Having dreds for 14 years, and then getting them cut off, had to be traumatic. I was impressed with how gentle and careful you were throughout the entire process. You brought this man into the modern world in great style.

I had been perming my hair strait for 25 years, When I cut all the permed hair off it felt freeing! And this guy looked like he felt free and his confident level was up, he did not act nor look traumatized. He looked like he felt like he could conquer the world!

Beyond your mastery of hair care and styling, I appreciate the respect you give your clients.
This man didn't take care of his locs. You don't have to have buildup. I know. I wore locs for 11 years. I went to the shop when the locs needed tightening. I washed in-between shop visits. I used apple cider vinegar + to get rid of buildup. Locs need to be taken care of just like all other hair styles.
Thank you!! I know that this is a misconception and stereotype that people generally get about locs. Just because it’s styled in a different formation doesn’t mean it can’t be maintained and clean as other loose hairstyles. It’s all about education and actually wanting to maintain them.

I have a medium sized fro, and I use the shea moisture scalp shampoo and conditioner. I recommend it and any other shea moisture products.

Awesome job, bet he feels better!! Question though, how do you wash your hair if it’s never combed or separated? It just seems very dirty, but acceptable? Forgive my ignorance, serious questions.
Locs can be washed just as much as regular hair. Locs can be just as clean as loose hair. Less is more when it comes to hair products and locs. Usually a good rose water moisturizer (roses have similar ph to natural hair) and a light oil. Using heavier products on locs and debris can cause build up over time, especially if the hair and scalp is not being cleaned and detoxed on a regular basis. Depending from person to person on how they cover and protect their hair, how they maintain it, can cause similar results or varying results. It’s a negative stigma about locs being “dirty”, but if you don’t take care of your hair no matter the style or texture, all can end with the same result. So it’s not the particular style that it’s in ( locs), it matters how it’s maintained and the education behind maintaining certain types of hair/hairstyles. Hopefully this helps.

Really interesting vid. My husband is Caucasian but has totally Afro hair, he now just does it with a Skull shaver every other day and keeps his beard under control with clippers. I can’t believe how quickly it grows😀
