and children can have a play without worrying about toxic chemicals 🙏🏾🙌🏾🌱🌳
I’m a 66 year old German/Irish woman and found this episode fascinating. Lots of information I never knew I wanted to learn about. You are a fascinating couple and have an adorable little girl. Pleased I stumbled upon your page a couple of months ago.
you can tell shes a daddies girl, so cute
I’ve never seen locs like your Juby. Almost reminiscent of a fishtail braid. I love 😍they’re gorgeous. I like her lock method!! I want locs now😪🥰😫
Thank you guys!
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid 😁
I'm on my 3rd and final natural hair journey.
I'm 63 and my hair was thinning so now they're locked in 😉
I'm also having great results from taking Biotin for new growth,
I actually have baby hairs now 😍
Love watching, you guys rock!
Peace 💛
@Robin Hello! I remember 56 😉
I'm gonna be 66 yrs, in November. Rocking locks and living my life like it's golden! Blessings my sisters! Be happy!
...and what a journey it is.
Beware!
You guys are so genuine and awesome. Thank you for sharing this! Also, seeing Azalea walking made me smile so big!
Awe baby A is walking !! So good that you let us grow up with her!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! I've been rocking my locks for 6 years this December. Just had about seven inches trimmed off. They were getting a little heavy. I love my locks!
Finally white people that actually take care of their dreads and actually live the lifestyle instead of following a trend ❤️❤️
Sam Magny Yes, many of us also freeform out of respect for the history of locks
Who cares why people get dreads tho
sad reee like Ina Love said out of respect for the history and culture being a culture vulture is a real thing
Your a fing dumb ass.. my three year old knows more than you.
So proud of you for doing it for yourself!

I feel the same way!! We need more people like them in the world!
You guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite van life/alternative living RUclips influencers! You are great & hope to meet u guys in the road someday, we are working on our bus! I'm having a marathon catching up on all of it videos! I feel like I am there with u! TY so much for sharing your life with us! I just had to cut off my dreads, accident & almost got scalped cuz of the massive amount of hair, got stuck in a ladder & no choice but to cut them to free myself. Very sad day! My husband & I worked on them for years, I just got them down to my butt. I love love ur dreads, both of u! I am wondering if u made a video of upkeep, I'll keep watching hopefully I'll come across one cuz I'd love to see ur technique. If u ever come back to CO know u have a place to chill, sleep, park & shower! We would be honored! Your daughter is a beautiful gift to the world! Peace, love, music & good times.
"it's not the end of the world".... it's evolution it's the shedding of what no longer serves your transition into higher self just as natures trees sheds it's limbs .....it is elevation Evolving spiritually it is a universal gift by way of frequency
I was waiting for this video and it didn’t disappoint, I truly enjoyed it.
Thanks for being so awesome guys!
I love this type of life style, I’ve made floor plans, and designs for a van house so I can travel more and I just started free forming dreads and I’m really excited to be-able to do something like this.
Dreads tell stories and I’m excited to start mine.
Y’all have a beautiful family and beautiful locks, so thank you for telling us about them.
Namaste 🕉️ I would first like to tell you that I no longer remembered seeing such special and beautiful people as you, your family. The world is growing uglier if you understand me. Watching this video I remembered the day (10 years ago) when I cut my rastas was a relief from the weight but a long process of acceptance, I felt naked. Please never lose your light that is so beautiful, good and contagious. kisses from Portugal
I miss the dreads so much it's what got me hooked on you guys years ago

Hey Guys,
So first of all I REALLY ENJOYED THIS VIDEO and I am a supporter of your page and your journey! However, just a quick history lesson, If you don't mind :)
Your hair should be referred to as "Locs" because your hair is "locked." The word "Dreadlock" came about during the time of slavery in America.
Jacquelyn Reid Ty for the info I did not know that ⚘
Yes 💯it's a very messed up thing people don't even consider the name of it but the history is very REAL. 💔Keep your locs healthy ;)
@@Dreadologist the word dreadlock was used before American slavery. What are your thoughts?

Jacquelyn Reid thank you for commenting this! A lot of people don’t know this and hopefully they get the message.
I think that baby is so unbelievably beautiful and cute and she’s so lucky to have amazing parents like you guys💙
My 5 month old son is just in love with the little girl.. hes gets so excited when he sees her on camera
I admire the way you kept your head in that bucket! Awesome❤
Your family is so sweet. I'm happy I found your channel!
I just wanted to let the both of you know, that you two are amazing people. Watching the both of you is so relaxing and refreshing (:
I watch y’all all the time y’all vibe is so calming
I hope that you are enjoying a beautiful day!❤💋
New to this channel, I subscribed after the first video (macrame bassinet). Absolutely Stunningly Beautiful Family on the outside as well as the inside. Gives me hope that with parents like this our youth may have a future filled with Beauty,Harmony and realization to the real meaning of Life. ❤️
I just found your channel and I'm so excited to see the rest of your videos. I've had my dreads for 3 and a half years. I've grown to love them so much. What a great hairstyle! They are growing and I can't wait for them to be really long. Love your family's energy!
When you do feel it's time to shave them I hope you do share the journey, either way with or with out you are a beautiful person.
My dreads are 3 1/2 yrs free form. Thanks for inspiring me to give them a washing! It’s hard for me to want to wash when it’s cold and they take 9 hours to dry! All fresh and clean!!
Can't believe the vitamin packs are compostable!!!! That is genious!!!
I completely relate to starting the lock journey multiple times and how you have to be in the mindset for them.
The History of Dreadlocks
BY KNOTTY EMX
The following blog excerpt contains an overview of the history of dreadlocks by Knotty EmX.
Reprinted with permission
The History of Dreadlocks
BY VIC D
Left to its own devices, hair will naturally knot together and form mats or "dreadlocks".
Loved the learning the history. Thank you so much!
Oldest documented dreads are of Lord Shiva in India. They're called jatas
Thank u2 for this dreadlock info video! My daughter just started locking her hair up last week, the journey has begun for her.

I started following you because you live in a bus and have dreadlocks 😁 I cheated with mine, I started with extension dreads which just got pleated into my hair but I am transitioning into real dreads as the 2nd side of the extention has been cut off and dreaded into my own hair.
Good morning beautiful family...Thanks for the informative video and Juby thank you for your honesty about your struggle with dependency..I look forward to the videos every Wednesday, they add a special vibe to my day, and Azalea you are loved by many, watching her grow smile...every child should be so loved. Truly beautiful family! This video feeds the soul!
"She never washes her hair." He called you our girl! 😂 I don't have dreads and I wash my hair once a week or every 2 weeks. Dry shampoo is my shit!
You two are so adorable and the baby is absolutely BEAUTIFUL... I had locs for almost four years and I'm going to start them again... but on a different note-Mr. Justin looks so much like Jason Momoa... he could be Aquaman's younger brother (if he's younger)... or big brother...
I would love to see how you cook in your tiny home and some of your favorite recipes! ❤️❤️
Omg I loved this video!!! Sooo interesting!! I had no idea so much went in to having dreadlocks! They really suit u guys xx

And that makes me 😀👍
I have poured out many o bowels of some Nasty water doin clenses! Although I hardly ever "matainence"them anymore and wash them with Dr B's when needed. And that's about it!
Looking forward to your next post as always. Bless up🙏
Ps
DEFINETLY recommend you guys check out the hocking hills area if you make your way to Ohio!✌😎👍
Yay! I asked about this on Instagram and now it’s here!!!!! Love u guys!
You're just such beautiful people with good vibes. ✨So glad I found you. Cute baby btw.
Haha.
Super neat and informative, I learn something everyday! 🌹
I love their lifestyle... It seems to be so stress free from the urban stressful life...
OMG, I thought the same thing!!!!
Baby is getting so big I have loved watching the growth. So question...i have tried dreads a few times but...my haid is very thin so it doesn't hold any suggestions my lovelies? Have a great week and big hugs
Love to see diverse locs on diverse ppl, living in appreciation & beauty of loced tribes... 🙆♀️👊🤘💓
I loved this video!!! I love all yor videos lol ive had green dreadlocks for 4 years and they are so special to me. They really are an extension of yourself. Native americans belive your hair holds power and i really feel that energy more than i ever did without them. Also i use dr bronners too but i hear it can leave residue buildup so im currently looking to switch, ive heard good things about DollyLocs products. Much love to you guys!!! I cant click your videos fast enough!!! ♡
We respect you guys so much! How you live your life with such meaning and give your all to everything you do! Both of you have beautiful hair and the time and patience you dedicate to it is just amazing!! Now all I can do is picture Azalea with little baby dreads haha stiking straight out all over her head haha!
Your baby is so adorable and she's eye's is so butiful 😍😘
Cheers!
Thanks for the video!! ❤️❤️You guys are just so awesome!
