I find hair so amazing. Both Justin and Judy started growing their dreads at low points, from what they have said. The fact that the dreads were with them through their personal growth and journey and now they both are in a better place and are starting fresh. It’s amazing when the physical changes connect to the mental and spiritual ones. It’s not just cutting hair it’s like a new season of life. You’re both amazing for sharing your journeys with us. I agree. I myself had dreads at one point, have grown my hair long, have shaved it several times, had periods where I hated my hair and straightened it. I've gone through it all like Juby and Justin and am now growing my hair out from a buzz cut yet again, trying to embrace yet another natural part of myself by starting my nopoo (no traditional shampoo) journey :D

Blessings to you on your new chapter! My husband had dreadlocks before I met him. We've been together for 18 years. He was a musician and a dogwalker in Chicago for that whole time. Dreads were completely part of his personality and how people recognized him. We lost our pet care business due to Covid. It was devastating and scary. He got a new job at a glass factory in another state, so we has a big move and he had to cut his dreads off. My hands shook when I cut them and we both cried. We buried them in the ground before we left Illinois. It has been a year now. His curls are growing and his hair is beautiful. He doesn't miss them anymore and I bet you won't in a year either. I'm only 1 min in... man I hear you Justin. I had my 1st set of dreads for only 2 years and it was emotional shaving my head lol. (and then I waited a year and put new dreadlocks in my hair.) people who have never had dreadlocks really don't quite grasp the attachment we get to our hair. I mean it's a real thing. and even after cutting them, lots of times we miss them so much (we do like me and re-dread.) Anyway, Let me watch the rest of this video. What a beautiful experience. Loved watching. My dread cutting experience wasn't by choice but it sure had an impact on my life. I was in the midst of horrible post partum depression and psychosis (due to lack of sleep ljkely) and at the same time my oldest Daughter brought home from school "friends" that liked my hair as well. The night before I was hospitalized I cut all my dreads. There was no proper cut and when I went to the hospital I was deloused and my hair was a million different lengths. It truly was a humbling experience, one that made me learn what ego was. That whole experience actual led to my awakening and the person I am today. I mourn for the ability to have cut them on my terms, but watching you cut yours eased that for me. Love you all. 💗💗💗
Can I say something please? I have been deathly sickl that I went on a 7 half year journey extremely diet change. I have lost 163 pounds. I'm not bedbound any more. I'm not in a wheelchair or walking with a walker or cane anymore. My long long 7 years have taken me strength not to sink. I want you to think about that son. You needed that hair to grow you ....so you can make the mold in you... as a much better soul in you. My son's hair is to his waistline. I tell him that is where his strength comes from. He is a chef in college and He is highly liked by others just like you. You remind me of my son. I love watching y'all. May God bless you angel. I love your new haircut. totally feeling that new chapter...... been going thru menopause 6yrs....huge /painful, crappy..but feel different this yr....i cut my dreads,then combed out , then i shaved a mohawk, and have a row underneath of new dreads and dyed it turquoise & orange.... and loving my combined loose hair, shaved and dready.... hairs def sacred, holds all your secrets & memorys...they do drug tests on hair....every part of us holds what we've been thru... I grew my hair on a bet, I never had dreads but my hair was almost to my knees when I had a car wreck. I had a severe neck injury and lost three disks in my neck and three in my lower back. I was told by more than one Dr. to cut my hair because of the weight of it. I didn't want to but after about a year I gave in and had it cut up to my shoulders. It was a life altering decision and I felt like part of my identity had left me and took quite a while to realize that I was still me no matter what my hair looked like...Justin you are still just as handsome with short hair just Juby is beautiful.
I liked that Justin spoke about sitting with a feeling or emotion. The growth and lesson comes from sitting with and experiencing an emotion for a period of time. In today’s world of technology, people like to read a social media quote and not dig deeper. You guys look beautiful!

Thank you for sharing yourloc journey. I just started my loc journey in January. I have installed them myself using the crochet method and twist and rip combo. For me it’s a spiritual journey of finding myself and amplifying my connection to spirit. With or without locs you will always look cute Justin cause of the amazing soul that you possess, that shines so bright into the world. Your friends and family are blessed to get to spend this lifetime with you. I am about to venture west myself soon for the deserts of the US and I look forward to the adventures to come. Watching this whilst on lock down in Sydney Australia. At present all hairdressers are closed, I have cut my husband's hair with the dog's clippers. Justin you look great without the dreads.
I have thigh length hair, I’m 58, not gone grey & my hair is beautiful thick & one of my best assets. Saying that it is getting so heavy that I can’t even put it up comfortably any more. Also it makes every day chores so much more difficult but I’m loath to cut it off fir obvious reasons..what’s a girl to do???🤷🏻♀️it really is a very emotional decision that I think has to be made by yourself, I don’t think anyone can influence you in this. Chopping off super long hair, I think, is symbolic of change & new starts because you are literally losing your own personal body part along with it all the attachments it’s associated with to the past & saying hello to the future, moving on. If I decide to move on & cut my hair I’ll keep in in a keepsake box for my memories. It’s amazing how your hair naturally changes colour over the years & you can see the progression in long hair.

I (or should I say my wife) cut off my dreads about 8 years ago. They were about as long as Justin's were. I Loved 'em, but my wife did not...so for Christmas that year, I gave her a pair of scissors with a bow wrapped around them. She said "are you sure??", and I told her that I'm only offering this once...so she said "sit down!!" We filled a grocery bag half full of hair. It felt like I had taken a helmet off my head. It was good, it was time to move forward, much like you said on here. Sometimes, in order to move forward in life, you have to clear a path, so this was one way I was able to do that...altho I still do miss 'em! One regret, is that I wished I had saved one as a keychain or something, just as a momento. Hope you do the same. Looks good brother! One Love!

I grew my hair on a bet, I never had dreads but my hair was almost to my knees when I had a car wreck. I had a severe neck injury and lost three disks in my neck and three in my lower back. I was told by more than one Dr. to cut my hair because of the weight of it. I didn't want to but after about a year I gave in and had it cut up to my shoulders. It was a life altering decision and I felt like part of my identity had left me and took quite a while to realize that I was still me no matter what my hair looked like...Justin you are still just as handsome with short hair just Juby is beautiful.
I liked that Justin spoke about sitting with a feeling or emotion. The growth and lesson comes from sitting with and experiencing an emotion for a period of time. In today’s world of technology, people like to read a social media quote and not dig deeper. You guys look beautiful!

Thank you for sharing yourloc journey. I just started my loc journey in January. I have installed them myself using the crochet method and twist and rip combo. For me it’s a spiritual journey of finding myself and amplifying my connection to spirit. With or without locs you will always look cute Justin cause of the amazing soul that you possess, that shines so bright into the world. Your friends and family are blessed to get to spend this lifetime with you. I am about to venture west myself soon for the deserts of the US and I look forward to the adventures to come. Watching this whilst on lock down in Sydney Australia. At present all hairdressers are closed, I have cut my husband's hair with the dog's clippers. Justin you look great without the dreads.
I have thigh length hair, I’m 58, not gone grey & my hair is beautiful thick & one of my best assets. Saying that it is getting so heavy that I can’t even put it up comfortably any more. Also it makes every day chores so much more difficult but I’m loath to cut it off fir obvious reasons..what’s a girl to do???🤷🏻♀️it really is a very emotional decision that I think has to be made by yourself, I don’t think anyone can influence you in this. Chopping off super long hair, I think, is symbolic of change & new starts because you are literally losing your own personal body part along with it all the attachments it’s associated with to the past & saying hello to the future, moving on. If I decide to move on & cut my hair I’ll keep in in a keepsake box for my memories. It’s amazing how your hair naturally changes colour over the years & you can see the progression in long hair.

Wow! Just as beautiful before and after. As someone having just started my hair journey(not dreds but long hair and no idea when I’ll cut) I’m appreciative of your perspective and the sincerity to which you approach the discussion. Love seeing you guys live your best life. Reminds me of the short time we got to spend together at the bus swarm a couple years ago. Fond memories and would love to experience it all again.
I (or should I say my wife) cut off my dreads about 8 years ago. They were about as long as Justin's were.
I Loved 'em, but my wife did not...so for Christmas that year, I gave her a pair of scissors with a bow wrapped around them.
She said "are you sure??", and I told her that I'm only offering this once...so she said "sit down!!"
We filled a grocery bag half full of hair. It felt like I had taken a helmet off my head.
It was good, it was time to move forward, much like you said on here.
Sometimes, in order to move forward in life, you have to clear a path, so this was one way I was able to do that...altho I still do miss 'em!
One regret, is that I wished I had saved one as a keychain or something, just as a momento. Hope you do the same.

Thank you for this! I am at this very point with my own hair. No dreads just SUPER LONG. Been contemplating a new do for some time but like all the things you said about taking time with it, sitting with all the "possibilities" and "what if's".
